It was not long before Lance returned her gaze. The eye contact was soon followed by an explanation, and Tawny was surprised by his smile. So he had somehow known how Lucas felt about Naomi. Either that, or she was the one who had not been observant from the start. Regardless, with everything else going on, she was at least glad to be able to start a conversation with one of her friends instead of having to just awkwardly listen in. She had always thought Lance was pretty cool. Despite his tendency to be blunt, she could see that he really cared about his friends.

"I don't know about less weird, but it's definitely interesting to see," she stated in response to his question. She then returned his smile. "It was... rather sweet of you to give him that encouragement."

In another part of the temple ruins a light mist started to slowly creep out of a large golden bowl that suddenly lit itself with a blue flame that as the night wore on the mist spread out among the temple ruins and with it a song that put all who herd it to sleep as the gateway doors that normally are part of the wall they was made into slowly started to open once the moon was at it's highest point the students within the temple were sucked into the gateway as a pale beam of light shot out of the temple sending the students on their way to it's sister gate.

"DORIYAAAAA!"

As a wolf lunged at him Donny thrust with his shovel, slicing into it's side. The beast leap back wounded but not dead. Two more wolves came right at him but Donny was on the defensive. His shield foiled ones trike and he had made a sweeping but short swipe with his shovel to dissuade the other. The rest of the wolves were trying to circle Donny including the alpha, but Donny never stayed in one spot long enough to let them surround him. He knew their tactics; he had injured enough of them that they couldn't overwhelm him with speed alone. But he needed to land more decisive blows. The two wolves he has injured were still capable enough to fight him. Despite all his yelling and fighting spirit he hasn't managed to scare off the wolves either. He needed to make himself a bigger threat.

Off behind him something strange was happening at the temple. He was blithely aware of it, but couldn't divert his concentration from the wolves in front of him. Another one lunged and this time Donny went for a more lethal blow, slicing right into the wolf's neck. He fell to the ground howling in pain and bleeding from his wound. However Donny had little time to celebrate as the alpha charged. Donny tried to intercept with his shovel but the beast was too fast, and the best he could've done was raise his shield. It helped but the wolf grabbed his guard in it's giant, powerful maw, tossing it and Donny against a wall. His shield had shattered from the throw and the wolves descended onto him. He slashed two, but another one bit into his leg. He took out his knife and slashed at it which got the wolf to let go to avoid getting cut, and giving Donny time to stand. But now he was without a shield, surrounded, and outnumbered.

"Come on you sons of bitches. I don't have all day..."

Naomi fell to sleep leaning against Reina and Lucas against her so she passed the night in relative warmth so it was with some surprise she woke to find Lucas using her chest as his pillow and was just trying to figure out how to wake him without embarrassing him or herself when she heard; "Come on you sons of bitches. I don't have all day..."

It was a voice she didn’t recognize but the challenging tone was unmistakable as was the anger. This caused her to bolt up from her position Lucas’s head sliding down her body to rest atop her folded slip which she’d been kneeling on till a moment ago.

Normally she would have apologized but she didn’t have time to waste as she grabbed one of the thicker limbs she and Reina had collected and sped towards the sound. If she hadn’t been so worried she might have noticed that she was moving faster than she had ever moved. She found herself quickly looking over the scene of a wolf pack attack on a spiky haired guy she had never seen before.

Maybe she should have thought over her next action but the bloody wound he had told her that if she delayed he might be farther injured so with a challenging shout she leapt into the fray smacking the nearest wolf as hard as she could with her makeshift weapon.

Lucas was about to say something to Typhon, but suddenly he felt himself drifting off. He awoke with a start when Naomi, whom he had apparently been sleeping on, suddenly leapt up and took off. He got up and went after her, calling out "What's going on Naomi!?" not realizing he too was moving much faster than normal. He also hadn't noticed the pointy ears he was now sporting.

He too saw the boy fighting the wolves, and then Naomi running at one with a piece of wood. He looked around and found a couple pebbles he began chucking at the wolves.

