-HEROES: The world of Collateral Damage is populated by countless colorful superheros. No official ‘Superhero Teams’ have formed yet, but a number of notable names have surfaced.
War Child - One of the first known superheroes. Powerless. Killed by a man whose wife died while War Child was trying to ‘save’ her.
Supersonic - Generic speedster. He’s a bit of a dick, and due to the speeds he travels at he tends to liquefy bystanders when he passes them.
Meta Man - One of those ‘Flying Brick’ types. He’s notable for having wrecked the Empire State Building not once, not twice, but three times, typically by using it as an implement with which to smash villain’s faces.
Architect - Jane Marden, a super genius who invented advanced new construction equipment to lower costs and construction hurdles associated with Metahuman combat.

-VILLAINS:
Dr. Metamorpho - A small time crook with shapeshifting powers. He’s been in the news lately after having his head pulped by Supersonic.
Steve Cinnamic - He can temporarily ‘shut off’ Metahuman abilities temporarily. Notable for being Meta Man’s long time foe.

-HUNTERS: The Hunter program was started by Senator Joel Alvarez after one of his voting strongholds was annihilated by Meta Man in a fight. The Hunter Program consists largely of normal humans, though they do have Metas in their ranks. They intend to bag and tag as many Metas as they can, and generally speaking, prevent as much property damage as possible.

-All standard RPGuild rules apply.
-No power play, godmodding, assuming control of others characters, yadda yadda yadda.
-Your character isn’t a Dodge-God. You will get hit occasionally.
-In terms of killing others characters, ask their permission first. Unless they are in a ridiculously compromised position(ex. Running around in their underwear with a pot on their head, singing “clang clang went the Trolley!”), in which case I will give you my blessing to kill them.
-Shoot for a minimum of a paragraph per post. Every once in awhile is understandable,
-If you’re absent for a week, I’ll kill your character. If you plan to be absent for an extended period of time, we can reach some kind of conclusion. Obviously, life comes before RP.
-Even though this is less of an interaction-oriented RP, it’s not “Doc Tachyon’s Wacky n’ Wild Log Flume Adventure™”. I expect at least some character development.
-Got an idea for a big plot? Shoot me a PM, and we’ll talk.
-Although there will be lots of violence, try to keep the descriptions of the gore down to a PG-13 ish level. We don’t want to get kicked off the guild, now do we?
-Although there will be lots of destruction, let me know if you want to do something really big, like, leveling a skyscraper.
-Don’t spam the IC. Based on the level of interest displayed in the IC, wait at least 24 hours and 3 posts before posting again. This will change as interest winds down.

-Characters go in Character tab only after being approved by me in the OOC tab.
-Don’t necessarily feel limited to making someone who fits into a neat box of Hero, Villain, or Hunter. Hell, make a civilian if you want to. Just understand that certain character types will be more conducive to this RP.
-No restrictions on whether your character is an alien, human, android, whatever. Just note that I expect most characters to be human.
-Powers not required.
-I won’t accept more than two or three of the same power. I don’t want a world full of only superstrong tanks.
-In terms of power level, as an average, I’m shooting for about Spiderman to Cyclops level. Don’t sweat it if you’re off the power curve a bit, though. Just understand that the better you write, the more comfortable I’ll be with letting you have a more powerful character.
-While the goal here is destruction at a large scale, not every little thing is combat. I want characters, not living weapons.
-Two character a person to start with. If you prove yourself capable in RP, I’ll allot you more.

Alias: Reincarnated Odin (Re-Odin for short)

History: Sven was born as a reincarnated version of Odin, the all father. He doesn’t have many memories of himself as Odin, aside from a few memories that he has always remembered. Sven never discovered his huge amount of strength until his sister was almost his by a truck and he stopped it with his bare hands. Sadly this caused the trailer behind the truck to come off and roll right into a nearby building causing it to collapse. It was at this point that Sven knew for sure that he was a reincarnated Odin, though his power was limited and still is.
Other than that he has grown up with two loving parents and an older sister. Though now his older sister is known to the rest of the world as the re-incarnated Ymir. Due to a rather awful tearing between the two siblings have ended up on opposite sides of the law more than once.
Now Sven is a loving husband and family man who is trying to take care of his family. Thankfully there is plenty of work to be found for construction workers especially those as hard working and strong as him.

