Ruby Doer

It took a second for what Ruby to say to sink in, but when it did, Ruby got to see Regis' true colors as he was barely able to hold himself back from insulting her for giving her opinion. She sighed, thinking she should have went on but oh well, too late for that now. But then, just like that, he was, seemingly sincerely, thanking her for her help. What was with this guy. She was thinking about if she should actually say anything else to Regis or walk off before he could act anymore like... Himself, when she heard a familiar voice behind her.

She quickly turned and smiled when she finally saw Korrey coming, slowly, towards her with his luggage. And boy did he have a lot of it. Ruby was about to greet him back when Regis laughter interrupted her. She looked over to see Regis practically dying of laughter. And what he managed to get out next was even worse.

Ruby just took a breath and pushed her dolly over to Korrey's. "Here, let me take some of that, I have room on my dolly. And it's good to see you too! And him? That's Reginald or something." She told him with a shrug. "He was just telling me about himself in great detail." She added, empathizing the great detail bit. She wasn't going to be outright rude as he had been with her and especially Korrey, but she allowed herself her own pinch of salt.

Ruby was then trying to see which pieces of luggage would best fit on her own dolly when someone else came over, looking for Korry this time. Ruby felt like she had seen this girl around last year, but just like Regis, couldn't place the name. Thankfully she didn't have to read the most pompous speech about her to find out that her name was Anelise, and was also a friend of Korrey's.

"Hello, I'm Ruby." Ruby introduced herself, not sure what to say to a fellow friend of her friend. "I'm um, also a friend of Korrey's." She didn't say anything about Regis and instead went back to focusing on the luggage situation.

Nancy Jones

Nancy smiled brightly as Monty turned to see and also smiled. It was hard to believe that just a year ago, Monty had been so scared of her... Until she offered him some cookies that she had baked. Ever since the two of them had been great friends! Speaking of friends, the twin's newest friend seemed to be leaving as well. She hoped she hadn't scared him off or something. Oh well, all of them would probably see him later.

Before Nancy could say anything, Felicity was flying into her arms to get a hug. Nancy snuggled her pretty energetic friend because Felicity hugs were indeed the best kind of hug. "It's great to see both of you!" she told them both as she finally let Felicity go. "I had a good summer! I can't wait to tell you about it! But Monty's right, we should get going." When the twins came forward to try and help with her luggage, Nancy shook her head. "Nah, it's fine guys, I got it. Thanks, though." She added with another bright smile.

As they walked up the street (her and Monty trying to keep up with Felicity's eager steps) she did her best to keep up with her friend's excited chit chat. "I don't really care who my partner is as long as I can get along with them. And I did! You did such a good job on it, Felicity, I'm proud of you!" then she turned to Monty, "And did you have fun over summer break, Monty? And who are you hoping to get as a partner?"

Waiting, waiting, and waiting still, Nathan stared down at his phone as the other students began to excitedly get up around him in preparation as they neared their destination. How noisy they were... it was as if they've never been to a school before. St. Fortuna's Academy for the Higher Arts was prestigious, Nathan knew that, but he also knew a lot of the people on the train were returning students. It almost made him glad that he had brought along headphones in an attempt to block out the noise they were making as the train station pulled into view. As the train pulled to a stop, he reached for the checkered black bag beside him, taking off his headphones and placing them inside. He used the camera on his phone to do one last checkup on his appearance: A rich, black hat with a checkered pattern at the base, a black suit and pants with a gray vest and white dress shirt underneath, along with a blue tie and flats. It wasn't his ideal outfit, in fact, it was far from it, but his parents wouldn't send him off without deciding what he'd be wearing on his first day, as they didn't want him to look anything less than fancy so as to make a good impression for the family. Once he got a room, he told himself that he'd definitely change into something else.

He felt like he was among the last to exit off the bus, having watched as countless other students ran out before him, causing the young man to sigh and shake his head. There was only one way for them to go, and they had plenty of time to get there. It wasn't like they could sneak off and go explore the town, and if they wanted to, he didn't know why. Today was important, extremely important for a familiar like himself... It was the day he'd get a partner. The very thought made him shudder in a mixture of excitement and fear... To be paired up with someone he knew from last year would be a blessing, but to be paired up with someone he didn't know or would grow to feel annoyed by made him scared. This was someone he'd be spending a great deal with, maybe even forever if things went that far, and in his mind, he hoped for something good, someone calm, someone quiet...

Maybe even Anelise. Yes, that name rung a bell inside his head as he walked calmly and quietly, luggage rolling beside him. She was smart, she was quiet, and they had studied together a lot last year. To him, her company was greatly appreciated, and he hoped a little inside that she would return this year. Maybe he'd sign up for music class, no, he would definitely sign up for music class. He knew she was a pretty good singer, and he himself liked to sing as well. So either way, it would be a win to sign up for it as his first elective, even if he and Anelise didn't get paired up. But then, if not Anelise, who...