Tawny did not remember dozing off, but the next time she had woken, it was to shouting, growling, and other sounds of struggle. She did not have time to process very much before a couple of her friends had taken off towards wherever the sounds were coming from. She hastily scrambled to her feet and bolted after them, wanting for them to stick together. She was stunned when they had gotten to the source of the commotion - a stranger attempting to fight off a pack of wolves. No doubt the entire situation was extremely unusual, but it was not the time to be asking any questions.

Before she knew it, Tawny had found herself in the middle of the chaos along with her friends who had begun attacking the ferocious animals. One of the wolves had turned its attention to the girl, making a headlong charge at her and tackling her to the ground before she could react.

"Ah! No!" She instinctively shielded her face, expecting to be mauled by the savage canine.

That did not happen, however. She opened her eyes, watching as the wolf stepped off of her while she sat up. She then shakily stood, confused at the animal that currently sat with its eyes fixed on her. It seemed to be... expecting something from her. Somehow, Tawny then felt compelled to say what she said next, though the reason why was way beyond her.

She locked eyes with the wolf, pointing to the frenzy. "M- Make them stop."

Immediately, the wolf turned and darted back into the fight, this time turning on the pack and attacking the other wolves. Tawny could only stare in astonishment at what had just happened. With one of the wolves on their side, she hoped it would help at least a little.

"Owie~" Reina says sitting up rubbing her head having hit it on the floor when Naomi bolted before blinking and looking around and seeing a temple not unlike the ruins they had fallen asleep in but it was still in pristine condition.
"Where.." Reina bolted up when she herd Tawny scream before she starts running towards where Tawny's scream came from putting the mystery of the temple in the back of her mind for now only to stop short as she witnesses Tawny seemingly turn the wolf attacking her into an ally and got it to attack the other wolves.
"Huh?" was all Reina could say as she blinks then rubs her eyes hoping that this was just a very odd dream because this was just to unreal.

Lance chuckles in response to Tawny's last comment. "Sweet huh? I..." his sentence is interrupted as his he yawns heavily. "I... I dunno... if I'd say... that." Each segment broke out by persistent yawning. Serving as the last thing he'd remember before passing out.

Lance flinches as he wakes up, face down on the floor, his eye's scanning over with blurred vision as he turns his head. It appeared by the time he awoke that most of the others had gone somewhere. He manages to catch a glimpse of someone bolting off into another area as he rolls over onto his back stretching out. As he lazily sits up he looks around once more "Odd, this place seemed older before..." he mumbled incoherently to himself as he got up on his feet.

With little other choice he headed over in the direction of the last person he saw leaving the room, though with a certain lack of urgency in comparison to themselves. "What the hell..." Was all he was able to say at the sight before him a pack of wolves seeming fighting amongst themselves along with Naomi, who seemed to be trying to beat them away with a stick. Lance looked round, there seemed little else to use as a weapon as he raised a torch from the temple walls holder, circling around as much as he could before dashing over to the injured person. "Get up!" Lance said his back to the person as he glanced over his shoulder at them. His attention was quickly grabbed back by the blood thirsty growl of one of the wolves, as it lunged forward toward him Lance snapped the torch across its nose as the wolf yelped, before being pounced upon by the rogue wolf that seemed to be trying to hold off the others. "Come on hurry up." Lance said extending his hand to the injured fellow to assist him up to his feet.

Things were looking bad and worse for Donny as he weakly tried to fend off the wolves as best as he could. His back was against the wall, only one of the wolves were incapacitated, and the alpha was still kicking. Donny hoped that maybe he could get a luck shot off the big one, but he was wisely staying back to let his underlings weaken Donny. He was about to make a suicidal charge for the dire wolf when suddenly a stranger came to help him. Certainly not a regular woodsman; any local would at least have a axe or a dagger handy. This girl came in swinging a branch, and not even a very big one. But she wasn't alone and soon more joined her, helping however they could with sticks or stones. Donny would've felt embarrassed having his saviors being armed so crudely, but right now he couldn't complain about getting help.

The wolves seemed just as surprised as Donny was at the back up, one of them even turning against the pack. Donny didn't question this strange reaction from the beast and stood up with the help of a torch-wielding stranger. "Thank you. We have to take out the dire wolf! If he flees so will the rest of the pack. Here take this!" Donny handed the torch-bearer his shortsword, fending off overs until he could get to the other side of the battlement where the boy tossing pebbles was at. "Seriously, pebbles? I hope you know how to use this!" Donny dropped his shortbow and arrows at the boy's feet just as a wolf lunged at the two of them. Donny caught the wolf and blacked it's bite with the shaft of his shovel, shoving it back to give them some space.

