I'd like to implemented some homebrew lore: The Hunting and Sporting Goods department is a dangerous land full of bloodthirsty carnivores.

As a sub-idea, it would be cool if it was overgrown with flora, perhaps due in part because apocalypse and maybe the Garden Department is next door, so the plant life has spilled over and basically over run the Hunting and Sporting Goods department.

If permitted I'll write an actual piece on it and submit it to our benevolent overlord to check and add to the lore. (Probably after I write my IC post).

I'm in favor of that idea; parts of Sporting is filled with machines, the other is a true "hunter's paradise" to say and then the rest is a mix. Gives me the idea of a primal jungle where reptiles from Pets have managed to mutate into dinosaurs or something like that.

While we're on the topic of lore, I guess I should point out and describe two bits I made up for my own post:

Suburban Knights: A pun of "suburbanite", they are the knights to the castles of "every man's home is his castle" that Homeware people follow to extreme lengths.

Wallord: Not a mispelling, it refers to an Warlord within the Wal, typically a brutish tribal leader although others who don't fit that descriptions have taken the title.

If I might jump in for a second, it think that he whole garden section overlap and land full of dangerous carnivores thing would probably fit better into the pet department if we were to go by the wiki. I'd venture to say perhaps these two departments could likely be on really good terms with the sports depo and allow for a lot of border crossing between tribes for the sake of training up youngins to survive in the big bad wal-world. Over all though I imagine the sports section to be more of an urban jungle over an actual jungle. Think lots of bars and heavy weights and machines lying about and hanging overhead like the worlds largest obstacle course. Something only the natives and the truly /fit/ could ever hope to navigate unscathed. Ultimately though the decision is @ClocktowerEchos' to make.

@Raddum Since you are from the Dorfs, how would you feel about RNGesus being an actual deity for Dorfs?
Also, I was talking with @Aeonumbra in the discord and I feel like that the relationship between dorfs and nevergrow is very similar to that of dorfs and goblins (namely in Warhammer fantasy). Also, the nevergrow might be all over the place because apparently we need that kind of terror in our lives.

@ClocktowerEchos

I was sort of assuming this was already the case. Though considering the origins of the god referring to him as RNGesus wouldn't be accurate. More of a direct term to luck would fit better; As dice would be in play, rather than generated numbers from a system. Unless there's hardcore gamer Dorfs too, in which to them RNGesus would be more accurate.

"Hello. I am Crowley," he said on approaching, knowing that they would look at his ever-so-slightly twisted arm across his chest. "I will be joining you Grounded on your adventures. I have made your acquaintance."

10/10 introduction, still laughing.

@Paradoxial Not quite; you seem to have just replaced the words "Feral" with "Anti-Social". I thought there would be a difference in writing, I'm still not convinced on his "scavenger turned him into a mistrusting and vicious person who has no qualms about death". Honestly, I doubt anyone in the Wal would have a qualm and that most are mistrusting of others and can be quite savage. I think you are using irl standards to built a character personality instead of an IC standards, remember this world is nothing like our own in many more ways than one.

@Paradoxial@ClocktowerEchos Gonna go ahead and pop in again since I'm a nosy son of a bitch wanna see more people in this rp. The setting of the RP, while full of silly stuff, is still a gritty and dystopian landscape full of amoral assholes and murderbots. Think of it as the result of Fallout, Mad Max, WH40k, and Terminator making vicious love behind a Walmart dumpster and then afterwards all of them opted for throwing the result into the store to forget the shame of night before.

Long story short, mistrust is the default mentality. people aren't likely to trust anyone they haven't known or worked with for a while. Not even the player party is above this. As far as I (and by extension my character) am concerned we're just a merry band of assholes that can only hope that A: the guy that hired us isn't out to screw us over, and B: one of the others isn't going to kidney shank and rob everyone else in their sleep.

From what I've read of your bio the character you've made is pretty much a "ends justify the means" kind of guy. He wants his potion done no matter the cost, even if it's lives. I'm not going to say that he should go full on mad doc/Mengele on random people since that's pretty cliche, but I can definitely see a guy like that occasionally using anyone that tries to tango with the party and ends up incapacitated rather than dead as a guinea pig to work out kinks in potions or just to brush up on his medical skills with rather than do the "merciful" thing by putting down the poor bastard. I guess amoral or disconnected would be an apt term to use to describe such a person if you want to make a point of him being a bit beyond the standard distrusting and antisocial.