He shook his head, feeling it was pointless to try and theorize who'd he get paired up with for the sacramentum. Besides, he believed all it would do was cause him to doubt or become worried, which was the last thing he really needed. It was important, but hoping for one outcome would only lead to disappointment. So instead, he wondered how the year itself would actually go.

'It'll be necessary that I refine my ability... Along with becoming more physically active and to study.' He told himself, staring down at the ground below him. He wondered if he should try to run, to go unsuppressed and take to the winds so that he would arrive sooner... But that thought was immediately shot down he looked upwards, seeing the streets filled with other students ahead. If he tried to go as fast as he could, he definitely knew there'd be quite a few collisions... And they'd probably all break something. Super speed, useful when alone or running late to class, not so useful in everyday life. Maybe this year he'd attempt to increase his reflexes to acclimate to the increase in speed, thus making a situation such as this easy to get through.

Though in the end, he simply shrugged and continued to walk at a steady pace. He was in no rush to get there at the moment, and at this pace, he knew he wouldn't be late nor early. Just simply in the middle...

Marth Carter

Annoyance and disruption was all that was heard while Marth was on the train, from people talking about what they did during the break, to slight roughhousing, and even a man reciting a speech about himself. The snow white haired boy just wanted to finish his contract and get this day over with.

The train came to a stop at the station and out emerged a large boy, Marth sat there taking in the atmosphere . A cool breeze blew, his grey hoodie's strings flapping in the wind, his pants pockets filling with air, his silky hair full of life. This was a good feeling, something game changing was going to conspire soon, as other students rushed off the train they bumped into the young man, slowly annoying him. Walked over to pick up his luggage but it seemed to be crowded with other people who were in frenzy. Tilted his head and moved them out the way with his sheer force, slicing through the Crowd and pulling out his 3 duffel bags and a suitcase. He put 2 of his bags around his body and carried the remaining luggage in each hand. "Ill mannered runts". Marth kept walking looking around at the city, it had been a little while since he been here, this year he had a lot to accomplish, hopefully the mage that he will contract too isn't annoying.

He started the trek up solo since Marth wasn't exactly a social butterfly, before passing by a large boy talking to a small girl. You could read the uneasiness on the boys face by the way his eyes darted around , he is bigger then me and this girl makes him quiver then came a taller man. Marth had recognized that face but from where exactly? The white haired boy made brief eye contact with the well dressed boy as he walked past, he then turned his forward and continued up towards the academy.

"I could run. But that's not right. I already offered to help with 'er bags. Just ditchin' 'er like that'd be rude. I could make an excuse, but that'd be lame, man! Seems that's the only way out... guess I'll have to tell 'er I'm on fire or somethin'."

Just as Clyde contemplated how he was going to light himself on fire, his saving grace came in the form of a 6'5 tall boy with wavy hair and sharp eyes. He quickly took control of this one way conversation and greeted the girl as if the two were well acquainted with each other.

"Hello Lilac, and good morning. I'm Leo, we've met before at one of your fathers functions?"

He spoke with a comfortable formality but had this constant frown plastered across his face. Clyde momentarily raised a brow before returning his face to normal. Did he do something to make this guy displeased? Clyde looked to himself then back at the other students around him. It was no lie that Clyde lacked fashion sense. Here he was wearing a leather jacket with a simple t-shirt underneath, and all around him were students dressed to the nines. Most importantly, these students looked good in their clothes. The boy was not poor by any means, Hell, his admittance to the academy was proof of his well off background and excellent grades. But the feeling of inadequacy swelled in his chest like the birth of a tornado. Winds of self-doubt drifted above him, twirling, spiraling, wildly gaining momentum as-

"And morning to you as well. Leo de Coeur, and you are . . . ?"

Oh, right. Internal monologues would have to wait until later (and when he's alone). Clyde smiled widely with a friendly demeanor and took Leo's hand with a firm shake. Surprise leaked onto Clyde's face as the handshake was returned with a strong grip, no doubt the boy keeps himself in shape. If there is one thing Clyde can appreciate it's strength.

"Pleasure to meet ya', the both of ya'. Name's Clyde Christopher Lee. Mr. Lee if ya' wanna be formal 'bout it, but Clyde's just fine."

A strong sense of curiosity pinged in his head as he looked at both Lilac and Leo. Specifically, if they were mages or familiars in training. The boy was a strong one, no doubt about that. If he was a familiar, perhaps his ability was tied with athletics. Could he run super fast? Or maybe he could lift over two tons! It was exciting to contemplate what Leo was capable of. If he was a mage, Clyde could see him controlling something like the earth itself, throwing rocks from right underneath the ground, and if he was powerful enough, move entire mountains! It was fun to run through the scenarios. But that gal...

