Enterprise bio: Little more than Amelia and two friends – and former employees – Luminary Industries is not, currently, very impressive. All three of its current employees and shareholder hail from Old Earth, engineers by training and former employment, involved in the construction and maintenance of the homeworld’s towering arcologies.

Amelia was the catalyst for the formation of the company venture; her choices were fairly stark back on Earth – marry a wealthy chinless wonder (and one who had no intention of putting up with her little peccadilloes, at that) or sell her assets and seek her fortune. With all the old certainties in flux thanks to the Federation’s coup, she seized her chance to escape into the black, with every intention of becoming rich and powerful enough to make anyone pause.

Not a fool by any stretch of the imagination, the glimmer that would become Luminary Industries sparked into existence when she came across Andrei Baltuška’s sample test results, rather than old spacer’s tales, and unlike the scientific oversight officers the man had laboured under, she at least had seen the glorious, glorious potential inherent in the stuff. And, admittedly, a potential way out of her own situation. After that, it was easy for her to convince a couple of friends to come onboard and thus, Luminary Industries was formed and formally incorporated, registered on the corporate tax haven of Luna with one Amelia Reinhardt as Chair of the Board and CEO.

She knows that water is a vital resource, whether fresh or salt, and the central island of the sea could potentially provide a final redoubt.

Three former convicts all from very different backgrounds decided life on Earth was all too difficult for men with records. Asher took charge and presented a handful of friends with the idea of heading into the stars to create a new slate for themselves soon after the United Nations was usurped. After several months of planning and conning other's into taking loans, they've gathered enough capital to get themselves to Ember and set up a humble yet functional base of operations. While they aren't super soldiers or brilliant engineers, they are a rugged group of down to earth men with hopes to become rich. With a little luck, they can provide for their families back home and keep their children from making the same mistakes they did.

Ex military, ex con, former Merc. Howie knows nothing of mining but he knows combat and war. He follows the money, and where there's money there are people afraid to lose it. Howie knows the dangers of hostile planets from his own previous personal unpleasant experiences. He's here to support, protect and transport people and their cargo for a price.

Biography: Howie Carver was a military man. A skilled pilot, leader and mechanic, he had a busy service record. However he wasn't always on the winning side. After his service he slipped into crime to make ends meet. Using the only skills he had. After capture and release he rebuilt himself as a mercenary, going a bit more legit with his talents and using them for a proper income.

Leader name: Minister Raymond Starr
Enterprise bio: The Church of Cosmology has always been a very controversial organization throughout its existance. It was started in the late 20th century by astronaut, biologist, fiction writer and self proclaimed prophet Allan Wright. Cosmology claimed that the big bang that started the universe was one of many in the universe's infinite cycle. They claim that we are repeating past lives in this infinite loop and that they have methods to discover our memories in our past lives. This memories are said to make one almost superhuman by tapping into the advanced knowledge of our former selves.

However the church had been notorious for their religious practices. It has been claimed that the church used psychedelic substances during gatherings, forcing members to contribute to the organization and using their financial wealth to tarnish the names of anybody who speaks against them.

If anything however, the church's influence only increased with its infamy. That was until few years before the coup on Earth would take place. Several high ranking members of the church were accused of tax evasion. Soon a number of other charges were filed from extortion to money laundering. The church had its assets frozen and most of its most influential members, including the Head Minister of the church, arrested.

After the Federation came into power, with almost no capital and members left, Minister Raymond Starr lead what was left of his flock out of Earth. He decided to move with his loyal believers to the very edge of known space where he could start a new. To the red-rocked Eden of Ember. The natural abundance of baltuskite on Ember would make the rebuilding of his church that much more easier. With everything at stake and nothing to lose, Minister Starr led his followers into the stars.

Omnistellar Works is the offspring of Argus Defense Solutions, a controversial Martian corporation that dealt in corporate espionage. Before the coup, Argus Defense Solutions operated on the edge between legality and illegality, conducting its often unethical business right under the nose of the colonial government, but taking the necessary precautions to ensure the plausible deniability that kept it from being shut down. The company was rumored to conduct espionage for other corporations, the Earth government, and even the Martian Revolutionary Front.

During its heyday, Argus Defense Solutions masqueraded as a company dealing with the research and development of experimental technology, and went to great lengths to maintain that illusion through investments into various forms of tech, as well as partaking in the actual development and testing of weapon systems for personal and military use. In reality, the company systematically gathered information on other corporations, which they used and sold through intermediaries.

Months before the Federation's coup, Argus Defense Solutions was targeted by the authorities on Earth and became at risk of total shutdown, and prosecution. As a result, the company's earnings plummeted as clients began to distance themselves. During that time, Argus Defense Solutions was secretly contacted by government officials through intermediaries who offered amnesty in exchange for the corporation's services. Wary of a trap, Matias Makinen - the company's CEO - turned down the offer.

Argus Defense Solutions was contacted again shortly after in a more transparent manner and Matias Makinen was brought up to speed on the coming conspiracy to overthrow the Earth government. Argus was to be one of many corporations secretly preparing to back the military-led coup months later. Ever cautious, Matias maintained plausible deniability and began to feign assistance, offering what little information he could through indirect sources not easily traced back to Argus Defense Solutions.

Secretly, in the weeks prior to the coup, he began to leak information to the Earth government, hoping to build a case for a pardon by the UN in the event that the Federation failed and the UN was made aware of the corporation's involvement. He was effectively working for both sides, and receiving payments. By the time the coup took place, Argus Defense Solutions had recouped its losses through these secret contracts.

In the months after the Federation's coup, Makinen was made aware, through secret communications and contacts, that the full extent of his involvement had been uncovered. On Earth, the military drag net had rounded up countless people suspected of working against the Federation, and it was only a matter of time before the crackdown reached Mars. Though Makinen could not confirm the authenticity of the claims, he had grown paranoid over the months and felt the Federation could turn on him the way they had against others who had assisted during the coup. He destroyed many documents stashed at the company's headquarters, and suddenly disappeared, bound for Ember.

True to his craft, Makinen gathered information on his would-be competitors, hoping it would give him an edge on the godforsaken planet that awaited him. Though his sudden departure was, at first, simply an escape, Makinen developed ideas for something greater on Ember. There were riches to be had, and he needed that, but having left all that he knew behind, he began to miss the life he had on Mars. This unexpected venture into the mining business was to be a means to an end. Not just a cash-cow, but the foundation of a new planetary order, independent and self-sufficient; Ember was to be his new home.
