Nayeli Zyanya

Nayeli mumbled from a rooftop.

"Beloved, this would be a mission we could solve so easily by ourselves. I'm still fighting for the city, are you happy? Watching over me? Please give my arm strength before this great fight."

She finally eyed her targets through binoculars. They were in Edis park. They had betrayed the hunters, they would be cut down, it was simple. There had been others who had died for the organization, throwing it aside was wretched. She spoke to her partner, seemingly just remembering her she was there. She smiled warmly at her.

"Lymarx, are you ready? Now, both of use prefer to engage close range, which means this initial jump is the most important of this entire mission. We have to jump right next to them. Just a protip."

She looked off to the sky one last time, then closed her eyes.

"I really want to see you, but I don't think you'd be happy right now. A pair of hunters vs a pair hunters. Its a bloody world. Nayeli Zyanya."

She snapped her eyes open, grabbing her weapons, a shield and obsidian blade. She leapt off the building, leaping at a tree right next to the pair, before heading straight to the two, diving in on Kaelia in particular, hoping to slash at her. She was wordless to her victim.

Why is she treating me like this is my first mission as a hunter?

A slightly disappointed frown formed on Iname Lymarx’s lips as her partner, Nayeli Zyanya, decided to initiate combat with their targets – former hunters of the organization they worked for and from the intelligence given to them, traitors of the creed. Despite her marks being comrades-in-arms and people she respected, the eleven year old hunter had no interest in what Sophia and Kaelia had to say for themselves; they had signed their sentence when they betrayed the cause. It was a cause that had defined Lymarx’s entire life when the organization took her in where she had nowhere else to go and nobody to turn to. The organization to her was family. And if there was anything Lymarx believed it was no matter what you don’t turn your back on family.

Her brows narrowed as she followed Nayeli’s lead – pushing her spiritual energy into her legs as she did so as they connected with at first a tree but then the ground. Keeping the flow of spiritual energy in her legs she moved forward like a dart, aiming a hard kick towards Sophia’s stomach. As she did so she remarked with a wry smirk as she often did.

“I hope you don’t mind us dropping in!”

Kaelia KatelaThe Guardian

“Well, the intel said they would be here, and I do sense a presence or two,” Kaelia said, her form garbed in what had become her signature attire. Her armor draping her form, she glanced at Sophia, her partner for the contract. It was odd, the Organization didn't usually send an equal amount of Hunters to deal with rogues, but alas they would make due. Perhaps they simply felt that quality over quantity would be sufficient. The idea brought a small smile to her face, pride gleaming in her eyes before her eyes suddenly narrowed, she'd caught movement out of the corner of her eye. Whipping around, Kaelia saw the two soaring through the air, took a step forwards so she stood in front of Sophia slightly, and drew one of her two blades in a fluid movement. As she drew the blade known as Brightvein her free left hand popped the cap off of a vial in its padded cloth enclosure. Following this, Kaelia's left hand remained poised near her waist.

Then the first woman reached her and in response to the slash she had already whipped her left hand up. With it came a flow of what appeared to be glistening liquid silver. It splashed up and spread out in front of Kaelia vertically, forming a shield. Meanwhile, her right arm struck forwards, driving the shield forth with her will so as to slam into the woman and her sword, intending to drive her back. She took another step forwards, and let go of her blade, snatching it with her left hand, bringing it into range, the flat of the blade parallel to what she was realizing was a little girl's foot, which would almost surely collide with the blade. Provided that it did—her own enhancement magic already active, the blade would bend in the middle, the motion dispersing some of the girl's momentum not to mention the magic dispersing properties of the blade itself, before it hardened properly and Kaelia swung, attempting to throw the little girl away from them.

Should it be required of her, she would adjust accordingly.

Instead of her foot connecting with Sophia’s stomach something else had connected – Kaelia’s sword.

The two were grouped pretty close together still, so it didn’t bear any surprise for Lymarx considering she had seen the sword swing forward before meeting with her foot which provoked her to put more spiritual pressure into the attack right before it collided. It was only a minute amount of aura, but it was enough to allow her to not be thrown off-kilter. However, Lymarx didn’t exactly want to push her foot against the sword in a long effort or contest so she chose to release the kick once it connected and then pushed herself back; away from the range of the blade with her eyes still both on Sophia and Kaelia.

As she did so, she moved in a rotation, keeping her eyes where they were – circling like a bestial predator. It brought a thought to her mind as she tried to analyze the combat situation she found herself in.

We’ve got to separate them if we want to subdue them.

Sophia Taeryn

Sophia walked along side Kaelia, her small stature making her have to work a little harder to keep pace with the taller woman. Brown tresses bounced along in a ponytail as she turned her head in Kaelia's direction, seeming to want to say something. She was worried about their mission. Not so much that they wouldn't complete it--she had full faith that she and Kaelia would be able to work together on that--but, more that she really didn't want to fight them. Part of her wanted to try and reason with the traitors, but she knew it was likely impossible. The thought hurt her. The IHO was a family. Both its rules, and the rules of her own family were very clear: One does not betray their kin.

