Plotting with Oswald

Gren was looking over some sketches of his new weapon when Oswald came over to discuss stuff. No doubt Oswald wanted to capitalize on Gren's gift yesterday, and while the faunas had his own plans he was always ready and willing to lend a hand to his fellow students. Putting his notebook away Gren looked over to his bulky buddy. "Good. I was worried I'd have to do all the thinking. If you got ideas, put them into paper and I'll see what I can do."

Handing Oswald some blank papers and a pencil, Gren wanted to know what the swordsman had in mind. While Gren doesn't expect Oswald to paint him a perfect picture or a gen page essay with what he wanted, the paper was to help gather Oswald's thoughts into a rough visualization or what he wanted. Or just doodle, Gren didn't care what Oswald did with the paper. "Your weapon is a sword and shield, yeah? Pretty old school, but if it ain't broke don't fix it, right? Still everything could get better. So what are you looking to work on?"

Tuesday, 4th Period (Armory)

@Eklispe

Roused suddenly from his stupor, Geni welcomed the newcomer with a deadpanned stare. While his glare may have been perceived as rude or even threatening; in all actuality, Geni was only studying the girl. She was human, and oddly enough she and her people were the brunt of his rage at the moment. A fact that he hoped his perceived body-language didn't communicate.

Geni glanced at the clock. He had a few minutes of free-time before he had to snap into his good-boy mold. A few minutes he would gladly use if it meant he could improve his now downtrodden mood.

"Always time for a nap. Geni jibbed in return.

Mindaro Mondays - END

"If there's any shit that you can't deal with, I'll come back an-"

Her father's hearty laugh cut Gratia's spiel off, and a warm hand tapped her on the head, ruffling her dark brown hair in a kindly and comforting manner. She tried not to let it distract her from her objective - ensuring with utmost certainty that her family would not be troubled in any way while she was in Vale - but it was proving to be an incredible struggle to do so when they were smiling so warmly at her.

"Ça ira, Grat," said Valentinian Mindaro, his firm, fatherly features glowing with a smile as he placed his hands down on her shoulders comfortingly. "Just worry about school. Make new pals. Become la chasseresse meilleure that I know you're gonna be."

"But -"

"Your papa's got this." He nodded, brows furrowing in seriousness. "You're already helping out enough by sending cash back, and even if some enculé shitbag tries to fuck with us, he'll be getting sodomised by une tronçonneuse!"

There was a disapproving cough from slightly behind him. "Val, darling," said Severa Mindaro with a shake of her head, holding a palm out, "please refrain from competing with Gratia in seeing which of you can fill the swear jar first."

"Well if it gets us gros sous ..." trailed off the Mindaro patriarch as he handed some of his lien to his wife, steely eyes flickering towards Gratia for a moment as an easy grin returned to his chiseled face.

The aforementioned girl refused to flush. She crossed her arms against her chest, defiantly staring back at her parents, who she could immediately tell were fucking trying not to giggle as they recalled the memories.

"That was years ago," the ponytailed Huntress declared, onyx eyes refusing to budge from theirs as she tried to push the conversation in another direction. "It shouldn't even be goddamn relevant now."

"But you were simply too adorable, Gratia!" her mother couldn't help but exclaim, the middle-aged woman trying to hide a giggle behind her hand. "I think your friends would be quite in- "

"The airship's here," announced Galla in her emotionless monotone, interrupting Severa and saving her sister from having embarrassing childhood stories being revealed in public. "You're running out of time to say goodbye to big sister."

The ornithopter, the mechanical marvel that would be the Mindaro family's path home to Mistral, was already descending, gusts of air forming as it made its landing and prepared to receive the crowds that would make its way into its innards. Galla turned to watch it for a moment, before returning to face her big sister alongside her parents, expression still unchanged.

"Well," continued Severa, flustered by the sudden realisation that their time was growing shorter and shorter. "I thought it would be - oh well ... Gratia?"

Her tone had sobered, but there was still a nurturing warmth in her words.

"Yes, mama?"

Severa placed her forehead against her daughter's, face quirked up in a quiet smile.

"Remember to stay safe, okay?" she whispered, before pulling back and giving Gratia a kiss on the forehead. "We love you."

