Not gonna lie though, would still totally love to do a Mass Effect RP. (But finding one is damn near impossible.)

I'm not so sure I was in love with Mass Effect as a setting. What I liked about Mass Effect kind of began and ended with Garrus. Granted, I liked Garrus enough to buy the entire original trilogy.. But, yeah.

Something about it really clicked with me. The story, settings, the crazy amount of choices, I just love all of it. Though I totally understand why some people don't.

Garrus is amazing. Fav character right there. Had him with me on nearly every mission and almost didn't romance Tali because I found out they end up together if you don't.

Garrus was lit. though i really liked the whole universe of the series. The story could've gone better, but thats a hard subject for a great game to make for everyone.

Never really much of a Mass Effect Fan, especially how the latest 2 games kinda sucked (Mass Effect 3's ending was shite, and Andromeda was apparantly sub-par), but I've always had a fascination with the Reapers, especially Harbinger and Sovereign.

Zeruel's voice would be based off a combination of those two voices as a matter of fact. They fit his boastful personality.

So, I've been working on a bit of a ruleset/fight guidelines for a War RP of my own, any advice/comments?

Anyway, I'll post for Miyu and Alexi tomorrow morning now that I've gotten that off my chest.

Remembering past RP shames and failures, uh? I guess that's a club (almost) anyone here is a member.

I don't think that the politics of the more restrictions and drawbacks = the stronger the power is a good one. This would generate a RP full of Ultraman-clones, if a finishing move that you have piled as many drawbacks as to only being able to use when knocking on death's door (or the "episode's end") can beat anyone that has a generally high defense.

For example, a series like Dragon Ball works on a good logic for powers. The more incomplete they are (like Vegeta's and Future Trunk's Ultra Super Saiyan form), the more useless it becomes against an opponent that has a balanced set of powers (like Cell) even if they should be able to beat him.

What I mean pretty much is that Drawbacks = Greater power as a general rule (there can always be exceptions, though) is pretty much a narrative fallacy.

PS:

Regulating power tiers can work, but usually will lead to a blander RP than something more "DIY" power level-wise. Something video game-y, I say. Not that I'm saying it's a bad thing, this is pretty much a matter of preference.

RPG-wise, I was born a D&D 3rd edition player. I'm used to titanic differences in power between characters that should be of "the same level", but some people aren't.

I can only imagine 1812 Overture playing while Luci is a weapons platform.

I'm going to assume this means that she's good, and I'm also going to say thank you.

As a 5e player, I still understand. I'm currently doing the Princes of the Apocalypse Campaign with a few friends, and I rolled shittily for stats while our Blackguard got 20 on Dex and 18 on Str.

On the plus side, I figured out I can bypass rolling to hit by grappling and exploiting Barbed Hide. So there's that.

Exploiting, uh? That's the life of a good D&D player, no matter the edition. 5e made D&D great again, after the enforced balance of the 4th edition nearly destroyed the world's 1st and best RPG. At least you began with a good edition.

@The 42nd Gecko You know, if there's a chance, we should have a Ghelgath vs Alexi fight; battle of the ice-wielders. Would be fun to see don't you think?

@Lmpkio Alexi wields ice, but she's primarily a reality warper and time manipulator with an emphasis on slowing things down.

@Lmpkio Just saying, if they had an Ice off, it would go like this.

Alexi: Go ice shards!
Gelgath: *plink plink plink* Uh.... Was that it?
Alexi: Yup.
Gelgath: ...

@Lmpkio Alexi uses her ice almost exclusively for things like "I need a platform" or "Ice slick under your feet" that don't need a lot of power to be effective.
