"Oh dear", Sunny thought. This is what she meant by being at each other's throats. She stood up and quickly approached the two. She stood in the middle of them, putting a hand on each of their shoulders. "Now, now, no need to fight. We're all just... tired. Tired and stressed because of the long trip that got us here, we all barely know each other, scared of what future might have in store for us, homesick and dearly missing our family, and most of all very, very hungry", she said to both of them in a soothing voice. "Mister Randy, I appreciate the offer but I'm afraid I'm preserving my first kiss on my wedding day. Though I wouldn't mind the demonstration, and I'll be happy to inform you in the future if I decided otherwise", she said to Randy. This isn't the first time she became a mediator in heated arguments. Even though she's the youngest member of the Lakambini yet, they often turn to her when they're in the middle of a personal argument and seek her input on how to best solve the problem without being in favor on one of them.

She turned to Dominique next. "Lady Dominique, I also appreciate you defending me. I may not look like it but I am quite capable of defending myself. Do let me fight my own battles, yeah?", she said with a smile. Since Sunny has her back against Randy, she looked at Dominique's eyes while she's trying to calm her to relay a message via girl telepathy (it's just a thing she made up): Girl, thank you so much! Never mind him, boys will be boys. Don't worry, I got your back too, sister! She doesn't know if Dominique got the meaning but Sunny hoped she understood what she meant.

Chris chuckled and looked round to a mixture of disapproval and suppressed smiles. Which only made him smile more.
Especially Garrett's disapproval. "So", he thought. "You're a chivalrous type eh? Thats nice, i was afraid it was a room of nothing more than mummas boys & girls, hothoused from birth to do nothing but kill things in a competition for biggest bastard of the year."

Then he saw the fight flair up between the redhead and the South African?? He knew how quick things could get serious. "Steady on!!! "Hes only small!" he said jokingly.

Then another one of the girls intervened. "That was well timed" he thought. What could he have done if she'd just cut him down?

This was not the first time that Jack had been on a yacht like this. His father had taken him on a yacht like this when they had been at Monaco for some sort of party. His father had been oddly cagey about the entire event but that made it more interesting. Jack had spent an entire week mostly by himself in the Principality. He had learned so much climbing around the cliffs of the city. He was in no condition to climb Everest but he had learnt enough. His trip had started from his father's house with Jack waking up at the crack of dawn like he always did. After his run, it was time to go for the Academy. He put on his favorite suede trench coat and simple black pants. He could have worn something more showy but the point was not to look like a peacock. and Father was somewhere else so Jack was driven to the location of the yacht. The entire time he was trying to remember the path that they had taken to get here but most of the English coastline was very very similar. This stretch of coastline was no different. He had a mental map of the area to and from the area if he needed to get away from these people. He had always been taught to "Trust yet verify". He didn't know why these people would be untrustworthy but he still needed to keep all of his options open. The open water made his possible escape plans completely useless. He didn't need to run from this place since he had a lot riding on this. Fletchers were spies in Her Majesty's employ and Jack would some day follow that proud tradition. He just needed to get through this school first.

Jack had spent most of his time on the yacht standing near the front of the ship in his own little world. If someone were to look at him, it would appear that he was just staring out into the middle distance. In reality, he was making plans. He had not seen a lot of his fellow students so he didn't know how they would act around each other. That was a variable that he didn't like to think about. Still, he might learn something from them and perhaps teach them something. When the castle came into view, he started to think again. There was no point to having a castle in the middle of the ocean all by itself. The whole point of a castle was to defend an area or to act as a home. This place just seemed like it had been dropped there from the heavens. However, if one wanted to train spies this was a good place to do it. No one could approach the area without being instantly seen. That was a perk to being all by your lonesome.

As soon as Jack got off of the yacht, he was put on one of his masks. It was not a physical mask but it was very close to being the real thing. He didn't want the whole world to know who he was and where he came from. He didn't want to announce that he was a legacy or anything like that. He didn't want anyone to think he would get special treatment or something. That was where Country Boy Jackson Fletcher came in. Jack had a few different covers but that was the best one. There was an accent for every "mask". He had discovered that people seemed to have preconceived notions about people with Texan accents so he was going to use it. People seemed to think that he was a simple guy if he had a relatively thick Texan accent.

