@Majoras End (I actually didn't notice that... only the book. But I think at this point Endar's wanting to take it all in stride.)

OOC: Oh cool, is that a nod to mist? I really shouldn't participate but... I've got the avatar for witch hunting.

“Where's the witch!?” Kyoko descended from the sky, holding a box of pocky in one hand and an apple in the other. When she landed, she gave her surroundings a brief scan before letting her eyes rest on a familiar character. Her eyes shot open in surprise. “Homura!? I can't believe I'm seeing a familiar face.” Kyoko's eyes moved between everyone present. “Well.” She quickly ate the apple down to its core and approached the book. “Aren't you curious looking?” The girl gave the book a toothy grin before prodding the image with the apple core.

@BrokenPromise The apple core disintegrated into motes of dusken starlight, wicked from the skein of the world like water through cloth.

Within the spinning image of the levitating book, what was presumably the same apple core bled into being within range of the rotating point of reference and dropped to the ground of the rooftop, just out of sight of the frame.

The book itself remained firmly in place, hanging suspended in the air before Kyoko.

"Hello to you too Kyoko." Homura replied to her comrade, tilting her head lightly. She lowered the bayonet she quickly equiped herself with when the witch forced the group into its labyrinth temporarily and retreated.

She walked up to the floating book and looked at the moving picture on the page it was turned. "Wait, isnt that Mitakihara?" she asked Kyoko, pointing at the photo.

Homura thought to herself as to why the witch had summoned the mysterious novel, making sure to keeping track of what the others are saying.

@Majoras End "Looks like it." Kyoko was still grinning as she watched the remains of her lunch fall on the other side of the image. "I think this is all part of the labyrinth though. I doubt there would be a portal leading back home inside a witch's labyrinth. Though it is curious, isn't it?"

@Blueflame Kyoko turned to Sans. "A witch is a witch. Some say they are former magical girls, others the embodiment of humanity's darkness. But what we do know is that over time they cause disasters and grow more powerful. In order to stop a witch, you have to enter its labyrinth and slay it. But that's easier said than done." She chuckled. "It's really... something that is easier to understand once you've experienced it.

@Terminal The magical girl looked back at the book. "Welp, I guess we don't have much of a choice now do we?" In a flash of brilliant light, Kyoko was in her magical girl uniform, brandishing a spear instead of food stuffs. "I'm going in. There's a possibility I won't be able to return or hear you guys so..." Kyoko touched the picture again. this time with her bare hand.

EDIT: OOC: I typically don't post this fast. Don't feel compelled to answer right away.

@BrokenPromise The world surrounding Kyoko vanished as her palm made contact with the linking panel, leaving her in a void of tenebrous pitch. She felt overcome by the most curious sensation.

A moment later, appearing as though between the blinking of her eyes, the rooftop of Mitakihara Middle School appeared around her. At her feet lay the apple core she had forced through the link before her. Looking around, all appeared as it should have. She could hear the bustle of the surrounding town and the chirping of birds in the distance. The sun was out and shining - it seemed to be around midday - and despite the semi-surreal nature of the school's perhaps unexpectedly ornate architectural facade, all was well.

As she predicted though, there appeared to be no means of returning the way she came, nor of communicating with those she had left behind. The linking book was apparently a one-way means of travel.

OOC: I keep forgetting to come back here. Ah well. Sorry I'm late. Two returns for the price of one.

Jane stumbled slowly from the clothing store, gasping for breath like a wounded beast. He greedily gulped down air, holding his head in one hand and absently staring at the other. He fell to one knee and, with visible effort, pushed himself back up again. He opened his mouth to speak, but all that came out was a low, strained moan.

"...What... just happened?" he eventually managed to get out. He didn't look at anyone in particular while he spoke, and seemed more to be talking at people than to them. "I... think I blacked out. What... happened? How long did I... What did... The last thing I remember, the pink-haired lady had gone missing? Been kidnapped? I... What's going on? What's the situation? I'm..."

Jane gasped again, and then sank slowly to his knees. His hand brushed against the hilt of his still-sheathed katana. He looked down at it and his breath caught in his throat. "...Oh God. Oh God. Okay. Wh... Who did I kill? I don't remember who I killed..."

