If you've never read SCP before, I highly recommend it.

scp-wiki.net/about-the-scp-foundation

You don't have to at all to join this RP, I just recommend doing so to benefit your life, because a lot of the stuff on there is pretty good, especially Series 1.

The SCP Foundation is a global, very powerful, officially recognized but highly secretive organization dedicated to the Securing of anomalous objects, the Containing of said anomalies, and the Protection of mankind. Thus, SCP. SCP also stands for Special Containment Procedures.

SCP's can range from strange objects, to lethal monsters or viruses. Anything that can be described as defying the natural laws of nature are often obtained by the SCP foundation and stored in various facilities around the globe. The problem is, somebody has to test on these anomalies. It can be very, very dangerous.

That's where D-CLASS come in. Often death row prisoners, desperate life-prisoners, or people in such an unfortunate spot of trouble that they have no other choice but to sign up to a mysterious program with the promise of release from their situations, D-CLASS prisoners are front-and-center in the testing of anomalies materials and entities.

In this RP, the players will be controlling one D-CLASS member trying to make it out of these dangerous tests alive, while doing what they are instructed by SCP personnel. PC death is likely, and there may be some PvP elements involved if things get very bad. It will be very spooky for our poor D-CLASS people. It is possible for D-CLASS member to survive until the end of their service. I'd prepare a secondary one just in case. The good news is my CS is very short. Your character's personality should come out over the course of the RP.

The players also have the option of controlling a group of digital insurgents, quietly monitoring what they can of a breach in SCP security. The breach just happens to be that of the dossier of D-CLASS personnel. These hackers communicate to each other via an anonymous secret chatroom. This way you'll have at least one permanent character, even if they are only represented by a mysterious username. They can discuss things currently going on the D-CLASS's life, except the exact things that happen in the SCP rooms because that is currently protected.

So, what do you think? Would you be interested? Unless you're too distracted reading through 3500 SCP articles.

@Stekkmen

Well this is intriguing.

I haven't really looked at SCP for a while but I'm familiar with a few of the more popular SCP's from the first series. I like the idea of playing the role of the hapless D-CLASS personal made to experiment on these objects/creatures and I really like the way this is set up; having a group of hackers observing a constantly rotating cast of expendable test subjects and trying to work out whats going on from the limited information is an interesting addition.

The only thing I think is missing is that as D-CLASS personal we probably wouldn't get to take part in any of the initial retrieval missions, but that makes sense if we're only drawing from existing SCP. And it's not likely we're going to run out of those any time soon.

Can you recommend any good articles from the newer series that I can read to catch up on things?

Posting my interest too. I've not read much SCP which is going to make an out-of-their-depth confused expendable easy to roleplay.

@King Cosmos Yeah, there won't be any retrieval missions. I'm not a master of SCP lore and retrieval missions are kept purposefully vague.

But, retrieving SCP's is one thing. Finding out what they do is the job of our beloved D-CLASS.

You don't really need to read any of the SCP's, I'll draw from existing ones that will be fun to play. Since there is no real canon, it doesn't really matter.

The hacker thing is just to give players a permanent character so they don't feel like they lose everything if their character dies. Even though I think PC death is pretty cool I figured it might become frustrating if it happens and they have to start from Square One.

@King Cosmos

There have been situations where they send those luckless prisoners of their own lives straight into danger because they're expendable. Of course, those are usually unusual circumstances. (Was watching The Flesh That Hates and The Red Sea Object on SCP Illustrated.)

@Stekkmen

I'm in.

@FalloutJack I'd consider those closer to experiments than retrieval operations. Sometimes an SCP is too large to take back to a facility, or is in some cases a location itself, so they take the experiments to the SCP instead.

In the cases where they are trying to capture a creature or safely retrieve an object, or recapture as the case may be, they usually use a taskforce rather than the D-CLASS personnel. Though I'm sure exceptions exist.

Ok, well, great! If people don't think it's a terrible idea, that's good enough for me. Here's the OOC:

My only concern is my character being unexpectedly killed. I dont mind character death, but I prefer it be on my own terms.