Personality: Sven is a very outspoken man. He isn’t afraid to speak his mind when it comes to arguments. He has always believed that by stating the truth a problem can be resolved quickly. Though he is wise like his namesake he does tend to forget about the bystanders when he is fighting. Thankfully due to having children of his own now he pays more attention when there are children around.

Skills: Sven is a rather wise man and also highly perceptive when it comes to buildings. He knows where to break a wall without bringing down the entire building, and where to attack to lessen the collateral damage. Sven is also very experienced in bar fighting and splitting up fights.

Abilities: Sven being born as a reincarnated Odin doesn’t quite have all of the same powers. What he does have however is a huge amount of strength, enough to lift a car with ease. He also has the ability to speak with birds and can use them as a sort of information network when needed. Another ability he has though it isn’t important to fighting, is that in order to get drunk he would have to drink at least an entire barrel of beer. Sven is for the most part bullet proof. However he is severely weak in the elbows, knees, and ankles along with his neck. As such he often is seen protecting his neck when being shot at. His healing is also rather slow resulting in him taking months to fully recover from injuries to his joints.

Equipment: Sven doesn’t wear any armor of the most part, aside from a pair of protective gloves to keep his hands from bleeding when punching things. Though what he does commonly have is a raven named Bob who acts as a sort of receptionist to his information network.

Personality: Johnny’s loyalty and concerns are for five things in order, God, country, corps, family, self. A man of few words he has no desire to be the center of attention or in the spotlight ever, and he manifests this by remaining quiet, only becoming vocal if his input is required or if he is comfortable and in the presence of well-known friends. Johnny is very intelligent, but prefers to follow orders rather than giving them out. He carries a passion for serving his nation in whatever direction that takes, and he holds strong religious views in regards to Judaism.

While Johnny prefers being alone he has no problem functioning within a team. His line of work demands it as a priority, and though Johnny doesn’t like relying on anyone else he will get the assigned mission done with a simpleminded purpose and aid his companions in that same goal. This folds over into his civilian life as well as evidenced by a neatly kept room and a strict schedule. Johnny lives a very Spartan lifestyle, not one to party or hang, and as a result he has very few interpersonal relationships. He doesn’t regret this aspect of his life but likes it, because he holds a strong belief that dating is a waste of time. Instead he would rather study for his college degree in Forensic Science, serve his nation in the field, blow things up, and play chess, which he is quite good at.

Appearance: Johnny is a black haired Caucasian male standing at a height of 5’8” and weighing about 140lbs. He’s not skinny but he isn’t largely muscular either, though his back and arms seem slightly disproportioned from an angle. His face is kept neatly shaven and his hair cropped in a close fade. Johnny’s jaw is well defined, even at the age of eighteen, from rigorous military training. He also possess a large nose positioned high between his green eyes. Typically, Johnny wears either a plain grey t-shirt and basketball shorts or his Special Ops combat uniform, rarely dressing in anything less practical.

History: Johnny grew up on a ranch in northern Arkansas with his parents and two siblings. He had a fairly normal childhood, though for some reason that he couldn’t quite figure out he was extremely sought after by men in black suits, and underwent a few more medical tests then his sister or brother ever endured. When he got older he learned from trained medical professionals that he was “special” and would have to remain a participant in Project Meljay over the course of his childhood. A program dedicated to discovering just how special Johnny truly was. His life went on as usual, with occasional trips to military bases to undergo the Project’s testing. This is what sparked in Johnny a love for the life of a warrior.

