Alex Rovan

Campus Dorms

Dropping his bag onto the bed, Alex's room could be considered quaint, if anything. Needless to say, he wasn't used to this. A past blanketed by drunken abuse never quite offered him such luxuries. "Isn't this a little much?" A soft voice came to break the silence, the young Reaper lowering himself to the foundation of the mattress, a gentle sigh escaping his lips as those black eyes traveled to a picture on his phone. Two woman stared back at him, warming smiles present on their lips, matched only by the sunny day embracing their shapes.

"Want me to ask for a shed?" Another voice came to accompany Alex, this one somewhat ghostly in its execution.

"Heh, that'd be more familiar." The Reaper joked, closing his eyes before shutting that screen off.

"You'll have to forget about them, you know." The voice returned, a shadowy crow appearing on Alex's shoulder, its shape hard to make out from a distance due to the somewhat incorporeal nature of the creature. "Nothing good comes from involving yourself, with them."

"They think I'm dead." Alex interjected. "It's for the best, I know." He sighed, shaking his head somewhat before ascending to his feet. It was time to change the subject. Alex and Umbra had been through this several times in the past, and it always ended the same way. They agreed that he had to get over his past, and most of all, put it behind him. "You've been looking around. See anyone interesting?" Somewhat of a habit since his new job became part of his life, Alex had a tendency of letting Umbra scout ahead and fill him in on what he was getting himself into. In truth though, Alex never had much choice, in coming to this academy. Before Death's embrace, he was just a normal person. He neither believed in, nor had he ever seen anything supernatural. Magic was a dream, pure fiction. Now, he was surrounded, by it.

"You have interesting school mates, that's for sure." Umbra flew towards the windowsill where he landed. "A witch." He began. "Steadfast, and appropriately so."

"A witch? The 'I'll turn you into a toad' kind?" Alex commented, leaning against the window as his eyes traced the vast exterior of the academy.

"More the 'I'll turn you into an icicle' kind." Umbra corrected. "You'll like this one. A dragon."

There was a short moment of silence, Alex's brow raised at the statement. "They're real?"

"Come now, Alex. If you're going to be surprised by everything, you'll drive yourself into a stupor." Umbra shot back, chuckling softly at the young Reaper. Alex was still new, to the job. He still had much to learn, and even more so about the supernatural world, hence his presence at the school. "What about Werewolves? That also surprises you?"

"Keeping an open mind." Alex retorted, smirking down at the bird.

"Good." The shadowy crow began. "He seems like a decent fellow, but be on your guard. Lycans are known for being impulsive and unpredictable."

"Alright. Anyone else?" The Reaper continued, looking at the various students moving about on the courtyard, outside.

"An owl creature. Highly reclusive. I am surprised to see one here, to be honest." Umbra flew back up to Alex's shoulder. "She's more the reserved type. You two might get along."

"I seem to, with birds." The young man chuckled, nudging the crow.

"Hah, keep your charms locked up, kid." The crow joked. "There's another lycan you need to look out for, as well. This one's a female, and she seems to be somewhat on edge around the other one."

"They're enemies?" Alex blinked, moving from the window, back to the bed where he lied down with a heavy yawn.

"Not, that I know." Umbra flew up before landing on Alex's chest. "Moving on. There's an Oni, here. Don't be scared of her, but again, keep on your toes."

"Geez, Umbra. Is everyone dangerous?" The Reaper rubbed his forehead.

"Everyone can be dangerous. Just don't get enemies, where you don't need them." The crow instructed. "You'll see a skeleton, walking around. You're not to Shepherd, him. It's not your place, to do a Reaper's job within the confines of this school. You're here to learn."

"Alright, noted." Alex responded. A walking skeleton. That's not odd.

"Then there's...one individual, who might interest you more, than you know." Umbra continued, somewhat cryptic in his words.

"Care to elaborate on that, one?"

"An Eaten. Complicated creatures, and a constant point of frustration for Reapers. Their curse is immense, and seems to resist any and all attempts to remove it." The crow finished, earning the Reaper's interest.

"Damn..."

"A giant of a man, hard to miss. He's a rather mystical being, indeed. The ancients used to worship his kind."

"So, a God? That's...nice. Who's left?"

"A creature of absolute darkness. You might find her intriguing, but like always, be careful of where you tread." Umbra continued, nearing a conclusion. "Finally, we're ending it on a less than explosive note with something that would seem mundane compared to what you've heard so far."

"This has to be good." Alex sat up, leaning against the back of his bed.

"A human." Umbra concluded, seeing how the Reaper was blinking in confusion. Ironic, how the most surprising thing he could possibly hear about, was a human

Viik

“This man, this blithering dumbass of man, he say, ‘I paid for a golem with a turret on its back, and you tell me I have to load it with my own bullets?’ I thought that would be taken care of’.”