Jack walked into the room where everyone seemed to be talking about French Toast of all things. Jack looked over at the group and gave them all a wave. "Howdy, ya'll. This hopefully will be a great time for all us." He said in that slow Texan manner. He looked over at the smaller man with a smile. "Actually, the French Kiss comes from World War 1 soldiers coming home to kiss their girls with the French Style of Kissing. In France it's called a few things but a Florentine Kiss is one of them, partner." He said slipping that he might be a little smarter than he let on. "Oh and French Toast is most certainly French. They call it "pain perdu" or lost bread since traditionally it is made from stale or lost bread. We Texans most certainly didn't make it. I think you were thinking of Texas Toast which is a whole different ballgame." He said with a megawatt smile for the group. He needed to get these people to like him if he wanted to succeed at this place. He had let it slip that he knew to speak French but that wasn't that important in the long run. His father had taught him to always hide how he truly was and this was a good example of that in practice.

Jack flopped down onto one of the couches while he looked at the group. He was trying to read them to figure out who was who. There was something important in figuring them out. he watched them for a second before talking again. "Oh... pardon my manners. Mama would skin me alive for not introducing myself. Jackson Fletcher. At your service." He said with a head bow. "Mostly good at punching things and making plans. " He continued since he wanted to introduce himself a little better

DEVIN

It didn't take an expert to see egos were starting to pile up in the living room. As interesting as it was to hear everyone's ideas on where French stuff came from Devin figured he would just look it up on a laptop later if it came up again. Picking up his bag he looked around the room at everyone. "So rooms are upstairs?" He then started to walk towards the spiral staircase and tossing his bag over his shoulder.

As he did Devin noticed he wasn't the only one to get up and go as the woman who introduced herself as Kat also began to make her way to the stairs. Unsure if she was the walking talking type he didn't make a move to strike up a conversation. Instead he was delighted to hear her take the initiative.

KAT

Kat could feel her headache getting worse as her temples started to violently protest to all the noise in the common room. She had been trying to keep track of everything and everyone but with all the traveling she had been doing she was more than ready to go up to her room, grab something to eat and just relax.

She got up and was making her way to the door when the cute bad-boy turned and fell into step beside her. Wanting to make an effort and get to know some of her roommates for this year she started to introduce herself.

"Hi! I don't know if you came early enough to hear me introduce myself but I'm Kat. I live in Mexico. I mean I'm half Venezulan and half-British," she rambled.

I should just shut up now, she thought as she felt a flush creep up her face. Even with having two brothers Kat was wholly foreign to talking to guys her age and attempting to make friends. She had gone to an all girls school so this, this was all new.

"Sorry for rambling, she said sheepishly as she shifted the straps on her backpack. "I'm just a little tired and all that" she said gesturing at the room they were leaving, "was a bit much I think. Where are you from? It's Devin right?"

NIKKI

Sitting in the room with everyone, Nikki could only describe things as hectic. With people arriving and a fight nearly breaking out, she was pretty much ready to hide right then and there. However, she noticed Devin walking towards the staircase, as well as another girl whose name she overheard, was Kat. With everything going on, she completely forgot to go inspect her new bedroom and living space. Walking quickly to catch up to the other two, she spoke.

“Kat and Devin, right? Mind if I join you both? I still haven’t seen upstairs, and if it looks anything like down here, I’m sure it’s a sight to see.”

DEVIN

"British and Venezuelan?" Devin echoed as they reached the stairs. "I can fathom a guess that at least one of your parents was a globe trotter then most likely." Devin filed in as they started to ascend when the blonde Nikki joined them. "Sure thing feels like there is a little too much FDP in the room right now."

They then started up the stairs as Devin returned to the original conversation. "For me it was a quick trip. I am from Toronto, though originally Vancouver. Both parents from Canada and please don't call it rambling. What we are walking away from is rambling." Devin gave a chuckle as he looked back at Nikki just to see if his joke landed at all.

The three reached the top of the stairs and looked down the hall Devin had to stop himself from giving out another whistle. "Someone said we had our names on the doors." He mused as they all got to the top and stood in the middle of the vaulted hallway.

KAT

Kat smiled as the Dutch girl caught up with them. " Your name's Nikki right? Please join us! We were just wanting to leave the mess behind. Que demonios*!

Kat turned back to Devin and started laughing. " Yeah... it's been pretty intense in there. My parents met on an international case. And apparently it was love at first fight because I have 4 older siblings. Do you guys have big families?" she asked before she ascended the last step.

