Personality:
Reinhardt, who used to be a soldier, is now just a veteran living his normal life. He has no intention to keep fighting on, and that describes his personality fairly well. He is done with fighting and would rather just live his everyday life. He is a very sympathetic individual and one may become friends with him quickly. Normally, this is how he would describe himself. However with recent events, he has started fighting again. Not because he loves fighting, but because he wants to protect what he believes in and those who cannot protect themselves.

Reinhardt likes to sit in a bar, drink a lot and talk with people who share their stories. Of course, a veteran like Reinhardt has quite a bit of stories to share himself. Normally, he spends his evenings laughing and drinking with friends. In contrast to his friendly, peaceful personality, is his sense of justice. Reinhardt always fought for those who cannot fight, he wanted to protect those who were precious to him. His heart won´t allow him to look away if something unjust happens, which is why he stands up for those who are treated unjust. War has changed him, and made him see that fighting is not everything in life. Overall Reinhardt is an honest veteran, trying to live as peaceful as he can, while protecting as much as he can while he is on Royal Guard duty.

Background:
Reinhardt used to be a soldier during the demi-human-war. There, he fought countless battles, mostly on his own. Back then, he was a completely different kind of person. Reinhardt used to love fighting, which is why he signed up for the war in the first place. As a melee fighter, he wanted to prove that he could beat even magicians. One could call it bravery, but "stupid" and "reckless" would be more fitting descriptions of his old fighting style. Even back then, he was quite big for a human. He had all the tools he needed, to fight against magicians and melee fighters both the same. Huge armor, combined with his yang magic made him a force to be recognized. Since he was also quite strong, a result of his lifelong training, he lifted a heavy and huge hammer, which was his weapon of choice.
One could say that Reinhardt really did enjoy fighting and slaying his enemies. However, while he loved fighting and killing, the war has also changed him.

Reinhardt saw so much blood, so many innocent people being slaughtered. Even a reckless soldier like himself started questioning the ethics behind the war. Was it really right to kill people like this? During the following years of war, he underwent some heavy changes. The best way to describe it, would be with the story of Tony. Tony was his best friend during the war, he fought together with Reinhardt in the same unit. Since the war already went on for a few years, Reinhardt was known and feared for his actions during the war even among-st his own men. However Tony was different. He was a simple magician, who enlisted himself to fight in the war because he wanted to protect his wife and children back at home. Tony really didn´t have many strengths, very basic fire magic is all he could produce. During the actual fights he was mostly running and avoiding enemies. But he was the nicest and most impressive man Reinhardt had ever met.

Their friendship truly developed during these years. However, in one of the final years of war, it happened. The weak Tony was brutally slaughtered right in front of Reinhardt's eyes. There was nothing he could do to save Tony, but it caused Reinhardt to go on a rampage. He tore right through the enemies, not caring for his own condition. As he returned from the battlefield, he was already half-dead. A sword stuck right through his helmet, into his left eye and he had burning wounds and arrows stuck in him all over his body. The healing mages could barely keep him alive, yet he managed to survive. That day, Reinhardt promised to himself that he would protect those who cannot protect themselves. And that was exactly what he did during these last few years of war. He barely fought in the front line, Reinhardt mostly protected the healing mages who were fighting in the back from all incoming harm. Those actions have made him a respected individual among his men.

When the war was finally over, his actions were also recognized. He was personally thanked by the royal family, and granted any wish he wanted for his incredible protecting efforts during the war. Reinhardt´s only wish was to live a normal life. Therefore, he was given a house within the city and enough money to live a casual life, like a common person, until the end of his life. However nowadays, with so much trouble on the horizon, Reinhardt has received an invite to join the Royal Guard. While he initially wanted to decline the kind offer, Reinhardt actually had second thoughts over it. It was always his dream to be allowed to protect more people, and this would give him the ultimate opportunity to do so. Therefore, not long after receiving said offer he accepted it. Nowadays Reinhardt is a proud member of the Royal Guard, fighting for what he believes in.
