Connecting Collisions in Cyberspace Interspace

- - - A Digital Era - Save the Digital World!

GM Notes:

- This is where I would word vomit every last singular detail and expectation for interested folks. I won't be doing that. Instead, I will say this is a reboot of a long spanning RP I've been crafting for the past several years. In recent months I've been able to write on my own, within the world itself which has allowed me to tweak things for my own novelization. I don't want this to be a mock trial for a novel by any means. I won't steal character ideas or anything like that. But as a note, if you are from my Corrected & Connected series, you will notice some different technology and terminology. Don't be afraid or anything. Below is a basic plot and if I get interested folks, I will be happy to give more information. I was on an extended hiatus and I hope to start some active stuff to get back into the habit of loving the Guild and those I befriend on it.

Basic Premise:

- It's the near future, the world is at peace, there is no war, no poverty, no disease. Everything is seeming perfect and normal.

The future is not only bright, it's gleaming, shining.

Technology and medicine have been making leaps and bounds and as such, people have become more dependent on their cell phones. As they should, they are what keep them connected to everything around them. Their cell phones sync with a microchip which in turn, keep them alive. And while people can now access the internet anywhere across the bountiful world, hackers threaten the established peace. So governments across the world began to train recruits to secretly infatuate the online world. These people are paid very well for their service and are able to combat hackers and viruses and everything else that threaten to kill people or worse, steal their identity via their microchip access. We will be playing these skilled heroes, able to live double lives and ensure that peace is kept safe.

The setting will be London, 2026. We will be playing those native to England and the greater UK area. Our characters will be in their early to mid twenties with jobs of their own, lives of their own. Our characters will have been trained together years ago and as such, already know each other rather well. The characters themselves who are part of the British are called Correctors. No civilians know about their careers and Correctors are usually recruited at age 17 and are trained for a year under a more seasoned Corrector. Correctors typically have yearly contracts they renew, Correctors generally stay with the job for five to six years, though there is rumor that one or two Correctors have been around since the beginning, since the day of Unification ten years ago in 2016. It's possible to hide in the deepest realms of the digital landscape, where secrets can hide for as long as necessary.

Our Correctors see the world in black and white. They do not need to be excellent with technology and the Government often picks those with a strong moral compass, as opposed to those who are skilled with computers. They don't wish for their employees to get smart and use the technology for their own purposes after all, it's happened before and they don't want history to repeat itself. Our story begins with them being given another mission, a Collision has happened and they've got to go clean it up. A Collision is when a virus is detected and is targeting its victim, either a person or company, such as a bank. When on the scene, a mystery is presented to them, causing them to question the very people they have been working tirelessly for.

- - If interested, let me know by posting here. Any questions you have, feel free to ask!

RP Requirements:

- You should be capable of posting 4-6 paragraphs per post.

- You should be able to work well with others and communicate any issues or concerns.

- You should also contribute to the plot and development of the story, I consider myself a benevolent GM who likes to work with her group than oversee it like a dictator.

- You should be able post in the IC once a week unless real life dictates otherwise. You're making a commitment to me and the group, I want it to be taken seriously. Of course real life comes first but see above requirement, you should keep us in the loop.

- You should lastly have fun, this story is nothing without its characters and the awesome writers behind them. Each writer should strive to push themselves as a writer but to also make this story enjoyable.

- You should expect to use an anime image for your character and her/his Corrector so keep that in mind when you mull over joining.

Okay I'm slightly confused. Interested, given that I had an idea for a corporate espionage/tech rp a while back that I never bothered to write out. So here is my question: your last line seems to indicate we will have both a character and a corrector? Are the characters and corrector seperate entities?

You'll be playing a character who has two identities and appearances. One is their offline self which is grounded in reality the other is their online avatar of sorts which looks vastly different with whatever tricks/skills they have for combating hackers and tangible viruses.

It's possible we could give it a shot as a one on one?

I just don't want to disappoint. Life is crazy and currently i'm doing character creation for one Rp, and running another. While this would be a third commitment it would be different if it was a one on one. I'd have to think about it. Can you start with some ideas about where you want to take the story? I'm not saying no I'm just making sure I'll be fully engaged and produce decent writing with you.

@Genkai hallo boss! I'd be interested in this again too! A 1x1 (or even 1x1x1) would be something I'm down for

@vietmyke Hey there! Long time no see! We could totally do a 1x1x1, I'd be down for that. Or it could be up and me if hawk isn't comfortable.

@Themerlinhawk For this I did hint that there would be a mystery presented to the group shortly after we kick things off. Normally these guys would go into the Digital World and fight dangers and risks but are instead confronted by someone claiming the people they work for, aren't on the right side of justice. The issue of uncovering truths would be at the heart of this RP as well as how the government they work for, handles missing Correctors and their deaths. I can't say too much more on the plot itself, due to storytelling reasons but it's always a passion project mine and it does play well with a small group and pacing is usually fairly respectful, low pressure.

Okay so we're all on board...I can cook up the OOC by tonight, outline the basics of everything. In the meantime, you guys can mull over character ideas/images. Do you have an idea of what gender you'll go with? It'll help me figure out my two roles since I'll round off the genders to keep it even (assuming neither of you are doubling).

@Genkaiare the corrector/character pairs not typically the same gender?? I'm sorry your setting is still a bit obscure for me so I'm doing the best I can right now

An example would be:

A 25 year old named Amanda, she would need a CS to go over her history and personality, appearance etc. But Amanda is also a Corrector so she needs an online Avatar. Usually their online identity is their same gender for simplicity's sake but on rare instances their gender is swapped. The Avatar in turn can look vastly different from the person controlling it. The Avatar has special abilities the real world would never be able to support, like an Avatar could wield two large katana and be able to making large bolts of fire by striking them together towards an enemy.

Another example would be a 24 year old named Milo, he would need a CS but his Avatar named Dysox would also need a CS due to them being two different personas. A Corrector has two of these because it's their job. A normal person in society would not be able to create and control an Avatar due to the physical risks involved, and the fact the public is unaware of said technology. A Corrector is a normal person most of the time but when work calls, they enter the Digital World as their other persona to fight.

Does that make better sense?

@GenkaiBeautiful. I'll start ruminating as soon as I pass this anthro test and make it to the weekend. My evening is booked tonight so you'll have to stick with me.

Hmm... I was thinking a former hacker Data Procurement Specialist turned counter-hacker? With his Avatar best following the 'Rogue' end of the RPG Class trinity

I don't thin the Correctors would be tied to technology (in my last paragraph up top it touch on this) since it would make trouble should they get too wise, which will happen in this story. If your character has a mild interest but lacks skill to say hack, that would be okay but the government doesn't want anyone to get "wise" so to speak.

And a rouge type Corrector would work fine with me.

I'm being super lazy tonight so I won't get the OOC up until tomorrow night at the latest. :/
