Yeah but he's not active enough to implement such a change, it would most likely take a lot of endless coding to make a GM-changing system. He'd probably have to rewrite some of the forum's code, too.

I have not looked at the backend of the Guild, but it may be as simple as updating a value in a database. It depends on how Mahz implemented GMs.

How can we know for sure the coding of RPG is as organised as we expect? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We don't. However, I would be hesitant to call it "more likely" to be unorganized.

He has changed a GM in the past on request. Its actually a simple change. Replace userid for first post.

A tool for changing it would be more complex, though.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to, implementing an actual GM-changing system. Changing GMs himself is easy enough but making an interface and function for regular users to do it would be considerably harder.

Since Mahz is in hibernation again, I'll give you the moderately short answer: no. There's not a function to change the GM of a thread, you'll either have to ask the new GM to make the thread all over again, or just Co-GM them and tell the players they're technically the GM.

Thank you :) I know that there is currently no way to change the original GM, this is me trying to put yet another request on Mahz's already over-crowded to-do list.

lol

we can be 100% sure it is not organized at all because as has been stated a trillion times before, it was made by mahz from the ground up which means there is no uniform method of organizing the code (or rather, organizing it by blocks). in fact, as far as i know, this has created large problems before because, while this allows the code from mahz to be versatile as hell and for him to add in (virtually (get it? virtual?)) anything he desires within the limitations of his coding capabilities, it also means that if you change something there is a risk of fucking everything coming down crashing.

it's for that reason why most 'simple' things end up being less simple on the guild. a point of frustration for me but i can see the benefits from mahz' side.

again this is to my knowledge and how i've had it explained to me a few times before - whether it is reality or not i couldn't tell, but the code for RPG is open source and you can look at whatever you wanna look at here to confirm it for yourself

i wouldn't count on it being up to date, but yknow, that's a pervasive and ever present problem on RPG. the github is probably interesting to @LegendBegins too so you can see the backend (or one version of it).

Co GM's can edit the 0th post although that is probably not what you are lookin for as it creates unnecessary work for you.

That would be really nice considering I had set aside some time this Sunday to work on things I am overdue on posting with.

I still need to remove the "expect performance issues" header.

I've been procrastinating it because I had to apply some hacks when I was at the beach to fix the guild during the downtime issues. I think it will require some downtime again to remove the banner so that I can remove some of those hacks that let me deploy code at that time.

It's been a while since I touched the forum's source code. The code base is pretty large. It has numerous nary-traveled nooks that rarely see the light of day, and it's littered with corridors that are started and never finished, as if @Ellri's construction gnomes simply lost interest. Frequently I'll follow some code, think "oh cool, we have this feature?", only for it to soon terminate in a gnomish comment: "TODO: finish this".*

I've been working on improving the Persistent World system to prepare for the new one.

Until now, there wasn't even a way to hide/unhide forums. The old PW forums are now hidden from the homepage, but you can still visit them directly if you have the link.

I'm also introducing a new staff role, Persistent World Mod, which of course will have privs in PW forums.

Ideally, the staff would be able to create/hide/edit forums themselves but it's tricky to build that sort of interface at the moment and I currently have to do it directly in the database.

* Whimsicalizing a situation with gnomes is always a useful coping mechanism. Damn gnomes!

someone forgot to leave enough innocent souls out to feed them. Thus the construction gnomes stopped doing as you originally hired them to do. Did you expect them to work for free?

I've been patching various long-standing bugs in the Guild software today and will continue working on it through the week.

If anyone has any issues or quality-of-life improvements that have been on their mind as they use the forum, feel free to let me know here, on Discord, or via PM.

I could work full-time on the Guild for 100 years and never run out of work, so hearing actual requests from yall helps me prioritize.

Maybe I'll even have time to land a large feature, not sure yet. But there are plenty of papercuts for me to fix. Either way it's been a while since I checked in on this thread.

@Mahz

Good to see you again, Mahz! Though not so much in the realm of feature requests, there's the bug we've discussed on Skype.

More in the realm of feature requests, an easy account-switcher would prove to be an incredibly useful tool.
I also ran across these concepts from this thread by accident a few days ago. It might be an interesting thing to revisit, be it per-account or per-RP.
