In the void of the Milky Way Galaxy, Earth floats, barren. Decades of warfare coupled with a crippling plague have left the once beautiful blue marble stripped of its life, the remnants of nature struggling to find a foothold in what’s left. Wild animals trudge through landscapes of ash and dry soil, hoping to find the odd vine or brush to feed themselves, hunting for the nearest pool of clean water. Oceans lay dormant, the surfaces littered with rotting flesh and skeletons of massive sea beasts, stripped clean by the few bottom feeders that still call the deeps their home. It has been years since the skies have been clear, leaving the forgotten infrastructure of Earth to crumble and collapse under dreary clouds, the dust simply adding to the impenetrable chemical fog that lingers over what is left of once bustling metropolitan centers. The planet that Humanity once called home is a bleak wasteland, suffocating under a mask of death and decay.

Having left the dying planet completely almost half a century ago, Humanity has found a new home, amongst the stars. In the century before it’s exodus of Earth, the few countries powerful enough to deal with the war were looking into expanding into space, discovering alien life in their studies. While warring with each other, Humanity found itself working with the vast amount of alien races also finding new frontiers in the vast expanse of space. Linking together with a few of the more populous races of the charted Universe, Humanity helped found the Universal Collective, a governmental body formed to regulate, protect, and represent all life in the Universe equally. The colonization of new planets was loosely regulated, the implementation of elective governments was established in the large bustling city centers around the Universe, and the formation of a military force, consisting of those militaries of Member Races, was begun.

Having lost their home planet, with the majority of their race living on a fleet of ships floating through outer space, Humanity was quick to start making claims on new planets, establishing colonies left and right, introducing themselves to their newfound allies on the new frontier. Soon, even with bustling and growing colonies, Humanity’s home fleet, now known simply as The Fleet, is one of the landmark cities in the Tombra System, a system in the outskirts of the Milky Way, and the main port system for travel to different galaxies. It’s Flagship, the Humanitas, is a massive ship, with it’s own self contained city, housing around a million people. The Humanitas can dwarf smaller planets, and contains systems allowing it to be self-sufficient to the point of excellence.

Humanity, over time, has made widespread expansion into newly discovered planets. For every 10 settlers on new planets, 4 of them are Humans, and a majority of the larger, growing cities are led by a majority-Human government, or are steadily moving towards that. These advancements, however, have not gone unnoticed by its allies in the UC.

Quite plainly, disdain and jealousy over Humanities quick rise to power in the U.C has spread throughout the galaxy. While many of the common people of the U.C harbor no grudges or ill-will against Humans, it is within the houses of Parliament and Congress where the prejudice has grown prevalent. Plots, plans, proposals, all sorts of discussions and debates have been made behind closed doors on how to limit and slow Humanity’s growth, or even to stop it all together.

First, measures were put in place to complicate and more tightly regulate the process of claiming land and colonizing planets, with special attention paid towards Humanity. Humanity was one of the most juvenile of all the races in the U.C, and word of what happened to their home planet was beginning to spread. Doubt and cynicism became the flavor of the conversation, many citizens questioned if Humanity could handle having majority control of any planet, after destroying and abandoning it.

That was the beginning of the end.

The stage had been set for the Universe’s faith in Humanity to be questioned at every turn, for trust in Humans to fall with every incident or failure in colonization efforts. Humanity fought hard to change the negative image that was plaguing them, but the propaganda had been spread, and the stigma had been set. It only took a few years of stigmatization and defamation before Humans began to fight back. First, with peaceful protests and demonstrations, attacking the obvious discrimination against Humans in colony planets, but these protests cause pushback. It wasn’t long before extremists began to show themselves, conducting attacks on the public, and on public servants. Several famously anti-human politicians were slain, fueling the fires on both sides of the fight.

Society moves as fast as it slowest member, and Humanity was crawling along at a snail’s pace. In the blink of an eye, the Universal Collective had turned on Humanity, and after so many terroristic attacks, violent protests, political backlash, the U.C began severing ties with Humans. Campaigns were run heavily to get the last of the Humans out of leadership and governmental positions. The delicate balance of power had been upended, and Humanity finally fell to it’s knees when they were voted out of the U.C, a consequence of innumerable squabbles, terrorist attacks, assassinations, all at the hands of rogue human terrorists.

