Historically speaking, it wasn't as if minorities had the same opportunities as whites did in America considering the gap in education and segregation back when minorities weren't even people. Is it better now? Yes. Undeniably so. But the playing field isn't exactly even all the same. Privilege exists but it's not a catch-all excuse and recognizing that yes, some people do in fact have it easier isn't the end of the world as much as some people like to think it is.

I do not believe white men have some magical special qualities others do not get - if they do, please refer me to them so I can claim what apparently rightfully belongs to me.

The magical power of historical inertia perhaps. And its ok, people can fail to capitalize on their privilege just as some of us succeed in spite of it.

And I think changing your mind is fairly impossible, so that is that.

Changing someones mind is a long and gradual process even it it is possible. That being said information introduced can never truly be excised.

I kekd pretty good. It's not like Cleopatra chances are had red hair and was a Macedonian making her Greek and/or Slavic and thus 100% white. Not only are folks denying more complex shit but simple recorded history.

<Snipped quote by Andreyich>

I mean that whole 'starter pack' specifically is all over the place. Is it supposed to be things Africans have contributed to society or things that people who don't think Africans contributed to society are into because I'm not sure the Swedish developers of Crusader Kings 2 have done much in the way of societal contributions of the African person.

Also I'm about 70 percent sure that Blacked was started by Caucasians anyway. Which would of course lead me to believe the starter pack is for people that think Africans contribute nothing because history shows again and again that interracial cuckold porn is top tier shit for pasty white folks with HOT TAKES.

I log in to say goodbye to one of my 1×1 and yous just wont let me be retired.

Yeah its a starterpack for people who think africans have contributed nothing, or rather peoople who use that sentence in an argument.

Andy, i dont think anyone is saying that cleopatra wasnt at least mostly greek, I think the starterpack is highlighting that people who call their own women 'bedwenches' and play crusdaer kings as a power fantasy are the type of guys to never shut up about it.

And its not just caucasions who create/consume blacked but specifically insecure right-wing men with racist inferiority complexes. If all the pseudo-science you read tells you that africans are physically more manly than you in damm near everyway, its bound to have an effect on at least a few of you.

Also there is a second order effect over a large number of decision points.

My chief problem with the concept of "white privilege" is that it seems to be the exclusive intellectual property of total and complete clownshoes. There are valid points within the concept. Undeniable, valid, real problems, having to do with past and present injustices that actually exist.

Then instead of trying to solve any of those problems, WP gets whipped out like a trump card whenever a liberal gets dangerously close to actual critical thinking.

I would love to talk about how unequal racial distribution of poverty affects the educational and professional outcomes of various demographics. But I can't do that, because the same people who think that black people can't handle obtaining an ID to vote will start lecturing me about what a racist I am.*

*note: these lecturing people are almost always the whitest person in the room, for whatever that's worth.

@mdk Yup, it's the accusations and lack of common ground that keep people from building bridges.

Your caring or not caring does not change the fact that immigrants, people of color and women all face additional hoops which white males typically do not have to deal with.

That is privilege.

Where does the obligation to care for those come from? It's not in meta-morality.

Like, let us indeed say privilege exists, where does the inherit need to counter-act it come from?

Well I never really accepted them having more "masculine" traits. For a start, white are typically taller than blacks, with the tallest in the world being the Dinaric Slavs and Greeks, DESPITE their heavy malnutrition and living in an impoverished state.

I'll admit I'm pretty jelly of how black people can get their hair done though, like without any sarcasm. Having it so short yet so curly is pretty fucking stylish.

And it's approaching everything from the wrong angle. Like.... I don't wanna live in a country where nobody gets to have "white privilege." I wanna live in a world where everybody gets to have "white privilege." I mean we'd have to change the name at that point.

The magical power of historical inertia perhaps. And its ok, people can fail to capitalize on their privilege just as some of us succeed in spite of it.

With where I hail from, people are truly as equal as they could be barring a need for a social hierarchy. The only division was by authority. Race, age, gender - none of the go-to issues were in play. We all had the same requirements and duties asked of us; the immaterial concept of "privilege" held no ground there, for which I am thankful. Even before then, when I was young, no one spoke about privilege. Why, one might wonder?

We all lived in the same neighborhood and willingly followed the same social lies. In fact, I never heard the argument of this "privilege" until it confronted me know the internet years ago. It still proves to be some unfounded argument that focuses on division, pitting people against one another, than any forward thinking concept of unity. It asks nothing of equal opportunity and demands "equality" in a nation where all people are afforded that chance.

In brief, I cannot capitalize on something that does not effectively exist, because if it did, why did I not get preferential treatment for all of my "oppression points"? Just being a "white male" has not granted me anything; I earned everything I kept, woe or weal.

If we want to harp on history and how "whites" and "men" in the past had actual power beyond others in a great number of ways, then certainly, that is a valid statement. But that root died a long, long time ago.
