BRIEF Bio -
Wayde was your average software developer working at Steelworks when he stumbled on the secret of his boss... that he was once the ally of Superman called Steel! Will worked for weeks building part of his own tech enhanced armor before revealing to his employer that he knew about his secret identity. It had been a couple years since John Irons stopped trying to be a hero to focus on his company and raising his youngest daughter Natasha who was still just fourteen. Irons began mentoring Wayde when not actually at work and mentioned Superman looking for a recruit for some new League outreach program of sorts. Wayde was the first person Irons thought of.
Over the last five months, William Wayde had put himself out there to try and gain some attention. There was an all new and all different Steel running around. Surely nobody would confuse him with the last one... he didn't wear a full suit of armor and doesn't have a cape. Then again sometimes people look past certain things and their own stupidity takes over.
Will eventually caught his break weeks ago when going up against the villain Deadline who was a mercenary hired to kill a reporter at the Daily Planet: Clark Kent.
Notes - Steel caught Deadline setting up to take down Clark Kent and a fight ensued. After getting away from Perry White, Superman finally hit the scene. However, Will had already managed to completely take down the mercenary. The hammer was just too much for the guns and ammo to be effective. Seeing firsthand what the kid was capable of was enough to know John Irons did right by this kid. Superman explained the Young Justice program and Will accepted the invite. Really... who could turn Superman down?
Clark Kent was in the office of Perry White, editor of the Daily Planet. The older gentleman had been going off on the disguised Kryptonian, for chasing a story the editor told him to stay away from. The last time Intergang was pursued a city was left in ruins thanks to a giant humanoid machine, and dozens of craters were left throughout the town, and several branches of STAR Labs across the nation suffered damage and a total of four casualties. Clark could hear the mercenary setting up for a kill. Perry's office was the least populated part of the building, so Superman stayed put and didn't act alarmed. He half listened to the editor tearing into him as he used his X-Ray vision to look at the scene outside. It was 4 pm on a Tuesday. That's when the all new Steel hit the scene.
"What's the matter with you, Kent? Am I boring you?" Perry White asked standing up from his office chair.
"No... no it's not that Mr. White. I just thought I heard something outside..." the nervous sounding Clark responded.
Outside...
"That's a nice gun, bet it's not for paintball!" Steel screamed after landing on top of the neighboring building where the merc was setting up.
The masked teen threw his hammer and destroyed the large gun and the hammer hit the ground on the far side of the rooftop. The globe on top of the Daily Planet could be seen behind the mercenary and the fallen hammer.
"You think I only brought one gun?!" the man screamed, "I'm DEADLINE, the HUMAN WEAPON!"
He came in close quarters and fired a couple shots in between a flurry of punches that just bounced off the kid's armor. When Will pulled back to throw a knockout punch he was shocked to see his enemy phase through the attack leaving the new Steel off his guard and on the ground.
"That armor's not half bad kid. Might make a buck off it once I ace you and this reporter..." Deadline joked aiming his pistol in the back of the teen head where the face-plate didn't cover.
"You'd get more for the hammer, idiot..." Steel responded, "Return." and as the last word escaped his mouth the hammer lifted itself from the ground and flew back towards the two men knocking the assassin out cold before resting in the hand of the teen inventor.
Three minutes had gone by. Maybe four. Clark Kent finally escaped the fury of his editor in chief. The reporter rushed to a storage closet and then flew out of the window just in time to see the young hero standing over the merc and crushing the last of his guns.
"You're that kid John was telling me about aren't you?" Superman asked.
"This guy phased through an attack earlier, you might wanna call somebody before he wakes back up..." Steel said in a disguised voice calmly.
"So do you know John or is there some other kid running around in a Steel suit and using a hammer?" Superman asked again touching down on the rooftop within arms reach of Deadline and the new Steel.
"I'm sorry Superman, I'm just trying to stay calm and not go geek mode. I'm a big fan." Will replied trying to keep his cool, and stand a little taller in the presence of greatness.
"It's good to finally meet you..." Superman began, extending his hand for a shake and quickly getting the hand of Will's, "Did John tell you anything about the program...?"
