Alder Reynolds.

The cafe was quaint and cozy, the atmosphere warm and inviting. The smells were instantly pleasant, overall, he really liked the place. It was hard not to like such a comforting atmosphere and he tried to take it all in. It was very colorful, in a way it was not unlike the school itself. The seat that Sierra had chosen backed her against the wall, he couldn't help feeling that it might have been a strategic choice.

More of that feralness, a wolf amongst humans. She was cornering herself so that nothing could get her from behind. She didn't want to be surprised, he understood the appeal of preventive measures but not here. For once in his life, he felt relatively safe here. He had his wariness about being surrounded in so many oddities but, mostly, he was pretty sure that he was safe.

He took his seat across from her, his movements fluid and easy.
He naturally had a very open posture about him, he leaned back, he rested his arms on the table in a relaxed position and he carefully looked the werewolf over. Despite her edginess, she seemed to like him so far. He was glad that he hadn't scared her off yet and he was hoping to keep it that way. He'd had a bad track record of annoying wolves.

Perhaps there was something inherent about werewolves disliking vampires. As much as he liked animals, he often found that animals didn't like him very much. It might have had something to do with him smelling dead, he'd have to ask someone about that sometime. He never remembered having much issue with animals as a human, Amaranth would know. Strange how he was managing so well without her, it made something sting in the back of his mind.

He focused his thoughts on the wolf before him. She had something about her that he found interesting, she was very different than what he was used to. It hadn't taken him long to find familiarity in her company though. Sierra was likeable, of that he was sure. He wanted to be her friend, he hoped he didn't screw this up.

"Right," he said, voice brightening considerably at the thought of quizzing her about her species. "You're the first werewolf who's ever really given me the time of day, it's kind of amazing, honestly. I always wanted to learn more about your kind."

He leaned forward on his elbows, his blue eyes inquisitive. "What was your pack like? How are positions decided in packs? I've always been very curious of that, does it work the same as wolves in the wild? Is it more complex than that? Was your alpha kind- unless you were the alpha, were you the alpha? If not, could you ever be an alpha?"

Alisdair

Alisdair smiled as the woman came rushing up, he was already winning this little game of his, little did she know that she was playing into it herself. She spoke with an accent that sounded old, and the word she used was unfamiliar, Teuanyolki, it wasn't a language he was familiar with and was glad as she expanded, but sadly she would be mistaken. She believes him to be of some kinship with her people, but the Scholars are decidedly not of her descendant path, no, but the odd similarity between them was still something he wished to explore, just as she apparently did as she, as his hand was pulled toward her and she studied the charms on his hand.

"A charm for flight, crafted by a Scholar. I believe you have me mistaken, we are of no blood, I am one of the Scholars of the City, here to assist as needed." His coal black eyes seemingly fixed on the woman, yet his face stoic as stone, like many of the Scholars. Among the many charms he had a feather of gold and red, a lizard scale, and a strange fang.

Alisdair took back his hand and covered the charms, not to give her too much that she would lose interest too soon, he wanted to learn what she had to offer in terms of skills, but he wanted to make her tell him, not ask outright, they always tell more when they want to talk. "I am surprised to honestly be mistaken for anything but a Scholar, how refreshing, if you would like to a charm like these I can provide, though Scholars tend to be the only ones capable of utilizing them." he hoped that the veiled challenge would provoke the woman into either explaining herself and the assumed connection or cause a reaction to where she felt the need to display her own power.

Nenetl

Even technically being over 400 years old, Nenetl was still a 19 years old girl herself and even the smallest thought that someone could be related to her by blood sparked up her curiosity, so she simply wasn't thinking about even being careful around him. After all, he was a scholar and he didn't seem to want to hurt her or anything.

"Flight...?" Nenetl said, looking at the feathered charm on his wrist curiously.

Did he mean he could summon the spirits of the wind with that charm? Without an offering? Nenetl preferred to do so her way, as it was the natural order of the spiritual world. You should always give something to receive something, but even though... She was very curious about that charm and the strange scholar as well, more specifically, on how were they using the magical energies that were so abundant on that city. Were they doing the same thing her and the other shamans did four hundred years ago? The spiritual realm seemed to be completely in order despite the abnormal abundance of magic on that city. The spirits were also seemed to be calm and tranquil and the flow of the magic was still far away from a critical point. Everything seemed to be in balance, at least for now, but Nenetl was on that city only for a few hours. She still didn't actively searched for disturbances on the spiritual realm or on the flow of magic...

"No tlamanalistli?" Nenetl asked, again using the same ancient language she used before, this time the word meant 'offering', 'sacrifice'. Curious, she looked at the man with the same intense stare she was before, looking directly at his soul and spirit.
For Nenetl, it was only natural, but for other people, that intense gaze was terribly uncomfortable. It honestly felt almost impossible to lie to her when she was looking at someone like that...

She heard silently as the scholar asked if she wanted one of those charms, but his veiled challenge was completely ignored by Nenetl. She was much more serious now than she was before as she looked at the man. Little did she know that even if Alisdair's plan to challenge her and make her show her power had technically failed, she would herself give him many clues about exactly what she was...

"Magic energy isn't ours to take. It is only borrowed. To receive something, we must give something in return. This is the rule that governs the magic world, the spiritual world. The spirits that govern the lands and the elements are powerful... Much more powerful than any mortal can immagine... I already saw... witnessed... their rage when this rule was broken..." Nenetl said, with a distant stare, almost as if remembering the past.

"It is my duty as the last of my kind to maintain the balance. I am alive only for this purpose. This is why Tonatiuh gave me a second chance... So I can ammend for the sins and mistakes made by me and my kin." Nenetl said, with a serious expression.

"Please, show me how this... charm... works. I have just arrived on the city, so I'm afraid I didn't have enough time to visit the spiritual realm. The spiritual realm holds an infinite amount of power, but it is fragile and delicate. If certain rules are broken, it will lash out... And I would hate to see that happen again." Nenetl continued, looking at the man with a serious stare. At that moment, she didn't look just like an exotic, beautiful woman. She knew what she was talking about. An aura of wisdom and authority emanated from her as she looked directly to your soul.
