Foreword

The entity appeared at the edge of the Quatis Solar System during the 5th day of the 2nd month, in the year of Quatis, 4876.

Images taken from the Quatis Astronomical foundation, revealed the entity to be violet in color, over a lightyear in length, and resembled a ribbon-like cloud. Initial hypothesis suggested that it may have been a nebula, though further analyses revealed that it was not gaseous in nature, but rather comprised of concentrated photonic energy. This entity was allocated Hany’s Ribbon, named after the scientist who discovered it.

Three days after its mysterious appearance, two outer planets of the Quatis System exploded upon contact with Hany’s Ribbon as it continued its path towards the Quatis world. News of the planetary destruction and the ensuing threat to Quatis, created worldwide panic while the leading scientists and engineers worked together on a way to save their 7.2 Billion inhabitants from pending doom.

An estimated two months was all they had to devise a way to either stop Hany’s Ribbon or find a way to escape it. In those two months a new innovative era was born. No longer did the people of Quatis pay mind to economic limitations. In the face of imminent doom, all governing restrictions were lifted and the planets resources became accessible by whatever means necessary to achieve their primary objective, survival. This very short but largely productive era gave birth to all manner of new technologies from advanced weaponry to improved methods of travel. Yet, from so many advancements, a way to stop Hany’s Ribbon was not discovered. The destruction of Quatis, it would seem, was unavoidable…. But not all was lost.

In the case that all else failed, a secondary measure was taken to ensure the preservation of the Quatis race: A fleet of eleven city-size space veering vessels were constructed, and with less than a day to spare before Hany’s Ribbon obliterated their world, a little over two million Quatis citizens boarded these vessels and launched themselves into space.

…Seven billion were left behind to perish along with their planet and the Quatis Solar System….

Chapter 1

A Troubling Start

Two million people on board the eleven Quatis vessels of the Exodus Fleet, fell into morbid silence as they stood before their view screens and watched as Hany’s Ribbon decimated their planet, along with the remaining seven billion fellow citizens they had left behind.

On the bridge of Quatis flagship Egress, the deathly silence soon ended when the shockwave of planetary dust shook the fleet and sent ships operations into turmoil. Admiral Dino Gavon, dressed in black boots, blue jeans and dark-grey tank top, gripped fast to his chair until the convulsions had subsided, all the while keeping his sober leer fixed on the monitor that displayed the cold, violet waves of Hany’s Ribbon as it headed towards the sun.

“I recommend that we leave now, sir!!” Yelled the female voice of Lieutenant Bailic Shard, as she picked herself up off the deck and retook her seat at the helm. “We’ve got no time to stand on ceremony!” She was a pretty girl, youngest of Dino’s bridge crew, with short blond hair, fair complexion, blue eyes, and a dimple on her right cheek that showed up on the rare occasion that she actually smiled.

Science officer Yol Madot, a chiselled young man with deep red hair and fading freckles, and who managed to maintain his seat during the impact, turned swiftly at his station to face Dino and confirm Bailic’s urgency on the matter. His voice was oddly composed, as if to spite the petrified look on his face: “She’s right, Admirable, Hany will be making contact with the sun in a matter of minutes. We won’t survive a blast like that. We need to jump. Now.”

The seven subordinate officers on deck, regaining their composure, turned with suspended trepidation at Dino Gavon as his nostrils flared, his eyelids grew heavy. He reached casually to the console on the right of his seat and typed out a short command. The view of Hany’s Ribbon then dropped from the wall-size view screen, the image now replaced with a live view of open space ahead.

“I’m aware of our situation.” Admiral Dino stated, then shifts his eyes to Madot. “Don’t rush me.” Returning his attention to Shard, he drew a deep breath and almost whispered his command; “Choose your coordinates, Lieutenant. Apprise the rest of the fleet and synchronize. …Make the jump.”

“Understood, sir!” Regardless of her lack of joy in life, Bailic was probably the most emotional of all officers on deck, her fingers trembling as she tapped out the coordinates and sent a synchronizing transmission to the other ten ships. She gasped, seemingly surprised when the helm display lit up to announce confirmation from the other ten ships. “We are go.” Her voice shook as her thumb flipped the switch to Jump.

As the click of the switch echoed through the bridge, the image of space ahead began to change. It was as though all the stars in the universe were suddenly drawn together, aligning themselves in a wall of white light that submerged the fleet, while at the same time everyone on board felt the curios sensation of falling and butterflies in their stomachs. An instant later, the wall of light broke away as the universe expanded to its rightful setting once again. In just a few moments they had arrived thousands of lightyears away from where they were, but instead of the view screen now displaying a star spangled image of space, a strange and massive circular distortion was obstructing their view in the void ahead.

