“Leomon, you bast-gah!” Maildramon’s curse was cut short as Leomon’s attack drove him into the ground, the horse-like Digimon’s legs buckling and his torso slamming into the ground as a crater formed underneath him and a web of cracks spread out across the rooftop.

The ‘Fist of the Beast King” attack left a horrible mark on Maildramon’s neck, almost like a burn, iwht blackened and melted metal warping to form a large dent. For a few seconds Maildramon lay still, beaten but not dead as his laboured breathing could still be heard. Slowly, the Champion Digimon managed to pull his legs underneath him and tried to push himself up; his legs trembled and his body shifted slightly, but he no longer had the strength to rise.

“You may be strong, Leomon… but I will not… be defeated like this. Yes, I will not lose… to a Lion… who allows himself to be turned… into a pet… but some human brat!” With a renewed effort Maildramon began to rise, his shaky legs lifting his body from the crater slowly, though it looked as if it took all of his strength just to manage that. Surely he couldn’t fight anymore.

“You will all lose in the end. You will all die. War never prepared you for what’s coming! When he gets involved…”

“I think that’s quite enough Maildramon.” The Champion Digimon froze, even his trembling ceasing, as he heard the voice. Everything was quite in the wake of the mysterious voice and even though his helmet hid his face Maildramon’s shock was evident. Slowly, the armoured Digimon craned his head up to look at something in the air above him.

Hovering in the air, some hundred feet above the building they stood on, a humanoid figure watched them all through an impassive metal mask.

“CyberAngemon.”

A being of both flesh and machine, the humanoid had an almost angelic appearance that was marred by several cybernetic components. His right leg below the hip was entirely made of metal, as was his left arm and shoulder; in fact metal stretched to cover the entirely upper left portion of his torso all the way to his sternum and to the base of his ribcage. Three angelic wings extended from his back on the right hand side, while on his left three wings made of gleaming metal and veins of glowing green light hovered behind him, separate from his body. A metal mask covered the upper half of his face, leaving only his mouth exposed, and if any of the Digidestined were able to get a closer look they would see that the mask was scarred, marked by a line which suggested the mask had been cracked over the left eye and poorly welded back together.

“That’s enough. You’ve said too much, and frankly this whole display is unseemly.”

CyberAngemon’s masked face turned as he examined each of the roofs occupants one at a time; it was hard to determine his mood with half of his face obscured, but the sneer on his lips suggested he was upset, even disgusted by what he saw.

“Leave, Maildramon, if you can still manage that much. Your part in this is done; the task of dealing with the Digidestined has been left to me now.”

"I've got a bad feeling about this," Axel said under his breath. working together, they struggled in the fight against Maildramon, and this guy seemed to be even stronger. Axel had a gut feeling that things were about to get real ugly, real fast. The safe thing would be to high tail it out of there, but he knew they couldn't do that. after all, what would happen to the city if the protectors fled? Axel pushed aside his cowardice and stood there alongside the other digidestined, ready to defend the city.

G scanned CyberAngemeon with her Digivice. The display read ERROR! “Leomon there is no data on that CyberAngemeon. Mom’s tablet said date for every Digimon was in the Digivice. I recommend extreme caution.” She was trying to see how to make Leomon evolve again but higher level evolution was locked out. She knew Leomon had to be hungry after the last battle. She went into the cafe below and converted as much food as possible into data. She then went back to the room and uploaded it directly into Leomon.

Leomon remained cautious. This thing was an abomination of the Angemon species. He wondered how this abomination was going to deal with them, could mean annihilation or simply to talk out a misunderstanding. For all he knew the other Digimon & Digidestined started the fight. He didn’t let his guard down, posed ready to strike at a moment’s notice.