There was definitely something different about her. Not in the normal sense, but something about her terrified Clyde to the very core (though, all women terrify him to the core). There was no way that she was a mere human. No. She is death incarnate. She may be able to hide behind that petite frame and radiant beauty that would make the gods jealous. Clyde could see right through her. She probably had the power to take souls! A demon in disguise, a wolf in sheep's clothing here to feast upon the lambs. And Clyde is not a sheep! His mother told him so when he was three years old. That must be why he felt so weak and powerless near her. She was practically sucking the life from his body-

"Stop thinking that nonsense," Clyde scolded himself. "You're a damn idiot to think she ain't a regular human."

Clyde attempted to smile at Lilac but he caught her eye and quickly backed off.

"Death, destroyer of worlds, spare this husk of a man."

Talia Nitro

Talia was happy to see someone she knew even if it was online, she felt more at home already. She looked over at Beatrice when she started to introduce herself. She thought that she looked nice. Talia was about to explain her situation but then Beatrice mentioned something about the possibility of dating. Talia immediately blushed a bit and looked away then looked back at her all worked up. "Yeah, we're just friends, Nothing more..!" She thought she had overreacted but then she looked at Richie who was practically going into shock from that comment alone, this relieved her that she didn't overreact too much. She still felt a bit uneasy about it as the thought crossed her mind.

"Well it's nice to meet you Beatrice," she said with an upbeat tone. “S-Sorry, Bee is just joking. I-I’m Richard. Although, I guess that’s been said already. S-So, you go here? I didn’t know you were the same age as me. U-Um, Bee- I mean Beatrice is my friend, the one I mentioned was into Overtime as well? She’s a real jester." She was startled by the amount of questions and statements he made at once, seemingly anxious to get the conversation moving. "Oh yea... I recently got transferred to here from a local school back where I'm from." The mention of her age was a touchy subject to her, since it always brought up that she had to repeat a grade, and this embarrassed her a bit. "And yeah, I think I do recall you mentioning some 'Bee' person multiple times, almost as if you like talking about her....." Upon the offer to walk with them she quickly accepted happily. "anyway yea i'd love to walk with you guys."

As they were walking her hair started to come down a bit so she put it back up in its usual style, raised in the back and draping down. Her phone buzzed and she checked her Picto, just something from a friend back home. She then took a photo of herself. "This one is going on my Epic (aka picto story), so Richie you excited about the ceremo- oh wait do you know what your ability is yet..? because mine has not manifested" She sighed in a bit of disappointment.

Elena

As Elena stepped off of the train, having just awoken from a nap she had taken on the train ride over, the girl noted the large swath of people that were pushing their way through the crowd to get to their things. Giving a slight frown at the thought of having to move through a sea of people, a short moment later she rolled her eyes at the situation and, deciding there was no way to avoid it, began pushing her way through fellow students in order to get to her two suitcases of things. Being stronger than some of the less physically active students trying to move forward, Elena was more easily able to push some of the others out of the way as she moved forwards. Though this garnered her some looks, a few dirty glances, and a few people barking in frustration as she moved forwards, she eventually managed to make her way to the baggage claim and grabbed up her two suitcases in each hand.

Beginning to make her way up the hill, Elena tried to maintain a steady but somewhat hurried pace, hoping to get ahead of the rest of the crowd so she could get a moment of fresh air before they arrived at the Academy. Admittedly, she had used the train ride to take a nap, having not slept the most the previous night due to the...well, sheer excitement she felt about today. Today was the day of the Sacrementum, when she would be getting partnered with a mage for the school year. As for who that mage would be, she didn't really know for sure. Her power was perhaps not the best among all of them, but she hoped it would be appreciated by whoever she was paired with. If nothing else, her power sure came in handy when recovering from accidental injuries she had sustained at home in the past. For example: when she had accidentally sliced open her palm while trying to cut a cooked steak she had prepared for herself one summer afternoon.

Eventually, the red haired girl noticed three familiar heads in the distance, a smile coming to her face as she did. Hastening her pace a bit more, she nearly began to run as she attempted to catch up to a few of her friends from her first year at St. Fortuna's Academy.

"Hey Fecility! Nancy! Monty!" the athletic girl said, trying to call ahead to the group as she attempted to get their attention whilst continuing her uphill run towards them.

Beatrice

Beatrice gave Richard a half smirk as he started stuttering. She should probably feel a little bad for making him so flustered, but she knew he'd get his revenge somehow. Talia also responded in the negative, looking flustered as well, though not to the extent that Richard was.
"Alright alright, I'm just curious, that's all" She stuck out her tongue at Richard at his glaring, before turning back to listen to Talia. Richard talked about her huh? That was normal, they were each others closest friends after all. Still, that didn't mean she couldn't give him some more light teasing about it.
"Aw, Richard, you talk about me? I'm honored." She teased, smiling up at her unfairly tall friend. That was for making fun of her height all the time. She was at a perfectly average size for a young woman, and she was in no way a midget like her best friend constantly suggested! She glanced back at Talia as the other girl fixed her hair.
"Yeah, Richard and I have been best friends for a long time. He's like my brother! He even gives me advice about cute girls! Not particularly good advice, but I guess it's the thought that counts." It was all true, and she had the words practically memorized by now. Pretty much everyone who had met them was confused about their friendship, and she couldn't blame them. They had started off hating each other after all, and even she didn't completely understand how it lead to them being so close.