Viik was lugging around two suitcases full of a myriad of different arcane materials. Behind him was a golem of his own creation, standing a whole head and shoulders taller than him, pulling a luggage trolley stacked to the brim with various slabs of gray rock.

“And Viik says, ‘Okay, sit down, Viik is going to learn you a thing. Viik is not ‘ammomancer’, he does not know how to make magical bullets that self-replicate. He is very certain that is impossible. What Viik DOES know, however, is that .50 caliber bullet is motherfucker, and very useful even against many creatures. And they’re not impossible to get, if you believe in yourself hard enough.’ And the man, he says- are you listening?”

Viik stopped and looked at the white cobra wrapped around his arm, Siraan. She met his blank stare with her own, giving no verbal response. As usual.

“You continue to say nothing to Viik.” He said in turn, “He is starting to believe you are not Familiar. Just some random snake that managed to find her way into Viik’s home, and inadvertently lead him on magical journey to arcane educational institution.”

Again, no response from the cobra.

“You make Viik uncomfortable.” He began scanning the immediate hallway around him. “Now… desk-clerk say Viik’s room is where?” He eyed several doors, but none of them matched the information on his slip of paper.

“Oh well. Viik will just have to keep looking. Onward, Pesco!”

And so Viik and his golem henchman continued their search for an abode.

Varos

Varos took a moment to look outside, seeming quite content with having a place so high up where he could look down at everyone, it was quite satisfying on an instinctual level. Not to mention there were all sorts he'd never seen here before. Nothing that seemed to threatening to an amazing dragon like himself of course. He'd watch for a bit before turning his attention to back to the technological 'wonders' of the apartment room.

Varos of course would be aware of Ivy as she entered, turning around to face her with a friendly, toothy smile. “Ah, so you're one of the two I'll be sharing a lair with.” He said, looking over her up and down, she looked human but something seemed off about that. “I'm Varos. It's my first year here so I'm still learning my way around things, I'm not particular familiar with human devices.” he'd offer, pondering his words a little longer before adding “Not that I need them of course.”

He did take a bit of an interest in Leka though. Not because he was up on the couch, it's not like a dragon would have a problem with loose fur or anything. It was more that he'd not really seen a dog like that before. “Is this your pet? Never seen a creature like this before” he'd ask with a bit of a point toward him. He was a little unsure what to do with pets, his normal form tended to scare animals away after all.

Ash

Ash walked off to the farthest end of the library, seemingly having left entirely, there were many people in there, and too many eyes to be set upon him and his book so he needed to find a quiet corner. Ash pulled the book from his jacket and looked it over intently, he honestly didn't believe that Yg'ntha found one, this wasn't the only of its kind but each one is different, a journal, of a hunter, one specifically that hunter werewolves. So, you actually decided to take your head out of the oven and work then? Good for you, now you need to study, maybe you might not die after all. Krasis chirped as he landed upon Ash's shoulder. With a grimace, Ash undid the lockstrap and opened the book.

"The Journal of Nathan Grimshaw. Werewolf hunter."

He didn't actually call himself a werewolf hunter did he? I'm surprised he even got to write a journal before dying. Ash thought to himself as he began to read the opening pages. This man, Grimshaw, his life was fascinating, but it was soon apparent why he lived as long as he had, he was only hunting strays, none of the names in his book were from Ash's pack, at least not yet. he spoke about beheading being effective, and that silver was only good at slowing them down, though he had a couple of interesting theories that Ash found particularly effective if done right.
Ash closed the book and rubbed the bridge of his nose, reading about this was hard, werewolves dying was never a good thing for another wolf, however he knew it needed to be done. Ash reached into he pocket and pulled out a small metal case, he opened it up and inside were five white, hand rolled cigarettes, and one black cigarette separated from the rest, he took out a white cigarette and put it in his mouth, but as soon as the lighter came to light it, a black tendril from nowhere rose from the ground and put out the lighter. In the back of his head he could hear Yg'ntha, "Y̨ou̢ k̸ǹo̷w҉,͟ ̴that͞ s̷m͞oking ͞and ̀o̧p̛en͝ ҉fl͝am̛es̴,̸ ̀a͜re no͢t ́p̨er͞mi̴t͏ted̷ ͝w͞i̡thi̢n̸ ̴t̕h̡e ͜L̴i͜br̨a͠r̡y͘, ̡i͠f̡ ̷you̧ ̵w͢is̡h t͠o c͟h̢ar ̀yơu̡rse͘l̨f͠,̀ ͢re͞m̡ov̛ę you͘r͠sel̸f̷ ͞f̢rom the Lib́r̡ar̵y͏ fi̕r̢sţ."̡ Ash could only sigh and he put the cigarette away.