Once she turned to see the hallway she couldn't help but let out a gasp. " Wow! This place is amazing!" She made her way down the hallway before, thankfully, finding her door at the end. Nearby she could see the names Janssen, Coal and Rusu .
" Oh we're neighbours! That's cool~ So after we check this out do you guys want to grab a something to eat? I can cook or I can provide some Latino candy?" she asked wiggling her brows teasingly.

These people seemed like a chill group, which is what she needed right about now.

NIKKI

The blonde laughed at the Canadian's joke."Tell me about it. You would think that people would try to make a good first impression and keep it calm. But I guess that's not how it works here."

Turning to Kat, she smiled."It's not really common to have large families in the Netherlands, but since my father is American, he wanted to have a couple more children than the norm. I have two older brothers, so I'm used to things being a little on the crazier side. I wish I had more siblings though, that would've been so much fun."

Gazing around at the living space, Nikki let her jaw slightly drop. The exposed wood was gorgeous and gave a classic feel that reminded her of some of the homes back in Lisse. Finding her surname printed on the door that was diagonal from Kat's, she opened it to reveal a modest room with a dorm style bed, a desk, a chair, and a dresser. Her window looked out onto the sea, which glistened in the light. "This is lovely." She mused, turning to the other two. "Food sounds great right now. I haven't eaten anything since I left my hotel this morning." Nikki replied, feeling her stomach quietly rumble again.

DEVIN

Now Devin was feeling like he was in school. A normal conversation felt like a rarity already with him overhearing students talk about bomb disposal and lethal potency of poison, so he figured he wouldn't have many. Now here he was talking to two other students about family. "Twin little sisters round my family out to five. Opposite of you. We will have to trade notes... Or families if it could work out" He joked to Nikki.

The offer of candy sounded great and the added news of already starting to like his neighbors put Devin back at ease. "Let me put some things away and then I'll knock on your door?" Devin then opened his own and started to walk into his. "One thing I know is to never not knock. I'm betting your brothers haven't learned it yet?"

Quickly, the dorm room was flooded by several more people, each one with their own unique quirks. The topic then randomly changed to french toast. Shiro closed his eyes and took a mental note of the area. Each of these people were unique in their own way, and it would be interesting, to say the very least. After a deep breath to help take in this new experience, Shiro opened his eyes back to the light and swiftly buckled his blade to his belt.

"On the subject of french toast, I'm going to go check out the kitchen," Shiro said nonchalantly, in an attempt to cool down the rather heated environment. "Hopefully they gave us something to work with. Feel free to join me,” he said to the group, giving an exaggerated wink to Sunny, for he had felt her scootch towards him on the couch before. With that, he turned and strode into the kitchen.

There, he found a fantastically well-kept kitchen, with plenty of kitchen space and a large white table for eating with several house plants. A fragrant scent traveled through the room. Shiro smiled. “Really starting to like this place,” he said dreamily, looking up at the cream ceiling.

"Excellent!" Chris slapped his thighs and rose. "You do know how to make French toast right? I'll find the eggs." he entered the kitchen and stared "Where do they even get eggs on this island?" He chuckled "This is rather like that spy game from the USSR... wheres an egg? " He moved over to one of the fridges, opened it and there sat a dozen chicken eggs. "Ding!" They suspiciously lacked the UK date stamp which he observed silently. After testing them in a bowl of water he started cracking them into a glass bowl. "Twelve people? Twelve eggs?" His brow furrowed. He looked up at Shiro. They shared a silence.

Garrett glanced at Jackson, pointing a finger at him and saying, "Amen to that, my good fellow." Rule number one: don't mess with Mom. Ever. Even if you were a super spy and she wasn't. Garrett had learned that from an early age. He wondered for a moment if there was a school for becoming a badass mother, or if it just came natural to some women...

Garrett glanced around, and noticed AJ sitting off, removed from the cluster near the door. Being that she was quiet enough to have not introduced herself, and also hadn't picked any fights, she was probably worth talking to. Or sitting in silence with, at the very least. He stood up, and walked over. He extended a hand in greeting and said, "Hey. I'm..uh...Garrett."

Oh, the drama... AJ marveled at the way the other students were reacting to each other not even half an hour after meeting. The hostility and straightforwardness indicated some of them were impulsive, and that was never a good sign, especially when she knew she'd have to eventually rely on some of them in various life or death scenarios.

