Megana's alarm went of, well it wasn't really a alarm. It was Lucky that jumped on her bed and started to lick her face. Meg sneezed into Lucky's face which was answer with a little bark and a playful growl. ''Yes yes! I am awake.. I knew taking you home was a bad idea'' she said and got a questioning face as answer. The young female looked at the time, it was 8:00 am. ''I knew you would wake me too early, but this means I have more time'' she said and got out of her bed.

Her morning ritual wasn't one that took a lot of time, she got to her kitchen where she made a cup of coffee and grabbed a quick snack for Lucky, which would walk around her and turn around like a puppy and almost make her fall at least four times. ''When are you gonna learn to keep a little distance luck?'' she asked the Stafford and shook her head. While her coffee was cooling down, she would take a quick shower and get dressed in her daily jeans, a simple shirt and of course her woolen vest. Then, while she brushed her hair, she would get a visitor in her bathroom, Lucky, who would sit down and look at her, waiting. She quickly would make a loose bun in her hair and then walk out, again followed by the dog. She got him his breakfast and sipped from her coffee while also eating her own breakfast, which pretty much was some cereal with milk and a apple.

Around 9:30 am, Megana was completely done with everything and she would grab her shoes, a sign for Lucky to grab his harness and put it in front of her feet. Meg laughed and petted the dog. ''Why did they ever abandon you.. You are so great'' she said to the dog which replied with a bark. After putting on her shoes, she grabbed the harness and put it on Lucky. She grabbed the line and her coat, scarf and fingerless gloves, put those on and with a quick check if she had her keys and of course her bag with her lunch and wallet, she walked out of her little apartment and went downstairs to head out towards the shelter.

Mariana slowly opened her eyes letting out a slight groan, it was 8AM and it was her first day of community service she had to do it by her parole officer. She had gotten arrested for drug possession, and trying to sell it, Mariana had a very hard time getting a job anywhere really and no one would hire her that was why she turned to drugs and selling drugs for quick and easy money. As Mariana made her way towards her bathroom she started to get dressed and get ready for her shower. Ten minutes later she had finished her shower and made her way towards her kitchen grabbing some coffee and then a thing of toast.

Taking a moment Mariana leaned against the counter as she turned on the TV as the news started to play going over a random story, which wasn't really interesting to her. Closing her eyes as she took a drink of coffee even though she hated the stuff she needed some kind of energy. Looking down at her phone grumbling slightly to herself she really didn't want to work she'd rather be asleep in her bed the rest of the day.

Looking down at the address that was texted to her by her parole officer to meet her there, she decided to get there early making her way towards her car grabbing her keys and a winter coat she started to drive off towards the animal shelter she was assigned to work for the next several weeks.

Living only two blocks away from the shelter, Megana and Lucky were arriving short after leaving the house. ''Ohh.. I need tea'' Megana said and opened the door with her set of keys. Lucky stepped inside and barked. Megana bended down to undo his leash and shortly after he felt he was free, he ran towards the sofa that stood there in the entrance for people to sit on and jumped on it. Lucky looked at Megana and barked, Megana laughed and shook her head. She was the first to arrive and maybe even the only one for today.

Yet shortly after she arrived, three others came walking in. ''Morning Meg! Morning Luck'' the only male of the three said. ''Morning Daisy, Morning Jenny, Morning Roy'' Megana said and looks they all three headed to the back. Megana smiled, she knew she had desk duty. She mostly had this since a short while because her back was hurting too much if she did too much bending.

Megana walked behind the desk and checked the logbook. ''Oh Lucky, we are gonna have a new friend today, be nice to her okay?'' she said to the dog when she was reading someone named Mariana would come that day. ''I hope she will stay.. We can use the help'' she said and decided to do her first walk towards the employee area where she could grab all the keys she would need that day and get to the cafeteria to make her first cup of tea. She didn't really know why but she never drank coffee at work, only tea. A short ten minutes later she returned to the entrance of the shelter's adoption side and looked at the clock. ''Lucky, it's time'' she said. The stafford looked at Meg and got up from his pillow on the couch and then jumped against the wall, his paw got on a special button and the lights outside got on. ''And we are open for today'' she said and then heard a car outside. Lucky went back to the couch and laid back on his pillow, Megana sat down behind the desk.

