[OOC] Digimon: Into the Digital Age

The year is 2219, Humanity no longer exists on earth. Earth has long since vanished due to what has been referred to as the Digital Apocalypse. Humanities fascination and addiction to electronics and internet having lead to their downfall, digimon once considered just games and toys were unleashed on humanity after a wayward scientist figured how to make them real.

The digimon unleashed on the world quickly took over but were fought off by humans known as the digidestined, finding a way off of earth and into the digital world to confront the scientist, the digidestined waged war and won in a year long battle. Humanity along the way having to take refuge and eventually live in the digital world. Human's allowed to live how they wished to live in every aspect.

As the digital age approaches its 150th year of existence the digidestined continue to live despite their incredible age.

I have a couple quick questions.
Do we need to give the entire digivolution line of our partner, and how does digivolution work? Is it like in the anime/manga or like it in vpets/games? Do we have to stick to a single line or can we abuse multiple digivolution lines?

It will be done through storyline with digivolutions much like the first season of digimon.

I think for the sake of the rp digivolutions should be a singular path though we can add it to have some of the battles have the digimon go down a secondary line for the sake of the story.

My question involves a digimon partner. I'd like an original but may need some help designing the various stages. Generally I want it to follow a Fox or Racoon mixed with a Gentleman/Phantom Thief theme. I'm not really sure if such a line already exists, my memory of the Digimon bestiary is pretty fuzzy. Basically I'll just be a disillusioned Digidestined that sort of went rogue after the apocalypse, and will likely take some convincing to play hero again.

Well, my digimon is a dragon android Data type fire elemental, maybe yours could be a beast virus type ice or wind elemental.

We have our dark elemental just not officially signed up yet. Though it may make for an interesting development to have 2 wayward digidestined that can turn to the good side.

I'm not a fan of most of the forms being essentially Renamon re-colors. But I have to admit that last form is damn cool.

well, we can have duplicate elementals, I was trying for all different elements but if you want to take another that is taken it is fine. Could go for lightning too cuz electricity can cause burns too.

Good question. I was going to use Dark for my Thief archetype but I guess that's out the window now. Maybe I'll just scrap the whole idea and do something else, I don't know.

yeah, you can pick light. I didn't think to add light to the elemental listing. Also, black digimon or dark digimon are still their original element as well. Almost all black digimon weren't actually true darks. Black Wargreymon was still a fire elemental.

When one has lived for about fifty or sixty years longer than they naturally should have, it becomes easier and easier to lose your earliest memories as they are replaced with new ones. Raven has somewhat mitigated the issue by keeping a memoir he frequently updates with his latest thoughts and experiences. It's not the best fix in the world, but at least it's better than nothing.

According to Raven's memoirs, he was a somewhat ostracized kid back in the original human world. Early on he was branded a troublemaker and a dangerous sort of person to hang around, but for the life of him Raven just can't seem to remember why. Well in any case the Digital World was practically a second chance at life for him, and he took to it almost too easily. He formed an unbreakable bond of trust with his partner, Falcomon. Even the other Digidestined became like a surrogate family over time. But when all was said in done, time did what it did best. It kept marching forward, and as it did so Kaitou drifted further and further from his old friends. When years became decades, Kaitou decided to look for ways to stifle his increasing boredom and soon came up with a rather interesting game to play. He disappeared, seeming to fall off the grid and instead adopted the mantle of a phantom thief, eventually rebranding himself with a new name: Raven.

Raven keeps his history as a Digidestined to himself mostly. In fact, he's content to let everyone believe he's just a masked thief. After all, what fun would be had if everyone knew of his former reputation and feared him for it? Or worse, what if they just let him get away with his thefts because of it? Becoming a thief was to alleviate boredom, not invite more of it after all. So that's what Raven/Kaitou has been up to all this time. All but abandoning his former mantle as a Digidestined and instead striking forth as a supposedly uncatchable phantom thief.
