October 29th, 2018 - 1:35 pm | Justice League Headquarters - Metro Tower

Before the young Russian hero could get his answer, the Flash had burst into a trail of lightning and bolted out of the Tower. He presumably got a call back in Central City, but who knew for sure. The silence was broken however when James Barr walked by the Monitor Room. Months earlier the Bulleteer had lost his Nth metal helmet to the Secret Society and was severely injured and taken off of the active roster. He was a bit of a home body now, staying in the Tower and acting as a maintenance man of sorts after problems days earlier with the power generators.

“Hey kid, let me know if you need anything. It looks like your deputy took off for the night or something. Has Wildcat checked in since hitting Star City?” James asked in passing.

When Red Star didn’t answer and the ball stopping popping the seasoned hero knew something might be up and did a double check. He ran back over to the monitor station and pulled up a couple of screens. Something was messing with the heroes in Star City’s com-links.

“I think you better go suit up. Wildcat and Fire are both unresponsive and news footage hasn’t reported anything about the incident being over. I’m gonna see if I can find any other recruits to send out there…” the former Bulleteer instructed being the hero’s senior ranking Leaguer.

S T A R C I T Y:

October 29th, 2018 - 11:40 am | Downtown - Smoak Technologies Building

Wildcat and Fire darted through the Smoak Technologies building trying to evade a dozen or so rampaging employees. Icicle and Brainwave continued looking for some piece of technology in the R&D division on the seventh floor, while the sixth floor was completely compromised and covered in ice. Wildcat and the burned out Brazilian heroine were almost out of gas and tried taking a breather in a corner office.

“Do you think someone is coming?” Fire asked in a thick accent.

With his slightly enhanced hearing Wildcat could hear someone coming down from the upper floors. A battle cry he hadn’t heard in decades. It couldn’t be her. Perhaps it was another Amazon? The all new Wonder Woman was on the scene and with her speed, reflexes, and shield she made it through the civilian employees under the mind control of Brainwave with ease. As the elder hero and Fire began working their way back up and through the ice encompassed floor, they were met by Red Star who was busy melting ice and freeing any trapped civilians.

“Who else does the League have on call?” Fire wondered.

October 29th, 2018 - 11:40 am | Downtown - Smoak Technologies Building

Kitsune was glad she arrived at Smoak Technologies Building. She barely understood what the other heroes were talking about in the com links but she managed to hear a few words to know there is trouble already happening downtown.

When she did get there, panicked employees were screaming and running away from the building where it seemed that the rest of the employees inside were on a complete rampage... wait, why is there a hole through the sixth floor? Kitsune hasn't completely understood what was going on but one thing she's certain of is that she has to do something.

She became invisible and went inside the building. Kitsune immediately noticed a vertical line cutting through all the floors. She hovered her hand over it, still warm. She expanded her senses: aside from the rampaging employees, she found out Red Star, Wildcat, Fire, and possibly the new Wonder Woman already in the scene. She also found out Icicle and Brainwave are in the building, perhaps Brainwave's the one controlling these people? But wait, none of them had the ability to release hot energy capable of creating the hole through the sixth floor as well as the vertical cut. Might be another villain, but why can't she feel its presence? Maybe it's an accomplice of the two villains to create mayhem as a way of entering the building and went away because its job is done?

Kitsune shook her head. Stop it, she told herself. There's no time to think about the "who, what, where"s. Right now she has to focus on what she can do to help. She'll deal with this later.

Kitsune breathed in. She already knew what to do. Over time, she began to have an ability to persuade and manipulate people through their emotions which is one of the mystical abilities of a true and legitimate kitsune, but she's still unsure about it since this is her first time doing her it and especially to a lot of people at once. She shrugged. Well, there's always a place for first times, she said to herself.

She went to the center and concentrated, her seimei umbrella spinning slowly and floating beside her. In a few minutes, she began to glow with soft pink light and released trails of sakura petals around her, each trail surrounding an employee in a cocoon-like way. When the petals began to surround some of the employees, Kitsune began to feel the mental pressure coming from Brainwave, struggling to maintain his control on the people. Kistune didn't gave up and telepathically talked to them, trying to persuade them to fight off against Brainwave's mind control while also sifting through each person's fondest memories to boost their willpower.

"Free yourself. The villain has no right to control your life. You must summon the willpower to resist its control. Anata no jiyū no tame ni tatakau! Fight for your freedom!", she said to every person under the influence of Brainwave.

