@TheRedWatcher Would it be helpful if we went to look for some pictures on our own? I think I have a vague theme established.

You know what. Fuck it. What can it hurt. Would you guys like to make your own decks? And I'll just approve them. Remember the minimum card is 25 and the max is 30 cards.
I'll just help with balancing the decks out. And if anyone like Neo isn't entirely familiar about card games I'll help design that deck.
@TheRedWatcher Understood. I think I'll wait to design mine until I see some other sample decks, though, to get a good idea of the rough level of balancing that's in order. Although, if you already designed some cards for Haku's deck, feel free to send them my way.
Working on my bio now, but I might not finish tonight. Hitting a bit of a snag with the formatting.
Once again, I haven’t done a “card games” RP for a long time—the last time I did one was in 2003 or 2004. So the best option is to do it for me, obviously. I’m great with characterization and introspection, but the mechanics of card games? Ha.
I'll need to see the sample deck first, and perhaps a bit of the game's mechanic, to get the feel of the balance. Since my deck has that 1 foot tall Heavenly Aegis that will screw every opponent's day once it comes to its final form. I have to know a bit so that I won't make him too OP for an OP lategame card.
@TheRedWatcher what would a trap card look like? I'm thinking I want a lot of them since I'm planning to have a cautious play style. Also, will you be making generic cards that can be put into any deck or are the decks going to all be the same theme?
Oh, and how many duplicates of the same card can we have in a deck?

A trap card could be something like making a decoy so if an enemies ability targets another card, spring the trap and the ability targets the decoy instead. <---one of the common pool cards I am making
I am hoping that we can settle everyone down with 25 cards. And I give you guys a pool of more common cards everyone will have and you grab 5 of those.
Pretty much done. Tell me if something's wrong with it.
Name: Yamada Takeshi
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Rank: D
Appearance:
Takeshi has about the average height for a boy his age, being roughly 5'8. His face is somewhat above average, but his most distinct feature is light hair. A bright blond that left many thinking it was dyed. In truth he simply has some measure of european heritage, and many in his mother's line shared the same shade. Surprisingly, he's pretty self-conscious about it. Usually wears casual clothes. He's a bit farsighted so he wears glasses when he's playing.
Personality: Takeshi is something of an oddity among his peers. Considered an airhead by most, he in fact thinks too much most of the time. Takeshi lacks confidence in himself and is something of a sceptic. More often than not, he's left second guessing himself at every turn. He's usually quiet and he tends to like keeping his options open, leading him to be hesitant to commit to anything that doesn't have clear, manageable consequences. He thinks a lot before deciding anything and is prone to worrying, which leads to many people quickly becoming frustrated with him. Still, although he tends to be uncommitted, once he has committed to something he'll follow it through no matter what, and always aims to get the best possible outcome out of the situation. As a side effect of his demeanor he usually never takes anything said at face value, usually expecting some kind of hidden caveat or meaning.
Takeshi gets lost in his thoughts easily in any situation and tends to lose track of his surroundings. Socially, he's often lost in his own little world, though, if he's paying attention, he can be surprisingly observant. All things considered he's pretty awkward, and has difficulties refusing requests from his friends. He finds people other than himself fascinating, and likes spending time with them and their hobbies, and doesn't have many hobbies of his own. Still, the currently popular card game has kept his attention for much longer than most of his hobbies, so perhaps he has finally found something to call his own.
Playstyle: Defensive, in a conservative way. Loathe to use cards in any situation since he might need it later on, the kind of style to hold on to 300 rocket launchers while shooting the final boss with the starting pistol, because the real final boss might be waiting behind it. Wins games by making enemies make mistakes.
Reputation: Takeshi has had a very limited competitive history so he's not exactly well known. Those that are familiar with him know him to be a very frustrating player, to both play against and watch. He often induces impatience in others and wins through wearing their units down with traps. Takeshi himself isn't used to making risky plays himself, however, and sometimes fumbles his advantage trying to drive it home. Generally known as a relatively poor player, but the black card will perhaps be what sets him apart from the rest.