It was a reluctant parting, but unfortunately, it was one that had to come to pass. Gratia Mindaro nodded as her mother leaned in to embrace her one last time. Soon, they would once again be an ocean away. On a completely different continent to the one she was currently residing on.

"I'll see you later, then."

And soon, they were gone. Taken by the airship and heading back to Mistral.

Gratia turned back towards the towering buildings of Beacon.

It was time to get back to work.

Gratia Mindaro - Armoury

The amount of work Gratia had put into her Frankensteinesque contraption had been immense, but the scope of what she was attempting to do with the ugly mess of polymers and wires meant that despite the time she had spent on constructing the helmet, it was still yet to be complete. The previous Armoury session had allowed her to obtain the necessary parts for the device, but putting them all together would be a challenge. Transforming the chaotic mess of materials into a working prototype was difficult, but she wouldn't fail.

She would definitely succeed.

The Mistralese girl, clad in the black uniform of Haven Academy, had taken a seat next to where Geni and Krysanthe were seated, but she barely acknowledged their presence, even if the former was now her new team member. Her onyx eyes were instead staring down at the tools and parts she had gathered, now assembled on the desk before her, and her pale hands were reached behind her head in order to tie her flowing, dark brown hair back into a ponytail. A white hairtie hung loosely from her mouth, held there temporarily until she was in need of it.

As she dropped the hairtie into a hand, moving it to the back of her head, she continued to observe what she had already gathered: a laser rangefinder, binoculars, LEDs, a thermographic camera, image intensifier, a large number of wires, a circuit board, several rolls of copper and solder, et cetera. Some of them had already been put together in a manner that was tested to work, but there was still more engineering to do.

Her ponytail finally came into place, yet despite its new form, her long hair nearly slapped Geni in the face as she moved her head to her satchel, grabbing out a soldering iron and a pair of safety glasses.

The glasses went on, and Gratia tapped the tip of the iron against some paper. The scent of something burning rose into the air.

It was time to get back to work.

Oswald Connoly- Armory

"Funny you should mention my current setup. I've decided that, as they are, they aren't good enough. I need to be prepared to fight something I'm not prepared to fight-as illogical as that sounds." Looking his compatriot dead in the eye, Oswald smirked.

"I need something like that can kill a god. I figured you'd be the best bet to help. I've actually already started drawing up some schematics and basic ideas." Pulling out his Scroll and passing it to Gren, Oswald gave the Faunus a small nod. The three files that were displayed on screen each had a label that he was sure would stick out.

Brookeborough's Vengeance

Grand Aegis

Igneus Iudex

"First one's an upgrade and extension of my sword. Turns it into a massive piercing weapon attached to my arm. Second is an upgrade to the shield, and is definitely the most ambitious project. It's going to require us to replicate the shield generating technology of Amity Colosseum. And the last one is a 20mm handcannon designed to take Dust rounds. I've currently come up with a low-range explosive Dust round, and an armor-piercing round as a backup, in case I need to punch through something at a distance, and getting close isn't an option."

Tapping his hand on the table gently, Oswald sighed. "I was thinking we could try to enlist Anna as well. Her personality may make me want to bash my head into a wall, but from what I saw of her gear, the girl's a damned genius..."

Annabelle Valentine
Armory

"Emmmmiiiiieee." Annabelle said in a chipper yet subdued tone as she noticed her sister/teammate and came up behind her. She draped herself over Emerald's shoulders, hands just enough off her chest to not be molesting her. "Hey Emmie. Sorry about this morning. I just felt sooooo sick. Better now. You look super cute in that uniform, by the way. How you holding up today?" She extracted herself from Emerald's shoulders to come around and look her in the eyes. They hadn't been able to really talk much yet today, not since this morning. If Anna's hung over mumblings could even be qualified as conversation.

She smiled and reached out to gently squeeze Emerald's shoulder. Anna figured she would need a good long talk to get it all out when she felt ready. But for now more distractions with fun would have to suffice. "Let's go find some more friendly faces, huh? Ah! Right over there. Peeerfeect~!" Anna said pointing out Gren and Oswald who seemed to be putting their heads together already. That's right, I offered to help out, too. This will be a great way to start off cla-

!!