Alex Rovan

Campus Dorms

Stepping out of the bathroom, newly showered with a pair of comfortable shorts covering his legs, and a newly acquired t-shirt making its way across his torso, Alex reached for the remote control on the coffee table. A soft yawn managed to escape his lips, Umbra keeping his shadowy eyes on the ever moving scene outside the window, as was his habit. ”Want to watch something, Umbra?”

“I am.” The bird responded, not moving from his spot.

”...I meant on the television.” The Reaper sighed, raising an eyebrow before dropping down on the sofa. This was the first time Alex had been able to relax since his life was turned upside down. Actually dying, becoming a Reaper and being tossed into the academy wasn’t something a person could sleep away with a nap.

Suddenly, a series of knocks on the door. “Hello? Anyone is home?” Came a muffled, strange-sounding voice from outside.

Perking up at the sound, Alex shifted his attention to the door, with Umbra’s position immediately changed to Alex’s shoulder. ”Company?”

“Seems so.” Umbra returned, positioned upon the Reaper’s shoulder as Alex ascended to his feet and approached the door, gently pulling it open to see the creature outside. Needless to say, wide eyes met the sight he had been offered, a soft gulp traveling down his throat.

"..." Finding himself dumbfounded, Alex tried to regain his composure before appearing rude. ”H-hello...” He tried.

“Ah!” The figure said in a tone of excitement, somehow speaking without a mouth it seemed. “You are Viik’s new roommate!” He added, proceeding to move one of his gray, stone arms forward, taking Alex’s hand and shaking it profusely. “Good hello!” He said, as he patted Alex’s shoulder, grabbed two leather suitcases resting at his feet, and moved inside. Alex only then noticed the large, bipedal golem made of the same gray stone push a luggage trolley into the dorm, stacked full with more of the strange material. Obviously there was a theme going on here.

A forced, albeit awkward smile bridged across Alex’s lips, and for anyone able to read any level of social cues or body language, he’d appear highly confused. Though the Reaper displayed a rather calm exterior, a telepathic conversation with his familiar did not follow along the same path. ”What the hell is that!?” An internal voice echoed across the room, towards the bird whom had left Alex’s shoulder to curiously land on the sofa’s armrest.

“It appears to be a golem. How fascinating. They are prevalent in jewish mythology.” Umbra responded calmly. “It has been quite a while since I’ve seen one. Interesting.”

”What!? Wh-what about that other thing!? The...the...what is that!?” Obviously aimed at Viik, Alex’s gaze was fixed on the creature with confusion washing over him like a blanket.

“Ah, that. That is...I don’t know.” Umbra yielded. If only birds could shrug.

”You don’t know!? How don’t you know? You know everything!”

“That is not correct.” Umbra finished, flapping his wings to once more land on Alex’s shoulder.

With a deep breath, the Reaper tried to regain his composure once more, and spoke. ”I-I’m Alex...” He stammered.

“Alex!” Viik replied, “Good name. Subtle. Versatile. No one expects an Alex.” He looked around the entirety of the dorm after setting his luggage down, hands at his sides. “Ah… a little lavish, but Viik will get by.” He then turned back towards Alex and approached him, waving a hand in his direction.

“Viik wishes to know what species you are. For better relationship-making.”

”I’m a Reaper, er...in training. S-still learning...” Alex returned, peering forward, seeing this as an opportunity to maybe get some answers. ”What are you..

“It’s not obvious?” Viik replied, “Viik is Viik! And he doesn’t have to be anything else. Heh!” It was at that moment that he turned his head back towards his golem and said aloud, “Pesco! Claim unoccupied room for Viik!” The golem offered no response or gesture of acknowledgement, simply taking the luggage trolley full of stone slabs and moving out of view.

As Viik watched the golem move away, something slithered out of the collar section of his robe, winding around his neck and resting on his shoulder. A female cobra, with a skin of white. As he took notice, he turned back to Alex and said, “Ah, and this is Siraan. She is supposed to be Viik’s Familiar but, Viik thinks she is broken somehow.”

No comment came from the cobra. She just rested there, staring at Alex. She flicked her black tongue for a brief second.

“See?” Viik added, “Hasn’t said a word since Viik met her.”

The more they talked, the more comfortable Alex seemed to be getting with this entire situation. It would be a stretch to say that he could look at Viik without feeling his skin crawl, but at the very least, he could hold a conversation with the creature on a decent enough level. ”Uhm...” Alex began, clearing his throat before motioning to the crow, with his thumb. ”This is Umbra, my familiar.” Alex spoke, tilting his head somewhat as he gazed at the snake. She did seem somewhat...mundane, in the way she acted. That was for sure. ”Maybe...” Alex thought, scratching the back of his head. ”Maybe she needs to get more comfortable, around you?”