Deck: Necromancy
Leader:
History: Takeshi's life has been mostly unremarkable from the day he was born, although his hair was perhaps a little lighter than the rest of his family. He was fairly reclusive as a child, favoring books over social contact. He had some measure of attention, both good and bad, for the colour of his hair, but anyone that bothered to get that close to him usually ended up frustrated by his tendencies. He managed to make a few friends in time for middle school, though. One of these friends introduced him to World's End. He wasn't that good at it, and he managed to frustrate his friend pretty much every game they played, but for one reason or another he stuck with it. Fast forward a few years and he manages to get a pretty decent deck going. He joined a small local tournament at the behest of his friend, and actually manages to win the whole thing through a combination of beginner's luck and making his opponent so pissed that they attacked every turn and got all of their creatures destroyed by Takeshi's traps. He won a few boosters for his efforts, one of which held a strange black card he had never seen before, and was pretty sure wasn't supposed to be there. He was immediately suspicious. It was fairly powerful and could be slotted into his deck pretty neatly, yet when he looked it up, it didn't seem to exist. He set it aside and tried not to think about it, but it had left its mark on him, and his life would never be the same.
Misc: His family owns a cat. Has a brother and a sister.
Warrior Of The End
In the long, storied past of humanity, there were many figures that could be called legends. Kings, heroes, powerful mages and the like. And yet, there are many that are forgotten, lost throughout the ages. One such legend's footprint marks a minor note in human history, a figure whose name had been forgotten long ago. No record was saved from that era, only word of mouth from the few that survived the times and spread their line. Only those few people knew of this legendary figure, and they knew him only as the dead king.
The legends speak of a land with rich soil and fertile plains, a golden land of opportunity. Many a kingdom attempted to lay claim to it, but they were always crushed by others looking to exploit the natural resources. This all stopped when the ownership of the land was overturned for the last time to a great king, a man who came to be known as the dead king. Cold and calculating, he nevertheless worked for his people. He opposed invading forces with clever tactics, pulling off miraculous victories against superior forcs. The kingdom entered a period of peace for a time, but such prosperity never lasts long. The dead kingdom, as it came to be known, happened to be in between 2 opposing kingdoms. A serious feud eventually escalated into war for those two soverignties, and the dead kingdom was right between them. Rich with resources for the taking, it became an obvious target for the two armies. The dead king employed every tactic at his disposal, but it would never be enough. The two kingdoms had vastly superior number of card fighters, while most of his people were farmers. The two enemies closed in on the small kingdom and made to finish it off for good. But the dead king wouldn't let them go so easily. He had razed the fields and sacrificed towns for a war he didn't want to fight, and he was going to make them pay for it.
The dead king conscripted anyone with an ounce of talent in summoning, even going so far as to release criminals to fight for the kingdom. One such figure, a scarred wanted man, was rumoured to collude with the dead king's fell rituals. But all these measures weren't enough. Soldiers stormed the capital from 2 sides but were met by heavy resistance. Not only from the kingdom's soldiers, but also through cleverly laid traps. The warring nations, however, would not be stopped. The the defenders were killed to a man, and an army eventually stormed the castle.
No one is certain of what happened at this point, but there are plenty of theories. One story stipulates that, when they entered the throne room, they found the king slumped in his throne. The soldiers ran forward to drive a sword through the king's guts, only to find a morbid truth. The king was dead, and had been for some time. The soldiers had captured the castle - a dead, empty castle, devoid of life. The soldiers moved through the throne room, taking whatever they could find while a few stayed to watch the king's corpse. The looters were so enamored with their work that they failed to notice the absence of their friends, until they came back to the throne room. Standing amidst a pile of dried corpses was the king, seemingly risen from the dead. But, that's just one theory of many.
No man that entered that castle that day lived to tell the tale. A mysterious black fog drifted out from the palace and engulfed the capital. Soon enough the black fog lifted and revealed the ruined kingdom. The two nations reentered the dead kingdom to find it burned to the ground, the earth salted so that no man would ever lay claim to it again. The dead kingdom was purged from their annals, although that never stopped the stories and rumours surrounding the dead kingdom, and of what unholy power had purged the armies of two great and proud nations so profoundly.
Alignment: Corrupted
Reputation: An uncompromising and ruthless ruler, the man who came to be known as the dead king lorded over his people with an iron fist. He had a reputation for using black magic and rumours abounded as to what happened to the prisoners in his dungeon, but he was nonetheless a fair ruler, and no trangression to his people went unpunished. He was a vicious tactician and masterful strategist, leading opposing armies into traps and producing miraculous victories against superior numbers, leaving rival kingdoms with both respect and fear for the black-clad overlord. His people flourished under his rule, even while they themselves cowered under his fearsome reputation.