A piercing sound cut through the part of her head that still wasn't fully over last night's mistakes. What the, who's whistling like a- hey, that's actually really good. If my head didn't still hurt... Seriously, who puts that much effort into whistling!? Looking around it wasn't hard to find the source, a hunk of a Faunus not too far from her. What the hell, did Beacon just recruit all the sexiest, cutest guys in Remnant? But that whistling... "Pleeease, guy. Those C sharps are killing meeee..." Thankfully, before she even had to speak up, the whistling maestro stopped on his own. Oh, thank you. My prayers are answered. I should probably get some earplugs before the real noise starts. I bet some of these projects are bound to get loud.

Annabelle walked with Emerald towards where their two friends were working. "Hey, Oz Man, Grenster. Whatcha working on? Oh, how's the blonde with the uniform?"

Her smile was only slightly mischievous.

Ashe Blackwood

A Newcomer to Beacon

It had all happened so quickly that Ashe had barely had any time to process it. She had been selected for and moved to Beacon Academy, which was not only completely unexpected, but also utterly bizarre as far as she was concerned. There hadn't been enough time to pack her belongings before she was thrown head first out of a cell and into a Bullhead. Perhaps her father was behind it. That old man was always looking after her in his own way, even though they weren't always on the best of terms. Perhaps he'd had enough of her regular stays in the Mistral city prison and thought that a more disciplined lifestyle would be good for her. Or perhaps it was her aunt's idea. She wasn't entirely sure which family member's idea it was to send an application in her name and several letters of recommendation (mostly from cops she'd grown entirely too familiar with) to Beacon, but it didn't really matter.

A quick glance at the directions listed on her horribly outdated Scroll told her she was where she needed to be. Beacon seemed almost excessively fancy for her tastes, and was a harsh transition from her time living with the Barbarians (a rather rowdy group of kids constantly trying to one-up one anothers' shenanigans). At least she was new here -- nobody had come to know her face or her habits yet, which meant she could spend plenty of time trying to get her bearings undisturbed. Hopefully, at least.

Ping!

A message from her best friend from Mistral, Thomas, popped up. That kid had always been almost stupidly good at choosing exactly the right moment to do... Well, anything, really. It was almost spooky, but then, most of the Barbarians had been in one way or another.

No response. They forgot. All seven of the Barbarians forgot. With a sigh, she set off towards her first classes without her sketchbook or her notes on personal studies. She'd been kindly given a class schedule and a basic syllabus for both late arrivals and for each of the courses, and apparently her family had signed her up for a number of electives as well. A course catalog was packed into the small stack of papers detailing the electives, which... Hm. She'd actually been signed up for courses that looked good. Some academics mixed with practical skills.

Throughout her core courses, she maintained a low profile. The secret to going unnoticed is to show up on time, participate in class a little but not too much, stay fairly cheerful, and look incredibly busy between classes to keep other people from bothering her. There were a couple close calls, but she'd brushed those students off with a quick "Sorry, can't talk, gotta be somewhere!".

Tuesday, 4th Period - Grimm Studies

Ashe arrived six minutes late to class, courtesy of being a late arrival and missing out on any tours. It was a bit of a rushed day for her. Most students had apparently already arrived, and standing out in any way at all -- especially on her first day -- brought the blazing heat of embarrassment to her face. She had no idea if there had been previous classes this semester or not. Own it., she thought to herself. Just take a seat. Nobody cares.

She hadn't brought a uniform with her, so all day she'd been forcing her image to fit in via her Semblance - including keeping her status as a Faunus hidden where possible until she knew exactly how Beacon culture treated her kind. Failing to blend in was stressful, and she nearly broke her facade as she hastily slid into a seat near the exit, momentarily getting her backpack caught on the corner of the lecture hall desk. Hopefully the instructor would either not notice, or not care.

The classroom itself seemed not much different from those of her core courses, though this one had exactly one unusual feature - crates packed with Grimm. She'd been around them enough to know that caged Grimm would very quickly die off of their own accord, and that Grimm of those sizes were definitely not able to get through bars that thick. Sometimes the Barbarians captured smaller Grimm and use them as playthings, though Ashe generally kept her distance. As terrifying as the Grimm looked normally, routine exposure had numbed that sense of fear over time, or so she thought. Any time one of the beasts lunged at their cage door or snarled too loudly, she felt the tiniest hint of the urge to run.