When Beatrice was done with her mini-rant, she readjusted her grip on the trunk and began walking with them. She hummed cheerfully, taking in the surrounding scenery. She stopped humming however when Talia mentioned her ability. So hers hadn't manifested either. Beatrice hoped this would encourage her friend to be less disappointed at his late ability. She always reminded him that it was normal to not develop until the sacramentum, but since her own ability had developed fairly early into her first year, she doubted he took her words to heart.

Monty

Monty watched as his twin practically tackled their friend, laughing and raising his eyebrows.
"Careful not to crush poor Nancy, we do want her to stay alive!" He commented, walking up and giving Nancy a light pat on the shoulder. "But it's great to see you, we really missed you."

Monty walked a little faster than usual, trying to keep up with his twin. He smiled fondly as the two chatted back and forth, Felicity asking most of the questions and Nancy answering. He couldn't fault his twin for being excited, between the first day back at school and having their little group together again, Monty couldn't stop himself from smiling stupidly himself. At Nancy's question, he perked up, happy to share the details of his own summer.
"Yeah, I had lots! I've been practicing with those recipes you gave me, and I think I'm getting better! As for the mage part, uh, I'm not sure. I hope I don't get someone too disagreeable, but if I do I’ll just have to make it work I guess.” Before he could say anymore, someone called out to the three of them. Looking back, he saw a girl he recognized from the previous year.
"Oh, hey Elena! What's up?" He called out to her, slowing down so that she could catch up easier.

𝔏𝔢𝔬 𝔍𝔬𝔥𝔫 𝔡𝔢 ℭ𝔬𝔢𝔲𝔯

"The pleasure is mine, Clyde," responded Leo, choosing to address him in a less formal manner - this was school, not a business meeting, he didn't need to put on airs for his peers here.

The first thing Leo noticed was that Clyde had a strong grip - he wasn't surprised, give how obviously muscular the other boy was, but he still found himself approving of the other boy; in a way, he was like the direct opposite of Lilac, which is why he found it all the more strange when Clyde started to freak out after making eye-contact with Lilac once again. The poor boy - and again, he must reiterate how strange it was for him to think of Clyde as such, given the context - was looking at the blonde waif of a girl as though she were the incarnation of evil itself.

Speaking of which, he turned to the girl in question. She was much like he remembered her; small and doll-like, and as quiet as mouse. They didn't talk much, hardly enough to get a good impression of what the other was like, but the girl was behaved, if anything. If he recalled correctly, her parents practically turned the function where they had met as an exhibition for how adorable their little girl was. If it was one thing this girl was lacking, it wasn't doting parents.

"It's nice to see that you still remember me," he said, matching her polite tone easily, "and I'm surprised as you are. You'd think after all that time we spent here we'd have come across each other once."

It was at this moment that he made eye contact with a boy passing just by them. The moment only lasted a second before he moved away, and Leo was otherwise unperturbed by it.

"So, I'll assume that were all second years here?" said Leo, trying to steer the topic into something they could all discuss - mostly for the other boys benefit; really, it would be better if he just excused himself if he was going to act so obviously uncomfortable around Lilac, but as long as he wasn't . . . "That being the case, that'll mean the sacramentum do you two have any plans in place, for your future partners, I mean? As far as I'm concerned, I'd be satisfied with a Familiar that's willing to work with me."

And he really was. He didn't care overmuch for what their abilities were or whatever quirks they had, so long as it wasn't a detriment to their cooperation. While some might wish for a Familiar with a rare ability, or one that complimented their own, Leo was of the mind that those traits mattered little in the long run - even if they were compatible in power, as long as they clashed in will then there was very little that could be achieved. It was thinking like this that led him to believe that it didn't matter what kind of person their Familiar was, so long as they were willing to work with him. He was curious if others held his opinion.

Richard J. Bateman

Richard listened to the back and forth between Beatrice and Talia, helping his much shorter friend carrying her suitcase. They walked up the cobblestone road, passing by flower laden storefronts and cordoned lanes. When Talia brought up him having mentioned Bee a lot, Richard groaned, remembering how people usually interpreted them.

It was very common that when people saw an unrelated boy and girl as close as they were, they assumed they were boyfriend and girlfriend. And there was no polite enough way in the Prydainian language Richard could say “fuck no”. Richard’s idea of a girlfriend was many things, but an overly hyper, meme-loving, insult-slinging lesbian was not one of them. It wasn’t like people hadn’t tried to pair them together. Richard’s grandfather and Beatrice’s parents thought they’d make an interesting match in middle school, perhaps becoming a political powerhouse. But Richard’s lack of interest in politics and Beatrice’s lack of interest in men quickly had that discussion fall apart. Not that Richard would have considered it for a second. The thought of being in a relationship with Beatrice made him want to throw up, laugh, and die all at the same time.

