As I discussed with you on discord. For the most part its a repeat of a character I tried to play elsewhere, so let me know if something doesn't fit.

Looks good. This character might well be Collins' comms guy or a part of the squad. Gunther and I will work out how to work that angle, but he's good to post up. I am particularly excited to get a Rhodie in there with SADF experience so he is approved.

So is yours @Asura

That said, we're going to get this show on the road.

I'll write that first post on my lunch break. @Gunther and I will be shaking out what the squad (or platoon at this point) is going to look like.

Also, I think it's best to start working out who wants to collab together for posts and work that out. If we're going have three squads and some NPC's, we'll sort of be looking to some of our senior NCO characters to be squad leaders.

Role/Equipment TBD, just tell me what you need.

-----

Name: Aslan Abdulbekovich Dzhabrailov.
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/Nationality: Chechen/Russian
Former Unit: Starshina in the Zapad Battalion, GRU Spetsnaz.
Role: TBD

Physical description: Stands some 6’2 tall with a slim, lean build.

History: Aslan was born in a pissant village in the mountains South of Grozny to his father, a local police chief and his second (polygamous) wife. (The Dzhabrailov family consisted of Papa Abdulbek, two wives, and thirteen children.) As the USSR collapsed, life in rural Chechnya didn’t change much until in 1991 Chechnya was declared an independent state. His father became embroiled in the chaotic politics of the new state as he opposed the declaration of independence but said he would not oppose President Dudayev.

Aslan grew quickly in his youth, and with his 5’10 he was deemed fit enough to join the Jihad against Russia in 1996, merely aged 14. Aslan had his first tastes of battle during the Shatoy Ambush and the subsequent Battle of Grozny. During the period of De Facto independence in Chechnya, a mixture of arms trading and controlling the border with Georgia made Aslan and his family rather well-off. However, the dream of an independent Chechnya quickly collapsed as Arab and Afghan Mujahideen took over the little statelet, and the local government proved incapable of performing the most basic tasks of governing a country. As the economy collapsed, these crime bands resorted to kidnapping and trading in drugs and (Russian) slaves. Abdulbek tried to use his power to prevent this, but one Jihadist band found this to be a good opportunity to get rid of him – kidnapping his wives and two of his daughters and demanding either two million dollars or Abdulbek’s death or exile for their safe return. Because his death or exile wouldn’t guarantee this safe passage, all the men and boys gathered what money they could which totalled around $400,000 less than what was demanded. The kidnappers agreed to accept this sum and returned their hostages, battered and defiled.

The Dzhabrailov and their clan swore to work for the end of these people ever since. Their time, however, would come. Abdulbek began to command a certain moral authority on top of his temporal power as police chief and became something of a feudal lord of his region, protecting the people there in return for food, money, services, or whatever he needed at the time. It was in that capacity that he could join arms with the Russians in the 1999-2000 war in Chechnya. Although their combat power was limited, it proved to be a severe headache for the anti-Russian forces in the region. By the time the war ended by the summer Aslan wanted to weigh his options, but time for that was cut short as his father was assassinated by Anti-Russian insurgents. Aslan, with no skills and not having spent a day in school after he turned 8, had no future except for doing what he always had done; fight. He decided to join the Russian Army and streamed to the GRU Spetsnaz.

His exact service history is a mystery, however. He rarely, if ever, talks about it but between all the black lines in the reports it can be deduced he served as an operator in the Northern Caucasus Insurgency and dodged fair few charges of war crimes. The part with even more black lines hint to service with GRU troops in Ukraine. There’s also one with less black lines, which detail service in Syria as a Forward Air Controller attached to various Syrian Army units and independent operations such as VIP capture, hostage rescue, and sabotage.

Skillset:
-Usual forms of enhanced interrogation.
-Fluent in Russian, Chechen, and English. Understanding of Arabic and Turkish.
-Trained in Systema and Sambo.
-Insurgent and Counter-Insurgency warfare.
-Unusual forms of enhanced interrogation.
-Search and Rescue training
-Long Range Reconnaissance
-Forms of enhanced interrogation that are only enhanced interrogation in answers to the press
-Small Unit Tactics
-First Aid

Psychological Profile:
Arslan’s perception of the world has been shaped by war and is always viewed through the lens of conflict. In every long-term social environment he looks to identify an in-group of people who deserve his trust regarding everything he or those dear to him own, and emotionally walls himself off to those who come from outside of that. In this case, the people in Centurion are his in-group.