Appearance:
Tall, lean and pale, with long, dark hair, and with eyes a piercing shade of red. The dead king's overbearing appearance did nothing to dissuade rumors of vampirism, although he himself had always denied those accusations.
Skills: Skilled tactician, and commander, able to read the battlefield and take calculated risks. Has confidence that Takeshi severely lacks. Has knowledge of black magic/necromancy rituals, average (for the time) skill with swords.
Is there a reason you are talking to me or is it fashionable for you to waste my time?

With bright magenta colored hair, golden pupils, and a permanent scowl placed on her lips, Mitsuko Saimoto is easy to pick out in a crowd. In terms of her height and weight, Mitsuko sits at a general average height (165 cm) with an athletic build. Beyond her school uniform, Mitsuko prefers to appear presentable and like she means “business”; as such she is rarely seen in anything that her peers would call casual.
P E R S O N A L I T Y
Presented as a difficult young woman who never settles for second best, Mitsuko Saimoto is a tireless and fearless competitor wherever she finds herself. Her fellow classmates consider herself unapproachable, standoffish, insensitive, and hostile, though they recognize that there is a silver lining to Mitsuko’s razor-edged personality and domineering expectations. Mitsuko’s upbringing in her perfectionist and accolade-centric family has bred a young Japanese woman that is fiercely competitive and lacking doubt. If an assignment or project needs to be led, it’s done. If a deadline needs to be met, it’s done. Where other students crack under the pressure Mitsuko seemingly shrugs off the stress and anxiety.
All of this said, Mitsuko is not particularly competent at socialization and interacting with her peers, a reason most find her difficult to deal with. Though this does not mean she is a shy woman who keeps to herself, if she is addressed there is no ignoring it or hiding it; she was raised to attack a situation without reservations and oftentimes Mitsuko views her fellow classmates and acquaintances as challengers and speaks to them in a sardonic or antagonistic manner. This unfriendly way of dealing with people doesn’t lend towards favorable interactions or longstanding friendships.
P L A Y S T Y L E
Mitsuko’s affinity for World’s End is centered on planning, defending, and luring enemies into a situation where she can counter-attack with brutal efficiency; it is one reason why Mitsuko gravitates toward the Guardian set of cards above all else. Mitsuko remains quiet when competing on the “field”, considering her movements carefully as she tries to come up with the best strategy in the short and long form. However, due to this need of concentration she can get distracted by the vocal distractions of her opponents as evident by her battle with Shibata Rinko several months ago.
R E P U T A T I O N
Mitsuko first discovered the game of World’s End when she was starting her second year of senior high school and for the most part was a standout up and coming player that had little interest in socializing or promoting her “brand”. As a self-oriented duelist, Mitsuko kept to herself and performed in competitive matches with efficiency and few words—the direct opposite to her rival, Shibata Rinko. Last year, during the regional tournament this rivalry was heightened when the two met in the semifinals. Most commentators and fans of the sport considered it a surprising match-up and that was before Mitsuko found herself utterly defeated in the face of the self-obsessed “princess”; many believed Mitsuko would be the one facing Koizumi Naoya in the finals, not Shibata Rinko. For the final few minutes of the match Mitsuko sat in silence and shame; Yokohama’s “great talent” had been defeated without effort.

Bred during a time of strife and unease, Senolré inspired her allies and intimidated her enemies with little issue. A skilled duelist, tactician, and combatant whose sole misstep was trusting the wrong people at the wrong time. Prior to her downfall Senolré had garnered a reputation that was beneficial for the growth of her father’s kingdom. As the heir to the throne she found herself an efficient diplomat despite her knack for overzealous responses to those she found abhorrent and despicable, sometimes without just cause. On the field of battle she was known for building strong lines of defense before leading her enemies into choke points or manipulating their weak points in their formations. Prior to her brother’s death he had remarked that she was “aggressively defensive”.