Thankfully, Beatrice “let him down” gently, graciously brother-zoning him. He nodded in agreement, before adding his own two cents in.
“Yeah, Bee and I have known each other since forever. She’s like an annoying little sister, or a toddler I have to keep on a leash.” he remarked, making sure to emphasize the diminutive way he addressed her. He knew her height was her weak spot, and one of his favorite ways to antagonize her.

At being called “Richie”, the redhead tried not to visibly cringe. He hated being called nicknames with an almost allergic reaction. The only people allowed to give him any kind of well-meaning epithet were his parents, who affectionately called him “Dick”. Beatrice made her way around this rule often by using insults in the place of nicknames.
“I-It’s just Richard, actually. A-And I don’t yet. My ability hasn’t manifested.” he confessed, looking down at the ground in some shame.
“I don’t even know what type it is. I just hope it manifests after the sacramentum. I don’t want to weigh down my mage. Are you hoping it’s anything in particular? Bee already has super strength.” he noted, gesturing to the trunk he was helping to carry.

Felicity Goldberg

Strolling down the boulevard with their suitcases in tow, the trio had just made their way to the corner when Felicity heard a familiar call, looking behind her to see another of her friends joining the group.
“Oh! Elena! You’re here! Hooray!” she greeted her, stopping where she stood and waving the redhead over.

She had met Elena, ironically, during their swimming section of their PE class. Because Felicity refused to swim, citing her lack of skill and constantly claiming periods or stomach trouble, their gym teacher had finally given up trying to get the stubborn girl in the pool, and had delegated her to cleanup duty instead. She cleaned the poolside, changed the filters, cleaned the locker rooms, and brought out towels for the people who did swim. She also repaired swimsuits that got torn or didn’t fit correctly, and started drawing sketches of swimsuit designs she might create. She had asked others if they would model her designs for her, and found a willing partner in Elena.

She had kept in touch over FaceTome and Picto over the summer months, and was gleeful to see her friend again so soon. If she wound up being partnered with Elena, that would be great! They could get so much work done together, with Felicity drawing up and creating swimsuit designs, and Elena testing them!
“How was your summer? Did you do anything fun? Are you excited to meet your mage? I’m so pumped to meet my familiar!” she exclaimed, wanting to know every detail that might have been left out over chat.

Korrigan 'Korrey' Umbraisis

Korrey rubbed the back of his head as the diminutive boy Ruby was apparently talking to suddenly burst into laughter. Before he could agree with the guy about the ridiculousness of his situation, however, the kid suddenly decided to insult him out of nowhere, as well as insinuating that his laughable attempts to remember Korrey's name was at all accurate. "Hey now man, no need to be rude. I'm only trying to say hi to my friend, so just chill, 'kay? Also, the name's Korrey."

Turning away from Regis, the familiar turned to address his friend(who he noticed seemed to be extremely(and understandably) annoyed with the smaller student. When she offered to help him, Korrey hesitated slightly, a slight look of stubbornness passing over his features, only to quickly fade away as he let out a defeated sigh. ". . . If you could take the small one tied to the back of the train, that'd be nice. As much as I'd like to do this all by myself, I can't really miss out on getting my partner." Ruffling his hair, the thought of the ceremony brought a smile back on his face, though that smile only grew as he heard a familiar voice call out to him from behind. Giving a short wave as the girl approached, he couldn't help but notice the music blasting out of her headphones. "Nice to see ya Annie and is that one of your songs I hear ya listenin' too?"

Poking her in the side teasingly with a smirk on his face, the red haired familiar would get himself in proper pulling position again as he continued talking. "Anyway, while I'd love to stay and chat with everyone, we've got to get movin' if we want to make it on time to the ceremony, yeah? I don't know about you guys, but I'm excited to see who my partner is going to be!" With that statement, Korrey would get to steppin, moving at a somewhat faster rate than before, but also looking a lot less stressed as he allowed his adrenaline to push him forward.

Lilac de Blanc

"True. It is indeed odd," replied Lilac. "Though perhaps the fault is on me as I rarely bothered to walk around the academy. It's simply too tiring for me."

She looked at his face with her neutral expression. He was just as she remembered him. Tall, stern-looking, and radiating a confident presence. He really carried himself like a prince.

Compared to her, the difference was like night and day. She was nowhere near like a princess. For starters, she wasn't tall enough. Second, she couldn't bear to just smile brightly to everyone she met with. She was never a smiler. She only smiled when she genuinely felt happy for something, like when she was entertained by the books she read. So she would only smile when she wasn't meeting other people (she however never knew that her parents often peeked at her just to see that smile, which pretty much doubled her cuteness). Even when she was little, she was always that quiet child who would glare at the guests from a distance. So she couldn't understand why everyone told her she was cute.

"As for my wishes towards my familiar, I only wish him to be a well-mannered person that would not annoy me. Like you, I wouldn't care what ability he might have. I would mostly use him to learn my spells after all," she answered Leo's question bluntly. She was never good in holding back her tongue.

