"Hmm, that would be a great idea." Fasuto nodded then blinked at those sniffing insects. "Say, I've never encountered them before, are they only found here?" Fasuto asked in wonder, his spider visibly sighing. "And the sandy-salt or whatchamacallit again? I only remember it as silvery dust. Are they only found here?" He asked again. "Just tell me if you don't want any questions, I don't want to bother you." He said, shrugging his shoulders as he looked at the gigantic ant-like monsters. He summoned blackwood short rod with a huge purple gemstone at the end. "I still prefer using wands than paws."

Rughoi's makeshift army had formed quickly. The situation had been ripe for the picking; he just happened to be the right kobold in the right place at the right time. The region was already lawless, and many Traeton's soldiers had been willing to sell him their services for cheap. Given how long it was since many of them were last paid, this was no surprise. Some of these men were siege engineers, and they were more than willing to teach their kobold counterparts in exchange for a share of the spoils.

One of Rughoi's "generals" was a tribal chief by the name of Rama. He had been waiting for an opportunity like this for years. Traeton's king had hired out his men as laborers in exchange for pay, and they hadn't received any of it for years.

"Sire! I have returned." Rama knew that these grandiose titles were something of a game. Most kobolds were gullible enough to taken in by them, and Rughoi's status as a half-dracon gave him a built-in advantage in terms of size and the prestige which went with it. To many kobolds, he must have appeared to be blessed by the dragons, giving their actions done under his command a sort of divine sanction.

He looked at Largon for a moment and laughed, his laughter temporarily disrupting his report to Rughoi. "Oh... sorry about that, my lord. Anyway, my scouting is complete. My tribe reports that the Rockblade and Red Shadow dracon tribes are willing to assist us in attacking the city. They've agreed to provide a distraction for us. If we attack from underneath the city, they are willing to attack the walls at the same time, so as to draw the city's forces away from us. Once we get in the city, we can open the gates. Once that happens, it will be over fairly quickly. The main issue now is how we are going to divide the spoils. Your other allies have given me a list of demands, if I may read them."

@Eviledd1984

"We have a guest room for you. On the second floor, near the stairs" Adykon explained. "And there's no need to avert your eyes. All of the females in a dracon household are dressed like Aerta is now. No one is offended if you look at them. Just don't stare. We'll be having breakfast at nine in the morning tomorrow, so please get some sleep."

Looking at one's feet was a sign of embarrassment among the dracons, so it gave a rather humble impression when Smith did it.

@WingsOfBronze

"They can be found in a number of places, but these are of particularly high quality. For our purposes, these are the best" Ophion explained. "The creatures here aren't so dangerous. Let me show you." He planted his feet firmly on the sandy ground and pointed his right hand at one of the "ants." He spread his three fingers and thumb apart so that his palm was facing the beast, and formed a yellow-orange-white fireball.

The flame shot out and hit the creature, killing it and sending the others scurrying. "Don't feel guilty for killing them, by the way. They're just like overgrown roaches. And no, I am not sure if they are endemic to the dracon lands."

Smith was nodding his head thanking the two of them for their kindness, Although he would have to say something to apologize for being rude."Thank you sir...and i am sorry" He said now making his way to his room where he would be sleeping. Once their he took off some of his heavy clothing as well as taking of his tunic and putting on his sleeping underwear while going underneath the soft sheets closing his eyes.

Soon enough he would fall asleep and dream of his mother and Kara walking though the forest and then meeting his father who berated him with insults, Shaking and sweating feeling the dream getting worse.

Aerta went to sleep first, knowing that she'd need all of her magic in order to deal with the challenges in the days ahead. Adykon stayed up for a while longer, writing letters to some of their allies, including Ophion. If they needed to call on them, Aerta would simply teleport the letters out there. "Ophion... Rhiga... Vespion... Mazdak..." he paused for a moment before writing the final one. "Ternoc." He also had a list of letters for most of his grown sons: Larek, Caex, Veax, and Kosjurec. He'd call them only if he really needed them, as they were newly-minted fathers. Probably just Kos.

Although the night Smith was having his bad dream of being a young boy and being yelled at by his father for using magic and wanting to go into the forest to see his mother."Your mother is never coming back" He could still hear the yelling making Smith turn and pant softly feeling the dream becoming worst.

