Alright, I have decided to play as Central America. Here are my claims (in sky blue). It would basically be what would happen if the United Provinces of Central America didn't dissolved due to civil war. I would need to discuss the relationship between America and the United Provinces with Byrd.

Based on that, I would say unfriendly with the US. A united Central America is a strong Central America, one that could choose to ignore US influence.

Not to mention since before the war the US had strong corporate influence in central America. The Banana Wars weren't for nothing!

I'm open to negotiations with my fellows Austria-Hungary and Germany on the territory, but I didn't infringe on any of their prior holdings, I think.

I haven't done this in a while, but I think I've got a good general vision of what I want to do differently this time.

Despite thinking that stretching out WWI to 1929 is a bit silly for various reasons, I do have some interest. Unsure of who would be interesting to play in this scenario, though.

Dual monarchy of Poland and Ukraine is what I'm thinking along the lines of.

Also, it's no true Poland without Danzig.

You mean Gdańsk (such a heretic). But true. And also a source of contention, unless Germany sees fit to give it back.

Didn't want to go with Poland and Lithuania? Or is that too overused by this point?

I was thinking of playing within the Eastern European region myself.

The Finns assassinated the Tsar, my friend. Poland could only have been independent for 8 years now, and I doubt the Germans could have had anything to do with it.

I suspect that if this is anything like the last RP, there will be commies up that way by Finland. But maybe I'm overly cautious.

nyet to Polish Ukraine fam-a-lam. We're not restarting this to that wild ride right away.

Vilage brought that up privately with me and suggested that 1920 would be better, I sort of ran with the original "le war lasted eleven years longer" proposal from the Googer days and what we operated on (I thought) through old-PoW. I suggested perhaps 1925 would be an alternative because this is PoW and the fucking real world got PoW beat right about now. I also suggested he should post it in the thread for public consideration before I post the actual thread but he never did.

So now that the topic is brought up, here's me putting it out there so we can all discuss it before any serious app-writing is done.

As a consideration too, in some ways any revolution that occurred after (particularly China) could be seen in some ways as an aspect of the original war that stretched out longer into some great long period of war as a result of the Fucked Up War.

Feo/Shyri and I were talking about the Russian situation on Discord, since he was probing for what he could get away with in Russia. The conclusion met in the end is that since I didn't add any date to the Russian collapse that it's relatively new. Regions like Russian-Poland and other ethnically/culturally dominated regions like Crimea (Tatars) or anywhere in the Caucuses might be more capable of forming what would be described as a nation, on the whole the civil war in Russia is pretty new; which also lends into why I'm erring on the side of caution now on a repeat of the Polish-Ukrainian mess; we can kind of sit down and do it "right".

At the same time, given the Polish situation by the time of the First World War and before with so many other entities wanting to cast their chips into the ring for a Polish nation (if anything, Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Russia wanted a Poland that if it existed would be aligned to them) that Poland would probably be a political dueling ground for national interests, never mind the fears someone might end up loosing territory. So in this situation, Poland may not be strong enough to move on anyone and would be at political odds between German and Austrian interests now.

I'm sure I alluded to the Russian situation as it were beginning sometime during the later side of 1955, so it's up to you guys to find the precise year.

I was thinking that pent-up Polish nationalism would have lent itself to a strong rebellious state forming in defiance of German interests, and I wasn't sure how Austria would have held up in light of the problems they continued to have all the way up to WW1 that lead them to the brink of collapse even with the shorter war in reality.

That being said, I'd also see your situation as more plausible and I think I may just go with a simple Ukrainian monarchy in respect of that. Not sure I'd enjoy being ground under rival powers' heels that much, so this is more out of the way.

