It all comes off in tone right. Yes in this chat the tone was negative against click bait.

And you are also negative against clickbait?

Of course, in the sense that the content is not the content that was suggested by the name.

Yeah, that's definitely the number one sense of clickbait.

Like a lot of words it changes over time to have another meaning.

Like:

Clickbait is using common or overused phrases in order to gain more attention to a story. That story could be true based on the title but the fact that it used common or overused phrases, makes people call it click bait.

Despite my earlier posts, agreeing with what the other guy said. I don't particularly have anything against clickbait.

If it gets you attention and helps out your stuff I'm fine with doing that.

You are not selling something for money, you are only asking someone to read some made up fiction.

Are you still against clickbait?

I dunno how deep we're getting, but if it's a thread with a title that leads me to assume the contents are not well connected with the title, then I simply write off the thread and possibly the roleplayer.

Otherwise, it doesn't really matter to me.

In the original context of "omg look old stuff WITH A TWIST" then it depends on the person posting that, the wording used and even then, probably the content.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Good thing we have no obligation to roleplay with each other, I suppose.

You won't kill me by going into details. If you have bones with me, might as well let 'em out, eh?

It is the bitching thread, after all...

@ArenaSnow

Ok, I'll talk more I guess.

I wasn't really into depth when I mentioned clickbait.

It's only people who want to grab a person's attention with their title, so that they can have traffic to their story idea.

you mentioned:

a thread with a title that leads me to assume the contents are not well connected with the title.

I don't know how to know that.

Poor wording on my part.

It was intended to be more like this:

<interesting title about fantasy world with killer ponies> (humor me)

<click into thread>

<thread has typical fantasy world where people eat oranges>

<??? where's my ponies>

<oh, the ponies don't matter, but please, take these ora->

<goodbye>

why? why would people waste their own time to write stuff like that, much less everyone elses.....

Ok, you are right.

I don't like click bait.

What grinds my gears are minimum effort interest checks. Usually these are fandom ones, where they take a well known title and try to lure people in to make their RP for them.

For example;

TITLE: Naruto RP?

OP: So i felt liek making a naruto rp but i dont have any ideas for a plot pls help lol

They can be of varying quality, but they universally share the same premise of offering nothing but still expecting to build a community.

@Avant The gear-grinding is real. I, being as demanding as I am with partner prospecting, pretty much write off an int check if all it has is fandom or pairing lists. Give me plots, give me character profiles, give me something to work with that I can get interested in and invested into!

When an RP you joined gather a heap of interest, but when the IC starts and you make your first submission... There's no commitment from other players.

Meh,
I can live with it. Unless if it's 1x1 it really doesn't matter in my book

My style of posting makes timezones just about irrelevant for roleplay, but yes, they can be nasty sometimes. Especially when you want to schedule something live >.>

Here, the thing. Most of my current roleplays are 1 on 1.

I think I'm done applying for RPs. One failed launch after another. I'll just ride out the precious two active ones and call it a day... or a guild as it were in this case *tired*