With a vicious growl, Nathan’s stomach tossed and turned within itself, crying out in hunger that only made Nathan’s eyes get wide for a second from shock. ‘Not now, not now…’ He thought to himself, placing his right hand over his stomach for a brief moment before giving off a disheartened sigh. He had been so preoccupied with the first day shenanigans and preparations, he forgot to eat breakfast! If only the town wasn’t blocked off and heavily supervised to keep kids from exploring, then he could have gone off to eat a quick meal or buy several snacks. And if he had taken enough time, he could have used his ability to catch up to everyone… So long as they were far enough that he wouldn’t have to worry. He wasn’t the best when it came to controlling how long he needed to stop, but it somewhat worked like a car in his mind. Fast, but hard to stop quickly…

Another growl roared, causing Nathan to facepalm. All he needed to do was focus on something instead of thinking about what he’d make or buy, such as a half-fat, no foam latte steamed to a 102 heat… He was quite specific. And with that latte, maybe satisfy his hunger with multiple blueberry scones or muffins… He shook his head no at that, feeling he’d need something a bit more than simple pastries. Perhaps that french dip, or that five cheese ziti al forno he’s eaten before at that one restaurant… mmmm… Just thinking of the possibilities set his stomach on fire with anticipation!

He had to distract his stomach and brain as he walked, or else he'd continue to dwell on food which would just make his hunger worse. He wondered for a bit as he walked alone, attempting to think of a solution that often would consume so much... time...

Of course, he thought, how had he not considered the possibility sooner? Hastily, he pulled out his phone, unlocking the screen with lightning speed and launching the popular game app: Link Duel Go! He hadn't reached the point to choose a team yet, and in fact hadn't really played much of it until recently, but he felt it made perfect sense to play it now. He was moving through a town, and it would let him level up his familiar in-game a bit. He had thought of making a mage just to see what he'd get on a different registered account but ultimately felt having a familiar would be best. After all, maybe he'd find one with his own ability. The game was already helping him ignore his hunger, and while it was only slightly, he could have sworn he didn't feel as hungry as before. Either that or his stomach was starting to give up on him, which was still technically a win... Even if he knew it would only be brief.

Robert Allen:

Weather Mage

As the train slid to a stop, Robert closed his book shut while exhaling. A smile crept onto his face, happy to be back at school. He stood, and slid his literature into his pack, before collecting his luggage and leaving the train, his hands shaking with excitement. This past summer dragged by, taunting him with the sweet promise of finding out more about himself than ever before come its end. He hurried through Enklen, eventually coming upon a blueblood girl, and heard "As for my wishes towards my familiar, I only wish him to be a well-mannered person that would not annoy me. Like you, I wouldn't care what ability he might have. I would mostly use him to learn my spells after all,"

Robert closed his eyes, and counted to ten in his head. That was utterly … infuriating. But he was, of course, better than letting his emotions completely get to him. Still, something as egregious as that simply could not stand. He slowed his pace, and propped up his glasses on his nose. “That’s really not ok to say.” He said quietly and clearly, making the fact that he heard Lilac say that quite clear. “The bond between a mage and their familiar is something to be respected. They’re not there to simply be used by you.” He said, his voice calm, and controlled but cutting at the same time. He stepped next to her, making eye contact, and giving her a chance to rescind her erroneous comment.

Regis Dimitrios

Regis frowned for the span of a second, before resuming his normal smile. There it is again. 'Rude.' For some reason he had heard that a lot recently. Is that some new form of slang? One of those words that gain new meanings? There's a linguistic term for that, he thinks. Regis adds a mental note to check online and see if the dictionary had been updated.

His eyebrows shot up as Ruby casually introduced him incorrectly. Nevermind, perhaps the reason Ruby's suggestion that his script was 'rude' was not because she was secretly some writing mastermind, but because she had some kind of reading deficit or learning disability. After all, his name was clearly written at the top, yet she said his name was Reginald of all things. The entry barrier to St. Fortuna's has truly dwindled. Regis fears for the future of this fine academy.

"It's 'Regis', my visually impaired friend, but I shan't blame you for your disability! And yes, lovely to meet you, Anelise." What a nice girl! Didn't call him 'rude' even once! "And indeed Borrey, let us depart!" Hm? Wait, did he correct Regis on his name...? No way. He wouldn't get two people's names wrong in the span of a minute, his memory isn't that terrible.

Either way, Regis charged on further ahead with his considerably lighter load of luggage, regardless of whether the people followed or managed to maintain the same pace.

Marth Carter

Marth kept on thinking for a while longer of who that guy was, his posture presence could be felt from some ways away. This was gonna bother him for the rest of the day. Marth continued up the pathway, his bags slamming into students who weren't careful of their whereabouts. His bags swinging left and right, a hazard to anyone not paying attention.