With the woman lost in her own thoughts, she just barely managed to catch what Kaelia had said about sensing people. At mention of it, though, Sophia coated her body in vis, forming a clear outer layer over her skin as she did so. After several seconds, it was in place. It had been just enough time.

Just as her shield covered her body completely, she caught sight of a pair coming toward them from the air. One--a little girl, it seemed--landed and then attempted to kick her in the stomach. For what appeared to be a child, her control over vis was almost impeccable. Before either Sophia, or the child could do anything, Kaelia blocked the kick with her sword, and sent her backward.

"Never understood why the IHO lets kids in. Even if they have guardians who are permitting it." Sophia muttered to herself, her eyes locked on the little girl as she circled them for a moment, and then moved over to the dark skinned woman with a strange looking sword.

This was going to be interesting, to say the least.

Nayeli Zyanya

The shield pushed against Nayeli, stopping her blow, and shattering the obsidian completely on one side, pushing it into the wood. This was good enough, as it would start to naturally absorb some of the vis in the shield, stopping some of the force pushing against her. Nayeli stood her ground, and smashed her shield against the silver to give herself some room with her blade. She swung up with her blade at awkward position, scraping against the ground. The blunt wood would do nothing against the shield, except maybe damage itself and weaken the shield slightly with its vampiric healing. It still was unlikely to do anything more to it. A rising blade of obsidian from the earth beneath Kaelia's legs might be slightly more persuasive, however. It moved straight up.

Tezcatlipoca's Blade

Nayeli continued her little speech and tips from before through the attack.

"Now, when an opponent has a guard up is when they are most vulnerable, as they tend to be confident they can block. The best tactic against a well-guarded opponent is a surprise as it breaks their focus. Traitors receive no mercy. They've killed worse in their selfishness than us."

She still pressed her shield against Kaelia's eyeing her opponent carefully to see how she would react. It was odd, on one hand, her eyes were focused, they knew the battle was important. On the other hand, they seemed distance, like Nayeli wasn't really there. Combined, it was more like she was reliving a memory.

Kaelia KatelaThe Guardian

The girl retreated, and Brightvein was pushed back somewhat as she did so, but she managed to stop its momentum enough so that it came nowhere near Sophia. Letting her arm fall she heard the sound of something striking her shield and in the same moment something else gouging at the ground. She narrowed her eyes, crouched and then her senses alerted her of movement from below. She immediately jumped back and out of the way, before jumping to the right and forwards. Opening her second vial, she waited for her opponent's reply, knowing that now that Sophia had her shield up she would more or less be able to handle herself.

This in mind, she let a small amount of silver out as she approached, out of sight, her footsteps and movements quieter than normal due to her experience as a hunter and the enchanted nature of the armor. Plus she could manipulate the individual plates so they didn't jostle against one another. It was something she'd long since learned to do almost unconsciously. It was second nature.

Trying at an attack before she finished closing the distance—her form still obscured by her shield—she manipulated said barrier, letting the left side seem to meld into the rest of the shield, before spikes grew from the surface, attempting to strike the general area that she had last heard her adversary. She doubted it would strike if they were truly skilled, but there was no real reason not to try.

While Kaelia noted the attempted absorption of vis from her metals she had no need to worry about it. The vis in the conduit metal was fused into a solid state, having bonded with the material effectively making it part of the metal. It was this vis which was attuned to her own, which was what allowed her to control the metal, and also what made it so troublesome, since the manipulation didn't take much vis to fuel, and didn't really pour the vis into the metal itself, but rather expended it slowly over time for each manipulation.

Nayeli Zyanya -Tezcatlipoca's Wrath

Nayeli didn't hear her obsidian blade strike, and so backed off slightly from the wall. Just in time it seemed as the silver wall quickly produced spikes trying to impale her. Nayeli managed to block several of them with her shield. If the spiked didn't need much fuel, they would quickly be drained dry as her shield would heal all damage done by them, quickly stopping them with little more than a tap. That, and the blocks managed to deflect herself as much as they did the spikes. Kaelia would hear the crunch of the impact at the very least.

Nayeli, however, didn't hear impact from her earlier long ranged blade, or any sort of impact, meaning it must have been dodged.

What reflexes, she dully thought to herself.

It was time for Nayeli to move. She saw the obsidian blade flying above the shield. It was time to act. Nayeli jumped up, landing on the top spike before jumping over the shield. It almost seemed in slow motion as she ended above the blade, and her eyes narrowing at Kaelia beneath.

"Traitors."

She swung her sword at her obsidian projectile. As did, it shattered. Several pieces melded onto her sword, but the majority blasted downward in a wave of glass shrapnel down on Kaelia. Looking at it was inadvisable.