“Maybe is case.” Viik replied, wagging his finger near Siraan’s head, not receiving any notice from her. “Maybe she is just normal snake and there has been major error on behalf of University. Or maybe, her brain is damaged. Viik is unsure.” He paused for a moment more before moving to an entirely different topic - “There is to be third person with us, yes? Viik does not know who or what they are.”

“Uhm, everyone we’ve seen so far, seems to have been settled.” Alex spoke, casually motioning towards the entrance. On his way to this dorm, most were occupied and filled. ”Don’t know who’ll stay, with us.” The Reaper finished, turning to look at the snake. It halfway felt like it would strike, at any moment. ”Oh, uh. The shower’s over there, and you’ve picked a room so...that’s that.”

“Viik has no need of showers.” Viik responded, “Viik just moisturizes second skin and uses enchanted cologne to get rid of horrible seeping odor. You can’t smell it, Viik knows - you would be vomiting horribly then.” He said this, and then turned to move back into the center of the dorm.

“Viik also has no need of sustenance besides liquids, so he will be keeping many bottled waters in refrigerator. Oh, and uh…” He turned towards Alex once again, “Viik is, you see, craftsman. Golems, limbs, various arcane apparatuses, Viik does all these things and more. So if you are displeased by sounds of work, please let Viik know and he will oblige.”

Alex was still trying to get over the first part of Viik’s explanations. He never showered? He smelled so bad, so that Alex would vomit, if he ever came in contact, with it? That wasn’t very assuring, not at all. Trying to get past that incredibly disgusting fact, Alex blinked a few times and nodded. ”C-craftsman, got it...” He stated. ”I’m...I’m sure there’ll be no issue.”

“Wonderful!” Viik replied, holding out his arms. As he did, a loud thud was heard in the nearby bedroom. “Pesco!” Viik called out, marching in the direction of the sound, out of the Reaper’s view.

“Stop freaking out.” Umbra’s voice came to bless the young Reaper, making its way into his mind.

”Easy to say! But...I’m trying.” Alex returned, his thought reaching Umbra.

“Sit down, and relax. He’ll see that you’re losing your cool.” Umbra instructed, seeing how the Reaper quietly obliged and returned to the sofa, where he sat.

Katarina

As Kat finished her breakfast and guzzled down the entire carton of milk fishing off with an earth rumbling burp she could actually give some real attention to what Om was asking of herself and the other roommate. Whale chops sounded large, but also delicious, maybe if she sautéed it with some garlic along with parsley and salmon, while thinking about it, she wondered how creating a sauce with the juices would taste the entire concept caused a low growl to erupt from her stomach cutting the silence. Kat was just about to answer him a knock came at the door and being that she was the only one presently standing up, she decided to get it, upon opening the door that creaked from being handled so roughly by both her and Om a large trunk was laying on the floor with her name written across the top; her clothes. Her mother must have had them delivered to her room, hoping her only child managed to stumble into the room after last night, chuckling to herself picking up the trunk with one arm and closing the door with the other.

“It sounds alright to me so long as you don’t mind sharing also I happen to love milk all flavors so we may be out quite a bit, can’t speak for gold-y here” Katarina said, looking over Lola letting her tongue glaze lightly over her lips as she disappeared into her room to throw down the trunk.

Popping it open she inspected the clothes her mother sent her wasted no time in stripping down to her bare brown sherry skin, replacing them with a sports bra and a baggy pair of sweat pants. Light breakfast or not she still needed to exorcise to maintain her body shape; hooking her fingers under her bra and fixing to actually fix her bust grunting at the fact it was just a little too small for her but for now she’ll have to deal.

“I don’t suppose you got that body of yours for free huh, feel like running around the campus a few times?” She asked walking back into the main room.

Ethra

Ethra had bid Griffin, Haka-Mesuka, and the armored skeleton in the library farewell after their brief discussion regarding the Eaten’s being. She politely excused herself to tour the University grounds, unsure if she would end up in the cafeteria, or maybe just head back to her dorm. She said she’d see when it happened.

As she exited the library, she passed Yg’ntha, thanking her for the books, and saying she’d enjoy listening to her explain what she is. ‘Child of the Filthmonger’ she had said earlier. The name alone warranted a fair bit of interest.

Ethra made her way along the cobblestone pathways, enjoying the cool breeze flowing in between the buildings, gently shifting her feathers around. As she rounded a corner, something up ahead caught her interest. Two short figures, standing beside each other, on the side of the path. They were both completely featureless, wearing drab clothes, and they had skin that looked to be wood. It was as if they were both little trees shaped like human beings. Something… connected the two, a branch of some sort, protruding from each of their heads. At the middle of the length was a large growth, with a faint orange light emanating from within it. Three other branches stemmed from the growth, but they did not connect to more wooden beings - as if they had been severed at some point. The ends of the branches were fitted with small ornaments with an unrecognizable language written on each of them.