Noticeably disturbed by what he was seeing, Dino kept his focus on the spatial distortion while his mouth dropped slowly open, pausing a moment to compose his thoughts before speaking;

“Status… Lieutenant?”

“We’re out of range of the blast, sir….” Her reply trailed off, and in a reluctant effort to confirm the new readings displayed on her console, she lifted her eyes to the view screen. The sight of the massive circular formation in space causes her teeth to clatter several times until she finally found more to say. “But I… I have no idea what that is.”

“It’s a Temporal Vortex.” Madot told her, his voice still unnaturally calm, and then turned in his chair to face Dino once more and repeat his analogy. “It’s a Temporal Vortex, Admiral.”

Dino’s less than affected expression was compromised by the trace of a grin as he looked at Madot. “And how exactly did you arrive at that conclusion, Nerd?”

“The anomaly is disrupting our systems, Admirable.” Madot replies as a matter of fact, “Practically every major ships system is off-line, yet our temporal systems are going haywire. Date, time, it’s all in state of flux. Whatever that thing is out there, it’s distorting time itself.”

“Can confirm!” Shard announced, almost creaming with concern as she punched at the controls of the helm. “Our propulsion systems are off-line. Coordinate systems as well. We’re dead in the water. But it’s even worse than that…” She stopped hammering at the controls to look at Dino with a dispairng tear in her eye. “It’s gravity is dragging us in, sir.”

“Pull yourself together, woman.’ Dino demanded with a petulant curl of his lip, then turned his focus to Madot, asking, “It’s not a black hole then, Nerd?”

“It’s not a black hole.” Madot replies with a casual, confirming nod. “I honestly don’t know what it is, but Temporal Vortex sounds pretty cool. And please stop calling me nerd.”

“Well, as long as it sounds cool, that’s the main thing. But no, you’ll always be my nerd.” Dino moved his focus to the view screen, trying to make sense of what he was looking at. In a way the anomaly was nothing but a ring shaped mirage floating in space, several thousand miles in diameter. In fact, given its subtle space-displacing appearance, it might have been easy to miss unless someone happened to come face to face with it – and it struck Dino as curios, to say the least, that out of all the places in the universe, a warp Jump would land them in that exact location, staring down the hole of what was probably a rare, spatial anomaly.

“Admiral!” Communications officer Rikod Cas, a short, dark-skinned man with bleach white curly hair, spoke up as a matter of growing urgency while prodding at his station controls.

“What is it, Cas?” Dino enquired in a banal tone, as if to question what else could possibly go wrong at this point.

“Reports are coming in from the rest of the Fleet,” Cas informed him; “They’re being pulled into the Vortex along with us and.. uhh, undergoing the same system failures as we are as well. They want answers.” He glances over his shoulder at the admirable, and added; “They’re panicking.”

“Well, duh….” Dino stared at the spatial anomaly drawing nearer on the view screen, while scratching his brow thoughtfully with his pinkie finger. ”Lieutenant Shard…” He cleared his throat, resting back easy in his chair; “any chance of getting propulsion systems back on-line?”

Shard was desperately trying, but failing to hold back her tears; the death of seven billion of her fellow Quatis – as well as their own unknown current fate – was taking its toll on her. “Nothing’s responding, sir. I can’t even get thrusters to work.” She sobbed, now slapping helplessly at helm controls. "I'm so sorry, sir, there’s nothing I can do.”

“Pull yourself together -” He told her again; “and that’s not a request. Sulking isn’t going to help us.”

“Yes sir…” She cried anyway, “but I don’t wanna die toda –“

“Admiral.” Madot spoke up again in his continuing unaffected tone. “Still no response from my system checks either. I’m afraid Lieutenant Cry Baby is correct, and no amount of punching the controls seems to help. Life support and a few other less important systems are all we have.”

As the spatial anomaly swelled towards them, just moments from swallowing the fleet, Admiral Dino turned his attention back to communications officer Cas, and said; “Send the fleet my response: Whether they like it or not, we’re all going in. So kick back, relax and… come what may.”

Cas had barely enough time to relay the message to the other vessels before, without even a touch of turbulence, they entered the spatial anomaly. Everything went black. Not a sound was heard, not even Lieutenant Shards sobbing….

A ripple in time and space. That's what started a universe, and that's how you jump a universe. BWWWWWUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHMMMMMMMMM a sound roared as a unknown vessel flew into the central universe station. It landed, and an adult half-elf jumped out of it. His name, Gold Zephzellian.

