Don't get me wrong shes not the hottest VG girl I've ever seen, but shes no less ugly than Mass Effect 1 Ashley and if the only Ess Jay Dubyu thing about her is a short haircut then see Jack (ME2).

TBH I'd prefer more people who look like that. The thing about movies and vidya and even RP that sometimes annoys me is the fact that just about everyone looks like a wet-dream.

Girls are too mean to angsty assholes? Eugenics viewed with disfavor? A systemic glorification of gun violence in popular culture and easy access to firearms? Who can say?

About a year ago I had a discussion with an Australian friend of mine on gun violence. Now I think everyone knows that America is famous for the gun violence in its country, but he was acting like coming here was a death sentence. So I did the math, and it was actually quite informative.

The main reason Australia had such a small amount of mass shootings compared to America was the population size, or the population was certainly a factor. There was .9 mass shootings in Australia a year, and America was 13x larger than Australia (I believe, if memory serves). If we made America have the same population as Australia, then America would have 2.2 mass shootings a year, which granted, is still worse. But not nearly as horrifying as people think, and many European countries have that kind of statistic.

Edit: I think the main reason the deaths are so massive is because this is the 3rd largest country in the world, in regards to population. Though that doesn't excuse gun violence, it's just a factor.

I believe censoring humor for threat of violence would be similar to say, censoring speech to not trigger people, if we're talking left wing satire vs right wing opinions on the matter.

I don't think free-speech should ever be censored but neither do I think people should be protected from the social consequences of that speech. That should apply equally to the Milos and the Kathys of the world.

I worked in Australia for a couple of years and most Australians seem to believe that the gun confiscations did reduce gun violence. Overall rates of gun violence have dropped but it is a little more difficult to tie this trend directly to the stricter gun laws as it might be part of a trend that was already in effect. If only we had a control Australia!

The overall levels of violence are not analogous however
in 2001 the rate of homicide in Australia was about 13 deaths per million
in 2014 the rate of homicide in the USA was about 47 deaths per million

I believe one can more readily attribute that to the focus of media and outlets. In the United States the "controversy" about ownership and firearms, as well as their relation to crime, is a well loved topic of public interest, as is any scandal or terrorist attack. Firearms just earn more attention because it stirs up people's emotions and also, uniquely, has a very important role in American history. Consider me none too shocked to hear that Australia was not focused on homicides in their news.