Memorials?

As she approached their general area, she saw that they were both holding odd string instruments, looking awfully similar to lutes. The duo flicked their hands thrice in unison, and then began to play. A fast, whimsical tune filled the air around all of them, and the performing duo quickly began to catch the attention of several passing students, including Ethra.

She was captivated by them. Not just their music, but their… everything.

Lola

Lola allowed the black suucor to wash her being in caffeinated revitalization. It was cheap coffee-- disgustingly cheap-- Lola wasn't a miracle worker with the slots, but she knew she could afford better. Still in spite of that-- or rather, because of it, the cup did it's job all the better. The mud tasted like home, and with a glass in her system, she felt one again. Her mug bore the words 'world's best mother.' Just like a mother would-- the black energy, coffee as black as midnight on a moonless night, coursed through her system, keeping her awake, alive, and in a state of appropriate existential being around her euclidian classmates.

Speaking of her classmates-- she generally ignored the two as she prepared the pot and drank full-- but she catch the important parts of their conversation. She knew Om, she'd seen the living mountain before, obviously, who hadn't? Kat-- she'd said was her name-- was new, to Lola, at least. Neither seemed to be too troubled or even particularly susceptible to stress, certainly not enough to provide significant garmonbozia. She supposed that meant she'd spend most of her nights eating out...

Lola poured herself a second glass. She'd felt her stores of energy returning. Her connection to the void, the Black Lodge in the woods, her ability to interact with people-- all rushed back. She always forgot how hard the jump here was, until it was too late. She let out a little sigh. "Humm..." Her coffee became like motor oil-- and then even thicker, like molasses.
Lola tilted the cup, while Om suggest laying down ground rules-- the coffee poured out slowly, never quite touching the ground-- until it developed the elastic consistency of rubber, and contracted back into the now upside down mug. Flicking the mug back up in her wrist, the coffee became like liquid once more, "Wow, MOM. Wow." She muttered.

After answering the door, Kat was the first to respond to Om. Though, Lola had taken to allowing her eyes to settle on the man. Staring at him as she sipped her endless mug of coffee. There was a depth to him he wasn't allowing others to see. Her Jade eye sparkled, she only caught the end of Kat's conditions, "--can’t speak for gold-y here.”

Goldie? Cute. She thought. "We might balance each other out, then." Her glare shifted from Om to Kat, "Never was a huge fan of milk, myself." Lola had no clue what people did with milk aside from occasionally putting it in their coffee, which she preferred black. "Though, I never deny myself an opportunity to learn what it is that makes people love something." Lola would literally constantly deny herself opportunities.

"Dolores Dague, Lola, for you two." She spoke to them both, allowing herself to linger on Kat returning to her room a moment longer, before snapping her gaze toward Om. "I've never been a huge fan of rules, either." She took a sip of her coffee. "I don't mind sharing what's out here, I doubt I'll even use the fridge." Her eye kept focus on his. "Just don't go in my room." Another sip.

And then-- Kat returned, breaking silence. An opportunity to run with the toned Amazon of a woman.

Opportunities are the worst! She really could have been speaking to either Om or Lola-- honestly-- though Lola was the first to respond. "On a scale of 1 to 10, how much of a fan do you think I am of running?"

Viik

Viik had taken the time after formally meeting Alex to set things up within his room. Pre-placed equipment had been set aside, replaced with Viik’s own artisan tools and resources. Pesco the golem lied in the corner, to be called upon for labor when Viik deemed such appropriate. All the stone slabs had been properly stacked up for later use.

“This is good.” Viik said to himself, as he looked around the room. It had been a hot minute of making arrangements, so he decided he’d try talking to Alex some more. His new Reaper friend - he would be lying if he said he weren’t a little interested in hearing his story.

Viik exited his room to find Alex still seated within the living area. “Viik is done making himself at home!” He called out, “And now he wishes to acquaint with his new Reaper friend.”

He sat down on the sofa across from Alex.

“So tell Viik about yourself.”

Kat smirked moving her hip to the side and letting her hand rest upon it, granted the comment was intended for Om but Lola opened up a chance to get closer so she figured she might as well take it.

“I wouldn’t mind seeing you sweat a bit goldie, but I meant Om” she said walking closer bending down to get more on her eye level “But I’m sure I can think of another workout” she finished, it was part serious and part joke but she didn’t care which the girl took it as.

Lola feigned a gasp, emulating a southern belle catching the vapors. “My word miss Kat!” Lola smiled as she spoke, “I’m a woman of high class and standing-- I should hope you’d at least buy a girl dinner and a movie before such scandalous thoughts should dare to transpire!”

Katarina’s lips stretched outward into a smile and soon opened as she erupted into a bellowing laugh that lasted a second or two before she calmed down clearing her throat.