A P P E A R A N C E
During her time, Senolré was believed to be quite beautiful despite her martial background and unflinching doubt that any suitor could be a proper match for her hand. Senolré had picturesque blonde hair, cerulean irises, and a light complexion that had few defining scars or blemishes. Her hair was often put up in a traditional braid and her dress was always accompanied with battle armaments. In comparison to Mitsuko she was taller and brawnier, standing at 171 centimeters with a posture befit of a princess and battle maiden.
I'll pass on my own deck. but hey i can give it a shot, but i think a more, less serious characters would be required for this but wouldnt you want to make the OOC first before we go into character sheets? i mean this is still interest check right?
So if y'all were curious as to what my character was...
Name Tamatsu Eimin
Age 16
Gender Female
Rank D
Appearance
Tamatsu is fairly short and frail, standing at 1m52. It often looks like her eyes are unfocused and the girl just stares off in the distance, lost in thought. The girl also likes to dress in thick, warm clothes when outside of her school, even in the middle of summer. Heat doesn't seem to bother her, but even mildly cold weather bites through her like a termite through wood. Tamatsu's plain appearance makes it so people easily forget her, as it seems as if she isn't even there most of the time. Her voice is fairly subdued and quiet, making her stand out even less.
Personality Tamatsu is meek and quiet, preferring to keep to herself and watch others from a distance. She isn't one to go out and make friends and it takes a bit of effort to get her to open up to you. The girl hates pushy people as they make her feel uncomfortable, but her shy and non-threatening demeanor makes her unable to tell anyone off when they're upsetting her. Tamatsu would sooner let herself feel bad than accidentally hurt someone else's feelings. She prefers peaceful, quiet places and doesn't like staying home. Tamatsu much prefers going to the library to read or to the park to relax, but always by herself.
Tamatsu also absolutely hates swimming and cold water, it makes her feel like she's choking and unable to get any air into her lungs. Whenever the school does any swimming activities she absolutely refuses to take part, and this stubbornness carries over into anything else she doesn't or wouldn't like. The girl often refuses to try new things because they seem scary to her.
Playstyle Tamatsu hasn't been playing World End for very long. The deck she currently has focuses on manipulating the abyss, but she isn't very good at the game yet.
Reputation Tamatsu is completely unknown, being a complete newcomer to the scene.

Leader
History Tamatsu had always been a plain, average girl. She was born an only child to a happy couple, although she never got to see her father much because of the office job he had. In grade school she wasn't as quiet as now, as the girl happily played with the other kids. She never got into too much trouble and always stayed polite to the adults, even getting praised for her good behavior. She wasn't quite the 'smart' kid, but her grades never got bad either. She was just... average in every sense.
This didn't change much when she got to middle and high school. She still behaved and paid attention, although she had gotten a lot more quiet. Being in a new environment caused her to lose all of the friends she made in grade school and the girl couldn't muster up the courage to approach people and make some herself. So, she faded into obscurity. Nobody really knew Tamatsu or made an attempt to get to know her, she just kept to herself and found a nice, quiet place each lunch break. Because of her lack of friends she turned even more shy and socially awkward, until eventually people would start forgetting she was even around. It was almost as if she had become a ghost with how little people paid attention to her.
Despite how ordinary she was, Tamatsu developed a condition where her body temperature became unnatural. It had become colder than the average human's, though she was still able to function normally. It's why she dressed warmly whenever she could, to hold onto what little heat her body still gave off.

Warrior of End: Vanth
Vanth grew up in a tower of wizards, learning how to control his magical power and use it responsibly. He was a prodigy in every sense, which made him arrogant. He did not want the limits that the elders placed on his magic or let his power be tempered, Vanth wanted it to be free and wild. One day Vanth managed to steal a knife from the kitchen, which allowed him to carve runes into his body to remove the hexes that the elders had placed on him. By the time anyone had realized a knife had gone missing, Vanth's blood has already soaked the floor of his room. The teenage boy had bust through the wall of his room and conjured up a gale to carry him down to the ground, rocking the tower as he did. This was how Vanth escaped from his shackles and fled further into the land, free to explore his talents at his own leisure.
At some point, Vanth became obsessed with eternal life. He wanted an eternity to perfect his magic, to cause raging storms and calm them with the snap of a finger, to conjure up an army of demons without so much as breaking a sweat. He started kidnapping young women, chaining them up and carving into them similar markings to which he had. He experimented on them, learned what combinations made people live and which made people die. People started catching on that it was the work of a serial-killing mage once the bodies, found in the strangest of hideouts, all showed the same signs of abuse.
