He can be quiet from time to time when he is lost in thought but he comes out of it when someone tries to speak to him.
Back Story: Growing up he had an uneventful childhood. He had a lot of friends and made the most out of his life. When the game was coming out he and his fiance at the time decided they would play the game together. She wanted to show him what she loved about gaming. Shortly after the opening ceremony...she jumped off the walls around the edge of the town of beginnings and died. He was not able to catch her in time from falling and has lived each other day in order to live on in her memory.

Personality: Darkstar is determined to get out of the game so when he is in battle he is in complete focus of the battle and what opponents my lie ahead. He keeps currency but often will give armour and weapons to other players so that may be better equipped to help on the front lines. He often will scout ahead of the group and inform those of what is to be expected. He feels that the way to dispute issues is to fight one another in a proper arena where you are tested on your skills, not your level. He also despises player killers and will hunt them down and hold them prisoner or force to do the deed himself if need be. When in town he is a bit more outgoing and numerous, often found in the tavern having drinks.

Back Story: Darkstar is a frontline character, he did not play in the beta but Had friends who were and kept a cheat sheet of what they had and would post them on websites to help people get hyped for the new release. He would study until the game had finally come out with his roommates in his apartment, he's one of those players that plans out everything, his stats, appearance, weapons and skills meticulously from the beginning. He had saved up for the nerve gear since he had heard about the release. When he entered the game and realized the whole picture he first thanked whichever God was listening that his roommates had to work while he had the day off. But unfortunately he found that his twin sister had gotten into the game. He found her as soon as possible and teamed up with her as quickly as he could. They figured that they would work best together. They soon joined the front lines as a scout and damage dealer character, while she took the role of tank and taunter.

Personality: She is stern like a mountain, strong willed and grounded, she is often passive and let's her brother talk but when she does it is with purpose. She is optimistic but also paranoid and values information before going into any situation. If you do something that goes against what they are doing you have made an enemy for life and she does not forgive easily and usually gives a reminder with a swing of her mighty hammer.

Back Story: Taka is a frontline character that focuses on a strong and swift defense with weapons that make her stand out and have enemies focus on her, her play style compliments her twin brother to keep the eyes off of him when necessary but also being able to handle her own when need be. She was not a beta tester but would always converse and plan with her brother of what they were going to do when they got their hands on the game. She is married and has a husband that was one of Kaneda's best friends, she has no kids at the moment but plans to have a family someday. When she got the game she just wanted to check it out before calling her brother and telling him to join her. After finding out about the consequences of the game she quickly checked through the roster in search of her brothers username Darkstar. After seeing he was logged in she messaged him and told him to meet with her to plan out what to do next. They read over the manual that was supplied to them that were notes from the beta testers and began to move on to getting ready. She fights with all her heart to be free of the game one day, to see her husband again and tell him that she loves him.

Alba, as her friends and family recall her to be, doesn't emit much emotion. Sure, she may be pleasant company for just about any and all occasions, but she rarely is ever straightforward with what she wants to say. Those professed in literature, debate, and speech find her laconic at times; other who are not nearly as learned find the words she use difficult to understand. In spite of this obvious difficulty to opening up, Alba doesn't pry much into others' lives. If left alone, she'll leave you alone. If engaged often, she'll be expecting to keep contact often. On the flip side, Alba isn't the type to try new things; so long as there is a better, more efficient option available, Alba would rather maintain the status quo than take a risk. On the rare occasion that something does mandate a change in her schema, expect her to do some rigorous explicit memorization to improve her efficiency in the future. She's not the kind of person to make the same mistake twice.

