Again, the specialisation section is for Combat, Stealth, or Magic. Whichever of the 3 your character specialises in is what goes there.

Expert hunting: Why? How? Who taught him to become an expert at such a young age? It's not like he had to hunt to provide for himself or family at a young age.
Sneak, Security, Speechcraft: Why? He has no need or mention of stealth skills in his backstory.
Smithing: Once again, no mention of smithing in his backstory. Shouldn't be a skill.

Still haven't said why parents left Black Marsh? If the father secured the job before leaving, please state so. Taking your family on the road in the hopes of securing a job is just foolhardy.

His father soon became highly respected when he advised the Jarl on a conversation he'd overheard between the woman and a redgaurd visiter. He'd heard about the Alik'r and had never trusted them. The Jarl took his advice and refused the redguards to search the hold for someone.

This has obviously been taken from the Skyrim quest "In My Time of Need", in which Alik'r are searching for the redguard Saadia. Once again, this is not a valid excuse for Jan-Hei's father to gain trust with the Jarl. Chances are he wouldn't even be allowed into the hold, what with the prejudices against beast races that most Nords seem to have. Saying to the guards that he witnessed an Alik'r warrior questioning a woman wouldn't bring up any risks that would allow him to speak to the Jarl personally. You need to come up with a believable - and original - reason for why Jan-Hei's father became advisor to the Jarl, or you'll have to remove it from his backstory.

How old exactly was he? Everything that occurs after this in his backstory seems very squashed together; he travels for 3 years, joins the guards, is "slow to rise in the ranks" but then becomes the Jarl's personal bodyguard, and then even more "years pass". From gaining enough fame in the guards to be in the Jarl's own guard makes me think he must have been there for easily more than 6 years, especially if he was slow rising through the ranks. That would leave him 19 at the most when he got back from his travels, and 16 when he left Riften. A child of 16 would not survive for 3 years, by himself, with very little training in protecting himself in the wilds; nor would I imagine his father letting him do so.

"Wondering what in Oblivion had happened, he began searching for survivors, clues as to what happened, and a local smithery. It didn't take too long for him to catch a trail of multiple people. Thinking of the possible survivors, he began following them quickly, hoping to catch up to them soon."

As mentioned before, Jan-Hei will already be at the base camp by the time the gate is closed and the group start their journey to leave. Additionally, even if they had left, there are already survivors at Kvatch; a number of civilians and guards make up the base camp, that is not that hard to find. As for Jan-Hei's responsibilities, I can't see why he would linger with a group just to close gates when he has a Jarl to protect back in Skyrim. This needs to be addressed.

Again, he's carrying way too much money. Cut it down by at least 200 septims.

@MiddleEarthRoze Do I need to have my character inside the temple of Akatosh or simply just in the town? I'm not sure how far you all have gotten.

Glad to see you excited! At this point the group has already started entering the plane of Oblivion, so your character - when finished - will have to wait to be introduced once the gate is closed. This shouldn't take too long in the IC, as I'll be moving things forward very soon and we won't be spelunking in every nook and cranny like in the game. Your character would likely be in the camp below Kvatch, where the refugees and survivors are staying; your character could have fled Kvatch with them in time before the city became overrun, or they could simply be a bystander, arriving from outside to see what was going on; they can then join the group when they leave for Weynon Priory. However, you can still post and introduce your character rather than just waiting around; they'll just have to be outside of Kvatch, and waiting for the gate to close.

@MiddleEarthRoze My original version didn't have an explanation because Jan-Hei didn't know how his father got the job. Nor did he know why they moved. With all these things you want changed or expanded on, I might as well have them settle in Kvatch instead of Riften. Problem is, I don't know how the local hierarchy works in Kvatch. I had originally told everything the character knew. Jan-Hei knew that he was hatched by a Hist tree because his parents told him. For all he knows, they could have just moved to get away from someone or escape an assassin or anything. Yeah, there were holes. There was also a reason for those holes. And it's not that I can't think of anything.

Sorry for ranting but I've been stressed all week. And the reason his skills are what they are is because sometimes people are naturally talented at something. Jan-Hei is a natural hunter.