And so she sat and shakily waited.

"Eep!" Emerald nearly jumped out of her skin when Anna surpise hugged her. She'd been so preoccupied with her thoughts that she hadn't seen her soul sister coming.

"Oh hey Anna, I'm doing alright I guess, it's just a lot to take in and process ya know? I think I'm still in shock about it." Emerald was more in shock about what her dad had told her than anything else. She'd had an older sister all this time and she never knew! She basically gained two sisters yesterday, that was crazy!

She followed Anna to where Gren and Oswald were conspiring on something...most likely developing weapons of some sort. "Whatcha guys plotting?"

"Beryl Harken. Hey."

Jericho wasn't even surprised by the otter's random appearances in his life anymore, nor was he going to waste any energy protesting her anime nickname for him. He was more focused on the random affliction that seemed to strike her as it had struck so many other girls (and honestly, people in general) here at Beacon: random, sometimes bizarre mood swings, that seemed to pass like freak storms. She had a faraway look in her eye that faded for all of two seconds.

And he had thought better of her than to push her boobs up just because she was sitting next to him. Wasn't like they weren't perky to begin with anyway, Beryl, don't be a paranoid wreck.

You didn't HAVE to sit here.

"I don't really care much about weaponry, honestly. Not enough to get attached to most of it. Put any gun in my hands and I'm comfortable up to 1900 meters." He shrugged off his jacket and unclasped the chest holster he was wearing, pulling it away from his t-shirt and dropping it on the worktable that he and the Mistralian Faunus girl shared. His hair clip came next, long brown hair falling down his neck as the clip slimmed down and extended into yet another knife, this time a faux-stiletto that he dropped gently onto the table. He looked to Beryl, mouth creasing casually into a thinner line; he gave a faint shrug and shook his hair free, chest rising and falling calmly as he looked wistfully to the back of the class.

"I just enrolled because this seemed like the closest thing to an auto shop," he explained, "and I used to piss away a period on my streetfighter. I didn't want to have to get her repaired with black market parts for a semester. Hey. Your Semblance is water-specific, right, Beryl? Those cavemen at the docks here all have their thumbs up their asses, and God knows what they screwed around with while unloading her. Would you help me check it today if you have a free minute, make sure no single-celled jackass dumped a bottle of Fiji into my carburetor or anything like that?"

Vega Venetia - Team VGNB – Armory Class

Vega did have any ideas for any contraption on weapon. Sitting near Gratia while she worked on her Contraption, Vega was reading an article concerning SMG’s and AR’s on reducing muzzle climb and increasing auto-controllability. She kept her distance so Gratia would have room.

Flipping a page, “Interesting” she muttered to herself.

So that's where he was keeping it.

Beryl hadn't been able to figure out where Jericho had pulled that smaller knife from the last time she had seen it. The young Altesian knight had an insane draw speed when he felt threatened.

"Sure." She said in a tone that, while it was still cheerful, was less overwhelmingly so than her initial greeting had been. "It'll give me a chance to pick up some pointers on automotive mechanics from someone who actually knowns what they are doing."

Picture, if you will, the scene of a school cafeteria. One emptier than it would be at any other time of the day, but a school cafeteria nonetheless. A school cafeteria filled with stores hawking tasty sustenance, mascot statues appealing to merchandising, and a small number of loitering students taking advantage of their temporary freedom from classes to grab themselves a quick meal to replenish their energy stores for the inevitable task of learning. Of course, there is a major difference between this scene and the school cafeteria you are likely picturing (beyond the fact that trainee Hunters would not be found so easily in some school cafeteria): there is an unfortunate lack of Shuai Taidan in your imagination.

That isn't to say, however, that there is a visibly "Taidanesque" presence in this cafeteria either.

Certainly, this larger-than-life Shuai Taidan should be one of loitering students in the cafeteria, but for all intents and purposes, the room seems bereft of anything larger-than-life, and one would suggest that Shuai Taidan isn't larger-than-life at all, if he could be present without anybody noticing.