"Aim for the big one! DORIYAAA!" Donny charged right for the dire wolf who seemed to be anticipating the attacks. He lunged right at him, but the wolf dodged Donny easily and swiped with his claws. This in turn put Donny on the defensive, but now he had the wolf's attention, hopefully giving everyone else an opening to land some solid blows.

Naomi should have been surprised by the fact that the stick she'd swung sent the wolf she'd hit staggering off after it had yelped in pain but she didn't have the time to because another was almost on top of her and her makeshift weapon was broken by her first attack. Her only response was to sidestep and grab a hunk of its mane then execute a hip toss which worked wonderfully because it sent the animal flying to crash on the temple stones.

When she recovered and brought up her hands in the ready position Naomi was again surprised because each of her hands were glowing as if on fire which she somehow knew made them as lethal as any weapon.

Lucas was shocked at how accurate his throws with the rocks were, hitting a few of the wolves and sending them scampering in pain. He also noticed Naomi's fists glowing. "Just what is going on here!?" he asked.

Tawny snapped out of her shock when they were joined by more of their friends. Reina and Lance had arrived, the latter heading straight for the stranger to aid him while the others continued with their attacks. The stranger, after he was helped up, instructed them to attack the alpha of the pack. He then proceeded to supply a couple of her friends with actual weapons. Wait, what? How did she not notice he had all that stuff on him before? Why would he even have those strange things on him?

It was then when she realized - they were not where they had been when they had fallen asleep, and the temple they had come running from did not look like the one they had sought shelter in form the rain. She would have time to think about that later. They all would, for they had to first deal with the problem at hand. Take out the alpha? Recalling what she had done earlier, that gave her an idea. She was not sure if it would work, but it was worth a try.

The pack was getting worn out, slowly but surely. She snapped her fingers at the wolf that had done her bidding before, and was fascinated yet again when it turned to look at her. Immediately, she pointed at the large wolf which had its attention on the stranger. The smaller one on her side let out a growl and leaped onto its leader, ferociously biting and clawing the larger canine.

Lance is taken aback as the stranger hands him a sword, why was this guy carrying this around anyway? Lance takes a moment as his looks at the blade, such a strange choice of weapon. He runs the tip of one of his fingers against the edge instantly cutting it open as he quickly withdraws it and sucks on the freshly caused wound. "Jeez that's sharp, this guy's a loony..." Lance mumbled to himself.

He didn't exactly have time to spare however as the stranger charges at the largest wolf in the pack inciting the others to do the same. With a sigh and shake of his head, Lance heeds the call as he avoids engaging with the smaller wolves in the pack heading straight for the Alpha's flank. As the stranger had the beast's attention, it allowed an opportunity as Lance tried to strike at the creatures side. The blade however barely broke the creatures skin though the dripping blood proved it had done something as he drops the torch to the ground, kicking it over to the beasts hind paws as he pushes his now second free hand against the hilt trying to force the blade deeper into the wolf's abdomen.

His less than subtle strike however was now beginning to re-divert the wolf's attention as it turned its head growling angrily at its would be attacker. "he..heheh." Lance nervously smiles before doubling his effort pushing his full weight into the sword as he tries to get a secure footing on the ground, hoping the stranger would drag the wolfs attention back to himself.

Donny's struggle bore fruit as one of the other strangers drove the blade into the side of the wolf. Not very deep, but it was a valiant effort. And more importantly showed the dire wolf that Donny was not alone. It backed off and Donny was ready for round two, but instead it signaled for a retreat, with most of the pack fleeing with their alpha, sans the ones that were too wounded or for some reason on their side. Donny was still huffing and ready for a fight but once the wolves were all gone the pain hit him all at once. He's pretty sure he had some broken ribs or at least a super sore back, not to mention the big bite in his leg, and his shield arm was bloodied and bruised. But he was alive, thanks to these strangers.