Alba, then an overseas exchange student at the time of the game's release, was on the fast-track to one of Tokyo University's famous nursing programs. While she didn't necessarily feel any compassion for those suffering (she was an incredibly healthy soccer player, but she had to drop the sport to continue her education), nursing was respectable and well-paying enough to prevent her family from constantly nagging her to make her own life miserable in a post-graduate school. So, with the quiet and clandestine approval of her Japanese mother, Alba was off to start a new life in Japan.
There, she developed an interest with technology; the affair started with the short-lived Google Glass, but as dream after dream fell into ruin with each successive failure, Alba had almost gave up entirely on the thought of working with machines. In Japan, though, she could learn so much more than what little her homeland offered.
Enter the NerveGear and Medicuboid prototypes; while volunteering in the pediatric ward at a Tokyo hospital, Alba encountered her first FullDive device in the hands of one of several cancer patients that had been crippled from the intense chemotherapy. After some inquiry and conversation, Alba realized that she could relive her childhood dream of innovation with the VR and AR technology, so she managed to get in contact with one of the NerveGear's original designers by perusing some of the staff files. With a little lie sent to her parents, Alba managed to acquire funds fast enough to buy a NerveGear for beta-testing a new game : Sword Art Online.

Alba detested MMOs, but it didn't seem like any other game or program would be available any time soon that could put the strain on the NerveGear's capabilities. Against the better thinking of her doubts, she began to play the game on a regular basis, and often made several bug reports on the more "banal" features, like taste.
Needless to say, the gustatory bugs couldn't be fixed in time for the full release, which only miffed Alba all the more when she learned of her being trapped inside the game. For that reason alone, Alba made it a point to work near the front-lines to help her fellow players escape...and to try to fix the damn issues with tasting. The culinary aspect of SAO isn't nearly strong enough, unfortunately, to warrant a big and proper guild as is the desire to actually beat the game, so Alba hasn't found a guild quite yet.
Then again, the fact that she occasionally PKs more than a few perverts might be the reason why people avoid her in general.

Personality: Charles is by all means civil in manner. Respectful, polite and courteous. He is generally nice to everyone he comes across. Loyal to his leaders yet merciful to his enemies. He tries to avoid violence whenever possible and if push comes to shove he will try his best to subdue his foes in nonlethal ways. He has a strong sense of duty and is dedicated to clearing the last floors to free everyone.

BackStory: Charles had a perfectly normal childhood with loving parents and annoying siblings. He went to a normal school and had normal friends. He was never much of a gamer but when the nerve gear was announced, all of his friends were talking about it. He couldn’t help but be interested. He bought it a few weeks after it had been released. The game surprised him with it’s immersion and realism. He enjoyed it very much until he found out that he would be stuck here. At first he was panicked. Was he going to be stuck here forever? Would he ever see his family again? But after some time he got used to it. He joined up with the brotherhood of fighters to help those at lower levels and to clear the last floors.

Personality: She's a narcissist and is mentally unstable, having been a borderline misanthrope for most of her life. Though has been determined to fake normality and sociability to keep up appearances, will still often berate men or anyone that manages to piss her off. Often very cold and apathetic toward other people's plights. Rather violent in nature and will prefer to battle than to talk through a bad situation. Mostly acts out of self interest, with rare exceptions having an inclination to be friendly and nurturing around children. Some would say around certain individuals her personality almost does a complete 180, often mistaken for having some kind of multiple personality disorder. Is quite intelligent and confident in her abilities making her fearless fighter.

Backstory:
Miracle grew up with her wealthy grandparents in a large mansion, since both parents had tragically died in a bank hostage situation gone wrong, when she was very young. Being the popular girl in her school and always at the top of her class. Often the one to spread rumors and hurt who got in her way to remain on top. She despised her family and her several older siblings that she avoided at every opportunity, angry that she had to be the youngest. She'd lock herself in her room and play games on her computer, purposely blasting music loud enough to cause vibrations throughout the house. Though she never had anyone tell her no, often spoiled with anything she wanted. Allowing her to get away with many violent acts that she committed on school grounds and to her older siblings. She didn't get a job once she left school like her other siblings and mostly stayed at home playing video games, every so often she'd babysit her school friends kids, often having dreams of being a mother.

She received the equipment and the game as a present. Becoming one of the beta testers of the game. Though one of her other siblings received the game as well, which made her nearly avoid playing altogether. Just for the off chance she'd have to be around him in the game. Once the event occurred, her reaction was quite different from most when everyone discovered they could no longer return to the real world. It almost felt like a blessing for her because how uninteresting her life was. Becoming quite a dominant and infamous figure in the game itself, though suddenly stopped being the case and her behavior in the game nearly completely changed when she met another player who happened to be a child. Spending almost all her time, taking care of and training him from lvl 1 into someone who could defend themselves.

