Added Weapons and Weapon Types section. Will be added detailed descriptions of each weapon type soon.

Edit: Added the following to Weapons and Weapon Types...

Swords
Short Swords- Short Swords are typically weaker compared to longswords but are single handed and thus can either be dual wielded or paired with a shield.
Long Swords- Long Swords are reliable, raw damage weapons.
Sabers- A balanced blade of raw and piercing damage.
Scimitars- Thick bladed weapons known for causing bleeding damage.
Katanas- Long, curved blades that ignore fortitude.
Rapiers- Thin blades that excel in piercing damage.

Edit #2: Added the following to Weapons and Weapon Types...

Brute
Axes- Raw damage weapons that are known for cleaving.
Maces- weapons that balance raw and stun based damage.
Hammers- High stun based weapons.
Pillars- Massive poles of stone or wood used to crush foes.
Totems- Similar to Pillars, Totems are massive weapons made of wood with enchanted spirits sketched into the surface. These tend to do less damage and build up less stun compared to their Pillar counterparts but allow the use of healing, bless, and hex abilities.

Edit #3: Added the following Weapons and Weapon Types...

Bow
Shortbow- Short-ranged weapons that can fire a volley of arrows in quick succession.
Longbow- Long-ranged weapons that deliver high piercing damage.
Crossbow- The use of unique bolts can alter the damage types of these weapons (fire, explosive, etc)
Foldingbow- Foldingbows are bows which fold up on themselves and can be easily stored. These are typically much weaker to other bow types but can be used as secondary weapons without requiring the secondary weapon skill. (Or used as a third weapon if you do have the secondary weapon skill)
Greatbow- Massive bows that benefit from strength instead of dexterity.

Edit #4: Added the following Weapons and Weapon Types...
Longarm
Spears- Balanced raw and piercing damage weapons.
Javelins- High piercing damage weapons.
Throwing Spears- High damage, consumable weapons.
Staffs- Stun based weapons that benefit from dexterity instead of strength, but lack the ability to use execute skills.
Halberds- Cleaving weapons that do piercing damage.

Edit #5: Added the following to Roles...

Rogue - Skills related to espionage and assassination.

Communicator - Skills related to diplomacy and bartering.

Edit #6: Edited Weapon examples to include dice mechanics. (Dice mechanics are most subject to change and be altered to balance gameplay)

Edit #7: Added the following...

On the note of dice mechanics, my goal with this was to make the majority of gameplay simple by only requiring D20 rolls unless otherwise stated. The complexity lies with the weapons and skills themselves. However I don't think the weapons would be all that complicated with visual representaion. How I picture it is if a weapon was on a card you would have all the details on the front and on the back would be your dice roll results so whenever you roll you would just look, "Okay 17 = 18 raw damage + 2 Bleed"

Alright cool. I'll be adding more to it throughout the week and I'll do a test run with some friends next Saturday to work out the kinks (at least for the beginning portion of a campaign) I look forward to having you guys along once I get this going over here n_n

Edit: Next thing I'm going to work on is a bestiary, getting started on one at least. I'm open to ideas if anyone has some. I'll be dividing creatures into five tiers (Tier I-V) and essentially how that works is anything of Tier III beats Tier II, Tier II beats Tier I etc. Creatures within a tier vary in strengths and weaknesses and depending on your character some may prove difficult to you, while not so much to another player of equal level but both of you would notice the difficulty jump when facing a higher tier.

I'm more so interested in lower tier creature concepts rather than high tier, because even if we have a ton of cool ideas for dragons and such none of you will be able to fight them right at the start. But I'll take ideas for high tiers regardless just rather see low tier ideas.

Thanks guys and with that I'm off to bed!

Edit #2: Kingdom Building info added to the OP...

Edit #3: On the note of Kingdom building, I would highly recommend when forming a party that at least one of your party members have the Leader role as either a primary or secondary Role for your character. It will greatly expand what your party has to do. Building up a province, going on quest for NPCs, waging war, etc. Kingdom building plays a major part in Kingdoms of Khoyee.