With a last burst of power, Kistune managed to release the people from being mind-controlled by Brainwave and she along with the employees slumped to the floor and groaned. It took all of their willpower to fight back against the villain but they succeeded with her help. She groggily stood up and told everyone to leave the building immediately and they did, each of them supporting the others who can barely stand. Breathing a few times to regain her composure, she grabbed her umbrella and went upstairs to join the other heroes in the upper floors.

October 29th, 2018 - 1:35 pm | Justice League Headquarters - Metro Tower

Vadim caught the tennis ball once more and with his free hand grasped the armrest of his chair as the boy answered his question by suddenly darting out of the room on a bolt of lightning. The vacuum created by his departure caused his chair to roll back a foot before Vadim’s feet dropped upon the floor.

“Что такое?” (sh-toe’ tah’ko’ye/what the?) he muttered under his breath as he sat up in his chair gazing wide-eyed behind him. He could only assume that was the direction the kid had darted away in. So…super speed. His eyes narrowed then. What a show off. Leaning forward in his chair, Vadim rolled it back over to the console so that he could return to using it as a foot rest. Reclining back once more, he tossed the ball up at the ceiling. A man then passed by the Monitor Room, calling into it.

Hey kid, let me know if you need anything. It looks like your deputy took off for the night or something. Has Wildcat checked in since hitting Star City?

Vadim caught the ball one final time and rolled back a little in his chair to allow his feet to rest on the floor. He frowned up at the console. Had he checked in? He hadn’t heard anything. They had given him a quick crash course on the console, and Vadim was no genius. If he had to push a few buttons to even receive a message, then he was lost on what to do. The maintenance man who had checked up on him came to the rescue. He quickly raced over to the monitor station and Vadim blankly watched the man push this, that, and this, and then suddenly some screens started popping up. He glanced at the screens. Whatever was going on, it didn’t look good.

I think you better go suit up. Wildcat and Fire are both unresponsive and news footage hasn’t reported anything about the incident being over. I’m gonna see if I can find any other recruits to send out there…

Suit up. A long and excited smile stretched across Vadim’s face. He had been aching to hear that phrase since he joined the group. Rising from his chair with vigor, he pumped a fist and exclaimed, “Ура!” (oo-rah/exactly what it sounds like usually a cheer and commonly heard in the Russian military).

S T A R C I T Y:

October 29th, 2018 - 11:40 am | Downtown - Smoak Technologies Building

Burning like a red comet through the air, Vadim, now Red Star soared through the air toward the sixth floor that appeared to be encapsulated in jagged fragments of ice. Red flames engulfed his body as the icicle wall swiftly approached. His hands had been palms downward, having just burnt the cement sidewalk below with a blast of his crimson energy. It had been that blast that had propelled him into the air. Raising his hands before him, Vadim bore his teeth as he released another blast of energy from his palms and immediately learned a lesson about rocket propulsion. The force from the beam had sent him in the opposite direction from where he had wanted to go. Stabbing through the ice spike like a hot knife, the beams sent Vadim flying backwards as it passed upwards into the ceiling, cutting through a few floors as it rose vertically before finally vanishing. Red Star struck the cement and went rolling, the flames extinguishing from his body. He planted a hand on the ground to stop the momentum and rose upon his hands and knees, gazing up at the R&D facility that…well, there was an opening now to the sixth floor, but he hadn’t meant the knife-like cut that had burned a vertical line through the other floors.

“Shit!” he cursed. It had been his first time ever using his energy for something serious. He knew how much energy he needed to output to melt a car in a junkyard, but an iceberg? Hopefully, nobody had seen his blunder (or gotten hurt by it). He didn’t have time to waste being embarrassed about it. He rose to his feet with a frown and the hints of blush still reddening his cheeks. “Let’s try this again.”

Red Star pushed off the ground into a sprint. His black combat boots struck the pavement, his quads and calves flexing and trembling from the strength that cracked the cement beneath them. His arms swung, powering his stride, until he believed he reached where he wanted to be to get through that hole he had created. Taking one more step, he crouched. His hands posted upon the ground to either side of him and with a burst of energy, while simultaneously springing upward with the strength of his legs, Red Star launched into the air. Like a red beam, he swiftly approached the floor, and then he noticed…he didn’t come anywhere close to the hole he had made.

