@Mistiel We don't actually have any military on board from what I can see. There's a stunning queer physicist, a young agricultural undergrad, a seasoned former MP-turned-civilian contractor, an opportunistic engineer, an ivy league programmer, and a young layabout.
@Steele I was hoping to have Dr. Izumi head the entire science department but I wasn't sure what to call that. Any ideas? Maybe keep it simple like Department of Science (DOS)?
@SuperNova9000 Head Researcher might be a good title or give her a more general leadership position that would also encompass the science...just got off of a 13 hour shift so I may not be the most coherent at the moment.
I'll be updating with the planet information hopefully in an hour or so and then possibly the first post. I'm trying to decide if I should post some info about NPCs (controlled by me) that you can interact with or will likely come across.
Personality: Born and raised military style. Hardass father and a caring mother, Always said Yes Ma'am and Yes Sir. Grew up fast, Big strong kid all his life and puberty threw him off the deep end. He was 6'7" his Senior year of high school and weighed almost 300lbs of muscle. Joined up with the Navy Marine Corps day after graduation. Enough said? No? He has never had time for relationship building, he has never had friends except for his teammates in his sports, even then his friends were seasonal. His parents both died in a car crash while he was on deployment. He is a callus young man who is well versed in self defence and the protection of others. He is a little socially awkward but youll get over that the second he saves your life~ Again, and again.
Desired Job & Qualifications: Security. Enlisted in the United States Naval Academy day after his high school graduation. Has been climbing ranks since day one. Finally caught the right guys attention and got offered this job.
Brief Bio: Family? Friends? Nah. All he ever had was his mom and dad. They died Two years after his first tour. Tore him apart. Made him the way he is now. Callus and socially awkward. He tries his best though, he never really had time to feel love or affection how a human should in the first place. Ive pretty much covered his whole backstory already.
Reason for Wanting to Leave Earth: Nothing is keeping him at earth, His CO (Commanding officer) told him to get on the ship and bring his whole life with him, so he packed it in his backpack and got on the ship.
Anything Else You Want to Add?: Hes a nice guy~ Really, Just give him a chance. Get to know him!
This IC begs the question of what kind of ship are we on? Just a standard, run-of-the-mill space shuttle? I mean that doesn't really have a bridge, but maybe the big red fuel cylinder thing could be modified to stay with the shuttle and store the pods? If it's another type of ship, can I get a picture so I know roughly where Eliza is on it? Her pod was one of the last to be loaded, so it makes sense that she might be one of the first off the ship, yeah? Unless the ship landed weirdly of course. O,o
I've been thinking on that and given that thousands of colonists are on board I sincerely doubt that they were shoved into the hydrogen tank of a space shuttle or any modern space-faring vessel for that matter. A modern space shuttle is out of the question, it simply isn't capable of holding thousands of people.
I think shuttles could be used to ferry pods though. A large portion of the fuselage is dedicated to scientific equipment but could be removed to store pods instead and that would give us all a reason to be packed in a shuttle before cryo.
As for the ship that gets us there (which should have some solution for getting us to and from planetary surfaces) would need to be a much larger construction. Something kilometers long with multiple decks and livable areas. Basically it should accommodate life on board the ship as a temporary measure until colonization begins.
Also, Eliza doesn't have a job or technical skills so she would probably be marked as non-essential personnel and probably not be brought out of stasis until after the crew of the ship at the very least.
As for the ship we are using I think we should look to the first picture on the OC... and the stasis pods would already be on the ship, you wouldnt be loaded on... I dont think anyway...
@Zi In the first image I only see a small Corellian Corvette from Star Wars. That's not big enough lol. EDIT: Actually that ship in the top left closest to the camera is a Quasar or Lancer, but neither of those would be big enough still.
Well the way I wrote my post could be interpreted as her being thawed out at virtually any time during the unloading process. I was imagining a more fully automated ship that would revive everyone at once upon landing or in the event of an emergency.