@RokkuHoshi So what were those reasons? I know I might not have any authority in this, but if you plan on keeping things secret from the rest of us, you ought to disclose the rest of that information that you left out to both @MiddleEarthRoze and @Leos Klien.

Our GMs simply ask us to meet their requirements, which means adhering to the requests they ask of us.

Your CS is a test, a test to your writing ability, and your dedication to this game. If you're dedicated, and truly want to play in this game, then you'll comply with what MiddleEarthRoze and LeosKlien ask of you.

Not trying to jump down your throat, but I've kept an eye on your CS for Jan-Hei, and Roze has asked you quite a few times to fix/expand on areas. Fair is fair is fair.

@MacabreFox I get that. I wasn't trying to go off on him. I just feel that some of these questions are unfair or obvious. He asked why Jan-Hei has the hides and pelts. I thought it would be obvious that he hunted the dèrs for food and kept a few of the hides to either turn into leather or sell and the wolves attacked him, wolf pelts. Jan-Hei doesn't know why thwy moved. I've been trying to think of a reason but the only ones I can come up with are too generic, outlandish, or just don't make sense. The same thing with how he became the Jarl's advisor. At this point, it seems like I should just make him born outside of Black Marsh, making him an outcast to Argonians from there, and have him grown up in Kvatch, which I barely know anything about.

Hey Rokku, after my long hiatus I seem to have come back at a rather interesting time, I've seen all of the reworks and things that have been asked of you throughout the lengthy creation of your Character.
Considering that you are on your 3rd amendment and have still failed to provide that has been asked of you.
Let's be fair, after looking through what you have provided in the bio it lacks a considerable amount of detail or expansion on fairly extensive moves.
For instance the trip to Riften from the Black Marsh; that'd take months and be both dangerous and expensive.
Either way it's possible yet you've provided nothing in it, okay it's not to do with your character; per say, but that's not an excuse as your parents story is just as important as your own.
I once done 6 pages of story on my characters parents story although I'd never expect that level of detail.
Put it this way, a general rule is the more fantastical it is, the greater explanation it needs.
And yours is pretty darn fantastical.

Anyway I'm not going further into it as far as I'm concerned this role play is clearly not for you, unfortunately you just do not meet the level of detail and skill required in this role play.

The backstory of a character is one of the most important things in such a lore-heavy roleplay as this. What I've gathered from your arguments is that you've ignored my feedback under the basis that you cannot be bothered to do potential reasearch. Also, for you to say I've asked unfair and obvious questions; how? Where? The hunting talent and pelts were not obvious things to know. For a child who has never had to worry about food to provide for himself and his family, there would be no reason for him to learn how to hunt, butcher or skin prey. Just because it's obvious to you doesn't make it obvious for us.

On that note, what Jan-Hei knows is irrelevant to his backstory, as you the author, should know and disclose these things. Hence why character sheets are written in 3Rd person. I have not asked unfair questions for you to explain, and the face that you've ignored my feedback makes me think you're not willing to put in the effort required for this roleplay. I agree with Leos; you've had plenty of chances to rectify this and chosen not to, so we won't be accepting or reviewing any more CSs from you. Best of luck in your roleplaying future.

Oh, and I'm a girl by the way.

I didn't say anything was unfair, only that I felt it was unfair.

Doing any amount of research is hard for me to do on my fiancee's phone. I tried but could not find anything other than what is shown in the game. I don't think that's my fault.

I've been trying to answer the questions as best as I can. I didn't originally think any of that was important because it didn't affect Jan-Hei directly. I've been trying my best to get all the information you're asking for but I'm not the best.

If you really won't give me another chance then I have no option but to let y'all go on without me.