In his teenage years Johnny became a member in JROTC and also found interest in archery, he excelled at both and soon won several color guard and archer competitions, quickly becoming a decorated JROTC cadet. His dedication set him on the path to becoming a future Marine and warrior. Meanwhile his powers were being sharpened by the scientists at Project Meljay, he could hear, see, smell, feel, and taste at levels that surpassed most creatures in the animal kingdom.

At age seventeen Johnny accomplished his dream and joined the Marine Corps reserve forces, hoping to complete a college degree and become an officer. However these plans were slightly changed when, after completing his Marine training, he was sent to join a new hunter program to help “control” the other, more dangerous Meta-humans. Johnny showed some reluctance however he could not change his orders and so he joined, convincing himself it was the right thing to do.

Powers/Abilities: Johnny’s powers are nearly all focused around enhanced senses. His ability to smell, hear, see, feel, and taste are all massively multiplied beyond those of a normal human. It is speculated that Johnny possess a heighted sixth sense as well, able to tap into an ability to determine things moments before it happens, or even being aware of supernatural forces in the world around him. This however can be attributed to him being able to sense vibrations in the air or ground, or being able to see threats before anyone else, but Johnny is still learning the limits of his powers. All of them combined makes him an excellent forensic analyst, and nearly impossible to sneak up on.

Besides his powers Johnny is a fully trained Marine and well versed in Krav Maga and other specialized military tactics taught to him by the Hunter project’s agents. His training involved working under extreme stress, and combat conditioning, and how to operate amongst civilian operations and how to remain safely undercover in dangerous situations.

Equipment: Armed with a personalized compound bow and a silenced .45 pistol, a quiver of specialized arrows and a belt of bullet magazines Johnny is set to kill or capture. When in full gear Johnny can have a range of tactical devices specifically prepared for each target, also a few explosives just for good measure. His uniform is set with bullet resistant body armor and protective gear for his head, elbows, and knees.

Name: Mary Martin

Gender: Female

Appearance:

Mary is a slender girl of average height and often-beaming smile. Her short brown hair comes down to her neck and is often swept into a bang, and she's usually swaying or pacing, almost never staying still. In her civilian guise she tends to wear sneakers, jeans and a cheap blouse, sometimes throwing a jean jacket on when it gets cold. Her 'Current' costume is cobbled together from a black one-piece bathing suit, combat boots, a pair of stockings and two sleeves she cut off of a black jumpsuit. She covers her eyes with a dark-red rubber mask that doesn't quite match the color scheme she's going for, which she's a bit insecure about.

Identity: Public? Is that the one where people know about her as a villain, but she still has a secret identity?

History: Mary was born in a poor neighborhood on the outskirts of New York City, the second of three children. Times were hard growing up, but her parents always somehow managed to provide enough to keep lights on and bellies full - at least until her father was arrested for stealing from his job at a luxury watch store when she was seventeen. When she graduated high school, she got a job as a barista in a Manhattan starbucks to help support her family. That was around when her abilities manifested.

The first bolt of lightning she manifested was a total accident and may have blown a hole clean through a chainlink fence. Learning to control her powers was a several-month long process involving lots of fried garbage cans and a few bruises - it was a lot easier to decide what to do with them. She hadn't thought of herself as a thief; not before she stood up from her coffee table one night, sick of the power being shut off and sick of her family's landlord and sick of being poor. That was the first time she blasted a hole in the wall of a jewelry store and carried off an armful of diamond necklaces, and it felt good.

That was a few months ago. She's only been getting bolder since then, taking more and more and hitting bigger and bigger targets. She still works that barista job now as cover, fencing her ill gotten gains (and giving ten percent to charitable causes, of course) and living in her own apartment in Brooklyn.

Personality: Mary is bubbly, friendly, and generally totally unsupervillain-like. She's an incorrigible optimist and a terrible flirt, able to justify all her thieving under the blanket of 'stealing from rich people isn't so bad. She doesn't like hurting people, but she'd be lying if she said that she hadn't found her occasional clash with a metahuman do-gooder thrilling, and she'll incapacitate anyone without hesitation if it proves necessary. Of course, her outer cheer and playfulness is something of a cover for and inner pragmatism; She's not without compassion for others, but her primary concern is always for her and hers. She takes care of herself and the people close to her to the best of her abilities, and she sleeps just fine at night. Finally, she has a keen mind for problem-solving, but tends not to think long term, with many of her plans having clear and distant flaws that she just doesn't think of.

