Hi there! I figured I'd start out my membership here with an incredibly weird idea! The setting would be modern day, and they premise is to have a weird group of mismatched characters dealing with everything alien, occult, hell/heaven, and just anything weird. So far so standard, however, this (if it would come to pass) has a neat twist: the stories are short and episodic (and procedual, besides character arcs, and the odd multi-pater, I don't want any ongoing story), and each episode is lead (or GM'ed, do you guys use that term here?) by a different person, willing to tell another weird story. On top of that, I want someone else to start it out! Maybe we can have rotating characters too, thoughts?

I'll try to make a character sheet soon, right now I want to gauge interest.

EDIT: Before I forget: since the people who will participate this will probably need to deal with the mechanics of ghosts and aliens and demons and such, I'll be maintaining a google doc with the mythology and rules sorted as best I can.

So this is like a paranormal task force TV show type thing? If so, that's a pretty wickedly neat idea. I would be interested in working on this regardless, I suppose. You have a character sheet layout for what you're looking for?

Yes, the character sheet is left extremely broad, I think that it allows people to structure their characters differently, if that makes sense.

Name: John Hannah

Age: 27

Physical Description: John is a skinny, scrappy looking guy, with lazily spiked black hair. He likes wearing wears zip up hoodies, and never goes anywhere without several necklaces and eight or nine charm bracelets, each with a religious or occult symbol of protection.

Character Description: John grew up deeply rooted in punk rock culture, and as such is often abrasive and aggressive. He's gotten into a lot of fights, but that's just taught him how to take a beating. For reasons John keeps to himself, he cannot be possessed, nor his mind controlled (technically though, you could control his body). John has extensive knowledge of magic and the occult.
History: John grew up in Seattle, his family on welfare. He was essentially given free reign to go where he wanted, and at age 16 started sneaking into the nearest bar to his house, a small punk bar called "Skin". It was there that he met the person who would drag him into the world of the occult, a charismatic cult leader who tried to induct John, but rather than becoming part of the cult, John ended up sneaking into and spying on the meetings, and studying up on the demon they worshipped. He started drawing various symbols of protection on his arms in sharpie, and reading up on more and more different types of mysticism. Finally, age 19, he managed to sneak into the last meeting, where they where meant to summon the demon. John doesn't talk about what happened there, but after that he started personally investigating cases of paranormal activity, usually finding nothing of note. When the story starts, John is working as a cashier at a 7-11, having found nothing worth looking into for months.

To many, Charlie’s way of life is considered immoral and disgusting. For every positive comment, she receives ten negative ones. The reason for this? She is trans-sexual, and as such, identifies as a woman. For years, he has battled with body image issues and suffered bouts of depression over how she is viewed and how she felt suppressed and limited to portray herself to the outside world, keeping her desires hidden below the surface, waiting for, needing the chance to be who she truly wants to be.
The chance came when she transferred to a new college in order to get a new lease on life where she could settle down happily. Starting to dress, act, and portray herself as a more feminine person around a select group of friends, she found the elusive joy and excitement that had always been absent in her life before now. However, after a while, she started to receive threats and abusive emails from an unknown source, and became much more reluctant to portray her new personality and reverted to acting more masculine again, keeping her “secret” under wraps to avoid further abuse from the other students or staff faculty. All she wants… needs is someone to accept her, no matter if it is a friend or family member.

But the truth is, Sunshine is more than she appears to be. She can feel and see people's energy, whether they are alive or deceased. She discovered her talent when she was a little girl. She would be talking to people that her friends and family couldn't see. She would hear her parents talking about her oddity in hushed tones. She knew at a young age she would have to hide her ability or be judged by everyone around her.
By the age of 16 Sunshine had dropped out of school, finding traditional teaching methods not suitable for her learning style. She home-schooled herself, learning whatever she found interesting. She is well versed in all manner of Pagen ritual, and is often called to go out and do spiritual cleansings of people's homes and businesses. History: Not even she remembers when or where she was born, but her earliest memories are of watching over a small farming village that resented her and thus leaving. After that she has fragments of memories about a man, something about money, and not much after that. From there the next memory she has is being on a ship for an incredibly long time to arrive in what people kept saying was the "New World" even though she knew there was no new world because the world had always been there. After that she has a few scattered memories of never completely fitting in and even a group of people calling themselves "the church" trying to capture her and burn her alive. After that she began hiding her ears and tail and moving from place to place often. Now days she's known in urban myths as "the traveler" wondering the land looking for something, though what no one could really say.

History: Leroy is a time-traveling nomad from a fractured steampunk future. His ultimate goal is to find his lost sister Sasha who’s been kidnapped by a rogue brigade of time-traveling pirates. He doesn’t speak much of his past life and carries a small pistol at his side for protection. When not in pursuit of his lost sister he’s often in the middle of some sort of mischief that he usually will struggle for his life to get out of. Currently, his time-traveling device is damaged yet he’s managing to survive through his thieving.

Character Description: Hates everything and everyone. Very sarcastic to let people know to leave him alone. The thought of bonding disgusts him. Is easily annoyed and tends to flip towards very mundane things.
History: His mother never spoke to him. His father always beat him. One day when he was sixteen, (during one of his weekly beatings) he closed his eyes and imagined himself somewhere else. In that instance, he "jumped" away. That is to say, he teleported. He isn't sure how or why he has this ability, (His parents couldn't explain it to him) Either way, he always makes sure to take full advantage of it. He ran away from home, robbed a few banks, and now lives a life of luxury teleporting between his sweetsaround various countries. He likes activities that keep him away from people. He knows french, spanish, german, portugese, and italian, arabic, and russian. He loves video games (Which may or may not explain his love towards violence), but generally hates interacting with people.

Although, given the nature of this thread, you could probably very easily keep it going yourselves. Or simply start a new one entirely if too many people are no longer interested.
