@Tangletail Why on earth would Ba'alzamon drink? Does he ever drink in the books? I'm confused.

What? Where did you get that?

The "Introductions to the bottom of a glass" was just an expression.

An expression wouldn't say "Like a man would". That grammar states that he is the man in question. Please remove this- Ba'alzamon was only free for like a few years every thousand years, he wouldn't risk losing any semblance of control in that brief time (especially given his fragile psyche). The implication, even, is confusing.

Posted. I absolutely could not resist the intro, and I am rusty as hell, so I apologize for both in advance.

I have one more post yet to finish, and then Rennet should find his way to the palace in Manetheren.

Honestly... I'm at a lost here. Cuz, I don't know what to do at this point.

I've never heard of anything... ANYTHING having a loyalty so strong that it's completely artificial. From what I just read here, you can flay a dude's wife, put her on a spit roast, grill her, and make her husband eat her. And he'd be perfectly fine with it, because he refuses to betray his country if it means nothing horrible will happen.

The only other thought in my head, is to build a bridge out of stone by channeling... which wouldn't be hard to do I'd imagine. Except we're talking about trying to move 30,000 plus across a river. And something that massive will likely be seen. And any pre-existing bridges are just bottlenecks that can be cut off.

The only other option I can think of that the dark side can take at this point is basically going slice of life instead of trying to attack.

@Tangletail Except you're forgetting that honor is a really important thing in specific cultures. And in the circumstance you outlined, a man could and likely would swallow his own tongue before doing anything so immoral. He wouldn't just sit and watch- he'd fight back, and if he couldn't, he'd kill himself before any information could be forced from him. That's quite obvious. I would personally rather die than betray Israel, and would kill myself without qualms if I knew I was going to be tortured or otherwise suffer at the potential expense of my people, my country, my religion. And I'm a violin teacher, not a military officer...

One of the reasons Ba'alzamon keeps cutting her off is because you're attempting to rush this campaign forward by like 6 months, by trying to bring up the solution that Ba'alzamon comes up with that ends up almost winning against Manetheren. Please, don't do that... They won't even have the idea to approach through the rivers for several months. Don't use OOC knowledge to boost your IC stuff.

The Shadow should have multiple roles during this; strategy and planning, actual battle on smaller scales, and
, infiltration, individual duels, personal quests... you're thinking very limited, by trying to force the RP into its final stage.

I don't have any knowledge of the trolloc war...

It has been a few years since I have read the Wheel of time series, still not complete, and I don't have any resource that actually talks about the trolloc wars. The best I can get is the wiki, and the Wiki is only basically a description. Not a history.

And now I see that I need to throw the one idea I had that got around it in the trash.

@TangletailOh, so it's just coincidence that you happened upon Ba'alzamon's strategy to win the war? Read below:

It's discussed in one of the first few chapters of the first book.

EDIT: It's the 9th chapter of The Eye of the World, and Tetsuan's bit is relayed in the 5th chapter of The Great Hunt.

EDIT: "Manetheren blood was always stubborn, and more so after Aemon died and Eldrene's heart was shattered." - Moiraine, The Eye of the World

Call me a liar if you want, but I -hardly- call it forced labor for bridges an ingenious strategy. It's common sense.

@Tangletail I wasn't calling you a liar, I was asking for clarification that it was coincidence. And once again, forced labor, not an option, and building a bridge would be pointless and impractical, and again, you're jumping to the end of the campaign. Develop your character within the world before the end of the RP rather than trying to race to the end, ok?

It was a coincidence. I hadn't known that page existed. The furthest my research has gone, was the Trolloc's Page to recall all of their little quirks and what they could and couldn't do (which at the time of reading mentioned the trolloc war but provided no link), the Dark One, The Myrdall, Dark lords, and -trying- to find some names on dark lords that existed during that period to see what their personalities and methodologies were.