@MonsieurShade@Paradoxial No my issue is that beyond the name change, nothing acutally changed about that aspect. To me that speaks volumes on the player's attitude. In addition, antisocial isn't about being Machiavellian and mistrust or being nihilistic about death. Its about not giving a shit for social norms. Think of Trevor from GTA 5 who can be considered antisocial, not only does he have random fits of violence, but will go around naked, piss on people in public and break all kinds of societal rules. Antisocial is defined as:

adjective
1.
unwilling or unable to associate in a normal or friendly way with other people:
He's not antisocial, just shy.
2.
antagonistic, hostile, or unfriendly toward others; menacing; threatening:
an antisocial act.
3.
opposed or detrimental to social order or the principles on which society is constituted:
antisocial behavior.

Compare that too:

Antisocial - due to spending most of his life alone as a scavenger, he has become extremely antisocial and vicious, and has no qualms about violence or death. He is also very mistrusting and sees people as rarely more than an ends to a mean.

While also on that note, how long has he spent "most of his life a scavenger"? It seems that most of his life was spent in his department, trying to make potions and stuff. Did he decide to run away when he was a teenager? How did he survive up until this point then if he isn't willing to make friends, mistrusting and acting vicious? If he was practically alone for all of it, fending off against actual malicious groups would be a very hard challenge seeing as Leroy isn't marked as a warrior of immense skill. Bombs will only be able to do so much unless the enemy is stupid enough to walk in a single file line or run extremely close together. In this case, I would like to ask for a bio rewrite from @Paradoxial as it would be helpful as to understating how did he manage to live so long in an very hostile world.

Even in Fallout, Mad Max, and 40k, you rarely have one person completely by themselves fending off a horde for years on end. Even the player character, the great hero of the all, is still reliant on the help of others in the form of supplies, fire support, etc. Think of all of the merchants in Fallout and companion who stick to your side. Think of Furiosa and Nux in Fury Road whose skills were crucial to helping Max. Think of the massive infrastructure behind the Imperium which allows the Space Marines to kick ass. Even if they are alone on the battlefield, they are never a single entity unto themselves. As such, I would also like to ask again that you change your bio, Para, since I'm not seeing any difference than last time besides "Feral" has become "Antisocial" with none of the weight behind it to support the change, literally just a relabeling to try and slip it past the radar.

Hilariously enough, I was considering a Trevor-like character for this roleplay. But I felt like he'd cause too much conflict with the group so I decided against it.

@Aeonumbra I like it!

Although I'm a bit surprised that you didn't mention anything about like Sports Bars or Hooters. I feel like you could draw some parallel there given Super Owl Sunday. I'm split between the ideal of Hooters meaning harlot (for obvious reasons) or some all-female religious order with close ties to Health and Beauty and act and dress in a manner similar to the Wytch Elves of Warhammer Fantasy.

Okay so instead of the whole antisocial thing I changed it to this:

Detached: when he left his department, Leroy lost his family, his friends and everyone he had known in his whole life. He stopped seeing people as people, instead his broken mind Only seeing the creatures around him as tools only useful for continuing the quest. If any opportunity arises to continue his quest he will take it, no matter what must be sacrificed.

Also I'm bumping up his age by a couple years and fleshing out his bio more, to go more in deatail about him time alone as a scavenger. Sound good?

You said not too go overboard [Clocku], so I wrapped it up with the hunting side of things. I figured since we're largely influenced by the wiki that hooters, maid-den, and mad den could go unmentioned. I'll pen something in, ideas are flowing this morning.

------

I added some stuff, and I think that about wraps up the culture for Sport. Let me know what you think.

Now, who wants to be bros?

@ClocktowerEchos Oh shit. Fixed.

" And always remember their golden rule, "Bros before Hoes". Hoe is a derogatory term for anybody who isn't good enough, whether it be lack of physical prowess or being ugly. If you ever call a Lineman or a Point-Guard a hoe, expect a rage induced fight."
