I added some background on Cyterius' home region on his CS, also tweaked the history and personality section a bit to add a couple extra details. I considered adding more detailed descriptions in his history section but I figured that might make things a bit too long, and I can always reveal the finer details of his history over the course of RP through player interactions and monologues, heh
@Rultaos that actually reminds me @MagratheanWhaleI was thinking of adding a bit of a lore section on my race with a hides, would that be ok? Just to give some more insight to it. Was also going to adjust the height as I didn't realize how tall 4' is (I'm 6'2" so for me that was super short apparently it should be more abt 3'6")
So plains elf is the name I gave them as I wasn't sure exactly how intellectual property rights work as the actual races name is owned by a company. They are essentially very short elven like creatures who are very adept with magic amd when their magic cities began to fall they retreated to 1 of 2 places either the barren desert like lands (dunesfolk) or the plains and island like lands (plainsfolk)
@Trainerblue192 I'm pretty sure you can use that name as long as you're not making money off of it. Especially considering there's so many fandom or fanfic RP's in this site already. Using an existing lore name shouldn't be too bad. I mean, half of the lore stuff I come up with and give names to has probably already been used in the past, so it's no big deal as long as you're not making money off of someone else's work.
@Trainerblue192 I can't speak for the others, but personally I've always enjoyed playing a normal-ish character with not-so-powerful abilities, because I like getting creative with what I have and trying to find ways for them to get on the same level with others who are objectively stronger, despite their lack of powers by using their heads and fighting smartly ^_^
@Rultaos Very true. That's kinda how I feel about magic, I like it because I enjoy trying to find unconventional ways of using it and doing things a bit out of norm. I also especially love hydromancy because water magic is typically thought to be the healing magic and i prefer to use it as a devastating force instead
I tend to stay away from magic because it feels too easy...it's like being in an rp with a gun, point, click, boom. Hell if anything I actually make it impossible for my characters to even USE magic >.>
Alright everyone, I have begun working on the IC based on the characters present, those approved that have not been posted, as well with the character ideas discussed in PM. I said earlier I hoped for Wednesday but that may not work, I envision closer to the weekend.
Name: Gilead “Gil” Davidian Gender: Male Age: 23 Race: Half-Elf
Gil is 5’10” and has the build of a swordfighter. He’s lean, lithe and muscular, making him extremely agile, even in full plate armor. He has short brown hair, which he has recently refrained from cutting and typically grows his beard for two months before shaving it again. He bares a few scars from his days as a mercenary but his worst are three claw marks on his left arm, which he received from a duel with a deadly dragonborn assassin. Gil is also somewhat of an anomaly considering he’s a lefthanded fencer and carries his shield on his right arm.
Personality: Gilead is a fun-loving, sarcastic kid. He tends to make friends with everyone he meets, however, his friendliness should not be mistaken for naivety. He knows when to take a situation seriously and he should never be underestimated.
History: Gilead was born in a small village in the West. His father, a human, was a Scout in the local lord’s militia while his elven mother was the handmaiden to the Lord’s wife, hence Gilead’s notable sense of propriety. His mother was also a dabbler in Magic, teaching Gil some of her skills, while his father was teaching him swordplay. Plague took both of Gil’s parents when he was 13. At this point, he became a wanderer, honing his skills and taking odd jobs, until a mercenary band found him. He stayed with them for five years, learning from them and fighting with them. He made somewhat of a reputation for himself as one of the most deadly and fierce fighters of the last century. It was this reputation that drew the attention of the Inquisition to him. An Elven Inquisitor by the name of Veron, saw Gilead in action as Gilead singlehandedly slew a group of 10 bandits, who were assaulting a woman on the road. Veron told Gilead how the Inquisition could use men like him, and to Gil, the Blight was just another plague, except this one, he could actually fight. After two years with the Inquisition, Gil is one of the newest members and the mission to the City of Ash is his first real taste of field action without his mentor, Veron. However, he hopes that his skills and experience will allow him to rise through the ranks quickly and not get himself or anyone else killed.
Blightsbane is a bastard sword that was wielded by Gilead’s Elven Grandfather, who fought during the Blight War.
Armor: Gil’s armor consists of gambeson, padded chausses, an arming cap, a chainmail hauberk and coif, and blackened steel plate cuirass, pauldrons, bracers, greaves and a visored barbute helmet.
The standard blue cloak of the Inquisition.
Magic: Gil knows a few basic spells but he is, by no means, a mage.
I am nearing the half-way mark for the first post! I may not be able to get up by Saturday but I will try my best, I have a bit of an unforgiving work stretch ahead.