“Fuck!” he cursed and crossed his arms before his face, tucking his legs closer to his body as he flew into the ice spikes. The spikes shattered like prop glass against his body. The wall of ice instantly fragmented in a ring before it caved in, exploding into thousands of ice crystals. Red Star took out a counter and a microwave as he went rolling through what might have been a break room once (before he wrecked it). The ice hadn’t made it easier to stop. It had been only the wall of one of the laboratories that stopped him. Upside down on his back with his knees over his face, Red Star began patting his chest and stomach for blood.

“I am…alive,” he said to himself in relief before he rolled over onto his side. The ice had cut his uniform in some places. It hadn’t been some hi-tech costume. He had put the flame-retarded green shirt with green military pants together himself. The red star was stitched to the front of his chest by a mere sewing machine. His clothes were still putting up a fight. Finally standing, Red Star surveyed his surroundings. Steam was already rising off his body and he could see his breath curling before his face on white plumes. The place felt like the inside of a freezer. He gazed back into the break room where the second hole he had made into the six floor was. He hadn’t noticed before—he had been too busy rolling by—but hiding under the break room table was a large plump man. Red Star’s blonde brows rose in surprise as he stepped back into the break room, ice and glass cracking under his boots. He dropped to his knees and crawled under the table to get a closer look at the man. He was frozen. Was he alive?

Red Star poked the man’s iced cheek with his finger. The ice felt pretty solid. Vadim then rested his hand against the man’s face and gently pushed his energy outwards. The ice turned into water that flushed down the man’s face. With a startled gasp, the man awoke. He blinked his eyes and gave one look at Vadim and screamed. He was pale and his lips were blue and quivering.

“Who-who are you? Help! Someone help!” he cried.

“I am hero,” Red Star answered.

The scientist heard his accent and gasped, “You’re…are you Russian? This must be a Russian attack! HELP!”

Red Star raised a hand to his face and sighed in exasperation. “Quiet! (Сука...) The enemy is still here. I unfreeze you.”

Red Star rested his hand on the man’s arm and the man stared at the blonde in fearful awe. He gazed into his green eyes that turned red. His irises became a white swirling galaxy of light as he focused on spreading his energy throughout the man’s body. Soon, the scientist was warm and soaked from head to toe from the melted ice. The glow in Vadim’s eyes faded as he told him, “There. You are free to escape.”

The man crossed his arms before his chest. His limbs still felt numb and tingly. The surrounding cold air was making him cold. “Th-thank you! Whoever you are. There’s more of us hiding around here.”

“I am Red Star. I am good guy. What happened?”

“I-I don’t exactly know. I was in the break room when I heard people shouting to run and that there is an attack. I immediately locked the door and hid under this table. Then everything went black and now you’re here.”

Red Star frowned a little as he silently mused over the reported information. Crawling backwards out from under the table, he rose to his feet and gazed down at the man. “Get out. I will save the others.”

Red Star turned and left the break room. He walked down the hall, the ice covering the carpet and floors turning into liquid at his passing. When he reached a series of cubicles, he saw people frozen in suspended animation. Some had their hands up as though trying to hide behind them and others were beneath their desks looking distressed. There was a clear attack, and it was apparent the enemy had ice powers. If he tried to freeze people one by one, it would take all day. They could succumb to hypothermia if they weren’t already dead from lack of oxygen.

Before he attempted to save them, Red Star glanced down at the floor where the laser-like cut was. His green eyes rose to the ceiling that still dripped with charred rubble before gazing out the hole in the wall. What a disaster…if only he could fly. Red Star brought his hands together before his chest and closed his eyes. He breathed in deeply through his nostrils and then exhaled through his lips. Unleashing all of his energy was easy. Controlling how much he released was a headache. It was like performing slow reps. All of his power just wanted to explode out of him at once because it was easier and didn’t hurt. Unfortunately, he had to hold it all back. Like a furnace, Red Star began releasing waves of heat from his body to melt the ice and heat up one half of the floor. The victims began to thaw. Some immediately jerked awake, while others slumped to the floor still unresponsive.

Season 2 - E P I S O D E I:
A Traitor Among Us

In the shadow of her failure Supergirl flew back alongside Starman. A necessary retreat until she understood the sudden lose of her powers. Her move should have been the grand entrance of the new Supergirl. She had been training like crazy for about a year now, achieving a lot more technique than her father ever had. Yet all that meant nothing with her telekinesis weakened like this.

