Setting: An island where people and creatures coexist. Story will begin in the small village of Degar. (wip. I'll come up with names/images if I see any interest)

Beast tamers
Tamers are born, not made. At a certain age (between earliest records show at 15, the average is between 18 and 23, but beasts have appeared as late as into someones 30s) their Guardian Beast will be summoned. These intelligent creatures are bound to their tamer for life. Since there are so few tamers on the island and so many monsters, it is required by law that all gifted join the Guild. Life in the Guild, until recently, is straightforward; protect people from monsters and protect monsters from people. Keep the balance and all will be well.

Monsters



The monsters are not born into this world, they are summoned. Gates open at random, transporting creatures from different realms and planes of existence. Researchers have identified 4 gates, based on the type of monsters that emerge.

Fairy type monsters. Water aligned creatures. Some are pretty little winged things- others are definitely not.

Demon type monsters. Fire aligned creatures. Not all of them are mischievous and cruel…

Mechanoid type monsters. Use electric spells. Range from tiny bots to huge clunking contraptions. They all sport incredible AI, not all speak however.

Beast type monsters. Use wind spells. Often feral and rarely speak, but are famed for their loyalty.

Appearance: no anime. Drawn is fine however.

Personality: (I’ll be really studying what you put here to determine what creature I give your character. But this doesn’t mean I’ll be giving your character a Demon type because they’re loud and “fiery” or whatever, so don’t drop any hints like that either lol.

What would your character have been had their beast not been summoned?**after you know what your beast is: how did their family react to their Guardian being summoned? etc)

Personality: rough and rugged describe Roque well. When given a task he must see it through. He pushes his students hard because he believes struggle is the most efficient way to become stronger. He's patient and has a keen sense of control over his emotions. Its difficult for him, however, to concede defeat or error. Roque loves glory and power- and at times he may seem bloodthirsty and ambitious.

Bio: He graduated from the Militial Academy of the capital a year ago- a division that some craftknights take when they plan on reaching the ranks that work alongside the Order and the Elemental Knights. However he was chosen to return to Degar and teach. It disappointed him that he would not be needed in the battles up north- but he had no say in the decision.

Guild status: Jacoby is a member in not-so-good standing of the guild. Though he has signed all the paperwork and jumped through all the initial hoops, he only ever performs his duties as a beast tamer when the mood strikes him. Most of the time though, Jacoby can be found chasing attractive barmaids, pulling off yet another daring crime, or doing other things of a self-serving nature. When he does help out the guild though, there is no usual task for him. 1 day he could be herding away peaceful creatures, and the next he could be hunting down a pack of the more dangerous varieties of them.

Personality: Jacoby is a charming yet ruthless man who does what he likes, takes what he likes, and goes where he likes with little to no regard for the law or the well being of other people in the general vicinity. He's always on the lookout for an opportunity to make some gold, enjoy the company of a pretty woman, or to simply amuse himself in someway. His pursuit of his 3rd objective occasionally causes him to remember his obligations to the guild, but most of the time it doesn't. Jacoby is a combat pragmatist and also somewhat of a coward at heart. He isn't above using fighting tactics of questionable honorability or abandoning a fight and any who are fighting at his side should the tide turn against him.
Bio: Jacoby was born and raised on the streets of the island's largest city. To make a living, he stole from anywhere and anyone that seemed like a lucrative yet low-risk target. As he grew older, his thefts became more daring. And since Jacoby made it a point to not be spotted during his crimes and to wear a mask just in case he did, his face could not be found on a single wanted poster. Things start to get interesting during Jacoby's 16th year. He had been set up to take a fall by a group of mainland thieves he had been working with on a big score. Cornered and with the guards closing in, all Jacoby could do was await his capture. But then a miracle occurred. Jacoby's beast appeared for the 1st time and helped him evade capture and get revenge on those who had set him up. By the time the thieves discovered that their prize had been replaced with a box of chocolates and an insulting note, they were already back on the mainland. After that, Jacoby went straight back to crime. His lack of respect for the law meant he was very slow to sign up with the guild. It was only after 4 years of crime, women, and general entertainment that he finally joined at the age of 20 out of boredom and for lack of a better option.

Armor:

Nil was born with grey skin and white hair, eventually it paled but his hair never seemed to achieve any color. He uses this to his advantage casting illusions on himself frequently to change his looks. His eyes are naturally grey but he constantly changes them as well, and wears almost exclusively white but very few people know this, given how often he casts his own illusions over them to bring color to the otherwise bland articles of clothing.
Weapon: Nil, being disinclined to fighting, has no weapons save whatever stick might be laying on the ground nearby.
Guild status: Nil has been with the guild for two years at this point, mostly specializing in public relations and cleanup after less than favorable altercations between monsters and the public. He only occasionally deals directly with the more menacing monsters. As an illusionist he is very useful at distracting the more aggressive beasts while those more inclined to fighting can get a hand in. The smaller issues generally don’t get brought before him.

Personality: Nil, Nil, Nil. He’s often the type to hear his own name repeated three times after getting into too much trouble, and generally dragging someone with him after inspiring unworldly amounts of confidence within both them and in turn himself. He is the king of tangential pep talks that always seem to loop back around to the main point, the duke of forgetting an exit strategy and the absolute emperor of luck. Nil tends to be happy no matter the outcome of a situation, constantly repeating his mantra of “Nothing matters, enjoy yourself.” He also enjoys the occasional scare or prank, but knows when it’s time to work that messing around isn’t the best decision, but is always an option that should be considered. He is fairly flamboyant as well, dressing in flashy clothes and often using his illusions to change the color of his eyes and hair frequently. Did I mention his constant need for social interaction? He goes a bit mad without talking to people for too long, so he tends to work well in groups and keeps himself on the good side of the law. Strongly against killing those who he feels are victim of circumstance, but will gladly kill those who put others in those circumstances.

Bio: Nillander Dustwind, second son of the widow Frella Dustwind, mysteriously being born after her husband's passing, is the youngest of two boys. His older brother Eliwood was already studying to be a cleric by the time he was born but the two have met several times and get along well enough, but Eliwood is a cleric of a deity of travelling and is constantly on the move, so most meetings are kept short. Nil’s father is unknown, some say he’s a changeling or doppelganger given Nil’s inherent knack for illusions including the ones he performs on himself.
This innate magic ability was no fluke, he was born of it, like many others during a surprise magic surge. It infused itself into his body and he needs not study to cast spells, they come naturally to him. Of course, this means he made many a wizard seem foolish in his youth but it also meant that as he grew older and the traditional wizards around him studied and learned more spells, he seemed to begin falling behind the rest of his magic using cohort, seemingly unable to expand his abilities into other schools (other than charms, but that's a fairly recent development.) He became a one trick pony of sorts and took to the entertainment business by the age of 15, performing a variety of shows for a few gold here or there to help his mother put food on the table. These were things like magic tricks, acrobatics, acting in local plays, and anything he could use his talents for. Life was fairly quiet, he never really reached fame in other towns and was barely even a local celebrity by any means.
He used the stage name “The Great Jace”, and to his chagrin, many people only know him by this name. He even adopts an entirely new illusory look while he performs but people still somehow always recognized it was him, it wasn’t until he was 18 that he got the notion he should disguise his voice as well. With all the practice with illusions he was getting, he eventually started to catch up to his fellow magic users in terms of illusions, and currently resides slightly above the curve and with a bit of extra spending money in his pockets to show for it. His mother is just happy he’s around and not off adventuring like his brother. She’s surely in for a surprise when his Beast shows up.