As Mariana drove down the road she started to turn on the radio listening to some music while she drove, looking over at her GPS and then her phone as she started to put in the address to the animal shelter that she would be working at. She was slightly dreading having to work with a bunch of animals, she wasn't even sure if she was allergic to them or not. As she listened to some music she stopped at a red light and leaned back in her car seat closing her eyes as she sighed waiting for the early morning traffic. About fifteen minutes later she was there looking over at the animal shelter that was across the street.

Then she jumped slightly when she heard a knock on her windowher parole officer named Jacob was there, hes a nice guy from all her encounters with him so far before being let out of prison. Mariana rolled down the window and gave the man a friendly smile and nod. "Ready Marie?" He asked, he always called her that which irked her a bit and gave a slight eyeroll and nod towards him. "Ready as i'll ever be." Mariana said softly as she got out of her car, and locked it up she stuffed her hands into her pockets and started to follow behind him. "Remember i'm gonna be getting reports from your boss alright so be on your best behavior." He said as they walked up to the door.

"Yeah, yeah I know gramps." Mariana said sarcastically as she walked into the animal shelter, looking over at the dog that was laying on the couch, as the two of them approached Megana. "Morning got you a new volunteer for you." Jacob said gesturing towards Mariana.

Lucky was the first to react on the new people, he tilted his head up and looked at them. His ears were up and he held his head a little to the side, when he saw Jacob, he let out a small grown but Megana quickly snapped her fingers. ''Good morning, sorry.. He has a bad experience with people in uniform...'' She said with a slight smile. She then looked at Mariana with a little smile. ''We were expecting you already, come go to the cafeteria and get us all a cup of coffee.. I mean, I have to fill in some forms.. like insurance so if something happens we can get it fixed or pay for the injury.. Not that that happens often'' she said and looked at lucky.

''Lucky, Desk'' she said after she had gotten away from the desk and stood in the hallway. The brown / white dog got up and jumped on the chair where she had been sitting earlier. Megana smiled. ''Good boy, I'm back soon'' she said, she beckoned the other two to follow her. ''Oh before I forget.. I am Megana Woodland.. But, you can call me Meg.. Or if you insist on formalities, Miss Woodland'' she said with a smile and when they were at the small cafeteria, she walked to the counter. ''Coffee or tea?'' she asked with a sweet smile. Her black curly hair was hanging loose over her shoulders and she had a sweet look in her eyes.

Mariana looked over towards Lucky for a moment raising an eyebrow somewhat as it growled at Officer Jacob, she could like the dog actually if he disliked the police as well. Mariana gently gave the dog a pat on the head before turning her attention towards Megana, eyeing her up and down for a moment. She did look pretty cute, but decided to be quiet about it as she introduced herself. "Mariana, nice to meet you." She said simply before following behind Megana watching as Lucky jumping up onto the chair she had been sitting in.

Mariana followed behind Officer Jacob and Megana towards the cafeteria as she looked around she headed over towards an open chair looking at her for a moment. "I'll have some tea." She said as Jacob kept a close eye on Mariana for the time being, then turning over towards Megana. "Some coffee would be nice. Then we should get things started." He said.

Megana quickly worked the two separate machines to get coffee and tea and smiled while she waited for the water to boil. "Lets see, How long will you stay here again?" She asked, actually directly towards Mariana as she was not going to talk with the officier as if the female wasn't sitting with them. She saw how the officer in the mean time was getting the forms ready which they both had to sign.

When the water boiled, Meg quickly poured some in a mug and placed in on the table, as she bended over she actually couldn't help it that a bit of her cleavage was showing but the female stood straight quite quickly again. "Several tea bags and sugar are inside that wooden box" she said to Mariana and then poured the coffee and grabbed her own, now almost cold coffee and sat down.

Mariana looked towards Megana for a moment as she went to grab some coffee for them, she sat in the chair and eyed Megana's cleavage in front of her when she bent over to hand her the mug. Blushing slightly as she looked towards her parole officer who was still busy searching through and grabbing the papers that she needed to sign along with Megana. When Meg asked how long she was staying Mariana turned her attention back towards her new boss.

