I noticed LordLinguinie used the term, battalion in defining the military organization Lord Lashton is going to lead on his campaign/raid/attack or whatever you want to call it. What's nice about the word is it allows the organization's strength to remain undefined. A battalion could number anywhere from a few hundred to just over a thousand. I thought I would throw a company-sized element of light cavalry (lancers) for good measure. Nice to have some eyes to look at a distance or to weight an attack; break up an enemy formation.

Sometimes it is best to leave the numbers grey.

Put out scouts about 1-3 Km in front of the Vanguard/Main Body. Put scouts out on the flanks as well. About 10 horses in each detachment. If they detect anything, they do not stand and fight, they return to you and tell you what they find. This way, you do not get surprised. Leave a small detachment in the rear to act as a rear guard. Maybe the remainder of the horse. Use your squires, son and other knights in your party as runners to pass information back and forth while coordinating a fight.

Advice and ideas please. What exactly does an unmarried fifteen year old noble girl do when everyone in the household runs off to fight a battle outside the gate? I'm assuming she takes the servants, septa, children, and elderly to a 'safe place' and makes sure no one freaks out? Or does she just kind of idk stand in the great hall looking worried?

Women can also help with the infirmary, there are bound to be some wounded. And gather the families in the keep like cersei did in the battle of the blackwater.

Tyrion is coming too so they need to set up the feast and make sure everything is presentable like when robert came to the north in the first episode.

The lady of the house is also running things now so she needs to deal with the daily things the lord is usually responsible for.

Yoy can also talk to hannibal about being with the forward camp if there isnt much opportunity to help the lady, if the lord would let his daughter so close.

There are many pages of George Martin's books devote to the head of house or Hand to the King sitting in a lofty chair dispensing with edicts, fines, punishments or compensation to those peasants and others who come to the local castle to receive justice or assistance in some matter. It is very similar to a judge in court. A few of the incidents are clues about the over arcing plot of the story, but much of it is simply mundane to catch a glimpse of what goes on at court.

I'll have my next post up tomorrow. Thanks for the help ya'll. Still kind of lost on what Stelsa should be doing. She's not an Army nurse like Talisa Maegyr sooo... She doesn't fight like Brienne or Arya. She is not the lady of the house officially any more, that would be Madeline. She hasn't been in this situation before. If I'd given her a different personality then I could do the whole young Sansa crying scared hiding thing, but thats not Stelsa. I've come to ask myself what would a hybrid of Shireen/Marjorie/pre-Kahleesi Dany/average noble girl do?

EDIT:: As you can see that promised post didn't happen. Writers block has taken over....

@Gunther Are you going to go over the tactics and formations of the troops or can I do that. I don't want to contradict what you have in your post and such.

@LordLinguinie Essentially, all I have done is to place a small detachment, called a vedette of six or seven horseman to Kayne's front and another similarly sized element to his flank. The vedette on the flank is about a kilometer away. The vedette to his front will fluctuate over time and terrain between one and three kilometers. Their purpose is to prevent your main body of infantry; spearmen, swordsmen, archers or what have you. You can design your force as you see fit. Organize them however you like. The Cavalry is simply there to protect your main body from being surprised. If something should happen, Radford and/or Cedric will send a rider back to let you know what they see.

Radford birds name is Pecker. Hahahaha I'm dying!

“Yea, little Pecker, you will ride into battle with me, won’t you boy?”

This is the funniest thing I've read all week! You are a genius @Gunther
---------
EDIT:: I realize I have a dirty mind, and woodpecker, or bird beak should have been what I associate the Birds name with, but I automatically just thought Penis....