The image of Kara running away form him in a forest was making him sweat even more so then before.

"Oh, okay.." Fasuto blinked at the magic, he stared at his finger formation. Later he shrugged it off. "I thought gigantic ants are hard to deal with. Maybe just expectations." He chuckled as he conjured a white orb, it was shining white and it seems to be made of plasma, he released it and it hits the ants in the body, the part that was hit vanished. "Is that basic fire magic? The one you did earlier?" He asked. "They still looked tough." He said.

Adykon finally went to bed himself, pulling up the sheets next to Aerta and getting comfortable. As expected, he rested his head on the side of the pillow to prevent it from being punctured by his sharp horns. Luckily, dracons had long since learned to make their pillows and cushions quite durable. It was a must among a species with sharp horns and claws.

@WingsOfBronze

"Basic? Not quite. It's nothing too advanced" Ophion clarified. "Good shot, by the way. Now, follow me" he led the fox to the sands and he knelt down, lifting his right hand and opening it up once more. A brief flash of white light tinged with blue heralded the teleportation of a wooden bowl small enough to fit neatly in the palm of his hand.

"We just scoop up the sand like so..." he demonstrated it to Fasuto, careful to fill the entire bowl with the Argentine substance. "And I then teleport it back. If you visit my place, the bowl will be there, probably still filled with the sand. If Aurescia doesn't use it first. Any questions?"

Before he asked, Fasuto already mimic'd what he did with a porcelain bowl behind him. He looked at him blinking. "Oh uh.. done?" He chuckled. "I can make them appear and disappear if I want but if I make them appear, it takes magic so.. let's do it fast?" He was once again unsure.

"Once you fill up a bowl, just give it to me, please. I know where to send it. My wife is waiting for the silver extracts. Still, if you can- GET DOWN!" Ophion whirled around to shoot another of the rust spitters, but several more came up from behind them.

Smith was still having his bad dream that was slowly fading away as his whole body was covered in sweat as his dream moved towards something a big more pleasant. His mother and what it would have been like if he had lived with her as a child, Covering himself with the blanket as soon enough the morning sun came with the young man still in his bed dreaming.

"Get what?" He asked as he looked behind, his eyes widened as a gigantic ant nearly crushed him under it's weight. He dodged suddenly, leaving the bowl there as it gets crushed to pieces. "Holy crap." He said, his heart pounding. Lightning bolts hit the gigantic ant-like creature, he blinked as he looked at his wand. He didn't do that. He looked at his shoulder and he saw his spider angry.. and scared.

"This, as well as Largon's men, the kobold militias . . . the city is ours," Rughoi chuckled. "I am impressed, Rama. In this glittering epoch of our people, I need capable leaders like you on my side. Go on, read me those demands." Rughoi, thinking to himself, decided that no matter what they were, he doubted he would go through with them anyway. Already, another scheme was forming in his head.

(We can synchronize the time later if we have to, so please don't worry if things get out of order)

@Eviledd1984

The next morning...

Adykon and his sons woke first, as they almost always did. Female dracons needed more sleep, and he made sure they would get it. Even so, one of the females rose before the others. Kara was up only a few minutes after her father. She did her stretches, making sure to perform them under the light of the sun. She took some time to rub her feet and legs to warm up the muscles, and then she went to wash up, knowing that breakfast would have to be prepared before the family's work and chores on the farm. The children had to get to school, which was located in a small village a couple of kilometers down the road. Luckily, Aerta made sure that they had enchanted stones which could teleport them directly to and from the schoolhouse. They were two-way stones with a limited charge and could only be used to go between their farm and the school.

Aerta met up with Kara in the kitchen. They were making the usual breakfast for the family: a mix of warm flat breads covered in honey, slabs of pork covered in the usual mix of salt and spices, pitchers of fresh milk, a basket of fruit (containing grapes, figs, dates, and slices of apples and oranges), some honey-glazed chicken, and a copious serving of oatmeal cooked with milk and sugar. Their living room consisted of several sets of tables. Formal occasion called for the use of their large rectangular table hewn from fine mahogany, with Adykon's seat clearly at the head, as indicated by its greater height.

