Love. A feeling that can be explained with a few words or impossible for some to verbalize. It can be for a parent at the start of life..and eventually that little spark of love can grow into an inferno for another person. Even the world's version of modern gods can fall in love...the protectors of this fine city feeling as human as a normal mortal. As can their dark counter parts meeting a loved one in private after committing terrible acts of violence. You are only human as you feel..or so the saying goes..

@Silverink Regarding the while superpowers thing. How powerful should they be? Are we talking Dr. Manhattan poweful, which is being powerful enough to manipulate reality through will alone? Or are we talking Daredevil powerful, which is merely having ones physical and mental abilities enhanced? I mean, where do you draw the line when it comes to how powerful someone is?

@ineffable NO RUSH! I just put that in as a statement..I don't even have my sheet up yet lol.

@TwelveOf8 You can have a power as strong as you want..just don't break the game..and remember the stronger your power is the greater the cost will be. Example..Super strength..at the cost of slowly becoming paraplegic due to the strain on your muscles and bone structure.

Was wondering, could you explain the Heroes concept a bit more to me?
So they are putting up a united front in front of everyone but out of public view they have their problems?

@ineffable If you wish to view it as that way. The..descriptions I used were just possible scenarios that could happen..after all what couple doesn't have the occasional problem. I meant it as..even heroes can have problems..not that you have to to make it what the problem is. Does that make sense?

@Silverink Haven't done this in a while...

Name: Eric Mason
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Role: Retiree
Alter-Ego: Flux

Personality: Eric has always been a bit selfish in one way or another. As a husband and father, Eric only really cares about his family, and this may be why he is totally fine being retired. He usually calm and lighthearted, always throwing a bit of jest from time to time. Eric smiles with those he is close to and keeps neutral expression when dealing with anyone else. At times, he can be overprotective, but only because he does not want his child to be pulled into either of the lives that he and his wife led in the past. Though Eric sees himself as an opposite of his wife, he enjoys her feisty nature. At the same time, he wishes he could bring her down to his level sometimes.

The quickest ways to piss Eric off would be to threaten his family in any way, tampering with his livelihood, or forcing him into a situation where he would have to openly use his powers. Eric abstains from using his powers, especially outside of his home. Even if it proved to be more convenient to him, Eric would choose an alternative. When it comes to affection, Eric does not need much to be satisfied. In fact, he enjoys being the one giving the affection, whether it be through spontaneous da[b][tes or having the occasional play fight.

Power: Remote Teleportation. Able to teleport himself and teleport other objects within his vicinity without physical contact
Drawback: Before teleporting himself, Eric must have an idea of where he is appearing. He does not necessarily have to see the place he would like to appear, but he can’t go somewhere that he has no knowledge of (ie: Someone asks him to teleport to a landmark he has never heard of or seen). When it comes to teleporting other objects, these objects can only be teleported by Eric if he can see or knows where an object is in his vicinity. At the same time, he can only make his target teleport within his vicinity (ie: Teleporting someone’s wrist watch into his own pocket, or into a bird’s nest on a tree visible to Eric. The most major and unexplainable drawback is if used too many times consecutively, Eric can end up in a place he has called the “Space.” The Space is an empty realm that can hold Eric for an unknown measure of time. In addition, using his powers in the open could queue others into finding out who he used to be.

Personal History: Eric was raised within a low-income family as an only child, a life he has always tried to escape. As his father was barely able to keep a steady job and his mother unable to work due to a back injury from her previous job, Eric constantly faced a life he loathed facing. Unfortunately, the company she used to work for made her out to be completely at fault. In this environment, both selfishness and desperation set in Eric’s mind. His first goal, which seemed easy enough, was to pick a sport and excel. For Eric, this was football. He was not the largest kid in his high school, being lanky and quick on his feet, Eric fit himself into any football team as wide receiver.