Just then, one of the students walked over and introduced himself. AJ didn't notice him fighting with the others like he had something to prove. That was good, maybe he had better self-control than most. Or maybe he just hadn't been pushed to that point yet. Either way, it didn't hurt to find out.

"Hi Garret, I'm Ava," she said, standing up to return his handshake with a half smile of her own. "You can call me AJ if you'd like, it's short for Ava Jade," she continued with a shrug of her shoulders. "Quite the first day we're having, huh? It's like that bad American show The Real World. I mean, they had one season back at home I think, but it was still quite dramatic."

Garrett sat down near Ava's perch, gesturing that she could sit back down. A small part of him hated that she'd gone to the trouble of standing up. Oh well. Hazards of being polite. He chuckled quietly at her mention of the TV show, however, and said, "I'm afraid I've never seen it. Though I blame being a boring sod who prefers the company of books to TV." He glanced at the rest of the group for a moment, then said, "But yes, I suppose today has been interesting. Lovely campus we've got here. Nothing against the dorms, but I sense I will be spending time locked away in my own room, more often than not." He gave AJ a knowing sideways glance and said, "No tellin' why."

He cracked a wry grin, and reached up to scratch the back of his neck. He realized that he was out of his element here, and his usual small-talk topics were...mundane to say the least. Hell, it was easy enough when you could follow a script, but he had a feeling everyone present was worried about more than weather and sports. Especially not American Football. But, if small talk ever failed, just get em talking about themselves. "So, what'd they get you in here for?"

Sunny breathed a sigh of relief. Looks like everyone’s getting along just fine now, which is great since they all need one another to survive in this academy. She’s really greatful for Dominique for defending her but Sunny doesn’t like anybody getting in trouble because of her. Even so, she feels like they can become best friends, and who wouldn’t want to have a bestfriend who has a very cool French accent?

What Sunny seemed surprised to is that most of the group is talking about french toast. Although when you think about it now, most of them including Sunny, if not all, are really hungry right now. Sure, Sunny ate a lot at the yacht during the trip but that was hours ago. A girl needs to keep on living after all.

Speaking of french toast, Sunny felt like melting butter on a warm bread with she saw Shiro winked at him. She giggled a bit, then she remembered the sword buckled on his belt. “No way, is he actually a samurai spy? Now that’s what you call the best of both worlds”, Sunny thought to herself. At least they have another thing in common: aside from both being Asians, they also work with sharp metal blades. “But can you really consider needles as blades? A rapier is kinda like a long needle too, so is that also called a blade?”, she pondered. She shrugged. She’ll think about that later.

Sunny joined Shiro in the kitchen, which is beautiful just like the rest of this place, and also saw Chris already beating eggs. Since she likes to cook, she considered asking them if she could be of any help but she thought that too many hands in the kitchen, especially when they’re only making easy and simple food like french toast, is quite uneccesary to say the least.

Having heard Chris ask about the number of eggs, Sunny opened the fridge full of ingredients and reached out for the milk. Then she opened one cabinet and found a measuring cup they could use. “It’s usually two to four eggs per cup of milk, though it usually depends on the person eating on how much eggs and milk they would like to put on their french toast”, she said to Shiro and Chris with a smile. "Here Chris, you forgot the milk", she said as she put the milk and the measuring cup beside him.

She sat on one of the chairs at the table and watched them, especially Shiro. “A samurai spy who knows how to cook who’s both adorable and handsome at the same time? Yes please”, she thought dreamily to herself with a sigh.

As Dominique was about to take things a bit further, intimidation-wise, the Filipina girl stepped between the pair and broke up the confrontation. She smirked as Sunny gave her a look that could only be read as one thing, before looking back to Randall with the same cold look she’d given him before. “Typical.” She spat the word like venom before sending a warm smile in Sunny’s direction, following her into the kitchen. After hearing the mention of food, she couldn’t possibly turn down the prospect of a meal. In her excitement that morning Dominique had only eaten a bagel and coffee before departing and her stomach’s current mood reflected that poor decision. She needed food and soon.

Walking in behind the group while trying to remain somewhat inconspicuous, Dominique paced over to the bar-like table and hopped up onto a stool. Looking over to Shiro, she cocked her head and called out to him playfully.