“Oh, I think I’m going to like you- a lot more than I should,” she chuckled, it was rare that anyone had a clever retort on top of that she wasn’t exactly hearing a decline to the coy invitation into the bedroom “A movie would have to wait for afterhours I’m afraid my lady however, the dinner would have to depend on what we’re eating and where” she replied.

Kat soon lifted herself up and stretched a bit popping her back then grunting a bit as her bust stretched out the fabric of the training bra, it was starting to get just downright uncomfortable. Her back popping told her she really needed to stretch out and that last night was more than just a drunken adventure of self-discovery. Bending over touching her toes, stretching her arms and legs around making them pop one after another.

“You should actually think about commin with us, the sweat isn’t so bad once you’re used to it and the shower after can be real invigorating” She explained emphasizing the ‘real’ part wanting it to sound exactly what it was, an invitation.

Lola sighed, making note of the not-so-hidden flirtations being thrown her way, she couldn’t help but smile. “I’d prefer to be a part of the invigoration that comes after, without all the work that comes before.” She tilted her head as the woman stretched before the pair, “Though, I’d never turn down an invitation to watch.” Her visible eye glittered with mischief-- as did her lips, now hidden as they openly smiled behind her raised mug. She took a sip.

Ivy smiled as she looked at the dragon, Varos, he'd said his name was. "I'm sure you don't need them. I've found that they can be quite handy sometimes though." She bobbed her head softly as she nodded towards some of the kitchen appliances not too far away. She chose her words carefully, having encountered dragons before on a number of occasion. He took quite an interest in Leka who was already snoring softly on the sofa, seeming content with the low level of threat which her roommates posed. While outside of the school they might have been a danger to her, here they were friends hopefully and not foes.

"I would not call him a pet. His name is Leka. He is more of a companion. He comes and goes as he pleases and stays with me by his own choice. Best I can tell he is some sort of canine though I haven't ever figured out what sort." She stepped carefully toward Leka, stroking his fur softly along his ribcage. It rose and fell with his deep breaths, taking her hand with it. Her stormy blue eyes inspected the thick coat that covered his body carefully for a moment, taking in the details.

Looking back at the dragon who was inspecting Leka she took note of his only partial human form. Some dragons that she had met could manifest complete humanoid forms but she supposed that they were much older than this dragon. Giving a bit of a mental shrug before she spoke again, "If you wish to learn more about anything in the dorm room or otherwise you may ask me if you would like. Also, I believe our other roommate is here now as well. Leonard, I believe, is his name." She offered as she moved away from the sofa towards the small kitchen to get a drink of the cola she had requested be place in there. It was a guilty pleasure of hers that the coven would have died if they had known about. Her father was probably rolling in his grave as she pulled the shiny, brightly colored can from the refrigerator.

The courtyard of the school was all a-buzz with new and old students conversing with one another some trying to make new friends and others catching up with old ones. A bit noisy, but all around quite peaceful, especially for this type of crowd, suddenly it felt like the air itself was getting thinner almost like one was climbing up a mountain. At the epicenter, something started forming, drawing the air inward and circling around it, a large golden ring with several characters from some bygone era in history long forgotten. Along the edges were large latches connected to what looked like locks attached to the ring that now held within the center a door, colors of amber and gold decorated the mysterious object; anyone who studied special artifacts could probably make out the fact that this was a stargate. Without warning every latch keeping the doors shut flung open and the gate was released for all to see the beyond, stars, planets, creatures completely unknown to this world, however, the only thing to come through was a girl and several suitcases before shutting then vanishing without a trace.

The girl in question landed face first like she had been shoved out with her cases scattered around randomly, it took a moment for her to pick herself up revealing her to be a Kitsune.

“Oh, what a bother” she grumbled all nine of her tails flailing out from behind her “Sloppiest stargate ever even being controlled” she complained a little more dusting off her kimono.

Eyes half open like the girl was about ready to fall asleep on the spot, but instead she sighed out of annoyance more than anything “Great, now I’m soul bound to this school….thanks mom” she spoke under her breath more as people began to crowd around her.
All the attention and noise that came with it was becoming tiresome as such she didn’t want to use energy to speak to people so she just vanished along with all her things in that instant into thin air. Reappearing in her dorm where her two roommates were sitting in the main room chewing the fat, she disappeared again without a trace and a loud thump could be heard in the occupied room, the Kitsune reappeared a second time in the main room and looked around curiously.

“So this is my dorm huh,” she spoke in the same irritated manner “What a bother”

Viik

Before Alex even had a chance to start laying out his story to Viik, the area behind them began to warp a bit, and suddenly standing in the space there was a female figure, with fox-like ears and nine large tails, wearing a kimono. The telltale signs of a kitsune. Alex and Viik only got a few seconds worth of a look at her before she disappeared once again with her luggage. A few audible thuds sounded in the nearby room - which had been previously unoccupied - and suddenly, the kitsune was back.

