@Silverink It is because he doesn't want his superhero life to intrude upon his normal life. I always assumed all superheroes are like this. All but the supremely powerful ones that is.

@ineffable Nothing has really happened yet. Silverinks character is having a meeting with two detectives, my character is working the bar, and Scarlet Loups character has just approached the bar to order a drink. No real story nor character development has happened just yet. In fact we're just in the middle of establishing the scene.

Have you considered the following:
*What would your character be doing at the time of the scene?
*How does your character feel about the one shes in a relationship with?
*How does your character feel about their current circumstances?
*What does your character wish to accomplish?