Apologies for the double post but I wanted the following statement to stand out.

A common issue that plagues RPs is when members of the rp get preoccupied with life and can not, or no longer wish to, post. That's something that is unavoidable and will always happen. I can't even promise as the creator of this rp that I will always be here. However I will be designing certain elements to make it where KoK (okay just realized how bad of an acronym that is) Kingdoms of Khoyee is able to proceed regardless of who drops out or not. Think of Kingdoms of Khoyee being more like a set of rules and lore rather than a single rp. Campaigns will come and go, all of which impacting the world of Khoyee, but time goes on.

By this I mean we will be working with a year system. The time will start as Spring of year 15. Time will progress along with the campaigns currently running. If those campaigns come to an end either because the party members died or users have become inactive, the remaining party members can start a new campaign picking up at the time that the world is currently in.

So say we start with just one party, one campaign, if you guys play until winter of year 15 and another group of people want to join and form their own party, they will be picking up in winter of year 15. Any events the original party has caused to happen are set in stone, so if you let a group of bandits destroy the settlement that was by the starting location of the campaign, the next party won't have the option to go to that settlement because it's already destroyed. Say that original party has disbanded but one member wants to keep playing, they could go off and do their own thing or try to join that second party that is still playing their campagin.

I hope that makes sense and if you guys have any questions do let me know!

------

Edit #1: Added the beginning of a Bestiary. Stats and damage specifics are subject to change and will be altered through play.

------

Edit #2 4/24: I spent three hours last night coming up with formulas to balance weapons. So far I've got a good setup for unnamed swords (your basic longsword, shortsword, etc) and I'll be moving onto other weapons today.

Edit #3: I've started on some of the roles in the rp.

Edit #4: I'll be changing creatures of the bestiary to have dice roll based damage. I was more so brainstorming what they would do before and I hadn't considered that their damage should be dice roll based just like player damage.

Edit #5: Several typos and corrections made, also added a section about New Character + and expanded Chaos into its own section.

TRIPLE POST!

Okay just letting you guys know that at this rate I'll be ready to get a campaign going next week so it's time to get parties ready. To do so we need the following...

Party #1 (You guys can come up with a name)
DM - ???
Party Member 1 - ???
Party Member 2 - ???
Party Member 3 - ???
etc.
etc.

I would recommend a party of five, six if you count the dm. If no one wants to be dm I can be but I'd prefer to hand over the reigns at a later date so it doesn't seem like I'm giving my party an advantage over others. On that note I'll be changing the name slightly to show that Kingdoms of Khoyee is intended to be played by multiple parties. I'd call it an MMO Tabletop RPG. Perhaps not massive, but it will be designed to be so.

Alright with that I look forward to what we put together!

@dreamer

Is there any way to rid yourself of personal chaos?

Good question, if a way were to be added it would have to be something that couldn't be abused easily. Originally the point of personal chaos is to prevent griefers that go around killing other players, especially lower level players. But then I added the bit about your dm has to accept that you would be killed so that makes murderous rampages less likely. I will think on this and come up with a solution.

As for everyone else, I'm under the impression that our current party is the following...

DM - (Me Temporarily)
Party Member 1 - @rush99999
Party Member 2 - @JELDare
Party Member 3 - @Torack
Party Member 4 - @Jerkchicken
Party Member 5 - ???

Sound about right? I'll get more work done on the essentials and put together a blank character sheet for you guys to use.

Edit #1: Added Races (with very basic details) and a blank Character Sheet.

Alright @rush99999 I added some bits of info regarding decreasing Personal Chaos. In short killing other players with Chaos or Creatures of Chaos (posted in provinces as quest) will reduce your Personal Chaos. We'll see if this system gets abused or not and I'll change it. It's more so meant to benefit players like Assassins who's job involves killing NPCs, it's not meant for people to go around killing all the blacksmiths of the world so no one can buy weapons and armor :P.

