Whittier, Alaska, is a sleepy town tucked between picturesque mountains, frigid sea, and plenty of forest. But if you're picturing a small huddle of houses, think again. Instead, on the edge of town, there stands a 14-story building called The Begich Towers- a former army barracks, resembling an aging hotel, where all of the town's residents live.

Finding your way to the remote town isn't very easy, and it’s even harder to find your way out. You can get to Whittier by sea or take an often closed, one-lane tunnel through the mountains. This is why residents inside Begich Towers have everything they need under one roof.

With the annual 30 days of night quickly approaching, the residents of Whittier are going about their appropriate preparations for a month long of darkness. However this year happens to be very different than the rest.

During this year’s “lights out” monsters within people come to surface. Your parents, your significant other, even your own children could have hidden monsters within them. It would only be revealed during this time. Along with the residents, outside forces of evil seem to flock to the towers during this event.

Hey everyone, this is an old idea of mine based off a real place! I'm looking for a group of dedicated people

I'm thinking I want about 5-6 people interested before I get to work on the OOC and the NPCS. Does anyone have any thoughts of what they want these monsters to be? I kind of thought maybe something along the lines of wendigos type creatures? Or perhaps vampires? Zombies? Any thoughts?

I usually don't go for vampires, but they fit this environment really well. Have you ever seen the movie 30 Days of Night? It's about vampires invading a small Alaskan town during the 30-day darkness, where nobody can call for help and they can hunt 24/7. With no sunlight to worry about, and in such an enclosed space, vampires could be pretty scary.

I'm definitely up for something a bit more original than good old fashioned vampires, though as long as they're not completely textbook or completely sparkly, they would work well here. The idea of a Wendigo is more interesting on a moral and cultural level (though it really belongs to a different reasonable set of native beliefs). There's also the related Wechuge, which is slightly more geographically appropriate and may be worth checking out.

In general, I like the idea of the threat being something a bit insidious and of it potentially being able to disappear within the host or go back into hiding when all is said and done. On the one hand, it could lead to a sort of 'witch hunt' situation, but on the other, it gives people some hope and maybe makes them hesitate a bit before just blowing monsters to smithereens.

Hey, I'm totally digging this. Count me in.

After doing some research, I'm really digging the idea of the Wendigo as the mythical beast. It feels like a slightly more unique approach, fits the wintry theme, adds an element of judgement and morality to the RPG, and Wendigoag are just wickedly creepy on top of it all.

Hey guys! I've not been home for the last few days so I haven't had the chance to get on!
I apologize in advance- but i'm still very much here and still very much working on things in my head.
I won't be home officially until next Sunday-BUT I can try to manage an OOC/Character sheet from my phone atleast on Wednesday night.
