If this is still active I'd like to apply with a custom race. If aDm would kindly contact me I would be very grateful

To my knowledge, it's merely going slower right now.

I'm not a DM, but I for one would like to know why you want to play a "custom race" as opposed to one of the existing ones. And, perhaps, what kind of character you were hoping to make.

@Spirit @Rune_Alchemist

Now for the formatting tip of the day: If you look at the @ button in the reply box, you can plug in the username of the person you want to get the attention of - say, one of the GMs listed at the top of the page and with little GM corner things on the top right of their posts.

It's an advanced race I made using the Pathfinder race building guide. They come with 2 natural weapons and a small regeneration based off of thier Constitution score and nutrient supply. I'm hoping to combine that with a psion class for this game if I'm allowed.@Spirit

...y'know, to be fully honest, psions have never actually come up in our discussions of his Lore. And to be clear, I'm talking about my personal discussions with the man here, not the stuff on this thread (though technically those overlap).

Be that uncertain status as it may, I'm a little curious as to what you mean by "natural weapons." Like along the lines of 'poisonous blood', or like 'able to wield swords and axes?' Also, note that this RP doesn't deal so much in 'hard stats' so much as 'general estimates.' For instance, my PC's mental fortitude is most likely to be matched or bested by Rune's, but my same PC's mental fortitude is higher than Kyvir's. [In other words, I can mind screw with the Teifling, but the High Elf is probably going to No Sell it and kick my PC's ass.]

Tl;dr, we don't do dice rolls.

...at least, to my knowledge it's not really required for the most part, if ever.

The natural weapons are basically the wings from Tokyo ghoul and the tendrils the main dude has. Each deal 1d6 + dex and the wings can cause bleeding and pinned. I don't plan on fighting PC's though as the whole "my character is better than yours" never stops in those kind of fights

Ok, so hey bud im the Gm. So we're gonna talk this one out real fast and you are more than welcome to PM me anytime!

I admit the rp is going slower lately, but I think that's just because I underestimated how hard it would be to interact with such a large group as one pivotal force. I have to wait on like 6 people before I act and that can be hard. I didn't anticipate the speed to drop. But once this teacher intro is done and I've established who you go to for what, then we're back to the way the rp was at first where you the players openly wander the Arcanium itself and talk to me for advice and information or character interaction with teachers.

Now as for Psionics, yeah MMM is right. I never brought them up in our conversations about the extended lore simply because the way that the world is set up, there are no psions. There are things that can be made into Psion LIKE things. Such as a magical human humunculus or something. But you would have to detail what you want to do with it. My lore in this rp is not strict as there is a handful of stuff I have to be flexible in allowing to be winged. But the comment on the Tokyo Ghoul thing is concerning and I would like you to elaborate on the concepts and abilities of this custom race. I like to think I'm an approachable DM and I like to meet my players half way on things but you have to be open to my reviews and suggestions.

I'm happy you're interested, we'd love to include you!

@Spirit Hate to make you rewrite your post, but I had dashed out a post about Silias getting to class somewhere about a week ago. Check page 4 of the IC near the bottom of the page.

EDIT: Holy crap, that was almost two weeks ago. I'm losing my grip on how much time is passing.

Hue, this looks like fun... A question before I proceed however:

Are half-Orc or full orcs available as a race? If so but if you want to know why such a creature would want to go to a wizard school, I can make up various reasons from “This is my form of rebellion against my family” to “My people just don’t have any issues with magic or others, figured this was a good place to branch out”.

If this is quasi DnD what edition are we sorta based off of? I’m familiar with 5e though I prefer 3.5 or Pathfinder.

And do we have to be wizards or can we be most types of casters? I was thinking something of a Pathfinder (DnD3.75) Half-Orc Skald (Bard-Barian basically) who isn’t so much specializing in any one spell as much as specializing in the act of making magic stuff (I’d assume that would generally fall under Transmutation).

YAY NEW PERSON! Hey im the Dm, to answer your first question yes Orcs are totally a thing that you can be. The reason I didn't list it, and a follow up to your second question actually, is because im my lore and world building I just simply haven't gotten to build that society in my world yet. I have recently decided I wanted them down in the south of the continent with the tribal human races to serve as a sort of political parallel interest for that part of the world but the truth is I just haven't gotten around to much more than they are there.