Yet there is a simple explanation.

The reason for why there is no sign of Shuai Taidan, why nobody has noticed his presence despite his supposed larger-than-life nature, why there is no radiant aura of cheeriness filling up some corner of the room, is merely the fact that ...

... Shuai Taidan doesn't look like Shuai Taidan.

An unexpected answer, but one with an even more obvious answer:

Shuai Taidan is in costume.

Take a look at the small number of loitering students in this cafeteria. At first, you may have thought that the set with the qualities of "who could be Shuai Taidan" essentially boiled down to one discrete variable: "the boy who looked like Shuai Taidan and thus was Shuai Taidan". This, of course, would have been fallacious reasoning even had Shuai Taidan looked like Shuai Taidan given the presence of those with shapeshifting or illusionary powers present within the halls of Beacon Academy. Yet that is not as relevant to the discussion as the fact that yes, Shuai Taidan does not look like Shuai Taidan.

And thus, the set of "who could be Shuai Taidan" expanded in scope from an individual to every single one of those loitering students. After all, if none of them looked like Shuai Taidan, and Shuai Taidan didn't look like himself, then everyone was a candidate for being Shuai Taidan.

(Except for your boyfriend, Plank. Because quite unfortunately for your case, Shuai Taidan is really just a flat, 2D creation made up of words and copyrighted images, and not actually part of the set consisting of "actual real humans who you could feasibly date".)

So of those loitering students, who is in fact Shuai Taidan?

It's not the silver-haired hipster with sunglasses, because he is far too tall to be Shuai Taidan, even if platform shoes were involved.

It's not the cleaner wiping gunk off the tables before more students arrive, because Shuai Taidan's shift isn't until later in the week.

It's not even the black-haired beauty inexplicably in a ballgown, because Shuai Taidan isn't crossdressing today.

What's the answer then, you may ask?

He's one of the supposed mascot statues.

If it comes as quite a surprise, then you likely share the sentiments of many of the students present in the cafeteria. They too assumed that the grumpy-faced bear wearing kevlar was merely a statue owned by the sweets store, but the sudden motion of said bear's feet proved them to be incorrect. It was no statue, but in fact a costume.

A costume containing Shuai Taidan.

A Shuai Taidan who had decided to stop loitering in a costume and start waddling out of the cafeteria.

Witnesses could only stare after him in shock.

And once he, clad still in costume, disappeared from the cafeteria's confines, a conclusion could be settled upon:

In this cafeteria, the set of "who could be Shuai Taidan" no longer contained any individuals.

With a tremendous effort Skye forced herself to break eye contact with the Grimm in its cage. This went against every learned behavior and instinct she had developed over the last three or five years, and it took just as much effort to not look right back at the creature. There were students all around her just talking, not even looking in the direction of the cages. It was starting to seem like part of being a true Hunter included the ability to ignore Grimm as long as they were contained. Their ability to manage their negative emotions around the creatures must be on an entirely different level from my own. Even in this I have so much more to learn. I hope it doesn't take me too long to catch up.

Scanning the seats around her Skye noticed a few people were still glancing in her direction and snickering. But fortunately most of her fellow students were ignoring her, and the professor himself hadn't said anything about her earlier blunder. That helped put her a little at ease, however slightly.

She noticed one of her other teammates, the winged Faunus named Bianca, and she wondered if she should go sit with her, try to get to know her. She felt like she should and she wanted to but... there was something about Bianca's expression. Skye wasn't exactly a master of reading people but maybe it would be better to leave her be for now? Or at least try to wait between classes to try to approach her. Something about Bianca kept making Skye want to talk to her, and it wasn't just the desire to get to know her. Skye felt almost anxious to sit down and really talk with the other Faunus, not just chat. At the same time it didn't feel like the right time or place and that was bothering her almost as much as the sounds the Grimm were making.

Farther away from where she was sitting she spotted a redheaded boy in glasses openly glaring at the classroom's cages. The sight of this boy apparently not even trying to manage his negativity made her physically twitch. So, maybe I'm not the only one not fully in control of their emotions after all.

