When it comes to an IFV I'd think our primary concerns should be a modular weapon system, as well as amphibious capability. Anything that can't swim should probably be disqualified, if only because it then means we need some sort of additional transport capability to get across, and we do want as small a footprint as possible.

Maybe a BTR-90 or BTR-94 would be better fits than a BMP-3, if you're looking to pull something out of the east.

And regardless, we have the issue of a ridiculously small capacity...

Time to be a bit nationalistic. For your consideration, the Terrex

It carries 12 troops, is air portable and amphibious and carries a variety of armaments, all remote operated. 7.62 MGs to 40 mm grenade launchers to ATGMs.

Mmmm, now there is an IFV/APC I could get behind. It holds 12 troops! I know they would be very uncomfortable, but if all else, we could have five per platoon. It would be a far cry better than the Bradley, Namer, BMP-3 or BTR-90 where we would need 8 per platoon.

With three platoons in the company, that would be either 24 versus 15 vehicles + 2 for the Company Headquarters.

We could two people from the squad to be the driver and TC the way the US Army operates their Mech units or create Amphibian Assault Battalion like the USMC and have units with just driver and TC. If you take two guys away from the squads to be driver and TC it drops the number of dismounted infantry from 13 to 11. Fine by me and we have plenty of NPCs to take on the role of driver and Vehicle Commander (TC).

I'm on board with the Terrex. Also, Grathik materials can probably make it lighter, VI-assisted and create more space for a full squad and maybe get crew down to a single person. We can replace the Puma with that. I think being able to bolt different weapons on the turret is important too.

Yes, I was looking for a starting platform. With Grathik improvements, this could be much better. More than likely the Terrex has an Aluminum hull similar to the M113. This armor can stop small arms except for .50 cal (12.7mm) but nothing larger. The engine block can stop a .50 cal slug, but then the vehicle is done. If a .50 cal round were to penetrate the side of the hull, hte first impact slows the projectile down enough so that it cannot exit. The projectile will bounce around the inside of the vehicle for a bit penetrating all soft fleshy objects contained within.

I have begun writing my next post. I will wait for Noxious to post before I put it up.
Briefly, this is my intent: I have the Support Element/Base of Fire element (1st & 2nd Squad & two MG teams) laying down a withering fire for two full minutes before the assault element moves through the kill zone.

This is a sweet little ride...

I like the Battle Management system. The vehicle commander and driver do not need to ride with the hatches open. They remain buttoned up and still have an awesome view of the exterior as long as the cameras remain intact. The US Stryker system has this BMS intelligence system also.

I'd like a roll call of who is still with us. If people need posting help or info, our Discord is a good resource.

Gah, so, seriously I thought I'd be a desk jockey today but it turns out I was working on setting up all the computers in the shop and dealing with the BS that is cable management for a group of assholes who don't throw anything away. I literally found a cable from a phone system we were using over 5 years ago. Gunther, if you want to post I can catch up from there. I really don't want to hold y'all up but I am definitely still in. Just busy. :(

We can hold up if necessary, you aren't the only person we are waiting on. I am not in a rush, I just want to make sure people are still engaged so we can hold up for them.

I've opted to command the weapons squad.

@Gunther can you give us a really basic run down of commo protocol, particularly callsigns? I would have assumed that the leader of of 1st platoon would be Dagger One Six.

@Gunther can you give us a really basic run down of commo protocol, particularly callsigns? I would have assumed that the leader of of 1st platoon would be Dagger One Six.

I've assigned the proword Dagger to our Company. So everyone in the company has that proword for a call sign.

The Company Commander is 06
The Executive Officer is 05
The Sergeant Major/First Sergeant is 07
Any other Company level assets would be 0X with the X meaning whatever section they were in.

First Platoon Leader is 10
Second Platoon Leader is 20
Third Platoon Leader is 30

First Squad Leader is X1 (X being either 1, 2 or 3 depending on the platoon)
Second Squad Leader is X2
Third Squad Leader is X3
Weapons Squad Leader is X4
Platoon Sergeant is X5

The RTO will have a letter following the callsign of the leader he is following. It could be anything. Like the First platoon leader's RTO could be Dagger 10B or Dagger one zero Bravo. When the platoon leader himself gets on the radio he may say, "This is Dagger one zero actual," to denote that it is really the PL and not the RTO. The numbers are enunciated individually over the radio. The PL is one zero, not ten. The first squad leader is one one, not eleven.

@Reaper@Lord Shaxx

Reaper, your choice if you want your drone to see a reinforcing element following this potential "Advance Party". I believe @HeySeuss would like this to be a larger engagement. It was pretty overwhelming so far.