Nation: The Federal Republic of the Philippines

Leader: Priscilla Aglipay-Rizal

History: The Philippines was colonized by Spain, whose oppression welded together the disaprate peoples of the Islands into one nation, nay, one civilization. When the Philippines rose up in revolt, America then stepped in to help, then betray the rebels and make common cause with the rich landowners to undermine the revolution and set up a new colony that served its interests. That said, there were constructive elements to the US Occupation, such as in education and health care, as well as infrastructure. And credit where credit is due, the US did try and prepare the Philippines for Independence, acknowledging the skills of some of its people. Nevertheless, the Colonial Government's alliance with the rich landowners, who acquired estates larger than major cities under the American's tutelage, led to an unjust economic arrangement.

And when America went into civil war in the 30s, just after the end of the Great War, the people who were discontented with this state of things began to organize, led by one Gregorio Aglipay*, a former Catholic Priest who broke from the Vatican to establish his own Church, the Iglesia Filipina Independente (this was in the 1910s). Aglipay had Socialist and Communist leanings despite the two ideologies' hostility to religion, but rejected them to form his own ideology of 'Anti-Monopolism', which stated that smallholder farmers and networks of small worker-owned businesses were the best organization of society, but that a strong, federally-organized government with a substantial armed force was needed to ensure the destruction of monopolies and the even distribution of largeese. This central government, however, would be elected bottom-up by the people and locally-organized councils.

Aglipay was also a married man (just like in the IRL Timeline, but earlier) due to his Church rejecting clerical celibacy and moving closer to Episcopalian and 'Old Catholic' theology. He had a wife, and through her, a daugther, Priscilla Aglipay, who in turn married one Manuel Rizal (both Priscilla and Manuel did not exist IRL), son of Paciano Rizal, brother of Jose Rizal, the National Hero of the Philippines. Priscilla was a finely educated woman, and also, to her father's surprise, physically strong and naturally assertive. Thus, she had been taken into his confidence and even taught how to use weapons and ride a horse and drive motorcars in her youth, and her new husband encouraged such things. And later on, she and Manuel joined Gregorio in founding the Second Katipunan, or Pangalawang Kataas-taasan, Kagalang-galangang Katipunan (PKKK).

The Second Katipunan was a revolutionary organization founded upon the rules of Anti-Monopolism, which meant overthrowing the landed estates and over-mighty corporations that were supported by the Americans, just as said support was weakening. This organization, founded on a network of cells with strong rules of secrecy, spread like wildfire as the United States withdrew the last of its troops due to its internal conflict. As the landed classes were divided on whether to declare their own 'Republic', seek Japanese 'tutelage', or do both as a protectorate, the Second Katipunan struck in a coordinated revolt. Workers ceased working, soldiers mutinied, and the peasants declared war on their landlords. The rich and powerful tried to resist using mercenary gangs of private militias, but the civil war, though brief and brutal, was won by the PKKK.

But Gregorio Aglipay and Manuel Rizal were not there to see it, having lost their lives in the conflict. Priscilla Aglipay-Rizal, however, did, having found herself the most powerful woman in the Philippines. But instead of setting herself up as a dictator like she could have done, she instead set up free and fair elections that included her last remaining opponents; this enabled her to legitimately win the title of 'Lady President'. She then began the process of dismantling the landed estates, supporting the smallholders left behind, creating networks of worker-owned businesses, and establishing 'necessary' state-owned enterprises in areas where economies of scale were important, such as arms production, mining, and shipbuilding. Not merely that, but she also began establishing fellow Anti-Monopolist movements in other post-colonial nations.

Other: The Philippine Military is made up of a 'regular army' of 40,000 men and women, and reservists and paramilitaries numbering 200,000 men and women (including independent women's units).

The Navy is composed of various ships 'left behind' by the US Asiatic Fleet during the final stages of the American Withdrawal and the Second Philippine Revolution:

- 4 Destroyers and 1 Destroyer Tender
- 9 Submarines (later powered through Ethanol)
- 1 Submarine Tender
- 3 Gunboats
- 2 Tankers
- 1 Tugboat
- 6 Torpedo Boats