“So, monsieur le chef, what dish are you preparing for us? Would you like some help?”

Dominique propped her head up with her arms and waited patiently, glancing to the other occupants of the room with curiosity. It was certainly going to be an interesting year at the academy with such a diverse group of people. She looked over to Sunny with curious eyes, feeling bad for making such a scene on the first day.

“I am sorry for making a scene back there. Ca me rend fou quand-- It makes me crazy when people think they can just say whatever they want like that.”

Walking into his room Devin was happy to to see the impressive interior didn't end at the dorm room hallway. Walking into the space he was happy to see his other bags and items waiting for him just inside the door. He hastily gathered his things and started to put them in the right space. There was enough closet space for his clothes and a desk for his laptop. The special part of this schools dorm was, among other things, the hidden weapon storage options. Devin's seem to reveal itself with the push of a button on the TV mounted on his wall. Thankfully the small instructions on his desk explained how to use it and what the schools requirements were for gun safety. Devin was happy to see that the hidden gun safe was also locked to his fingerprint so as to no accidental tomfoolery with other students.

With his clothes put away and his laptop charging the young Canadian started to store his weapons. He started with his sidearm a Sig Sauer P226 Pistol. The weapon was a gift from his mother and was the same weapon she took when out on the field. The grip was standard with only mild alterations. The rule in the house for everyone was learn to shoot then modify and while Devin was an excellent shot he learned that modifications where a losing game. You learn on the stock you are ready to lock. He thought as he put the gun down.

Next up was Colt Canada C8SFW. The modern trade tool for active members of the Canadian army and special forces. Through some contacts, albeit only one phone call, his dad was able to get him one as a going away gift for getting accepted into S.P.I.G.A. The weapon came with plenty of modifications to fit any sort of need, but like before Devin first had to earn them. Devin had the sneaking suspicion he would likely get them sent as his dad found out about his grades or something.

Last, but certainly not least was his favorite. The bag was light, but what it held was an instrument of perfect precision. The Remington Defense CSR. It was Devin's favorite because it was the same weapon his dad used on most missions when he was in the military before he joined the RCMP. He was a member of the Airborne Pathfinder Unit. A group that specialized in securing drop zones, gathering intelligence, and briefing follow-on forces—also conduct ambushes and reconnaissance behind enemy lines.

Devin's father was and is a badass. It was a lot to live up to. Especially when he listened to his father talk about what his mother did. All of a sudden the gun in Devin's hands felt very heavy. It was more than the weight of what it was capable of, but the crushing weight of what his own expectations. His parents always said no matter what path he decided to follow they would support him, but that didn't change the fact that both were some of the best in their field.

Looking over and seeing the trunk he sent ahead still full of books he set the rifle on the rack next to the others and picked some of them up. Reading was where Devin found his center. He loved it and had his mother to thank for the growing passion. Flipping through them he gave an audible laugh as he saw biography and autobiographies of famous spies. Finally he fell upon a book about Virginia Wells or the "Limping Lady" One of the most successful and famous allies spies during the second world war. He had read the book at least three times and knew he would read it several times more. Looking at a picture of Virginia Wells he saw a lot of his mother in her and felt a boost of confidence.

After putting the books away Devin checked his watch and saw the time. His stomach let out a little gurgle as if to say 'time doesn't wait for hunger.' So listening to his stomach he grabbed a few of the Top Ramens and was about to leave his room. As he reached the door he realized he nearly forgot an important detail. Quick as he could he found his old flip cell phone and held the call button down for five seconds. Instead of the normal menu a basic interface came up with three contacts. Clicking on the top one he brought the phone to his ear. A few second of no ringing he heard the call connect with a robotic greeting 'Call Encrypted'

"This is Poseidon. I've arrived." Devin's tone was uncharacteristically emotionless as he waited for the reply.

"You have your orders." the robotic voice said after an extended delay.

Devin hung up the call and pocketed the phone. Returning to his original plan he left his room with a forced smile that let way to a real one after he closed his door. A quick knock on his neighbors rooms he waited till Nikki and Kat were done and in the hallway. "Rain check on the home cook awesomeness Kat. I can make this in five minutes flat and for me that is four minutes too slow." He said holding the Top Ramen up for them to see.

@baraquiel Randy turns to Sunny "I apologize for being so forward. Men always seem forced into the first move and well, I'm more of a opportunist, scoping things out and such."