Skills: She speaks a bit of Russian, but that's just something she picked up from her neighbors as a kid. Otherwise, she relies on her power for just about everything. Mary's sharp, but a high school education and a job in a coffee shop doesn't teach a person many supervillain-friendly skills. The only real exception is her excellent physical condition, the product of a long jog to work every morning for the past two years.

Abilities: Mary can create and manipulate bolts of electricity, mainly using them as projectiles with power ranging from 'stun' to 'melt a hole in a steel wall', though the latter would take some charging. She can also move quickly and 'sort-of' fly using this power, though it tends to involve a lot of lightning bolts spraying in every direction, and is very hard to control, turning her into something of a careening missile of disaster. Weaknesses wise, her powers are quite tiring to use and have very limited defensive applications; she can sort of make a lightning hamster ball, but otherwise she is very much a glass cannon, albeit a high-powered and very fast one.

Equipment: Aside from a makeshift costume and a mattress full of stolen money, jewelry, gold bars etc.? Not really.

Name: Gabriel Mattingly
Gender: Male
Appearance: A human male of mixed decent—half-Scotch-Irish, half-Puerto-Rican. On the shorter side, coming up at 5’8, but at least it’s a height much easier to lug around than those bulky 6’6 flying bricks. He has an endomorphic build, and often is forced to watch his weight to keep himself light enough for takeoff. His head is shaved, though back when he kept a full head of hair it was dark brown, nearly black. His nails are kept long and clawlike. His eyes are green—bright green, contrasting sharply with his cerulean sclera. His body is covered with a multitude of scars from past fights—most notably: a cluster of nicks along his jaw from a wave of shrapnel (this is why he wears a helmet now), two gashes on his back, and a chunk scooped from his right leg that causes considerable pain when running for extended periods of time. Swooping out from his shoulder blades is a pair of feathered wings: 25-foot wingspan, colored in vibrant reds and blues like a macaw.
Back when he was a Hero, Gabriel felt the need to keep every aspect of his metahumanism hidden. During this time he would buy false teeth to cover his fangs, put in contact lenses, and wear exclusively baggy sweatshirts to hide his folded-up wings.
…And then he became a Hunter, and realized that he was fooling nobody with that. Now he wears loose-fitting t-shirts most of the time, paired with jeans. Basic, but cheap; what’s the point of buying a nice shirt if you’re just going to cut holes in the back for your ridiculous bird wings, anyway?
He didn’t really feel the need to change any aspect of his Hero identity when he became a Hunter, so when on the prowl he still wears what he wore back then. A sleek black bodysuit for top aerodynamic performance; layered over this is a set of loose red cloth, tied around the waist. This cloth is also secured by a belt, which holds four bags of throwing knives. Often he wears an arrowhead-shaped helmet with a large crest sailing into the air, perfect for slicing somebody from below. It is in the shape of a snake’s head, and covers his eyes. Around his neck is a completely decorative amulet in the shape of a conch shell cut at the cross-section and done up in fancy stones.