As if to confirm this thought she saw another girl, much closer to her, visibly fidgeting in her seat. She looked about as nervous as Skye felt. Stop staring, Skye. If she sees me that will probably only make her feel worse. There's likely nothing I can do to help, anyway. I've got to be the least qualified student to give advice in the whole class, if not the whole school. Best thing to do is leave her alone.

And so Skye was very surprised when she moved from her current seat to take one of the vacant places next to this girl. What am I even doing? Skye couldn't think of a reason why but she felt almost compelled to go against her own advice and talk to this girl. She had an idea of where that compulsion was coming from but that did not make her feel any better about approaching this stranger. Whether her suspicions about her motivations were correct or she was just suffering a moment of temporary insanity the results were the same. Skye leaned towards this person and started speaking, her voice rougher and raspier today for all the talking she had done the day before.

"Good afternoon. My name is Skye. Good. She had remembered to introduce herself this time. "I-if I may offer my advice? It helps to think about something pleasant, something that makes you happy. Hold onto it and focus on it over the fear. I'm still afraid of the Grimm myself, and I haven't learned the advanced techniques the other students know just yet. But someone taught me that trick a long time ago. I d-don't know if that helps or if I'm just... I hope it helps a little.

OK, so now I've gone and stuck my nose into someone else's business without them asking for it. Wonderful. But... if I helped, even a little, I guess I could forgive myself.

Grimm Studies

Ashe was in the middle of calming herself down when a voice pulled her back to reality. She hadn't noticed the new girl take a seat next to her at all, and that was... Well. Not good. That simply didn't happen. Obviously day-one stress was getting to her. And now she was caught in a conversation she hadn't planned to have. Roll with it. What's the worst that could happen?, she told herself. Who knows, might get a n-

A quick glance towards the new girl cut that thought short. Faunus? Check. Mask? Check. White Fang? Here? Fuckin' seriously? She turned her head towards Skye and gave her a momentarily look-over. Thankfully, the mask didn't match anything she'd seen the WF using in the news, so it was probably just... Well, she didn't know, and she didn't feel like asking any awkward questions like 'are you a terrorist?' -- especially not with it being the first person who'd actually spoken to her at Beacon. And the advice was good either way.

"Thanks for the advice. Kinda been a rough day so far, so... Yeah. Not really worried about those things," she replied. It was a lie, of course - as often as she'd seen them in the Barbarians' nest, she really felt uncomfortable around them without her comrades around. "I've had some combat experience, but I've never really fought them before. It's... Eh, nevermind, not important. I'm Ashe, nice to meet ya'."

She forced a smile and extended her hand in greeting. Whichever way this would turn out, she was happy enough to have a distraction.

Skye reached out to take Ashe's offered hand in a firm grip. "It's nice to meet you, too. I'm sorry you're having a rough day. If there is anything I can do to help...? Though, that might not be much of an offer. Today is my first day as a student here and I'm... very far behind." ...I wonder if that was such a gross understatement as to count as a lie? I am missing four years of the formal training everyone else has, and the standard education that goes with it. Yeah. I think I just lied. It really is a miracle they let me enroll, isn't it?

"E-embarrassingly far behind, to be honest. You are probably far better trained than I am. I didn't mean to imply otherwise with my out of nowhere advice. I just meant to help.

Krysanthe observed from the corner of her eye that tailed faunas at first merely stared at her in a somewhat flat manner, leaving her unsure as to whether or would say anything at all. Finally he broke his gaze to glance at the clock and spoke up. Meanwhile another girl had gone to work right beside him, not bothering to wait for class to start or to make sure her work space was clear apparently, as she nearly smacked the pale-haired faunas in the face with her nearly created pony-tail before working on the clustered electronics in front of her. "I dare say it may always be time for a nap, however there is not always time for a nap is there?" Krysanthe replied with a light laugh. " I'm Krysanthe by the way." Krysanthe was tempted to say something to the other girl but decided against it, after all she wasn't bothering Krysanthe and if it bothered her seat-mate he would say something.

Chatting up the Crew

”Godkiller eh? Lofty goal. Fortunately for you, I strive for deicide.”