@SpicyMeatball Randy looks at Dominique and backs off of Sunny after he says the words above. "I apologize, no ifs ands or buts. One thing I hate is passive aggressiveness and sorry buts are just the tip of the iceberg." He then takes out his hand and offers it to Dominique. "Let's start over shall we? By the way do you know anything about the special education course?" Randy is sweating profusly realizing he's very much out of his league due to his physical abilities. He looks around to see if anybody, someone can help him out. Astute people would notice he's legitimately scared.

Nikki nodded with a laugh at Devin's comment, knowing it was true, her brothers never knocked and they were too nosy for their own good. "See you both in a few."

Although she would joke about trading them in for two older sisters, Nikki truly wouldn't give up having Finn and Lucas in her life for anything. They were her protectors, her built-in best friends, but most importantly, her brothers were her people. The Dutch girl walked into her quarters, shutting the door behind her, and began to unpack her belongings from the trunk that was placed right in front of her bed.

All in all, Nikki was quite proud of herself for pushing through her anxiousness. Making friends and small talk was always hard for her, especially in situations like this, but Devin and Kat made her feel comfortable, which was not a feeling she expected to have so soon. Maybe this was a sign that being here at the academy was going to help her grow. Pulling some clothes out of the trunk, Nikki began loading things into the dresser. In typical fashion, she didn't know what to pack, so the girl seemed to pack everything and anything she could possibly need.

Tucked neatly between some clothes, she found her two prized picture frames. Propping them on her nightstand, she gazed lovingly at the photographs she had brought. The smiles her family wore in the photos were contagious, one being of her and her parents at her 14th birthday just last year, and the other of her and her brothers on Christmas morning from a few years back. Nikki loved her family with all of her heart, and she knew that although it would be hard being away from them, this was the right move to ensure her future.

Hearing a small knock on the door, the girl didn't hesitate to open it, coming face to face with the Canadian boy. "You kept your word, what a gentleman. Finn and Lucas ought to learn some manners from you." She spoke with a giggle escaping from her lips. "You wouldn't believe it, but I've never tried ramen before. Moeder has never let me have it. Do you know how much sodium is in there? Kat, I think your candy may be healthier than this stuff."

"Aww, that's okay you guys!", Sunny said to Randy and Dominique. Randy's remarks a while ago didn't faze Sunny at all since men were always like that to her during her missions. It's just that she became naturally immune to it as time goes by. However, she doesn't like how arrogant Randy was a while ago either, but Sunny thought he was just cranky due to the trip going here and all so she decided to just let it go.

She replied to Randy. "Well, I was personally not informed by that. Maybe they'll tell us more during our official first day. As much as I want to hang with you guys, I think we're going to be overloaded with academic spy stuff throughout the whole year. That's why we have to avoid fighting as much as possible and try our very best to solve problems in a peaceful and humane manner, okay?", Sunny said to both of them.

Having said that, Sunny pondered about the food she can make from all the ingredients given to them in kitchen. She has a little bit knowledge on how to cook food from other countries but she mostly knows cuisine from her home country. Just thinking about it makes her more excited. This is the perfect opportunity for her to practice her cooking and she can get her classmates to be the taste testers! She made a mental note to take an inventory of the available ingredients in the kitchen and she'll also ask the school officials if it would be possible to ask for some special ingredients as well.

She looked back at the rest of her classmates at the living room when she saw someone unfamiliar to her sitting on the couch. He's definitely good-looking, Sunny will give him that. She's sure most of her co-members at her organization will fawn all over him. "But he's still no match for my Shiro", she thought. Sunny also wondered why she hasn't notice him a while ago either. Maybe because she's too focused on trying to stop Dominique and Randy from fighting that she forgot to greet the rest of the newcomers. She's pretty sure she heard him introduce himself as Jack. Or was it Jackson? Jake? Jasper? John Cena? Oh dear she forgot.

"Hey... dude!", she waved at the newcomer from the kitchen. "Good thinking Sunny! Mental high-five!", she thought to herself. "My name's Sunny! Come join us here!", she said to the newcomer with an eager smile.

