Name: Gideon Balmont 'the Broken' as he's been titled recently.
Age: 38
Height: Six feet, four inches
Gender: Male
Noble Virtue: Shield of Camelot (Cast away.)
Gideon was a fierce protector, an odd knight that chose to use a large tower shield, a sign of his vow to protect his commander, his family, and his people. Since the fall though, this virtue appears diminished.
Knight Archtype: Deulist - Gideon was previously known to wield his great tower shield, however he no longer does so. Instead he holds only a longsword, under the premise of the best defense is a good offense. He focuses on parrying blows with great precision, and often strikes his opponents and grabs with a free hand.

He's always been a content man, his posting as a knight kept him happy, he did his work, and went home to his kin in before, never have ambitions above protecting his city. This at least, is what many of the younger men that were under him say.
Today, Gideon is a quiet, brooding man. His signature shield has been cast away, leaving concerned men to think he's trying to die, but if he is he won't say. Orders aren't questioned from this older fellow, he just reads, drinks, and doesnwhat he's told until the next fight. Sometimes he can be gruff, and rude, but some of the men say he does it in their best interest, even if he goes too far.

Background: Gideon was raised with low nobility, his father a landless knight, but a skilled swordsman. He wasn't raised as a lord among villagers, just a boy in the countryside with no siblings and few friends. It was fine for a content oerson like himself, he spent time honing his skills, reading, and listening to old war stories until he was old enough to be sent off to a noble court.
The boy lacke any outstanding charisma, though he was a brawny, and as he was jokingly told to take up a heavy tower shield, he toted it with relative ease, and proved rather proficient with the device. Gideon was a dedicated defender, tiring his opponents out with careful deflections and hard swings from the heavy steel. This won him many small tournaments throughout the land, and most of his young life was spent riding across the country.
When Gideon was twenty-three, he met Mary, the youngest daughter of a court that he'd happened by in his travels. His marriage was sealed when he decided to make a bet, one of which many said was out of his character. In a bold moment, as she handed him a scarf to wear into battle in her name, he wrapped it around his forearm and set aside his shield.
"The heart can be as good a shield as the thickest steel." He professed, winning the tournament with only a longsword, under the terms that if he could do so, the lord would offer his daughters hand. The two were swept quickly back to camelot, where Gideon would balance life as a guard captain and father to his two sons...
As the collapse of camelot came, Gideon stood on the ramparts as the enemy lay waste to everything he swore to protect. Knights of the round stood against eachother, brothers killing brothers in the name of nothing. As part of the search party, Gideon accompanied Sir Bedivere to find his comrade, going into the unknown.
The man who returned was a broken one, it's an unspoken rule that nobody was to speak of it, but soldiers whisper...
"There was just blood, everywhere. His armor was shredded, like he got mauled by a bear. He was holding the grip to his shield like his life depended on it, but there wasn't any shield there, just the leather. And his eye? Gah- looked like it was scraped out with a hot fire poker. Didn't speak a word, we thought they might'a cut out his tongue too."Gideon remained in a medical tent for weeks, staring blankly in front of him most days. He waited for news that never came, that they found his family among the ones who escaped the attacks, but it was the not being sure that got to him. The older man remained firm as he moped through the camp, his eyes hardened with some determination.
However, it was noted that as the abomination of Sir Bedivere was brought to the camp, the knight trembled for the first time...