There has to be a reason. Someone must have drugged me or cursed me or …

But no. The hard truth, she so desperately had been denying, was right in front of her. Her telekinesis was influenced by her inner feelings, and her feelings were a mess. No matter how motivated Supergirl felt, and no matter how much she wanted to help out, didn’t change the fact that she had been hit where it hurt. Metro Tower was her new home and an attack on it from the inside simply struck deeper than any kryptonite blade ever could.
The only defense she had learned over the last year was how to shield people from harm, how to take a punch. None of it was about putting aside doubts or concerns.
Supergirl knew she would have to do better. But at least things couldn’t get any worse.

Season 2 - E P I S O D E 2:
A Traitor Revealed

M E T R O P O L I S:

October 25th, 2018 - 7:35 pm | Justice League Headquarters - Metro Tower

@ineffable

"Guy's?!" called out the now barefooted blonde in the lobby of the Metro Tower.

Shadows moved and swirled like something out of a cartoon. The man of living darkness shaped himself in ways that would truly haunt a person if they could only see him coming. As the heroic female in her civies tried making her way deeper into the HQ she was startled when a man bumped into her. It was the young hero Vibe also trying to find somebody with a clue as to what was going on.

"Hey!?" he said out loud before tripping over his own foot and falling to the floor."What in the heck's going on? I bet the guy without a face would have a few ideas..." Vibe continued to comment picking himself up and waiting for the barefoot girl to respond. However, from the corner of his eye Vibe noticed a shadow move and turned to blast it with his strange energy.

"We're not alone, Apollex!" he yelled before a shadow tendril grabbed him from the darkness and threw him like a ragdoll across the lobby and into some statues of Vixen and Robotman.

@rocketrobie2 @Sir Lurksalot @NecroKnight

The generator room below the back end of Metro Tower was currently occupied by three heroes. The Blue Beetle, Champion, as well as the Lizard were looking into the power outage. The lights were out save for the red emergency lights and the exit signs. The whole thing felt like a horror movie. The generators themselves looked like a few school busses sitting side by side they were so massive. It was what younger members assumed batteries would look like for giant Japanese mechas like in the cartoons. Beetle came in a little late to the party and missed the thunderclap.

"What happened? What was the quake about?" Beetle had asked, but before anybody could answer a spark shot up through an outlet on the wall and shot back towards the already damaged area. It grew larger and eventually the villainess Livewire came to life in front of the heroes.

Ted felt a sudden tigntness in his chest as the light took form. "Holy hell!" Ted exclaimed as he stumbled backwards and fumbled for his gun though he didn't know how much good it would do against the lady of pure electricity.

"LET'S PLAY BUG ZAPPER!" Livewire screamed firing bolts of electricity at the three heroes before teleporting through another wall outlet. She bursted out of an overhead light and caught Lizard with a solid dropkick before bolting through the air again to dodge the would be attack of Blue Beetle.

Finally getting his fingers on his BB gun, Ted fired a strong gust at Livewire only to miss. The frantic hero had to wait as his gun compressed enough air to fire again but in the mean time he loaded up his grappling hook in the hopes of grounding the glowing sack of energy.

@WXer

As it was in the rest of the tower, the fortified panic room was quiet and dark. Perhaps moreso, what with the thick steel walls and claustrophobic spaces.

"I appreciate the gesture, Lieutenant, but I'm hardly defenseless." Bruce mused, a mixture of his trademark annoyance and a dash of bemusement evident in his voice as he entered in behind the mecha-less hero "We should probably be looking for your teammates."

"And I appreciate your sentiment as well, mister Wayne. However, League protocol dictates that we put the safety of civilians as our number one priority... Besides, I doubt a power outage is much to..." the radioactive man began to reply, turning around to be met with what appeared to be the shapeshifting arm of Bruce Wayne.

"You should rearrange your priorities, human." the would be Bruce cut him off and stabbed through the hero's stomach while nobody was around, similar to how he had killed the Ravager. He phased through the entrance to the panic room and took the form of the Question.

"Did you retrieve the weapon?" the alien spoke telepathically to the Shadow Thief.

Back in the lobby...

"Of course I did but I'm a little preoccupied at the moment!" Shadow Thief responded dodging another energy wave attack courtesy of Vibe.