"Here Chris, you forgot the milk"

Chris looked up "Thanks Yeh? Otherwise i'd be making egg-bread." He looked round and caught a glance between Sunny and Shiro. "Here, you dudes, sit down and talk i'll make the food." He added two cups of milk and eyeballed a splash more to the beaten eggs. He sprinkled a little salt into the egg-weash. Then opened the fridge, there were two loves of bread, white bread and brown bread. His hand reached out to grasp the brown bread, then it stopped and he thought better of it. Taking out the white bread he placed 12 slices on a plate. He warmed the pan with some butter, because butter. Then began dipping the bread into the egg-wash and pressed it under with a fork. Slowly he began the laborious task of frying one slice then another, both sides and piling them up on a plate. The smell began to permeate the room. His first attempt was a little overcooked, but it improved after consecutive attempts until all the bread was toasted a golden colour He then grabbed two plates and placed them in front of the two sitting down. Then Dominique walked in and sat down and he passed a plate to her silently. He grabbed a fistfull of forks and lay them in a bunch on the table. He then lay down the masterpiece, the leaning tower of gold. He took a fork and speared the top one and put it on a plate for himself. Then he went for the ketchup.

Leaving the room with a fork he said "Tell the others they can have some." He walked back into the other room and cut the bread into four large squares, which he attempted to push onto a fork and dip into ketchup before shovelling them whole into his mouth. He sat down.

Kat smiled at Devin’s comment before she turned to Nikki. “ I feel you Nikki. My entire family has never learned to knock. What’s worse they always spring random training sessions so normal dinner-time can turn into a scene from Mission Impossible real quick.”

Smiling at the both of them, she nodded a quick goodbye before opening the door into her room. She was glad she had run into Devin and Nikki, they were easy to talk to and she was really looking forward to spending the year with them.

Pulled from her musings by the room she couldn’t help but let out a gasp. She had assumed that the room would be a bare bones military-esque room but it was an impressive sight. Although small, the room boasted a closet, under the bed storage, a mirror, a desk and a spacious bed. Considering she was 5’2, the twin sized bed was more than comfortable. Spying a white piece of paper she read through the instructions for the hidden weapons cache and S.P.I.G.A’s gun and weapon requirements before she tested the new storage system out.

With a quick press of a button (fingerprint enabled of course), her mirror slid to the side to reveal a hidden storage unit. She tried to keep her cool, she really did, but this was pretty amazing. How can this place keep getting better? she thought as she ran the pad of her index finger over the velvety smooth lining inside.

Spying her suitcase pushed neatly to one side, she made her way over there and started to pull everything out. Hanging up her uniform in the closet, she stored the rest of her clothes before turning to the personal effects. Placing the photograph she had taken of her family on her 14th birthday a couple months she couldn’t help but smile. This picture was a perfect representation of her family— her mother was laughing at her own joke, loudly and with no pretense. The twins, Angel and Elena, were shoving each other playfully while her father was jokingly eye rolling at whatever her mother had said. Valentina had a large plate of food and was swatting Matias’ attempts to grab an empanada.

Sparing only one more moment to dwell in her homesickness, she turned back to her suitcase and reached for her firearms. She placed both her Glock 36 at eye-level for easy access. These Glocks were the ones she was probably going to be using on most missions. Their custom-fit Jarvis suppressors were kept in a black jewelry bag that she hooked on the peg besides the guns. She had been practicing on these Glocks for the past few years and as such, they felt comfortable in her grip. Her mother had first introduced the Glock 36, the same one she herself carried. She remembered those afternoon training sessions as her mom and her would hole up in the basement with Top 40’s music playing, and snacking as they had gone over the finer details of using firearms and the Glocks.

The next item was her Bren. She lovingly stroked the barrel before she carefully hung it up. A gift given by her grandfather right before she had left for S.P.I.G.A, it was one of the few precious mementos she just had to take with her— regardless of its large size. When she was younger she would sit on her grandpa’s lap and listen, wide-eyed, to his stories of World War II. Of how this gun had saved his life as that soldier had stood over him; ready to shoot. She still shuddered everytime she tried to picture her 16 year-old grandpa, staring down the barrel of a gun— almost certain he was going to die.

She then moved on Pixie, her Hi-Power Browning. This had been her first gun, a gift from her father a couple years ago. Pixie had started her on her love for firearms and since then, she was glad to say she had improved. She remembered being proud as she hit the target, not even close to where she had aimed. She remembered sneaking into the basement and practicing daily. In between her football practice and Model UN, she would come home and work with Pixie. And now here she was. It was still crazy to think that after years of dreaming she was here.