@manapool1 Nope not at all. The party can be larger and there won't be a limit to the number of parties that can play at any given time (just make sure each party has a dm) n_n

@manapool1 Alright awesome, I'll add you to the party list!

Edit #1: Added a party list to the bottom of the OP. Later we can come up with a party name instead of #1 n_n

Edit #2: Working on the Beastmaster Role now n_n. One of my personal favs.

(Fixed the typo for Pack V)

Edit #3: Significant additions made to the Roles Diagram

Starting my in person campaign with friends today, should show me any flaws of the early game and I'll adjust that here. n_n

(Is it a double post if they're two days apart? :P)

Alright, the rl campaign was quite a success! We were supposed to play Kingdoms of Khoyee for a couple hours and we ended up playing it for five and had to leave because the store was closing haha. The beginning flaws were made clear to me and I'll be working those out. Some roles, like Beastmaster had an issue where if you didn't have the first skill you couldn't earn Beastmaster experience, and if you didn't earn experience you couldn't unlock the skill, so that will have to be fixed. There's plenty to work on but the game is fun and that is the main thing when it comes to making something like this.

On a different note I wanted to announce...

THE BANDIT MAKING CONTEST

Starting Monday (when the rp begins) and concluding Friday night 6pm PST, you guys can come up with character sheets and skills for bandits. I'll go through the list and pick out some of my favorites and those will be added to the Codex under characters. Those bandits can, and will, be used for any of the campaigns going on with any of the parties. Those bandits can end up getting killed, hired by another party, or a number of other things that your creative minds come up with.

Creating a Bandit
  • Bandits, much like any other NPC, bandits are just like players. They have the same stats and Roles to choose from. The only difference between an NPC and a player is they have no primary and secondary bonuses towards experience and thus will eventually be outranked by players even if they live just as long.
  • Bandits shouldn't surpass Tier III gear and it is recommended you keep it to Tier I and Tier II so new players can fight them early game.
  • To submit a bandit simply post the character sheet here on the forum with the heading, Bandit Contest Entry
  • You can submit any number of bandits you come up with, just make sure you have a good understanding over how character leveling works so your bandits make sense compared to players. Bandits that do not follow the rules and guidelines will not be accepted.

Prize
Pride in your work! Really though your bandits will be placed in the world and I'll try to inform you on their status be it killing players or kicking the bucket.

Starts
Monday, April 30th 12PM PST

End
Friday, May 4th 6PM PST

-----
Alright guys that about does it for me tonight. I'll work on some more things and get us ready for Monday!

-----
Edit #1: I've got a todo list of things that need done, short blades need worked on, Casters needs skills, and you guys need some maps to play on. I do have a concern I need fleshed out and I'm open to ideas from you guys.

As you know my goal here is to have it so multiple parties playing at the same time and so far that's looking good. We have a party of 5 here on the forums, a party of my friends that has six people, and then a small party of two of my brothers playing. So that makes two offline parties and one online one. When it comes to interactions we can work through those, I'm not sure if you're on discord but most of my friends are so if we ever have pvp or something we can setup a day to do it there. That's no problem, the issue is time progression.

In an MMO when you go offline your character vanishes from the world, but our characters can't just vanish here between post or between sessions offline. They have to remain in order for this multiple party system to make sense. My current thought is to make real life days equal a set amount of in game time, like 1 rl day equals 1 in game hour, or something along those lines. That isn't a perfect system though so I'm open to suggestions and see if we come up with anything.

Alright guys take care and with luck I'll be able to get you started on your adventure tomorrow!

@rush99999 Fahall looks good and I like that the backstory is a unique idea that fits in with the world without the typical "I rode a boat here" story I've been using. I'll add him to the party list by your name.

I've been running some errands today and still have a few more to do but I'm going to get the Caster Role setup and then I'll make copies of the role sheet for each of you so you can all have links to those in your character sheets :D
