Here you go, my dudes. I see I am tardy to the mass acceptance party, that seems appropriate.
Name:
Takayuki Yamada — though his friends & family often call him just ‘Taka’
Gender:
Male
Orientation:
Closeted Male-leaning Bisexual
Age:
14
Blood:
Half-blood — both of his parents are magical, but he has some nijū family
Style:
Takayuki hasn’t quite grown into himself yet. As a young teen, he is still mostly knees and elbows, without a whole lot of weight to him. His thin, petite frame allows him to being exceptionally fast on a broomstick and, because of this, he isn’t all that eager to grow up physically. Speed is more important than size when it comes to his role in Quidditch. As for fashion, Taka dresses sensibly in comfortable, often athletic, clothing of muted colors, like grays and pale blues or greens. Taka generally blends in with the crowd, rather than sticking out, and he prefers it that way.
Background:
Although Taka was not placed in Ka like his father was, he is, for all intents and purposes, a jock. He does not carry himself like other jocks, he has a modest, quiet type of confidence — at least that is true outside of the Pitch. During practices and games, Takayuki’s competitive spirit out rivals many of his classmates, but he keeps his sports rivalries in the Pitch where they belong... for the most part. With his flying and Seeking skills, he could easily back up an egotistical personality, but he is surprisingly calm and peaceful by nature. This is likely the influence of his mother in his upbringing.
During his parents’ time at Mahoutokoro, they were the unlikely jock and nerd couple. His father, Ginjiro, was a star Seeker for the Ka house. His mother, Mieko, was a reserved, bookish Chi student with a passion for herbology. The pair fell in love within the halls of Mahoutokoro and married shortly after graduating. Ginjiro went on to play Quidditch on a professional level, as many star Mahoutokoro players do, while Mieko runs a magical plant nursery and shop in the area that most students purchase their supplies for the school year.
Takayuki grew up learning the traditional Japanese values of honor, hard work, determination, practice, and study. Ginjiro bought his son a broom and taught him how to fly it before Taka even stepped foot into Mahoutokoro. Taka learned the rules and regulations, and even practiced playing Quidditch with his pro father, before trying out for his house’s team. His skills are not entirely learned, as flying and Quidditch came freakishly naturally to young Taka. Seeking is in his blood, and he both loves the sport and competes with his entire heart, in the hopes of making his father proud.
While Taka inherited his passion for Quidditch from his father, he inherited his desire to learn and grow intellectually from his mother. Mieko was a fantastic witch, smashing the stereotype that nijū-born witches and wizards are inferior. Taka isn’t even close to being a fantastic wizard… but he sure as heck is trying to be! He wants to make his mother proud as well, so he will spend as much time in the library, with tutors, and practicing spells after class as he needs to in order to get it right. Someday casting spells and charms will come as easily as flying does, at least that’s the hope!

House:
Fū
Year:
Third
Robe:
Sunrise Orange
Electives:
- Calligraphy
- Talisman Craft
Favorite Class:
Charms — He isn’t very good at casting charms yet, but he wants to be! He puts the most effort into this class, and his favorite spell is Avis, the bird-conjuring charm.
Least Favorite Class:
Transfiguration — Wow, it’s way too difficult. Far too much room for error in the magic department, and Taka isn’t the best at casting spells yet, which can lead to some catastrophic consequences.
Extracurriculars:
Seeker for the Fū Quidditch team. This is a remarkable feat for a third year but, like his father, Taka is quite remarkable in the Quidditch Pitch. He hopes to make Captain someday!
Wand:
Japanese Beech Wood ⥈ Unicorn Hair Core ⥈ 11 inches ⥈ Reasonably Supple Flexibility
Pet:
Yuuna — A northern pika (Japanese guinea pig)
Miscellaneous:
- Is easily startled/spooked/frightened, and will likely jump or shriek if you surprise him.
- For a wizard, he is pretty terrible at magic. He may need to do some tutoring… if anyone is offering.
- Flys a Kamikaze 3000 (Japanese equivalent to a Firebolt), which was an extravagant gift from his father after he made Seeker on the Fū Quidditch team.
- FC: Yuzuru Hanyu
- Color: A78D84