“So this is my dorm, huh.” She said, in a very obviously displeased tone, “What a bother.”

Alex and Viik were still standing there, slightly dumbstruck. Story-swapping had appeared to have been cut short for now. A moment passed of the two parties merely looking at each other before Viik decided to be the one who breaks the proverbial ice.

“Yyyyyyou are being Alex and Viik’s roommate, then.” He said, “Teleporting fox-woman wishes to introduce herself, perhaps?”

Om

Om's ever present smile only grew as his new living companions began to interact with each other, it seemed that they were going to be quite the friendly bunch. The news that he had free pass to store his more than space consuming meals within the fridge only added to the big lug's over all mood of the day. Om was considering maybe pursuing more house rules, but that idea was quickly forgotten when Kat extended the offer of going on a run with her. He practically jumped on the opportunity to work out with others whenever it presented itself, Om found it one of the best ways to get to know people, but it seemed that his golden haired roommate Lola was quicker on the draw than he was. Unfortunately Lola turned down the offer, causing Om's grin to falter for a moment only for it to quickly reclaim its place on the giant's lips. "You don't have to ask me twice!" He exclaimed before he bolted into his room.

A rather large ruckus could be heard from Om's room as the walking mountain rummaged through his belongings in search for some suitable running clothes. It was a few moments before Om would reemerge from his room dawning his workout attire, and to say the least it was quite the sight. He bore a bright pink sleeveless compression shirt that had a series of small black dots sprinkled about it as well as light green basketball shorts and finally a set of sneakers that was a combination of both of the previous colors. "Ready!!" The massive watermelon themed fellow exclaimed as he walked back out into the main room. The scene of his two roommates getting rather close with each other took Om off guard for a moment before he mentally shrugged, they must of just been really friendly people. "This is going to be a blast! And it is such a great way to see how the campus has change." He thought aloud as he began his own stretching.

Ash

Ash stood from his place in the library now satisfied with the amount that he had read so far in the codex, Most of this I already knew, silver hurts if you can keep it there, off with a head to put them down for good. Ugh, I really don't like to carry that stuff with me but I guess I need the practice. Cas, is it against the rules to carry a weapon? Ash looked to the small yellow bird flying around him as they walked back to the dorm room. I don't think it would matter, it isn't like most every person in this school isn't a dangerous weapon in their own right, and like you said, you really need the practice.

Ash returned to his room and sifted through his pack, he pulled out a few things, a jar of what looked to be a dried brown plant, a second jar of dried purple flowers, and a dagger. Ash pulled off his belt and put the dagger on it placed behind him under his jacket, then set the jars on his desk. "Well, it isn't like no one else has weapons, I mean, some people breathe fire." Ash set the codex down as well before heading out, as he walked toward the main courtyard he took out the knife, it shimmered with a bright light, he set the blade on his hand and when he pulled it away, a bright red mark had started to appear from under it, "Silver, I'm glad I declined the silver embellishments on the sheathe and handle."

As ash wandered to the courtyard he noticed a couple of trees...playing music. Ash waited a moment among the crowd of people before he noticed another student with a cigarette, he remembered that he had been stopped earlier and pulled his back out and lit it, now with a moment of peace finally pouring over him, he felt happy and free of his issues and his goals, just a moment to take in his world that gives him so much joy, "What a lovely song, I haven't heard something like that in a while." he looked about him and noticed the Owl person from the library nearby, he took a couple steps over to her, "What about you, ever heard something like that before? Around here, magic seems to be more alive, in everything we touch." he trailed a moment as he drew on the cigarette. "My apologies, I'm Ash, I saw you a few minutes ago in the library, you were chatting with my roommate Mesuka." he held out a hand in offer of a handshake.

Ethra

Ethra returned Ash’s handshake, always intending to be polite. Sometimes she considered it a boon how were face physically couldn’t display emotions - no one could tell if she had a scowl or smile. Regardless, she was meeting more people on her first day in Silverspell than she was expecting, but so far it’d always been a case of them coming to her. Which she could take, absolutely.

“I recall you, yes.” Ethra said to the lycan, nodding her head just a bit. She turned her attention back towards the two wooden performers and continued on to say, “I’ve… heard little music in my life, so far. So this is actually quite nice.”

A small crowd had gathered around the performers by now. They continued to play, for no compensation whatsoever. Music for the sake of music, it seemed. Nothing to do with the arcane - and Ethra could always appreciate mundanity.

She thought about those three branches, though. The ones with the little memorials on them. She could only surmise that this duo used to be a quintet. And now, by some means, three of the five were gone.

And for some reason, that filled the young bagoyép with a faint, inexplicable sadness.