History: Usually one is lucky enough to have their metahuman abilities manifest in, say, adolescence. Gabriel Mattingly was a special case. From birth he has sported wings: first tiny skin-covered things that grew and grew and grew into massive limbs capable of a kind of hover-flight.
His parents were horrified. The whole family ended up relocating to a small mountainside home, both to avoid the public eye and to give the young Gabriel ample cliffs to literally spread his wings. He was twenty-two when he finally left home—homeschooled, with no plans to go to college—and became a Hero. And for a while, it was great. He was really able to hone his flying into something concrete and impressive, as well as conjure up massive windstorms to rattle around the bad-guys into submission. And every day, once the job was done, he was able to take the helmet off, peel the suit from his body, and head home, content to visit his ageing parents.
And then it all changed when a Hero sent the entire Empire State Building into his mountain in order to squash the devil-portal that had opened up inside (or something like that), and those parents were killed instantly.
It broke him.
For two years, the Hero known as Quetzalcoatl vanished off the face of the Earth. Many assumed he had died—that’s what the papers said, anyways. No one really knew what happened.
Until he stepped forward and told them. Yes, on that fateful that in which he stood at age 25, looking worse-for-wear on account of his new smoking addiction and completely shaved head, he told all. His story, his identity, it was all laid out for the ravenous public.
Everyone figured that this was it—that he would fade back into obscurity, and the world would forget the name of Quetzalcoatl. Maybe they’d learn how to spell it in the meantime.
…And then he became a Hunter.
Yeah, he’s kind of hated by most Heroes now. They call him a traitor, he calls them a bunch of kids, they go back and forth. It’s all in good fun, if you count good fun as trying to beat the shit out of one another whenever possible.

Personality: People will jokingly call him a bitter old man. He is quick to frustrate, especially when it comes to those “damn tryhards with their gaudy capes”—a particular trigger is whenever one brings up his Hero past. He has an incredibly cynical view on life, and figures that if the Hunters fail to round up all of the Heroes and Villains terrorizing the streets then they’ll end up destroying each other anyway. The only reason why what he does is any different is because it takes less time. His self-esteem is something to be pitied—most of his humor derives from self-deprecating jokes or ambiguous references to suicide. Being raised on an isolated mountain certainly did a toll on his social interaction, as he prefers the company of himself to the point where he has taken up residence in the charred crater that used to be his childhood home. Whenever forced to interact with his fellow Hunters, he comes across as cold, awkward, and confrontational.

Abilities:
- Flight
Using his wings, he can fly upwards of two-hundred feet in the air. However, this requires a lot of energy; think twenty minutes of flight = the energy required to run a 5K, and any overexertion can result in awful, awful cramps. Seriously guys, ice pack on the joints for like, three days. It sucks.
- Wind Manipulation
At perfect health, he could hypothetically create tornadoes, dust devils, waterspouts, and wind storms using the air roared from within. But being a smoker does a number on your lungs, as does living off of Nature Valley bars, so more often than not he can, at best, buffet around an enemy a bit. Maybe throw them into a corner…knock them down, maybe…get something in their eyes…wheeze. But ignoring offence, he can also manipulate the air around him while flying to lighten the strain and increase his speed.
- Fangs
Just a mouthful of pain. Though seeing as more often than not he pursues his enemies whilst torpedoing through the air, and that said enemies are likely to have armor, or plated skin, or some kind of protection that would otherwise require a more-than-adequate hold to puncture, these bad boys are better off used for opening beer bottles at parties.
- Shifting
If a problem is too intense to face with wit, finesse, and puffs of air, then with enough energy and concentration Quetzal can alter his form into a slightly stronger version; his skin becomes tough and green, his senses sharpen, his stamina improves, he becomes stronger—he even grows a bit taller!
…I mean, hypothetically. It’s only happened once or twice in his life, and goddamn does it take a lot out of him. The last time he remembered shifting, it was a life-or-death scenario—the incident, in fact—and afterwards he found himself taking a solid week off just to rest. It’s been years, now. He’s not even sure if he can do it anymore.
Equipment:
Throwing knives – four sets of twelve, stored in four bags secured around his waist. Each measures six inches in length, is made of steel, and can hit a specified target at high speeds via Quetzal’s gusts of air. Not always knives, but always something lightweight and pointy.
Blowpipe – oh my god this thing is ridiculous. It’s a two-foot-long hardwood pipe used for firing poisonous darts at foes from great distances. It never even hit one target, but back when Quetzal was in the hero business the media kind of made it his trademark. He was glad to be rid of it upon becoming a Hunter, but secretly he desires to become very skilled at using it; so he hasn’t gone ahead and gotten rid of it just yet.