As for why that answers your second question, while yes my lore is made in dnd, this is Roleplay forum, and so we don't roll dice. My world is being built around 5e, but the thing is that since we don't need to use ANY systems and my setting is one of my own invention, it serves as more of a framing device for the world we play in.

If you are interested in jumping in please feel free to talk it out with me for your magical tastes, but since the orc race is widely unexplored by myself right now I will allow you to mold your own story for them since they are widely detached from the European style fantasy continent.

Tl:Dr,

I make my lore in 5th edition dnd and the rp is loosely using the magic and race options from the 5th edition of dnd. BUT you don't have to follow it religiously nor does anyone else.

Orcs are a thing, but are largely blank slate in my lore atm, however part of this rp is helping me explore my own world as well.

Current Native Orcs are generally Shamanistic and warlock style wizards but I am very lax with what you WANT to be, you don't have to be a shaman or a warlock its up to you, it's just more of a cultural favoritism due to the development of the society in the south continent.

If you want to talk it out, talk to me and talk with your fellow players. You are welcome here and I would love to have you here!

Again, yes you can be an orc. Granted you'd be an outlander in this particular setting. But I love odd one outs in rp settings so I encourage embracing being seen as especially unusual. Makes you more interesting IMO.

Cool. I have a few ideas in my head about how this can work out, lemme make ye a CS first and see were all the pieces fall. Right now I have it in my head that my orcs are a cross of two things: The hardcore "traditionalist" who are shaman like with very strong animalistic culture, and the other which is essentially industrial age communist Russia. Like they use magic too, but in the collective advancement of society rather than individualistic aspiration (Of course this is also done with many, many slaves and dead bodies). I wanted my orc to kinda be caught between the worlds of "Traditional and strong, but also very outdated" as well as "Progressive and accepting, but without morals".

Plus this is also something I feel that could be best explored IC rather than OoC where no one may care to know, or in the hands of those who have no reason to know aside from the implication that they're smart and would use the lore as a mere tool to measure their intelligence.

@Lucius Cypher

You know you kinda hit their culture on the nose, they do have that traditional shaman of the earth kind of attitude and they DO have a tribalistic you look after your own mentality. The will to advance is actually very interesting and a very unique pitch. I'll see what you do with it, read, think it over and guide whatever I feel doesn't fit into a direction so it'll come out a perfect fit to a void that is in this world. Just remember to stay medieval and no like industrial age tech and stuff. When you say a strong drive to advance I think like Middle Earth orcs. I look forward to seeing what you see in your mind.

Something like that. I was actually thinking something akin to the Qunari from Dragon Age (Though admittedly I only have second-hand knowledge of what they're capable of).

Oh, and another thing to note: my character is one of the many sons of an Emperor in these orcish lands. While their nation controls a notable amount of the orcish lands, they don't control all of them and the whole "Traditional" vs "Progressive" faction has so far staunched their growing conquest of the other southern lands.

Anyways... Here's my character.

This is well thought out, not too overpowered and very bare bones as far as some of the things I've seen pitched. If I am reading this correctly he is primarily an Transmutation mage first, and a basic enchanter specialist second? Basic as in method, the normal method of enchanting. I ask because in the story so far I have established 3 methods of enchanting and all work to make flaming swords and the like. These methods are rune inscribing, basic magic imprinting (The method of imbuing an item with a spell's properties), and the third method being Master Rovi's method which I am about to do a reveal on soon. The Orcs having their own method unique to them would believe it or not be justified so if you want to describe a unique method of enchanting in detail for the orc tribes then now would be the time to clarify.

