The year was 1991, and during the month of March just after the release of the second Ninja Turtles film an organization abducted nine individuals. From all across the world, the nine were chosen for a secret experiment to finally dissolute the U.S.S.R. as well as defeat the enigmatic antagonist called the Skull who was helping the Soviets. After the U.S.S.R. fell the nine individuals would be used in an attempt to end the Gulf War before it started. However when the truth about their origins were revealed to be lies they fled in hopes to pick up normal lives again and hide in society once more. They were now somewhat immortal, man fused with machine: Cyborgs. Each possessed a power unique only to themselves and over the course of the next twenty-seven years many of them would band together to stop world threatening enemies. They stayed one step ahead of the world governments since they no longer knew who they could trust.
They were made to be stronger, faster, and more durable than humans. When the internet became a bigger deal in the year 1995 and technology for humanity was on a rise, the nine cyborgs discovered the truth. They were not cyborgs from birth or volunteers in the program that created them, but normal people from across the world abducted by a man in a skull mask. The scientist that augmented them and gave them abilities (Doctor Wells) found out about their ties to the Skull. How he chose the nine people and why is still a mystery.
When the nine cyborgs stopped operating under the U.N. in the Middle East, they tried to hide within society and live the lives that were already taken from them. Some of them had success in becoming somewhat human again, while others found more problems in their respective countries. For nearly three decades the nine would come together, usually just a few at a time, to deal with the most random of occurrences. Giant mecha robots in Japan? They stopped it from becoming a problem. The mutated fifty-foot tall gorilla in New York? Cyborgs 002 as well as 006 took care of that one. The U.N. wouldn’t continue without replacing the cyborgs. A group of elite soldiers were issued mecha suits to put them on par with some of the cyborgs and called the Guardians. They operate out of something like a smaller scale SHIELD heli-carrier and protect the countries affiliated with the U.N. Depending on their orders the Guardians have been known to be both ally and enemy to the cyborgs in the past.
Now the nine cyborgs have been brought together once more despite a number of them living normal lives in society. A cyborg from the future time traveled back to the present, the year 2018, to warn the nine of a new enemy capable of absorbing them and their powers that’s become a real problem in the future overthrowing entire countries. The evil cyborg was called Adam, and he absorbed the cyborg from the future and his power before he could make it back to his time period. How will the nine cyborgs defeat an enemy who can become ten of himself? And who’s the guy claiming to be the new Skull taking credit for making Adam?
If this looks similar to the Cyborg 009 concept, it’s because it’s basically my attempt at modernizing it a bit and stepping away from all of the history dating back to the 60’s. The premise is still the same. Nine cyborgs with spiffy suits complete with cool yellow scarves protecting the world from only God knows what. After reading up on a lot of the history of Cyborg 009 I tried coming up with an enemy unlike anything they’d faced. The inspiration for Adam came from the popular Dragonball Z character Cell.
The idea is we will begin with hopefully 9 players. Any dropouts would of course be absorbed by Adam in-game. There’s plenty of ways to go with a character and I hope some of you take the chance and make cyborgs from around the world. I’ve gotta stick with what I know and make mine from the USA, but even in the original series there was a white American as well as a Native American cyborg among the group. I’ll be honest and admit I JUST got into this concept a few days ago, and was lucky enough to find the newest series on Netflix. I highly recommend this series if you’re looking for something a little different. I generally try superhero themed RP’s but I hope to get something else like this that’s a little more sci-fi off the ground. If there’s enough interest I’ll post up a Character Sheet model. It’ll be a bit different than the Sheets I generally make for my superhero RP’s, but that’s just because there’s so much more to these cyborgs.
So, little bit Terminator and a little bit Astro Boy. Who’s with me?