Tezcatlipoca's Breath

Tezcatlipoca's Blesssing

Falling slightly, she kicked off against the very top of the shield as her spray hid her, flying towards a new target, Sophia. She swung her reforged sword at the young girl, a strike that was easily identified as going for her neck.

Lymarx clenched her fists as she continued to keep her spacing – her eyes focused on Sophia with her ears open for Nayeli’s movements against Kaelia so she knew when to strike. The comment from the Taeryn woman caused Lymarx to press her tongue against her upper-right canine, her frown pressed on her lips shuddering a moment. It was something the orange-haired girl had heard before many times. “But you’re a child!” and similar utterances were typical to the point that sometimes she pretended to have dwarfism to avoid the pointless ridicule she garnered. It was nothing new.

Whatever, just’ll make taking her down more satisfying.

That’s when she heard it. The cue Lymarx needed to prepare for was her convoluted retort; the nonsense that her ‘partner’ had decided to speak of. ‘Traitors deserve no mercy’. It was a statement that held some significance; and as weird as Nayeli Zyanya may have been, in this she was absolutely and undeniably correct. As she heard it she focused hard. She kept her spitual energy focused in her legs like before, knowing full well she had to maintain the speed and dexterity that she held when she sprung her kick into Kaelia’s sword. However, this time she expected to actually hit her target.

Slamming her right foot in the ground in front of her, her serious expression turned into a cocky smirk as she pushed her body forward, increasing her speed whilst also kicking an amount of dirt into the air in an attempt to blur vision. With the intent to keep her head low and feet quick she pushed forward with the intention of sweeping Sophia’s feet and striking her quickly and without hesitation.

This was before Nayeli sent a sword flying towards Sophia's neck, of course.

Sophia’s eyes had been watching the child’s vis, waiting for some sort of attack. However, a movement in the corner of her vision caused her to turn her head. Time seemed to slow down before her as she watched the woman that Kaelia had been fighting was now headed in her direction. Great. Fucking fantastic. With a huff of irritation, she moved quite a bit of vis down to her legs, just as dust rose up around them. Aside from a small cough, the dust didn’t do much to impair her, her vis sight allowing her to track the two people headed in her direction solely based on their vis.

The little girl was fast approaching, and so was the woman. With a steadying breath, Sophia crouched down, and then leapt up and back into the air about 20 feet. As she floated in the air, she used vis to keep herself up. She manifested her vis bow and three fire arrows, her right eye now glowing a bright yellow. She held the three arrows against the string of the bow, and drew back before letting them fly in the direction of her two assailants. Once they connected to either the women, or the ground, they would explode.

She manifested three more arrows, and loosed them from the bow before creating a clear platform in the air to stand on instead of continuing to float.

Kaelia KatelaThe Guardian

Up. She didn't look, no time. Moving instinctively, she tensed her legs. Her foot came down and she pivoted, swiveling into a 180 degree turn. Using her will to pull silver from the wall, the second vial, and her own armor she formed a helm in the same moment. The obsidian bombarded her, but touched not an inch of flesh.

Finishing her pivot, her other foot hit earth, and was immediately used to push her forth in an blur. Sophia dodged, eliciting a smile from Kaelia; she brought her blade up in preparation for a strike whilst, silver trailed in thin streams through the air behind her, following in her wake. Again, Kaelia pushed off the ground, using Augmentation magic to dial up her speed. Easily, she overtook Nayeli, putting herself between the young girl and her partner in an instant. She pivoted and spun as she stopped, turning her forwards momentum into centrifugal force, blade spinning out from her form to strike at both combatants whilst they lunged, or arrived, at Sophia's former location.

Things were about to get hectic.

Are you kidding me?

Lymarx’s eyes widened as the events transpired in front of her. Instead of sweeping Sophia’s legs to her advantage her target was suddenly several feet in the air thus cheating Lymarx’s offense. To make matter’s worse it seemed like her partner couldn’t keep one other hunter occupied enough where she could focus; a fact that reminded her that after this mission succeeded she would have to file the proper paperwork to get reassigned. But that was later; right now made it more imperative that she had to dodge not only Kaelia’s sword swing from her flank but also Sophia’s arrows from above. Ultimately, even with having done the proper research on her targets she knew that she was in a tricky situation. Perhaps this was why she was glad she was A) small and B) smart.

Her energy still focused in her feet, on her rotation to sweep she dug her feet into the ground for a mere second before releasing a burst of spiritual energy causing her to propel herself away from the situation. As she became airborne and explosions ignited all around her she pushed her teeth together before her arms caught a branch of one of the trees in the park before using it to swing and flip back onto “solid” ground. She didn’t get cocky though – she knew Sophia was likely preparing another burst of arrows.

She turned around in a defensive stance, trying to get a tactical sense of things.