In the next couple of hours, the young boy was going to be paired with a mage, he hopes for someone as laid back as him and also respected their spaces. Another thing that he was hoping for choosing his electives, he was quite interested in the monster hunting class that the academy provided. It would benefit him since he is planning to be a mercenary and work in his families guild. He also heard that thet Spar and he was a little eager to see what other students will bring to the table, just thinking about it made him shed a smile, one thing Marth enjoyed were good fighting sessions.

his bag made a wide sway and hit another student who was on his phone, causing the boy to stumble. Marth eyes widened as he was carried away in his thought that he accidentally hit another student, he quickly dropped one of his duffle bags and caught the boy by his wrist so that he didn't fall."Sorry about that, I seemed to have been lost in my track of thought" Marth said towering over the boy in both height and body mass.

Distractions often lead to not so pleasant situations, but how could Nathaniel have expected such an upcoming event? After all, he was lost in the wonderful world of Duel-Link Go, and as such, was minimally paying attention to his surroundings outside of the camera function. Not to say he wasn't at least keeping a decent distance away from everyone, but even then he was slowly but surely faltering in even that aspect. Often he found that he'd get a bit too close for his own comfort, which to some may have been slightly absurd due to how far he still was from another student by a couple feet.

Still, if only that darn monster hadn't caught his eye... causing his feet to move while his brain was fixated on the game in his hands. He didn't even realize that he had gotten rather close to another student while he continued to stare at the phone screen ahead. Inching ever closer, he was excited! It was a rare, surely if he'd defea-

Unfortunately, in what felt like an instant, something swung from next to him and hit the poor soul right in the chest, causing him to stumble backward in a shock and knocking off his fedora, along with letting go of his luggage. He clutched his phone for dear life, not only because he didn't trust his case to protect it, but also partially due to instinct... If a hand hadn't reached out rather quickly and grabbed the wrist that had his phone, he was sure he'd probably have accidently slammed his phone into the ground in an attempt to catch himself. He pulled himself up, his brain starting to piece together what had just happened so that he could bring himself up to speed.

It must have been this student's bag, or else he wouldn't have apologized in the first place. Feeling a light bit of wind hit the top of his hair and realizing his hat had fallen close by, it may have seemed he had ignored the kid slightly as he went to pick up his hat, putting his phone into his own, smaller bag before reaching down for the fedora. He brushed off some dirt that had gotten onto it before placing the fedora back onto his head, turning to face the guy. Sure, he was taller than Nathan, and probably more built, but that didn't stop him from rolling his eyes slightly from the tiny bit of annoyance he felt.

"It's fine, just pay more attention to what's around you, and I will as well." He said in a rather uninterested tone, not forgetting to take his own fault into account for being what he considered too close. Going over to his luggage, he reached down and grabbed the handle before beginning to walk towards the school once more with confidence... Or rather, an attempt to look confident or not distracted. After all, it seemed his hunger was slowly creeping back into his mind, causing one final growl to occur. So much for distracting his stomach...

Talia Nitro

Talia was walking next to them while listening to Beatrice talk about various things, every so often adding something to the conversation as she looked at Richard and Beatrice. She looked at the various places around the area. This was surely a different pace of life for her than living in a city, a big change for her. She looked back at Richard and noticed him having another small fit as she mentioned the name Richie. She noted this mentally and kind of snickered a bit about it, all in good fun.

After Richard's unsuredness about his adequacy Talia spoke up in a kind and affectionate, and also reassuring tone. "Oh Richard it's bound to appear soon, and I'm sure whatever it is you'll learn to love it. And don't worry about your mage, even if your power hasn't manifested at that point, you're still very helpful, not a burden in the slightest. Plus, from what I've heard the sacramentum is a bond that relies on both parties, not just one, So I'm sure you'll rise to the occasion." She said this with alot of confidence, since she liked to help a friend out when in need.

Are you hoping it’s anything in particular? Bee already has super strength.” Talia looked over at Beatrice and did notice that she was carrying quite a bit for a girl of her size. She looked back at Richard. "Yeah well, as for me I don't have anything in particular I'm hoping for. I've never really had to rely on an ability, to be honest I've never actually put much thought into it before this..." Her words trailed off as she sighed and looked into the distance. She quickly regathered her bearings and looked back towards them. "But I am optimistic! This is a new school for me, and I'll be reaching new heights and meeting new people." She smiled as she continued to walk next to them.

"So, I'll assume that were all second years here? That being the case, that'll mean the sacramentum do you two have any plans in place, for your future partners, I mean? As far as I'm concerned, I'd be satisfied with a Familiar that's willing to work with me."

“No plans really,” said Clyde as he rubbed the back of his neck. He was slowly getting used to the presence of Lilac despite her not talking to him. But he appreciated the fact she had not run him off like so many others. On the topic of the sacramentum, Clyde was not quite sure what he expected or what he wanted to expect. His parents were a mage and familiar pair, both of whom met one another at this very same academy. Clyde always dreamed about a story book romance such as theirs, but his timid and fearful nature would make that impossible. It was a lovely wish that would remain in his dreams until he could find confidence in himself. At least, for now, he prayed his mage would be a nice person.