She picked up the books Elena had given her, a mix of books in Spanish, French, English, Russian and Mandarin. Her sister had always been the linguist in her family and had often taken the time to coach Kat. This was most likely her sister's subtle prod to keep practicing. Flipping quickly through the titles as she set up the books she was glad to see some favorites, Gabriel Garcia Marques and Papillon by Henri Charriere, among the heavier tomes of Proust and Chekov.

Setting up her charger, and making sure her phone hadn’t died in the interval, she placed her laptop and grabbed the candy she had promised just as she heard a knock on the door.

She opened the door to reveal Devin and Nikki waiting outside. “Perfect timing! I’ve got the bounty,” she said, imitating a pirate’s accent as she held up a baggie with Chamoy, a bunch of British candy and the best Scottish fudge, Mrs. Tilly’s.
“ Yeah Devin I agree. Although I love cooking, Ramen is always my go-to when I'm tired. Ant normally I’d agree Nikki but Chamoy is probably the best and worst candy. It’s essentially chili and salt that gives you heartburn but it’s so worth it,” she elaborated. “It’s the best way to die, I promise. So try it if you dare,” she challenged Devin and Nikki as a smile quirked her lips.

The trio was now back together after each of them finished unpacked their belongings. Devin lead the way as they made their way to the kitchen where others had come to the same solution for their hunger. He could hear cooking and clacking in the kitchen so he was even more confident ramen was the way to go. 'Too many cooks in the kitchen with this group likely meant too many blades in trained hands' he figured.

After smelling and now seeing the french toast Devin almost reconsidered his plans; but, a short scan informed him that there was no syrup. 'It would be down right unCanadian of me to have one without the other' he thought while Chris put ketchup on his. Recommitting to his ramen plan he got started.

During his sort searched for a pan Devin listened in on the conversations around the kitchen. Some more introductions were taking place as Sunny bound around the room with a smile. 'Her unlimited energy is likely her true special power.' Devin assumed she had traveled ahead of everyone and gotten used to the timezone.

One of the other students said the french toast was for everyone, but Devin couldn't believe that. With only 12 slices and 12 people here he was positive it would take more than one slice to fill anyone up. His mother always said he was a empty pit for food and he lived up to it.

Grabbing a big pot and filling it with some water he then set the water on the stove top and turned it to boil. Tearing off the Top Ramen packaging he then tossed the dry noodles into the water. Leaning back against the kitchen counter he decided to start a new conversation.

"So about what the Headmaster said?" He started. "Anyone have an idea of what sort of challenges we are going to have thrown at us?" He spoke openly. Looking at anyone who heard him. Considering no one in his family had been to the school he didn't have any second hand experience to go off of. His mother warned him that was the most dangerous missing piece of information.

Shiro was quickly brought back to reality. There were people here, he would have to pay attention at least until he returned to his room. Looking back down to Earth, several more people had joined him in the kitchen. A rather cute redhead called out to him, French accent clear as day. Dominique, was it? Shiro shrugged. “I was going to make something, but it looks everybody else has it under control.” As per Chris, the blonde one’s, suggestion, Shiro shifted away from the stovetop, instead taking a seat on a kitchen chair next to Sunny, content to sit on the sidelines for now.

Shiro heard Devin mention something about challenges. He spoke up, turning his attention away from his occasional glances at Sunny towards the Canadian teen. “Admittedly, my dad didn't tell me all that much, but I know that they drop you in, like, actual spy missions. In the real world,” Shiro, said. “Other than that, though, don’t really know. Guess we’re just going to have to wing it.”

AJ plopped back down on the couch, casually glancing over at Garret as he went on about refraining from watching much TV and staying locked away in his room here in the dorms. He'd probably be doing a lot of reading there...or at least, that's what she assumed. There certainly was something odd about Garret and how someone like him, who could very well be displaying some antisocial qualities, would go through the trouble of initiating a conversation with her. Not that she minded, but something seemed off, especially since he appeared to be indecisive on how to move forward with their conversation.

"I'm here because I hacked my way into their system and made a recommendation on behalf of myself that I be invited this term," AJ said matter-of-factly before cracking a smile. "Or I just happen to be really good with computers and they see something in me," she continued, avoiding going into detail. As she spoke, AJ notice the others slowly heading into the kitchen.

"Want to grab a bite?" she motioned, not having realized before just how hungry she was.
