Welcome!
I am putting this interest check here for anyone who wants to join my journey, though this will be a very unique idea for one. The setting isn't super unique, though it focuses on steampunk with fantasy elements and the plot probably isn't uniquely special either (though hopefully still entertaining!)... so what makes this different? Mostly that I will be starting this role-play by myself and be role-playing by myself to begin with. The RP will be open for applications from the very beginning, but whether anyone applies or not will not stop me from telling the story! I'll be posting at least once a week and move on with the plot regardless if others keep up or not - though I will slow down out of respect in most cases, so long as you're not gone for more than a week!
Here is a quick run-down of the setting, before I get the OOC up (things are still being written out however)! The link for the OOC will be here when I'm done: LINK
• Steampunk - Electricity (mostly lights), machines (doors, elevators, simple things), airships are run off of coal gems, special gems that act like coal but last up to 16 times longer. They only require a simple heat source, which can also make them more dangerous.
• Firearms - Simple firearms exist such as flintlock pistols and rifles (though somewhat more accurate than their real life counterparts). For siege purposes, cannons also exist, but are very expensive.
• Golems - Powered by steam and coal gems, they are programmed using circuits while the heat provided produces electricity for them to function.
• Clockwork - Simple clockwork exists in things such as watchs and small toys, usually powered by slivers of coal gems
• Transportation - [Creature Below, Unnamed] are still the main use of transport, though airships are also used as well.
• Swords & Armor - Mostly used in ceremonies or duels more than anything anymore. Since the invention of even simple firearms, blades seem less effective, though bows and arrows still have some use due to accuracy.
• Magic - As far as most people are aware, it does not exist and only lives in fairytales and myths. However it does exist. Avoiding spoilers, once magic is reintroduced, there will be various "sites" in the world that are focused on a singular idea or concept - such as fire for example - that will provide people around it with an affinity for it. Otherwise anyone away from these "sites" during the reintroduction will have access to magic normally (i.e. have to learn it like wizards? There will likely be study or theories from times past that people thought were myths, but realize they are instructions). Magic is used in more traditionally offensive or defensive ways and therefore there is no magical construction of objects or imbuing items with magical energy - it is either used or not.