“Long as we get along, I'm fine with whomever I'm bonded to. It's excitin' to think about. A bond that's never been felt before until now. I'm curious to see what it's like.”

"As for my wishes towards my familiar, I only wish him to be a well-mannered person that would not annoy me. Like you, I wouldn't care what ability he might have. I would mostly use him to learn my spells after all.”

There was nothing Clyde could say about that. Though, he felt a bit degraded for a moment, he let the feeling slip away. After all, that is exactly how Clyde felt about himself. Mages and familiars are considered equals in normal society, but the boy always felt rather subservient to others. If his own partner decided Clyde's only worth was to be a tool to further their own powers, as long as Clyde got his gym time in he would not mind.

“That’s really not ok to say.”

The newcomer stood 5'6, noticeably shorter than both Clyde and Leo, but taller than Lilac's 5'0 frame. His hair was slicked back and glasses rest upon his nose. He did not look to have a mean bone in his body, but it was clear he took offense to what Lilac had said. There was potential for disaster on epic proportions. Clyde's eyes shifted from left to right quickly trying to think of a way to defuse the situation.

“The bond between a mage and their familiar is something to be respected. They’re not there to simply be used by you.”

“I'm sure Lilac didn't mean any disrespect to the bond,” said Clyde with a nervous chuckle. “It's just that, ya' know, familiars are needed by mages to learn spells. Call it a different choice of wordin'...”

Lilac's conversation with Leo was suddenly, and rudely, she might add, interrupted by the appearance of a young, bespectacled man. Without even introducing himself, he went for the attack right away and corrected what Lilac had just said about her wish for her familiar.

"And you are?" she responded, her eyes giving a glare towards him and her words empathizing just much she had just been rudely interrupted.

Cylde quickly interjected, saying that she didn't mean any disrespect. Hmph, if he wanted to apologize for her, then she wouldn't have any problem with it. Just don't expect her to apologize as well.

And he said it with such an unsure tone too, which made her think that he really did think she was being disrespectful.

How foolish. It was simply a fact that mages need familiars to cast spells. She was simply saying truth. She didn't have any delusion of mage/familiar special bonds or anything like that. She was not a dreamer. And if she were to have a dream, it would be about magic, something you could attain eventually if you worked hard enough.

Of course, this didn't mean she would treat her familiar badly. Of course she would treat them with respect. But if they thought they had a right to be closer to her than a mere work partner, they would be terribly, horribly wrong. She shuddered at the though of some boy thinking she must be his girlfriend just because she was her mage.

Leo crossed his arms and nodded, satisfied with both their answers. There wasn't really anything wrong with them; in the first place, he had only asked out of curiosity. It wasn't as if he were planning on judging them for things he felt were wrong. There was a time and place for that - like at home while surrounded by his siblings. Though being honest, he identified with Clyde more than he did with Lilac. Like him, he was also curious, 'what would person bonded to him be like?' and for that matter, what would change once they were bonded? Evidently Lilac had a more stern outlook on the nature of that bond, but Leo was of the opinion that one could not avoid deepening that kind of connection, not with how dependent you would become on one another in that time, an opinion he was sure was held commonly.

Perhaps she was simply unused to human interaction, asides from a needed few. She certainly seemed like the type - by her own admission, she was practically confined to her room for the entirety of the last year - which is why they missed each other despite attending the same school, so it made a certain amount of sense that she viewed the bond the way she did. In any case, it was what she believed and he respected that - not everyone was capable of viewing the world through rose-tinted lenses, even if there was a certain amount of romanticism that really did exist. Plenty of those bonded as Mage and Familiar tended to get married or into a relationship, after all.

Of course, just because not everyone was capable of seeing it that way didn't mean that people would just accept that, such as the newcomer who suddenly stormed in and literally stared Lilac down in what was obviously controlled annoyance.

It was obvious from his words and the way he acted that he was one of those that greatly respected the bond between Mage and Familiar, holding it sacred even - or maybe he was simply offended by the unfeeling demeanor that Lilac regarded it with, he knew that some would take offense to that easily. Either way, he wasn't pleased with her, and made his displeasure known.

For her part, Lilac simply glared at the boy, practically disregarding Clyde's interjections and making it very clear that she was neither going to apologize nor amend her statement.

Leo had to give her credit - what she lacked in stature, she made up for in nerve. The newcomer wasn't exactly the most intimidating specimen, but he was a full head taller than Lilac was, not that it mattered; the smaller girl simply glared at him and demanded he introduce himself.

"While I don't mind the two of you arguing in front of us," he interjected loudly, but in the same austere, composed manner he had began with, "I would like to note that it is considered rude to simply butt-in on a conversation without so much as an 'excuse me'." He finished, looking sternly at the new boy.

Being offended was no excuse to breaching proper decorum, especially in front of a lady, after all.