"You 'killed' the darkness as best you could manage. As for our quarry, it found itself fit to flee, but now..." The great cat's eyes washed over the strange text and whatever it had just done to both girl and apple, then back to the man upon his knees, "There's something new, a gate of sorts."

The other company appeared to be a yet another young woman, a prince of some kind who introduced himself as "Endar", and one of the faces of death that manifest as a tiny reaper shouldering a blade as an old man would a cane. The ferine soul paused for a moment, looking toward Jane then back again, certain that the man was more coherent the longer time went on and the more he caught his breath. Things were changing yet again, as swiftly as ever; overwhelming him when he recovered from a seeming brink of exhaustion would do no one any good, least of all not the uneasy truce.

Its tremendous jaws, flanked by deadly curved blades of ivory teeth as long as a forearm, drew more momentarily tight before it spoke again.

"These two, the younger, seem to know one another to some extent, or at least the other girl who disappeared into the book."

Kyoko breathed a sigh of relief. There was a possibility only she would be transitioned into the book without her weapon or clothing, and everyone looking into the book would have seen that. She hadn't really considered that possibility until after touching the book. But trial and error was really the only way to get to the bottom of anything magical. She could have talked out the possibilities with everyone, but that seemed more like a "Homura" thing to do. Kyoko usually didn't have the patience for discussions like that. Everything seemed eerily normal. With all the strange sites Kyoko had seen recently, she was rather exited to see something as familiar as a witch's labyrinth, even if they were dangerous. Homura was also a welcome site, and Kyoko just now regretted not talking with her a bit more before jumping into the book.

So there was no way back it seemed. Kyoko was sure everyone could see her, but what to do? It was unlikely they could hear her. The wind was certainly louder now than it was when looking at the book. Kyoko wanted to show that she was safe, but didn't want to give the impression that there was a way back. This could still be a trap after all. Kyoko decided the best way to illustrate this would be to set down her spear and shape her hands like binoculars. She looked out towards where everyone else was likely observing her, sweeping the "binoculars" left to right. Kyoko probably looked a bit silly, but she was fourteen. Such behavior was to be expected.

@Blueflame For but a moment, darkness took Sans. The void about him was emptier than any world he might have known.

Then all was well again, and he found himself standing in front of Kyoko on top of the roof of some clearly overdesigned municipal above-ground structure. Kyoko was peering directly at him with her binocular hands.

"When a witch is defeated, they drop a grief seed, their transformed soul gem." Homura added to Kyoko's explanation, showing the purple gem embeded in her hand. "And when someone makes a contract to become a magical girl, their soul is removed from their body and transformed into a soul gem, the source of their powers."

She turned to the lion, who had mentioned that her and Kyoko know eachother. "Wise observation. We've been allies for awhile now." she replied to the cat. Homura looked back at the page as sans was going through the photo, seeing that Kyoko was safe.

After the skeleton dissapeared into the photo, Homura climbed onto the book before looking back at the lion again. "If no one else is gonna join in, watch over the place while we're gone, okay?" she jumped into the book, meeting up with the other two inside.

Watching as the third member of their party vanished into the book, Endar found himself looking at its pages. It was a curious thing, true, but he had seen its likeness before, mayhaps. An item which worked in strange and mysterious ways, but its power was clear. Otherwise known as an Artefact.

He paused, before turning to the great lion.

"You... you are the Harbinger of Ferocity, yes? One of the world-walkers? Our legends speak of you."

Not waiting for an answer, he turned back to the book, and held his hand above it. A slight glow began to pulse from his palm.

"I might not know if this world's laws work differently to mine, but my magic appears to remain. If I can tap into this Artefact's power, then all of us might follow those of us who went before, with the book in tow. But to do this, I will have to share my magic with yours, Harbinger."

@The Harbinger Of Ferocity@Terminal

(OOC: I've very little idea as to what anime/manga you've all been referencing, but since we 'are our avatars', I'm operating by Endar's laws. Would this work or no?)

EDIT: Tagged the wrong person, I think? Sorry, person who's name is actually Harbinger?