Gren poured over Oswald's notes and made mental calculations on them. The sword was doable, Gren was surprise Oswald didn't want to turn his blade into a drill but whatever floats his boat. The shield generator was going to be much tougher. While personal shield barriers were fairly easy (everyone’s Aura can make barriers), something like the colosseum force field but minimized into a personal shield? Not so easy. The colosseum had the benefit of a giant shield generator befitting the size of the colosseum. If Oswald wanted something like that but portable, it was definitely going to be tough. The hand cannon at least will be child’s play; Gren could whip that up in class.

”Now when you say handcannon, do you mean a big pistol or something strapped to your arm? I can do both, just keep in mind that the arm cannon thing is going to have some nasty recoil. But if you're willing to take that risk I can do it. The shield will be the toughest. I can find you a portable shield generator that could be fitted into your shield, but it's not going to have nearly the same strength as the barrier over Amity Colosseum. Like not even ten percent.”

As Gren mulled over what to do for Oswald, the girls came over, Anna and Emerald. Oswald wanted to enlist Anna though she seemed to annoy him. Gren couldn't see why but then again Gren just had thick skin like that. ”Hiya. Me and Oswald are just chilling, you know, plotting to kill god and all that good stuff. Business as usual.” Anna asked them about the “blonde in the uniform”, and at a glance the first person to match that description was Krysanthe. ”You mean Krysanthe? Legs for days.”

Turning back to Oswald, Gren showed him his Scroll which had a list of materials and supplies Gren would use if he had to put all these things together. ”As I said, the hand cannon will be easy enough to make in class. Your pile driver might take a bit of work but it's doable do. I just need to see your sword first. The hardest thing about your shield generator is trying to get the same output but on a massively smaller scale, which is tech that either doesn't exist or I haven't found yet. Likely the latter. But I'll keep my eye on it, worse comes to worse we pay a visit to the colosseum and bring back a souvenir.”

"Huh?" Krysanthe? Legs? Could it be that Gren didn't even notice? Boys. They really are oblivious to our shoes and hair, just like the legends say. She looked to Emerald in amusement and bewilderment, lifting a few of her blonde strands in disbelief. He must have misheard me, probably really into those designs, too. Can't blame him for that, Mr. Ozzie has some hot ideas for a time tested combo. Can't expect everyone to multitask oogling sexy upgrades and the opposite sex like your truly. Doesn't mean I can't poke fun at him for it.

"Right, easy mistake. I only had straight black hair in a braid yesterday. I guess going from that to a wavy rich blonde is a pretty subtle change." She refrained from sticking her tongue out at him and just let the mischief in her eyes do the talking.

She leaned forward and took a closer look at the plans the two of them were poring over. "Ooooh, a shield generator? I've been meaning to look into those but.... well what can I say? Programming is murder on your free time."

"Revolver, to be specific, but I'd prefer a handgun, even if it ends up being humorously over-sized to accommodate a 20mm round. I figured a 3-round cylinder would be the most realistic thing to go with, considering that a .500 already drops you down to a fiver." Giving Gren a wicked smile as they began to plot how to create these blessed weapons, Oswald almost let a frown slip through when Anna came. Right, he remembered seeing more blonde hair than usual this morning.

'How's the blonde in the uniform doing today?'

'You mean Krysanthe? Legs for days.' Did...did Gren not notice? Holy shit, Gren didn't notice. Your dedication to the art of murder will be appreciated, you glorious fucking psycho.

"That's to be expected, but if possible, I'd rather limit the battery life of the shield rather than it's power, though I understand that doing so might cause some issues with the unit itself. I'm hoping to use it for either area defense or to stop overwhelming attacks. Like, say, an anti-aircraft cannon getting shot at you when you're down to a third of your Aura."

Oddly specific scenario that made his entire side ache just at the very thought of it aside, Oswald nodded. "Hi, Emm. Hi, Anna. We're working on developing a few weapons that will hopefully allow us to prevent something like last Friday from ever happening again. If we ever come across more psychos like that...we need to be prepared. We can't get caught off guard again if we want to stay in this business for very long." He ignored Anna's complaining. She was more manageable when you didn't give in to her flirting, he'd gathered. She'd give up eventually, she had to.

Right?