"Uhm for however long this lasts or if I cant find another job I guess." Mariana said as she awkwardly rubbed the back of her neck, and met Meg's gaze once more. She was really attractive, but didn't want to actually say it in front of her and him as well, and she was an ex-con now and no one really fell for them either, and she didn't know if the woman rolled that way either.

Megana looked at the female and sure had felt her eyes rest on her own body. She sat down and looked at the other female with a soft smile. ''Hehe, well believe me.. I never left even though I intended to just stay for a month and find a other job in the mean time'' she said and winked at the female. Meg was never one for judging people based on 'records', she was a forgiving person ( Some would say too forgiving ) and had a lot of patience ( also too much too a lot of people ).

The parol officer finally had everything together and laid them on the table. ''At first it will be for two weeks, a trial you could say... After that we of course hope that she served very well and you don't want to let go of her'' he said with a smile. ''If you would sign here and here..'' he said and Meg did do this. She smiled friendly and handed the papers over to Mariana so she could sign them too

Mariana blushed ever so slightly as she tucked a few stray strands of hair away from her face seeing Meg winking at her which made her smile ever so slightly. Maybe working at this place wasn't that bad at all, she was sitting in front of a pretty cute girl, who she was going to be working for her for the next two weeks. When the officer handed Meg the papers watching her sign them then the papers were slid over towards her.

Looking down at the paper, then she started to write down her signature on the dotted line and then slowly slid them back towards her parole officer. Feeling like she just sighed her soul away to this new job Mariana leaned back in the seat the officer gave the two women a friendly smile as he handed off her copy along with Mariana's keeping his own. "I'll leave you two ladies to it then, if theres any trouble with her let me know." He said as he started to turn around and leave the building. "I'd thought he'd never leave." Mariana said jokingly before turning back to look at Megana. "So what do you want me to do first?"

Megana shook the officer his hand and then let him leave. She then looked at Mariana and smiled. ''First, I am gonna give you a set of ear plugs cause you will need those in the first part of the shelter, and then I'll give you a tour.. And after that, we are gonna do the grocery shopping'' she said with a smile and got up from her chair and walked to a little cabinet and opened it. ''Here, try these'' she said and held up a pair of ear plugs. It were standard ear plugs you also got at concerts.

''It might sounds weird but dogs can make really hard sounds, also, if we go trough that door.. Don't give the dogs attention before we went trough the second door.. The first ten are on trial and we need to check them on character and such before we can start training them'' Megana said with a smile and walked over and gave Mariana a pair of ear plugs.

Mariana watched her parole officer turn and leave letting out a soft sigh, she was really glad that he was gone now, her attention went back towards Megana as she got up and went to give her a pair of earplugs raising an eyebrow towards her. She knew that dogs barked a lot, but she wasn't sure why they were needed. "Lead the way boss." Mariana said giving Megana a friendly smiled, as she gave her another quick little check over.

She decided to be quiet, Meg was her boss now after all and Mariana had no intention on going back to jail, she really didn't want to go back there or wear an ugly looking orange jumpsuit shuddering slightly at the thought. Mariana started to follow over towards the door putting the earplugs into her ears.

Meg saw the raised eyebrow and chuckled. ''Believe me.. one or two dogs are okay with barking, but this are two rows with five kennels on each side... So that's ten dogs barking and whining for attention'' she said and then leaded the way to the door and before she opened it to the first part of the kennel, she put in her own ear plugs. Of course she had felt the eyes of the other female on her, but she decided to not say anything about because she didn't know exactly what Mariana thought.

The black haired female then nodded and walked trough the door, even through the ear plugs they could still hear a lot of barking but it was a lot less than without the ear plugs. Once they had entered the kennels, Meg started to walk down the hall of the first kennels and then opened a door. Mariana would see a lot of different dogs in the kennels, each barking and wagging tails in the hope to get some attention. ''Their turn is later today! They all have gone trough the medical tests past week, so after feed and clean time, we will choose a dog and see how he reacts on us when we are alone with that one!!'' Meg shouted over the dog barking and waited for the other female to get to the more quiet part of the shelter.