In time, Eric saw himself as somewhat of a local celebrity in his hometown for his feats on his high school football team. This would be his first taste of the spotlight in his life, and probably the most positive as well. Unfortunately, this local fame did not help with bringing money into the household. In sober moments, Eric’s father expressed how proud he was of his son, but when the man was under the influence of alcohol, the truth surfaced. Eric’s father initiated arguments, and guilt trip Eric into believing he was selfish and did not care about his family. With it happening so often, the harsh criticism and guilt got to Eric. He tried his hand at a part time job, but he felt like he was not making enough to make a difference. In time, he quit his part time job and turned to fast and risky ways to acquire money. He linked up with some guys he knew from his neighborhood and without much persuasion, Eric was in. The small group made their bank in small time crime, but their money maker had to be burglary above all else. The thrill of it gave Eric a greater rush than when he was running the ball in for a touchdown, and the payoff was even better. Eric learned that all good things come to an end. All it took was a well-planned sting operation.

After being arrested, Eric was given a bittersweet punishment due to his local popularity. Eric was excused from being charged in exchange for being removed from the football team. This punishment seemed worse than being charged, leaving him defeated. Worst of all, that same night his father lashed out at him, nearly causing the two to get into a physical altercation, but Eric managed to walk out of the house before something strange happened. He teleported across the street. This was the first display of his powers and the start of a new chapter in his life.

With football ripped away from his clutches, Eric decided to focus on only four things: his studies, his powers, making money, and most importantly himself. Unlike most people those days, Eric was extremely hush-hush about his powers. At the time, people around the world were popping up with superpowers, so it was not completely uncommon. Eric just wanted to keep his powers secret, so he could continue his life of crime on a bigger scale without it leading back to him so easily. Going in and out of houses made his own solo burglaries easy. Eric stuck to just that, spreading his crime radius within the county. He would say his first super villain name was “The Phantom Thief” which he took a little pride in, despite it being a lousy name. Once he obtained enough cash, he moved out of his parent’s home. Just to be safe, he purposely engaged in an argument with his father to be kicked out of the home. As everything set into place, Eric soon found himself attending technical school to be a structural engineer. The job allowed him to travel, so it helped his super villain business as well as understand the anatomy of structures. This made it easy for him to take what he wanted from wherever he set his sights on.

Not long after, Eric delved into other illegal activities, from extortion to even going toe to toe with some superheroes. He did have one rule, however… He would never involve himself in taking the life of another. It was not something he wanted to be involved in, and his only goal for being “the bad guy” was for the rush and easy cash. Flux was his name, and he was untouchable, fleeing the scene before things got too hot, and changing locations when things got stale. Complacency soon got the better of him, for the second time in his life. One false move and Eric broke his sacred rule. He did not just kill one person, but many at once. It was avoidable as it was a consequence of his pride and wanting to play around during a job. The lives he took that day shook him to the point of attempting to turn himself in, but he was afraid that it would just lead to his own demise. He was not only hated but hunted. Eric retired that day, with only a handful of people knowing his whereabouts.

Eric went full-on legitimate, not even attempting to roll past a stop sign. He drank sometimes to cope with what he had done, and just hoped that one day he would be able to do enough good to balance the scales. He considered being a hero, but that was not something he ever wanted. Besides, who would forgive him in that light. Who would forgive him period? This something that bothered him for several months. He figured someone would eventually realize who he was and end him, and part of him waited for that as he sat on his front porch every night with a cold glass of whiskey in hand. Little did he know, someone was coming for him… and that person would be the first to forgive him.

Focus: As of now, Eric wants to remain retired and settled down. He tries to encourage his spouse that retirement is not as bad as she makes it seem.

Relationships

Villian 1: Possible acquaintance.

Villian 2: Possible acquaintance.

Retiree 2: Eric’s loving and very spunky wife. The two first met after he had turned around his life. Her original mission was to take a villain in for his crimes, but instead, she found a changed and reformed man.

Hero 1:

Hero 2: Sister-in-law.

@ineffable Think you can flesh out the character a bit more in terms of personality? Such as is she any different when in disguise etc. Same thing with the history, I understand who she is on a basic level but what about her alter ego and the effects it has had on her life. Why did she start being a hero etc.

If you want to keep key points as spoiler territory make a note, but don't hide too much.

@FunnyGuy Accepted, looks great!! The 'Space' drawback makes me think of the The Timetraveler's Wife, if I am understanding the risk that he can literally get stuck there. Does time move any slower or?

@ineffable Looks great! Feel free to post in the character section!

@TwelveOf8 Your sheet looks great so far, but think you can expand on his personality in terms of why he became a hero and or his views on it all. As well as adding a touch more to his hero history as to how and why he got started?