Personality: He is very curious and kindhearted, though he acts quite shy when speaking to strangers. He is still soft spoken to those he cares about, often staying silent in social situations despite the desire to have a lot of friends. He seldom expresses any his negative sentiments or emotions to anyone but Miracle Vagnoni. (or his mother when he was offline.) He is a quick learner and acts rationally in most difficult situations. He enjoys training and is happy to spend time with her to become better and mostly follows Miracle Vagnoni around. Is slightly clingy and still has some childish habits like chewing on his shirt.

Backstory:
Trevor lived with his single mother in a poor neighborhood. She never actually told him of his actual father, never knowing what to say when she didn't even know his name. She chose to carry on the child of a stranger who assaulted her in college, keeping the child due to her strong religious upbringing and feeling quite repulsed at the idea of giving it up. Raising him while still going to school and doing several jobs, fortunate enough to meet some kind people at her church that she attended, often giving her money and clothing and other items to allow her to take care of her child. He was home schooled and was taught well since his mother was a school teacher herself. He helped mom do everything around the house, clean, cook and often had to fetch a blanket and pillow for his exhausted mother when she come home late at night and end up not even making it to her bed.

A richer family at church, found the hard work she did and her story was inspirational and ended up setting her up with a much better paying job at his company and in a short amount of time, his 12th birthday. He was living a much more modest life, in a much better neighborhood. He actually became good friends with the son of their family, and he'd show and share all the games he had with him, even letting him borrow his many game systems. (including a NerveGear.) He became addicted to playing games and imaging that he'd become a brave warrior growing up, so he could protect his mother forever. Especially when she started getting sick all the time, he didn't understand how sick she truly was. But playing games was one way he could pretend everything was okay.

When the game became his reality, it shattered him and he quickly feared for his life. He broke down crying the whole first night of this discovery, just wandering around aimlessly for a while, being cautious enough to not get killed. Only wanting to stay alive and wishing he could see his mother again, his desperation carried him along. However one day he ended up getting himself into a incredibly dangerous situation, but he was saved and that day changed everything. Becoming a follower to the player that saved his life, telling him to stay with her and that she'd protect him. He almost felt as if he was in his mother's arms again, it gave him comfort and breathed life into him, making him feel excited for what the next day brought. He stopped worrying about getting home and spent countless days training with his new mentor. So once he was finally able to come home, he'd be stronger and make his mother proud.

Personality: Shiro is a man whose been instilled with values. He is someone who believes strongly in being able to forge his own path by his own two hands. He's not opposed to fighting to protect his beliefs. Even if he looses. He's never set in his ways though he is constantly adapting to the world around him letting the way of the world help shape, define and re-define him. But his core beliefs never change. Fight for what you believe in, think with your head not your heart, if it's something that burns strongly within follow it.

Shiro's reaction to people is initially friendly, however if they prove that they are against him or act to hurt someone without any provocation then he grows to dislike them. He's a charismatic person, he could persuade someone to do something for him. His ambitions lead him to a great path, the path shows the true side of him. He often respects his enemies in battle, humiliating them on the battle isn't his style.

He has two major quirks to his personality, one being that he believes that the strongest beliefs always win. Regardless of the medium through which they are conveyed be it words or fists. The second quirk is a simple one. Living for yourself is the same as living for nothing. Live for others, don't only focus on yourself.

Back Story: It took a huge effort for him to purchase this game. Born under the roof of a wealthy family, he still couldn't get what he wanted easily. After finishing several tasks given by his father, he entered the game. The first time he realized that he's stuck inside the game, he didn't lose his composure. He absorbed all the information he can get and calmly proceed whatever needed to be done. However, one thing changed since that day. He's becoming more serious and critical. He played as one of the frontline players but his journey was hindered because a lot of players lost their lives. The raging fire of ambition burns strongly inside him, his goal is to clear the game, and get out of it so this raging fire motivates him to join a guild known as Lost Vanguard and so his story continues.