Humanity had been completely exiled from the U.C, and thus any U.C controlled territories. The Universe sat in a tense silence, as every single inhabitant shared a common thought.

War.

Conflict between the two butting heads was never outright threatened, but mainly because the threat had no need to be made. Every soul in the U.C already felt the warm embers of war grazing their skin, a foreboding warmth, hinting that a conflict like none before it was soon to come. In the days following the separation between Humanity and the U.C, there was a very tense silence, as the two slowly, physically separated, Humans retreating to the Humanitas and the few colonized planets they had complete control over. Determined to flush Humanity fully out of the system, however, began making demands that Humanity abandon and surrender any planets they held in any U.C controlled systems, and for them to remove their flagship from the system.

Always stubborn, Humanity of course refused, making plans to fortify their settlements and maintain their control of the 4 planets they had left, 2 near the Humanitas, and 2 farther out near the center of the system. A second warning was not coming, as the U.C immediately sent out expeditionary legions to forcefully remove any traces of Humanity from the U.C system. At first, this meant merely recapturing planets and driving the Humanitas out of the system, but the mission very quickly took a much darker turn.

Military stand offs and stick waving elevated into firefights and skirmishes. As U.C bodies fell to the hands of Humanity, the sentiment to wage an all out war on Humans grew with a majority of U.C citizens, and their leaders were quick to listen. Skirmishes turned to an all-out war, and the war quickly turned into a slaughter. Their hardiness and intuition had brought Humanity back from a war and plague that nearly ended it, but they simply weren’t ready to face something of this magnitude this early into their interstellar expansion. Humanity was doomed.

To make a long story short, Humanity is a dying race. Do they still have numbers? Yes. Are they still fighting? Yes. But it’s not enough. It’ll never be enough. The remnants are spread too thin, driven weak by war and famine, it’s hopeless. The U.C’s ravenous need to eradicate Humanity has gone blind, it’s propaganda fueling a sort of ruthless savageness throughout the systems. Even the slightest hesitation can have you marked as a traitor and shot in the back. No one is safe if they’re near humans, driving even the few empathetic souls left to scorn and shoo away whatever Human’s they come across, fearing for their own lives.

Human’s are a death sentence, end of story. Humans are no longer “human” if you understand. The hunt for them has turned then from living, breathing beings with emotions and feelings into a big targets, and anyone next to them is in just as much danger.

■ We, the roleplayers, will be playing as a group of survivors from Utari Outpost #22, a small base on a majority Human planet that housed many non-human rebels. Our small group has just escaped the destruction of the planet in a small shuttle, everyone else we know having been killed in the battle. Our group is majority non-human, or human/alien mix breeds, with a tiny (2-4) group of Humans. Now that the U.C has begun his campaign against Humanity, which it appears that it’s going to win, we have a few choices of what we will do with what could possibly be some of the last Humans left in the system? Will we flee to the Humanitas to assist in its escape from the system. Fighting against the U.C all along the way, or could we maybe get smuggled out of the system by the criminal underground? The possibilities are endless, and it’s all down to your choices, I’m going to let you guys make most of the important decisions! Please, reply to this thread, or message me, as I could always use a hand expanding on this universe, I have quite a few ideas floating around my head, but I could use help expanding things like the technology of this universe or the races that inhabit this universe! Thanks for reading!

Color me very interested.

Also, I love how that intro was written but this part:
The U.C’s ravenous need to eradicate Humanity has gone blind, it’s propaganda fueling a sort of ruthless savageness throughout the systems. Even the slightest hesitation can have you marked as a traitor and shot in the back.
made me laugh since I'm a Warhammer 40K nerd and all I now have this image in my mind of a bunch of aliens running around with bolters and chainswords like:

@Jarl Coolgruuf If you say so, Lutetenant; I'll try to consign my nationality to the background by not using words with a 'U' in them.