It didn't mean that people knew it was the escaped mage Vanth, though. He had been able to flee far and his face was not recognized anywhere, but as his own scars became more extreme, rumors started to spread of a marked man bringing misfortune. It wasn't long until people everywhere had heard of Vanth, even if they did not know his name. He had to start fighting back against the soldiers that came looking for him, summoning monsters and fleeing every time they got close.
At one point, Vanth found himself in the lands of the man who ruled with an Iron fist, the one who later came to be known as the Dead King. Vanth underestimated this man and got himself caught, but was surprised when he was lead into the king's court and let free. Apparently the king had a little 'hobby' of necromancy, and since Vanth was about as unholy as mages got, the king decided to enlist his help. In exchange, he offered protection from the outside hunt and allowed Vanth to continue his own research, with some restrictions on his practices. Vanth agreed, not like he had much of a choice, and the two became allies to each other.
Vanth and the Dead King worked together to burn the lands of the country, utterly wrecking it so nobody would ever dare set foot into it again. This meant an end to Vanth's protection, however, so he no longer had a need for the Dead King. The mage had already prepared a seal and was about to cast it while his 'ally' was none the wiser, but it didn't quite go as hoped. The Dead King had already had a nagging feeling Vanth would betray him, so they attacked the mage and wounded them pretty badly. Vanth still managed to seal the king as one of the World End cards, however and threw it away out of spite. Vanth's business in the lands was done and the biggest threat to come from it was dealt with.
However, the mage's luck ran out when an extremely talented knight managed to corner him in those lands, after having driven Vanth back into them. Weakened from his bout with the king, Vanth did not have many options left available to him. Vanth laughed when he was caught, screaming that he had already unlocked the secret to eternal life. After all, he had just witnessed it with the Dead King! As the knight's sword plunged through Vanth's stomach, he mouthed his last words before his body died:
"My spirit... is eternal!"
What the Knight didn't know as Vanth's cold body dropped dead is that the mage had cast a spell to forever bind his spirit to his remains. The leftover magic in the land of the dead made Vanth able to have one last hurrah, but it would take time to settle. The knight thought he was dead, however, and decided to burn Vanth's body. It didn't stop the spell. Vanth revived, but only his bones remained. Tied together by magic, Vanth was infuriated. This was not the eternal life he wished for! But now, unrestrained by a mortal body, Vanth had become all-powerful. His unholy magic was second to none as his limits were unshackled, and he became an even bigger terror to everyone in the ancient world.
It was then that Vanth's story came to an unfortunate halt, as a holy man blessed by the gods stepped forth. They challenged the all-powerful lich known as Vanth. The lich didn't know that the knight's holy power was even stronger than his own unholy body, and so Vanth's power was slowly being drained. Vanth refused to give up, however. In one last effort, absolutely refusing to let his spirit leave this world, he did the same to himself as he had done to the Dead King: Seal himself. Vanth bound his skeletal body to a single black card, vowing to return in the future within another person's body.
Corrupted
Reputation Vanth's reputation varied on who the targeted audience was. Regular folk feared him, thinking the carvings were proof he was some kind of demon coming to drag them to the underworld. Kings and knights around the world considered him a notorious criminal and wanted nothing more than to see him dead. However, there was a very small group of people that looked up to and respected him, even long after his death. They were cultists and fledgling mages who wanted to tap into Vanth's vast knowledge and mastery of offensive magic, uncaring of the lengths he went to in order to achieve that.
Appearance
When posing as Tamatsu, Vanth appears a lot more confident and sly. Tamatsu doesn't speak in a hushed tone anymore when Vanth takes her form. She suddenly has a much more imposing presence, piercing through her opponent with her gaze.
Vanth himself is a scarred individual, carvings covering him from head to toe to show his dangerous exploits in magic. His original body is extremely tall and slightly malnourished. He often wore robes to hide his many scars, even though he could never hide the ones he inflicted on his face. The ornaments he wore were all imbued with even more of his magical power. The horns on his head were the result of the demonic runes he carved into his body, showing how little care he had for the consequences of his actions.