Going back to pick up his bow, Donny looked to the other folk. Their clothes were rather odd, not a design he's ever seen before. Colorful too. They handled themselves well yet at the same time seemed lost. He wondered if they were just a bunch of noble kids who stumbled onto him. Again however, despite whatever lack of skill they had they saved Donny. He couldn't deny that and was grateful for it, so he bowed his head to them as he leaned against his shovel. "Thank you. I would've been prey if y'all didn't come help me. But What are y'all doing out here in the sticks?" It was then that Donny also began to realize just how late it was. His lantern was still brightly lit, but he didn't want everyone out here for too long, less more wolves or worse accost them.

"Name's Donny. We probably shouldn't stick around here for long, unless y'all wanna fight more wolves. My home is nearby, I think I might have enough space for all of you."

Regardless if they followed or not Donny went home and prepared for guest. The place was... Always a bit messy, but moving some things around and bringing out the rug, and some old pillows, he at least had the place semi-presentable for guest. As presentable as a peasant can get anyways. He also worked on some potato stew and toast. He wasn't sure about the others but he was starving.

Reina was looking confused at the guy Donny then back at the temple they came out of then at their surroundings.
"I don't think we're in Kansas anymore" Reina says as a way to across that they was not where they originally was.

"Indeed." Lucas said, looking around. He didn't notice it before, but it seemed his eyesight had sharpened since he woke up. He could see a lot more clearly, and much farther than he could before. His body also felt a lot more nimble. What he didn't notice, though the others could plainly see, was that he was now sporting a pair of pointed elf ears.

Naomi was so relieved when the wolves retreated then the young man she didn't know and was most certainly not part of her group spoke and pointed out that night was falling soon which struck her as odd because she had just spent the night in the temple.

He thanked them then asked why they were where they were followed by introduction of himself and an offer

"Name's Donny. We probably shouldn't stick around here for long, unless y'all wanna fight more wolves. My home is nearby, I think I might have enough space for all of you."

The tall girl looked at him then said in a sweet and gentle tone

Nice to meet you Donny I am Naomi Goodbody and I am sure we could use the shelter till the morning as well as a bit of information concerning our present location and the surrounding area

Naomi's tone and use of language was precise and carried an almost regal air as she spoke her amber eyes studying him a moment before she followed Donny to what was a small but pleasant cottage whose thatched roof reminded her of those around her family manor back home.

When they stepped inside she noticed that no matter the age Bachelors homes were always in disarray.

Is there anything I might help you with Donny? Naomi asked him

Lucas followed Naomi to the cottage and slipped inside as well.

Donny fried up some eggs on a pan when he heard the girl called Naomi speak. The way she spoke definitely seemed like a regal accent, confirming Donny's (false) suspicion that they were nobility. He honestly felt rather embarrassed at how shoddy his place was. If he had thought about having guest, or even just a nice lady friend, he'd at least make the place look presentable. Meekly he bowed but shook his head. "Much obliged for what you've already done for me, Lady Naomi. I know this place is... Well it's a dump, but I promise that in thanks for your help, I'll do my best to accommodate you. And answer your questions the best I can."

Donny set up a small table at the center for everyone to gather around. And there he laid out today's dinner: egg on rye with a bowl of potato soup. He wished he could give them something with more substance or taste, but alas all he had for protein was wild goose eggs. Hunting hasn't been very successful what with all the wolves driving off the typical game, and the wolves themselves weren't always safe to eat. On the bright side he did have something for dessert: more sweet bread. Granted he only had three, including the one he was carrying with him, but they were warm and crispy thanks to being baked over the fire. As for drinks he gave everyone a wooden cup and a clay pitcher of clean water.

"Well... S'far as where we are, we're in my house. I'm part of a lil village called Wayward. We ain't really an important village, we ain't even on the map apparently. Or so I've been told. Not a good thing neither. The area around here has been dangerous since some war started, far off from the village. The lord has taken most of the fighting age men and left our village defenseless. We've been getting more wolves as you could tell, as well as thieves and robbers. Honestly.... Y'all came at a bad time. Village ain't doing so well, and most of the folk have either moved to the city or turned to robbery themselves. Some of us of course try to stick with honest living, but it ain't easy when cheats and scoundrels take the fruit of our labor."