Alex Rovan

Campus Dorms

A set of black sat staring down at Alex's bare, lanky and fittingly scrawny feet. He attempted to gather the situation, assess it in a way which might perhaps have lessened the blow of a far too unnatural norm. Raising his large, obsidian eyes, Alex tilted his head somewhat as Viik came back into the room. They had a nary a moment to commune, before the door was opened once more. Viik was a lot to take in, but this woman? Did she have tails? With a soft gulp, Alex blinked a few times in what could be narrowed down to confusion. "Uhm, hello..." Alex managed, visibly confused by the new addition. They mixed males, and females, in the same dorm room? He didn't mind, or care, but it too, was new.

Though he was going to share some backstory with Viik, the sudden addition of a new roommate rocked him off balance. The soothing voice of Umbra's continued instructions did however manage to somewhat blanket the myriad of new impressions.

"A kitsune." The crow spoke. "Highly magical creatures. They are native to the Orient." It would be a lie to claim knowledge of such a place, as Alex's life had mainly revolved around a drunken father and a failed education.

"Uh, Alex." The boy introduced himself, gently scratching his pale arm awkwardly. At the very least, he knew that nothing else would come crashing through that door, for a while.

Katarina

Kat’s tongue slowly licked along her top lip and she gently bit down on her bottom only snapping back to the main idea of the conversation when Om spoke up about running; a smile curling along her face being generally excited to workout. Rolling her shoulder, she waited for the big guy to come back, pulling her hair into a large ponytail showing off more of her face so it wouldn’t get into the way of running. Her and Lola continued to flirt back and forth until he returned with his jogging gear on ready to go out the campus was a large when compared to others so it would be a decent work out at least a good pregame. Standing straight up, she walked passed Lola letting her hand glaze along her back side, the Oni then opened the door holding it open for the two.

“Alrighty its settled, lets go work out well me and Om, Goldie you can watch the pregame, but you’ll be ready for the post game I hope, ” she chuckled allowing the big lug and Lola to walk out in front.

Her advances were mainly just teasing the girl, but somewhere in between the words they exchanged they decided to make a legit attempt to get the blond in her bed before the day was out. Closing the door behind her, she and her two roommates started towards the track.
“Say Om I know this place has a real track, but that's for Lil kids lets do a couple of late along the entire campus” she proposed.

Samantha

Samantha looked around at the two who would be known as her roommates, one asked for her name the other extended his hand to shake something told her they were the talkative types hopefully that didn’t also mean the outgoing type just the thought was making her tired. Her nose flared open at the man known as Alex, axe body spray and the other one was some off shoot from a human being. If she didn’t know any better the creature named Viik would be the one to look out for but he seemed harmless enough. All seven of her tails flared out scanning the area looking for something a reaper was never too far away from its instrument of death and she could feel its presence as per usual with astral creatures.

“What's a reaper doing in school, thought all of you had jobs, ” she just came out and asked having given up the prospect of being worried as it expended what little energy she had left. “Call me Sam, my full name is too long” she began to speak, then her stomach growled from that instant she vanished, only to reappear with a tray of chicken nuggets and a soda “Someone is storing food two rooms over”

Ash

Ash watched alongside the owl girl as the duo finished their songs, he had noticed as well the ornamentation that signified the loss of the other tree men. Ash looked to the owl person, she seemed to be staring intently, "You know, I envy them horribly. They found a way to keep alive the memory of their fallen kin, with out losing hope themselves. It's beautiful in its own way I think." Ash took another draw on his cigarette before flicking the remainder into the snow. "This campus is full of exquisite music, food, drink, pleasures for all kinds, and while you stay, you can be something a bit more than what you came as. If you don't mind my asking, what is it you came here to be?"

Ash stood pondering the question himself as he posed it, the duo began the next song in their repertoire and Ash thought to himself. Why did I come back here, if I was going to manage anything I would have already, all I am doing is wasting away the life I have while the memory of people I care about fades to dust around me. He looked back at the owl woman and smiled, "Nevermind me, here I am prying like a first day counselor, I'm sure you have better things to do than indulge my questions. It's a pleasure to have met you.... um, I never actually caught your name?"

Griffin

Luckily for Griffin his rushed little tale seemed to be sufficient for all inquiring parties as they peeled off to do their own thing. A deep sigh escaped his chest as the anxiety wound down to manageable levels, thankful that the prying had stopped. Closing up the old book and pushing them all into one stack, Griffin prepared himself for the journey ahead of him as he realized that he didn't bring his backpack with him and would have to carry all these reading materials with him. Slinging the scroll carrier over his shoulder, Griffin took the stack of large books and let their weight bog his arms down. With a stack of books up to his chest, Griffin began to make a beeline for his dorm as the last thing he wanted was to carry this any longer than he absolutely had to.