Most meals called for the use of a lower round table. Instead of the formal chairs, this table made use of soft cushions for seating. The food was placed in the middle, and anyone could take what they wanted in whatever quantity they desired. There were three round tables in total, one for the family in general, one for smaller meetings, and one for the younger children. Today, they were eating at the main round table, with the youngest being seated separately, where they would be watched over by one of Adykon's younger daughters.

Adykon made sure to reserve an extra seat for Smith, who was still asleep by the time the food started cooking.

@WingsOfBronze

"Is that a familiar on your shoulder?!" Ophion didn't take any action to attack the large spider he saw on Fasuto, but he was prepared to if it posed a threat. He had other things to worry about as several more rust creatures began approaching, some advancing over the ground, others burrowing up from out of the sand. He shot down two more, causing the horde to pause in its approach for now. Then, as if guided by an unseen signal, they began firing their acid at the ground right in front of the two mages, creating small burn marks in the soil around them.

@bloonewb

Rama read off a a list, which had been crudely written in a very rough form of draconic. The parchment on which it had been inscribed was quite fine, having been recently "liberated" from a looted mansion near the city of Traeton.

"Rockblade wants one twentieth of the spoils. Red Shadow wants one-fifteenth. I talked them down from a tenth. They might be persuaded to take one twentieth as well if there's a lot of plunder. The other tribes want between one and two percent of the looted goods. I had to convince them that if they wanted any more, there would be nothing left. The city's turncoat soldiers and guards want their unpaid salaries plus an indemnity on top of that. I believe their back wages could be paid with about a tenth of the loot plus a chance to steal things from the royal palace. The royal treasury itself is another matter, as it isn't counted in the loot so far. We've been over this with the other groups, and most of them recognize the need to keep what little money the city has intact if we're going to run the place following the takeover. However, if we don't have enough to satisfy all the parties, we may just have to dig into the treasury anyway. This will make running the city harder. We're getting the city's problems as well as its loot. Taking over the city is one thing, the really hard part will be finding people who can run it. I don't know how willing the city's officials and scribes are to follow our orders once we're in charge. Paying for defenses will also be an issue, as I suspect we will come under attack not long after we take the city. We'll have taken casualties by then and unless we can repair and staff the defenses, we will be easy prey for a full-strength dracon army."

Rama paused for a moment, looking for any sign of reaction from Rughoi or the others assembled there. Seeing none, he continued.

"So, to increase the share of the loot for your core army, I would suggest looting the city's temples. Don't take too much, as it might incur the wrath of the gods. Instead, I would propose that their temples be rededicated to kobold deities, and that temples which have gods shared in common by dracons and kobolds be left as intact as possible. As for my tribe, I would be happy with a three percent cut of the goods plus first dibs on anything taken from the catacombs early on. Now, were there any questions?"

Smith was still asleep finally walking up rubbing some gunk form his eyes slowly waking up even though around this time he was having such a nice dream. Wearing his undergarments and nothing else being shirtless as he walked down the stairs towards the kitchen. Just as he came into the room right away he had avert his eyes form where Kara was looking down at his feet, He was trying not to offend anyone by see the shirtless form of his crush.

"Good morning" He said keeping his eyes down towards his feet as he made his way to a chair sitting down, Quickly looking towards Adykon giving him a soft nod of his head.

"Oh. Morning, Smith. I was just telling the others that you came over early last night. I'm glad you are with us and-"

"Smithy!!" Kara ran over to the human, giving him a big hug in rather ostentatious display which caused Aerta to chuckle.

"-and my little Kara is happy to see you. Not so little anymore. She's a grown female now."

"Just keep your loincloths on. We've got kids in the room." Aerta admonished them.

"How are you?Long time no see eh" He said now going back to sitting down in his chair.

"I'm good! Happy that you're here! I read the signs and they told me someone special would come into my life again, and here you are!" Kara broke the hug only after a long while.

Adykon couldn't help but chuckle at it. "No need to look so embarrassed, Smith. You can see Kara as long as she welcomes your attention." Something told Adykon that she'd give Smith quite a bit of it.

"She'd mind if you didn't pay her some attention" Aerta explained. "Go on, don't be shy." Adykon and the others took their seats at the round tables and began dishing out the food. Kara sat next to him, putting her tail behind him and curling it around his torso a little bit, so that the tip of her tail was touching the left side of his stomach. She said nothing with her mouth, but the amorous look on her face said it all.