@RokkuHoshiDon't feel bad or be intimidated. I know you're busy and you probably saw this and wanted to join because you love Oblivion and the Elder Scrolls, like we all do. I know you were thinking this is like the game, and hey it's understandable with the title and setting and all XD. Who remembers killing a deer in Oblivion when you got Daedra and Politics to worry about?
But this being 'High Casual' or 'Advanced' will usually mean that we'd treat this more like a book series (and about someone usually less impressive that the main 'Hero of Kvatch') rather than the game, other than various smaller references. So making a character would be more like making an OC for a novel rather than character creation in Oblivion. I was having trouble with my CS at first too. We don't have anything against you, my friend :)

I have been working on my character sheet when I have the time, and am making progress. I love the character that I am creating and am really excited to take part in this adventure with you all if the fates wish it so. I just wanted to stop by to say that I haven't gone anywhere and that I'll be lurking in the shadows until I'm ready to reveal my devious plan....I mean my character...to you all lol. Hello hello! So, this tagging is basically to tell you how the dice system will work; it'll also be added in the OP on the first page of the OOC in case we need to re-fresh our memories. I'm putting it on here now because I'll be moving the group along tomorrow, and they'll have their first dice-rolled fight when they find the tower and enter it. To reiterate, your character's cannot die (unless you abandon the roleplay, that is), and the dice rolls won't be implemented for every battle/foe our group comes across. Just main battles - and this one is simply to introduce you all to it.

Basically, the dice rolls will affect the following:


  • Size/Strength of our enemy: The lower the roll for this means the harder the fight will be, and the more likely injuries will occur; however, it also means more loot - or more valuable loot - will become available. Again, you are not at risk of dying, this is simply for spicing up the story and having your character's interact with things during or after a battle.
  • Whether an injury has been sustained.
  • The size/wealth of the loot received: While there are plenty of loot-able things in the world of the Elder Scrolls, we will be more realistic about it. You may take a Daedric arrow as a souvenir to study back home, but you will not be taking all the weapons and armour of a Dremora because you were lucky enough to kill it. This roll will be specifically for what will be within the "Boss Chest" - when a battle is finished, a nearby horde or container will become available for your characters to go spelunking into. If it's a high roll, everyone is rolling in money. If it's a low roll, we all get mouldy apples for dinner.


It should be noted that in terms of injury, we would not expect people to follow the same scaling. For example, if two of you are fighting a scamp and a daedroth respectively, and both of you roll a five, the scamp is not going to inflict the same amount of damage as the daedroth. The smaller/weaker the enemy, the less likely it is for you to become injured by it. E.G. If you roll anything above a 2 for the scamp, you are unscathed. If it's below, it's managed to hurt you. We, the GMs, will decide on the scaling for each enemy and let you know the outcome; we expect you to write about it accordingly and as realistically as possible.

Additionally, alchemical ingredients - specifically those taken from the bodies of fallen foes - should only be harvested by someone who has the knowledge of what the specific ingredient does.

I hope I've explained everything clearly, and will give examples prior to the roleplay if you'd like them. Hopefully my Co-GM will point out if I've missed anything.

We rolled a 2 for the upcoming fight; which means it's going to be a tough one, but there's a good chance of loot. As such, the chances of injuries have been upped by 1 to emphasis the toughness of this battle.

3 Scamps (Unsummoned) (3 or under for injury)
2 Clannfear Runts (4 or under for injury)
3 Dremora Churls (6 or under for injury)
2 Dremora Churl Mages (4 or under for injury)
2 Summoned Scamps with the Dremora Mages (3 or under for injury)

Overall 12 enemies to fight between 11 of us (Not including puppers), the following are everbody's rolls. First come first serve on the enemies.

Valen - 4
Orintur - 6
Naenya - 6
Adamiir - 1
Veeza - 5
Bardeck - 2
Aveca - 7
Renart - 8
Engel - 7
Brona - 2
Niko - 9

Basically, the higher the roll you have, the less likely the chance of injury. Again, first come first serve on the enemies, I'll trust you all to roleplay it realistically. If you're not far off the mark (E.G. You're up against a Dremora and roll a 5 - the injury isn't going to be terrible. If you roll a 1, it's going to be worse. You get the gist, but I trust y'all.)

I also got rid of the webpage before remembering to screenshot it, so I apologise for that - guess you'll have to trust I didn't rig the rolls, haha. There'll be screenshots next time, and the loot rolls will follow once the fight is over.

Following the fight, if you're injured, I encourage others to start a-healing. It'll open up some character interactions too. You guys can start posting once I've finished with my moving along post... I'm hoping I get the goriness across well enough.