Arslan has a deeply collectivist view of his team. It cannot be stronger than its weakest link, and thus slacking is something to be avoided at any point any degree of seriousness is required. To people who he does not open himself up, even those in his in-group, he will seem very cold until he finds common ground on a personal level, when he will warm up. He remains, however, embittered and is hard to activate into someone jovial. However, he remains a religious (Sufi) Muslim in spite of his experiences – he perceives no justice in this world, so he hopes and prays that there is in the next.

@HeySeuss and I were talking about making this a platoon instead of a "squad" or "team" sized operation. The number or RPers in here is growing large. It is better for people to have a few NPCs they can control or work with a smaller group within the larger RP.

As far as organization goes, I like to add some realism, but I think most people feel that a bit confining. How about the organization looks like this:

Platoon Headquarters
Platoon Leader
Platoon Sergeant
Asst Platoon Sergeant
Radio-Telephone Operator/Forward Observer (for calling in mortars, artillery or talking to drone pilots)

3x 13-man squads. Let the squads look like however you'd like to make them. We originally based this off a USMC rifle squad of 13 men, but even Special Operations units occasionally operate in 12-man teams that operate quite differently than the Corps.

For your edification:

I would also like to add a Weapons squad containing anti-armor specialists and General Purpose Machine gun crews.

Weapons Squad
Squad Leader
Machine Gunner (GPMG)
Assistant Gunner
Machine Gunner (GPMG)
Assistant Gunner
Anti-Armor Gunner
Anti-Armor Gunner

This organization deploys a total of 50 people. We can bring in plenty of NPCs to fill in the open slots. This will help those people who may want to have their own fireteam, or those who all want to be grouped together.

NOTE: Green slots are leadership roles.

Hello everyone, so the first post is up and here's the drill.

1. People need to decide how they are grouped in the platoon organization as provided by Gunther. Take a fireteam or squad lead position, and file in where you see fit. You can devise NPC's under your character. That's your call. Also, you can stack up with other characters as you see fit. For example, Danny Shattah is definitely working for Brian Park.

2. Posting protocol; We want to see a post once a week around here. Instead of feeling pressured to crank out 3,000 words, I want you to consider three paragraphs covering about a minute's worth of actions to be considered the baseline for this RP. We do not need to move too far ahead here and we do not need to be dropping off because we aren't feeling a massive post and don't want to 'disappoint.' Posts do not disappoint -- not posting disappoints. So I want people to think in terms of three paragraphs. Interaction is key, and short posts are best for that.

(Yes, I know I posted a monster of a first post, but that's to get you guys to where we are.)

3. That said, if you want to do a long post, please do. Nothing's stopping you. The baseline exists so we know ahead of time what the post expectations are. We want to keep it moving, we aren't a snobbish critic society that goes, "Oh, well, that post was so barebones. What a rube." Also, in the vein of larger posts, consider using Discord to host discussions and then hit piratepad or similar to actually collaborate.

4. Sign up for Squad/Fireteam roles -- feel free to take over as leadership.

That is really all. I want this RP to do well and I want to keep everyone on board. I hope that a frank discussion of what we're looking for here helps ease the way. This is Advanced, but I am not worried about post length. I am worried about player engagement.

@HeySeuss and @Gunther Go ahead and put Atwater where ever you want/need him, as a CMT/Paramedic here I don't really know where to put him on the Spreadsheet, but as a T1 SF operator he can pretty much go anywhere here.

Just pick a spot, I say. Talk to your fellow players and decide where that might work. Where you go determines the playstyle. If you're working with a number of people, you're looking at collab posting. If you are running a fireteam full of NPC's, then you have more room to maneuver larger groups into place and employ them and determine their loadout and so forth.

I also shifted around from that grenadier role to 'rifleman' to open more rifleman slots.

The m203 is freely available to anyone that's gonna pop one on their weapons, and I think most characters will to increase squad firepower. Our grenadiers are more dedicated, using the m32 as their primary weapon -- that is a rotary grenade launcher that can lay down rapid fire as necessary.

He can be an attachment. It would not be listed in this organization. The Platoon medic follows the Platoon Sergeant around. If no one wants the "Platoon Daddy" position, make an NPC of one and stick to him until someone needs attention.

Check the Centurion PMC organization linked above. I added a Platoon Medic to the Platoon Headquarters and added Atwater there.

The way things are, there's lots of room since we switched from squad to platoon. So go ahead.