The Warden//Episode One//Why do we Even Have These Droids

The Warden realized on raising himself up to the top that he didn't really know what to do now. There has to be somewhere that controls the combat droids...something that let them malfunction in the first place... The Warden in general didn't keep up with the technical side of the base, but did know that the main control room had a few emergency shutdown buttons, one of which was for the training room. That would do for starters.... he thought, before hearing the telltale sounds of another droid, this one entering the lobby. He quickly dove to the side, taking the still unpowered Najee with him in a protective roll as the Supergirl droid dove at where the two were standing a second before. Two more entered, a Warden and a Starman. Quickly getting back on his feet, Warden assumed a fighting stance as the three bots started circling him. "I could really use Shazam right now..." he said to the boy he assumed was still behind him - until he heard the pitterpatter of a small child running, and turned around in time to see Najee disappear around a corner. "NAJEE" he yelled, as the Starman bot pushed him up against the wall with its powers.

Forced to engage, The Warden rolled from his fallen position, coiled his vines behind himself and launched himself at the Starman clone, fist first. Smashing a hole in the bot's midriff, he followed up with the brambled vine, hitting the starman clone into the wall, HARD. Ducking, he dodged a vine attack from the Warden clone, tripping it with one of his own vines before getting hit by a spurt of heat ray the supergirl clone was attempting to control. Knocked back closer to the Warden clone by the painful blast, the Warden took it in stride, laying into the still fallen clone with a strong kick. Dodging a shot from the shorting out Starman clone, the Warden sent out two vines at the Supergirl clone. it dodged the one aimed at its head, but the other came from the other side straight at its hips, and sent the robot sprawling. As he was doing this, he began to close the distance with the Starman clone before he felt his entire body just... stop ...

The Warden clone pulled harder on his vines as The Warden resisted its powers. He could feel the tears forming on his spine as the clone controlled him by his plant half, before getting thrown into the wall. Picked up again, he was teed up for the Supergirl clone, who flew into him HARD. Slammed into yet another wall, the Warden struggled to get up, trying to focus his own powers as his clone again grabbed him using its plant control abilities, this time slamming him into the roof. as the Warden fell, he threw another one of his acorns hard at his clone. as he did so, he grabbed onto the rafters with two vines, dodging a shot from the starman clone and sending the brambled vine at his clone. Focusing into the acorn, it began to sprout, until his clone noticed it, and focused all of its power on stopping that growth. The acorn dinked uselessly off of the robot, which was then blindsided by a vine wrapping around its neck. The warden squeezed tighter, and the robot's illusory appearance began to fade as the vine wrapped further around it and crushed the machine.

As this was happening, The Warden turned his attention to other matters, namely dodging the attacking supergirl clone. He still got caught in its flyby and took a hit to the chest that probably broke a rib, but he also managed to catch it with a vine by the foot. pulled for a bit by its flight, he was eventually able to swing the now completely busted warden clone into the Supergirl and knock it off balance, and began dragging it towards him. Meanwhile, his final vine began jousting with the already heavily damaged Starman clone, slowly getting the better of it, smashing its head off of the rest of its body. Meanwhile, the Supergirl clone was slowly dragging him towards it by his vines. Pulling himself towards it, he punched hard, while taking a punch from it. they sparred that way in the while for a small while, before The Warden was able to catch it off guard with a kick after moving his vines a little funny. From there, he grabbed the back of its head and kneed it in the crotch repeatedly until the illusion faded and it became nothing but a set of parts. quickly grabbing out with the vine that defeated the Starman clone, he caught himself on the rafters as the formerly flying robot fell, and established himself up there as he checked for obvious wounds.

Wiping his mouth gave him a clue to the first major wound, as blood leaked out - definitely a rib or two. He couldn't see his spine, but he definitely felt the dull pain thudding along it, the bonds between his two halves torn at and frayed. Need to minimize further contact...initiate on my own terms...also need to find Najee - but is saving one at great risk to my own life truly worth endangering the lives of everyone to the hordes of robots?... he considered this as he extended a vine to recover his acorn, returning it to its seed form. Am too weak to try and find him...perhaps he is on a mission of his own?... he looked up, and to the left, to the ventilation shaft. He might not know the technical side of the building well, but he did know its physical side in and out, both through maps and his own exploration. He could get to the main control room in just a few minutes, mostly silently, and without running into more bots - and hopefully disable them in one fell swoop. Removing the cover, he climbed in and re-attached it, and made his way to his next goal.