The other thing I want you to be 100% on is that the Orcs come from a southern continent, not a country on this particular one. My world is set up similarly to the real world in the sense that cultures and races developed over the course of centuries and their appearances are heavily influenced by WHERE they are in the world. That being said I wanted to capture the classic European fantasy setting of D&D as the main continent that my campaigns would focus on, so that became the "Main continent." But I began to develop more and more, and I never could find a good home for the orcs until I realized the southern continent that are going to be ancient south american and ancient African inspired in their civilizations needed more conflict in their territories. So Orcs found a home there to help promote the fierce warrior cultures I wanted to capture. So in the southern continent it's very Savannah and mountainous as it's along my world's equator with another desert, that's really all I have developed but I will show you where the southern and northern continents have a land bridge in the next post. It is the ONLY land bridge, connecting the north and south and is in itself a trial to cross being the Sands of the Evershift, the Desert of Hag'dvad where only the cunning can survive. That being said there are a few trade port cities on the southern continent which is likely how most of them get form the south to the north and vice versa, but that's why at least for now Orcs are uncommon in the north with some minor exceptions. That's really just a base until my tabletop players can act to influence the growth of the world I built.

I highlight all of that in case you skip it cause I explained all of this for one reason, you would come from a entirely seperate main land, and I want to be sure you know that because you will be unusual to a lot of people that don't know much about the world outside of their own territories. Sure there is a few tribes of Orcs that pillage and plunder in the north as orcs do, but they aren't as civilized or large scale as where you would hail from. Basically, you're a citizen, the northern continent Orcs are barbarians. They do the stereotypical orc stuff but your orcs are more of a social structure with rules. Basically this knowledge is just for you to pick where you come from on the map more accurately, I'll show you the map of the Evershift and point out what I mean by two landmasses.

Ok that's enough of me explaining lore accuracy now back to the matter at hand. I like this character! I think it's pretty cool and balanced. I approve it you may move it to the Characters section. Now, I have to ask, does he really wear that mask?

Ok so my friend actually told me I can post in discord and use the discord link there to use as a method of getting an image onto the forum so, Thank You for that @MadManMoon!

Ok so this is the visual for the map of The Evershift, the Desert of Hag'dvad. It is a scarcely populated area with scorching heats and deadly foes. This is the only way to walk from the north to the south. You have to get a boat to do it otherwise. But since it's at this point the land becomes infertile and the food becomes more scarce as well, the people of these areas took to nomadic survival. The Nomads of the Evershift however are unique because they don't have a formal civilization. On the southern continent there are the Orcs and A tribe of humans, as well as a few more races that I haven't gotten to implement yet since I have to build this world brick by brick as they say and the main continent isn't fully mapped yet either. So for now the southern continent is in the alpha planning stages while I map the written info of the north. It's a slow process especially since I have to use my writing inspiration effectively and that means rp'ing or making more content for my lore. I haven't really smoothed out the edges or made the design of the southern continent yet. That's why as of now you have full free range to design your Orc culture. I wouldn't retcon you in the rp though I already came to terms with the fact there are two continuities to my world right now being the tabletop canon and the rp canon, this forum falling into the latter of the two.

I could sit here and talk about my lore for DAYS but I got to do some writing for a new concept I haven't implemented in yet and am rather excited about at the moment. The Underdark, which is rather easy to adapt into my lore than I thought. The only issue I'm running into is like, Dark elves in base D&D come from the Underdark, but in my lore Dark elves and Drow are two separate races that came from an ancient Elven war and being off shoots of "Elf" or in my lore now refereed to as "High Elf" and the classic wood ranger druid elves are the "Wood Elves". I figured out how to GET civilizations into my lore's Underdark, but since elves are the way they are I need a brand new elf to design for the Underdark explicitly. If you want to know more about WHY elves are so complicated and vast, please consult your local ancient wizards.

But yeah a whole new continent where I get to use monstrosities without trampling my established lore sign me up. So I'm working on that for now and plan to finish up the history of the Evershift after I explain that in my notes, then I'm proceeding to the glacial north and the Viking/Arthurian Kingdom of that territory. Then, once I established here's the lowest point and the highest point of this landmass, I plan to fill in the middle with all the territories I had explained in my writing to this point including the Forest of Heria, the Dark Elf Kingdom, the Forest of Lies, the High Elf Cities, The two Dwarven kingdoms, The port city that contains the Arcanium, and then finally on my to do list The Deadlands. Then there's the wilderness, and then I can do the southern continent.

Lot of work to be done. I hope when I sit down for my first session in this lore it will be an exciting place to explore the same way your characters would have to from level 1.
