@Nohbdy

There are weights listed for everything in the inquisitors handbook.

All told each person carries roughly 20kg worth of shit (uniform, rations, bedroll, etc) before you calculate in weapons and ammo.

Plus I also feel like just putting our grav chutes 'on the servitor' is kind of a cheat. How exactly does this servitor' carry 5 grav chutes? I mean physically, where on his body does he fit them all? Plus another 5 from the comrades?

It is honestly easier and makes Infinitly more sense just to ditch them for the purposes of this mission. An enclosed hive is just a bad place to bring a bulky grav chute.

We don't absolutely positively 100% need to have them.

@AdvancedJ3lly Think I touched everything. Mind checking it out?

It looks all good to me! If you'd like, you can trade the Lasgun for a Bullpup Lasgun, as that's Elysian standard issue in the lore. If not, that's cool too, just an option.

The 38 kg was for items listed as having weight in the Only War corebook. If AdvancedJ3lly wants us to go to the weights listed in the Inqs Handbook I'll trawl back through.

You're not wrong that the servitor carrying 10 packs is physically an issue, but they also don't have to be stored such that they're immediately useable either. Put them in a considerably larger bag? Tow them on a sled or suspensor cart of some description? Stack them in its arms?

In practical terms, Tigerius probably isn't going to let anyone potentially wreck any of the ornamentation anyway, but still, tech is tech, and when you've got a cargo lifter standing *right there* entirely unburdened...

Nope, you don't. But, tossing them in some alleyway to save weight will probably get your tech-priest and quartermaster pretty upset.
Also bear in mind that a hive city isn't just endless tunnels. Vertical movement can be pretty critical.

Anyways, it's not like you're a band of adventurers expected to carry all of your kit at all times. If you're being deployed on a short combat patrol, your platoon leader isn't going to make you bring your toothbrush and spare boxer shorts from base when all you really need is your combat load.

Here is the thing with that. I don't doubt the servitor' can carry the total weight. But it's the physical size of each one. They aren't small. It would not be possible to stuff them in bags or stake them in any sort of way. Certainly none that a tech priest would approve of.

Even if we did the sled idea, where do we get the sled? And why would we cart a bloody sled around? That would slow us down so much we might as well just wear the chutes anyway.

30kg is total crap

This picture definitely says 7.8kg, which is much more reasonable.

I also found this while browsing the interwebs. Not saying that we should use it. But people come up with some actually cool and decent homebrew rules sometimes.

The 40K wiki page also states "The weapon is based on an extremely ancient design, making it too heavy to be carry manually"

For comparison, the German MG 08 machine gun from world war one weighed 26.5kg without a tripod or water.

It's relatively low damage can be explained by the fact that stubbers are outdated weapons based on real-world, modern day technology while autoguns are modern by 30-40M standards, firing high-velocity caseless rounds.

But yes, GW is known for dropping the ball on logic in some cases, such as giving 40K tanks thinner armor than many late war World War Two tanks, or how no one is really sure what the deal is with Hellguns vs. Hot-shot Lasguns.

over the span of 40,000 years Archaic is a bit relative I suppose. I would hardly call it low damage. They are still supposedly equivalent to .50 caliber. stronger than an autogun or lasgun, just not a bolter.

in the end I'll go with what the Dm ruling is. but this weight system is messed up

The Accatran pattern Mk IV lasgun. It's looks just like a FAMAS, but in lasgun form. They're preferred because they're shorter than the standard lasgun so easier to carry/jump with.

Not that it matters. Elysians are my favorite. :P

While it may be an error on the part of the writers, it can also be seen as simply a part of the setting. Armor is massive, guns are big and very much hunks of metal that spit out heavy slugs. War in M41 is fought by giant supersoldiers, horrific monsters, and mechanical titans. Technology is both tremendously advanced and horribly backwards and normal humans are completely outclassed.

Having a machine gun more like those of WW2 than the lightweight, mobile weapons of the modern day makes sense in a way, considering even the tactics of the Guard is outdated with most regiments using the doctrines of WW1 armies.

@AdvancedJ3lly

Even a heavy stubber I believe is supposed to be a threat to a space marine in the lore. Autoguns and lasguns and regular stub weapons are a joke to them. but the heavy stubber actually has some power behind it. Enough to pierce at least the soft armour of a space marine if it hits the right spot.

At least that was the case in a few novels and the like.

In any case, I'll be taking a heavy stubber as my weapon mostly because it is still the lightest option and the easiest to keep supplied with ammo.

I just realized I have a toughness of 50, holy shit. I can carry all the bullets.

Also my character is done. review it at your liesure

@Ollumhammersong Same. Weapon Specialist wounds are determined by 8+1d5, and I had rolled one on my roll. Suppose Brigan is destined to be a glass cannon on the battlefield.

@Ollumhammersong

You seem to be missing a background. Also, did you take two toughness advances? Your sheet only lists one. Otherwise, it looks pretty good.
A note: You still get that combat shotgun and shells, something I recommend you hold onto. That heavy stubber has a -30 BS if it isn't properly braced, so it isn't exactly a gun that can be used on the move or during assaults.

@Warborn123

It looks pretty good. Your fellowship should be -3, not -2 I believe. Something tells me someone who sustained injuries like his might've been mustered out of service or at least put in a non-combat role, but what the hell, I won't be too strict about that.

the old concern of weight resurfaces. Dropping that shotgun and its ammo saves me 10kg and actually being able to carry around the stubber.

I also think its stupid that heavy weapons don't come stock with bipods for bracing.

as for the toughness thing. The heavy trooper gets +5 toughness bonus for free

@Ollumhammersong

Your CS lists your toughness as 35+5+5+5. I understand +10 of that is from the Heavy Gunner specialty and from a basic advance. I'm not sure where the third +5 is from.

Also, feel free to take a bipod or tripod with your weapon, with the latter likely being carried by your comrade.
