I'm getting sick and god damn tired of people putting ZERO effort into their interest checks. I don't want to commit to a god damn roleplay that isn't on the free section that has ONE sentence about the roleplay and that one sentence is basically asking "Hey guys you wanna make a ____ roleplay?"

It shows you haven't put any thought into the roleplay. That you don't really have much thought put into characters other than your own. And that you don't conduct yourself as a proper god damn gm.

What you should have on an interest check is a preplanned story, a choice of various stories, a BASIC GOD DAMN STRUCTURE FOR HOW THE RP WILL BE, and possibly the option for user feedback.

If you playing on anything other than free then you should have a basic underlying thought for the roleplay other than the god damn series/fandom it's set in.

Maybe not needing people to write novels in their sheets would remove this problem.

I find it mainly with RPs that have a lot of requirements. Sometimes pictures annoy me too since a few happen to be of abnormally large size. Whatever happened to the crop or resize tool?

That isn't really the problem at it's core. Some people like writing more detailed characters than most. Nothing wrong with that.

Even if I ask for brief sheets, I always ask that everyone puts their sheet in a hider. It just makes everything easier to read and shift through.

Exactly my point. I don't have a problem with people wanting to write a multi paragraph backstory for their character, but I also don't want to scroll down through what seems like a dictionary just to find something in someone's sheet.

@Mr Allen J@Aquanthe Another cool trick is just to make the first page an index for all the characters. Then make each character link to the corresponding post. Then you won't even have to remember which page a character sheet is on.

Sure, hiders are a good idea. But not everyone thinks of it.

I do both for maximum indexing!

Now I know for a fact you have GM'ed RP's. I'm sure of it.

Do you know how much of a pain in the ass it can be if you're doing this for an RP that has a constant flow of new people coming in? I hated doing this.

@Buddha For my one RP on here, the first week was rough. But that was because I was answering questions, approving characters, monitoring OOC, and trying to write a fairly lengthy opening post that involved 15 player characters that weren't mine. Yes, it was absolute sin. I was wondering why I subscribed myself to this sort of hell. After that however, it was all smooth sailing.

Admittedly, not a lot of people have joined my RP since then. However, I find the process rather painless without the mounting pressure of accepting other characters/posting/etc. You just right click the link, copy link, and paste into URL tags. If you have 2 windows open, it takes about 10-15 seconds per character. It saves a lot of time in the long run.

@Raddum thanks bae

@Mr Allen J There are times when I think it's my fault. Like, maybe I'm misleading people with my IntChk, or I'm doing something egregious in my RP which drives others away. But then, this entire community has commitment issues, so idek.

I will admit it, I sometimes hop on my Chromebook during school when I have free time and roleplay. However, the school network's filter wil freak out over anything, and I mean anything. Like, it's as bad about blocking pages as YouTube is about copyright stuff. I wouldn't doubt it if the school filter just saw one word for a weapon out of context and said "oh no this person is doing bad violent things BANNE this page". I'll have to wait until the next page to be able to post on that roleplay again.

I feel like I constantly vacillate between two extreme poles of RP:

"I NEED ALL THE POSTS OMG THERE'S NEVER ENOUGH"

or

"I HAVE TOO MANY POSTS OMG SO OVERLOADED"

Everyone in the DnD club I have at school, bar me and one other person, are all either murderhobos or...no,just murderhobos. Me and one other kid enjoy making and actually BEING our characters in our session. Coincidentally,me and that other person are the only roleplayers in the group. It gets sick and tiring when we get people who half-ass a response while we try to play our characters.

Jump-in. Free. NRPs.

Three words that cause my heart to cringe and scream internally.
That combination doesn't work and yet I still see jackasses trying to pull off a either a Free/Jump-In NRP or all three.