CHAPTER PROLOGUE: It Begins

Gold walks up to the map of the universe and says, "Where is the busiest..." Gold stands around, tapping the map and looking at every galaxy. This universe is... small, but it has potential. Gold walks on over to the convenient, unattended kitchen and begins cooking some food, when Leo interrupts, "Woah woah woah... WOAH. What are you making?" Gold smiled and replied, "What do you think Leo? Spaghetti!" Leo replies, "Classic. Nothing wrong with spaghetti..." Gold continues to cook for awhile...

PROLOGUE

Thirteen vehicles were standing in a circle in a clearing in Brecon Beacons. They were oldtimers of British make. Altough the cars were, thus, rather old, age has treated them quite well: none of them suffered from any mechanical damage. Their bodywork is still in pristine shape, aside from a few scratches and dents.

The most important looking one was a silver Rolls-Royce 40/50 Silver Ghost. He gave off a royal aura, as if he was the king of these vehicles. He coughed mechanically, his bumper rattling as he does. The others directed their headlights to him. They were of great variety, a collection of Britain's greatest hits almost:

A Jaguar E-Type, black as the night.
An Aston Martin DB5, straight out of a spy movie.
A Land Rover Series I, hardened by the Great War.
A Reliant Regal, effortlessly keeping its balance.
A Lotus Europa, elegant as always.
An Austin Loadstar, the main bulk of the group.
A Jensen Interceptor, coloured in a speedy red.
A Morgan 4-4 Series I, dark blue like the ocean.
A Triumph Spitfire, half as fast as the plane but with twice the charm.
A Rover JET1, likely escaped from a scientific museum.
A Bentley 4 1/2 Litre, the racing veteran amongst them.
A TVR Grantura Series II, yellow like the sun.

Once the Rolls has gotten their attention, he spoke.

"Knights, we have a problem."

"There are... tensions between the Aeravians and the Bargish."

"As you know, they have been competing for market share for quite a while now. The Bargish, however, are slowly growing more and more popular and the Aeravians do not accept that. I am sure you heard the stories."

The Interceptor responded to him.

"Yes, King Argent. Just recently, a barge got attacked by a Cessna. It was truly a tragedy. Two crew members got killed."

The Land Rover added to this.

"Frankly, the humans are gettin' quite pissed about the whole situation. This is not doin' the image of the Aeravians any good, but people are startin' to get afraid of usin' Bargish."

"Right, and there's also the matter of Lorramals gettin' hit by them, not to mention the various tons of damaged Aplantiances-"

The Bentley interrupted him.

"The Aplantiances are the least of our concerns, they are-"

The Morgan quickly joined the discussion.

"Sir Blower, what do you mean with 'least of our concerns'? The Aplantiances are our food, and-"

The Bentley was fast to counter.

"Sir Coventry, the death of a few Aplantiances is nothing when compared to the death of-"

Soon, it was every Knight for himself and opinions flew everywhere until the King spoke again.

"Knights."

"KNIGHTS!"

The clearing turned dead silent again.

"This is a serious matter. The humans are not taking this any longer. We need a neutral party to negotiate between the Bargish and the Aeravians to make sure this does not accelerate any further."

The Aston spoke.

"I assume we will be this neutral party, King Argent?"

The King responded to him.

"Yes, Sir Spectre. So far, the Carthropods have remained unaffected by these events. It is only natural that we will negotiate, especially because we are the most common machine race- aside from the Aplantiances- and also the most powerful one."

"Who shall you choose, O King Argent?", responded the Austin truck.

The King remained silent for a few moments.

"Sir Swallow, for he has accomplished numerous missions with shine."

The E-Type lowers his front suspension to bow to his King.

"I'm honoured, O King Argent."

"Now, go. Succeed, Sir Swallow."

The E-Type converts into a mantis-like form. His hood detached to become a head, various suspension parts gather around to form the thorax and the back of the car forms the abdomen. Four large legs extended from underneath it, and two blade-like arms were formed from the front suspension. It turns around to leave for the nearest road.

---------------

Hours later, Sir Malcolm Swallow has not reached the road yet.

"How... quaint. I have not arrived at the road yet."

"Is it just me, or is the forest... different, as if I am in another place?"

"...Troubling."

As Magnus sat in his small tent, he awaited his next client. For some reason today he wasn't getting many patrons. He pushed the sides of the openings of the tent open and looked outside. No one. He thought this was weird, mostly because this was one of the most popular tourist spots on the planet. The entire park and mountain range beside it was absolutely devoid of people. He looked to his right and saw that his fellow vendors were all huddled together around a small fire. He walked towards them.
"Hey uh, do any of you guys know where everyone is?"
"You haven't heard?" Piped up the guy who sold cheap plastic sunglasses. He shook his head in disbelief but struggled to say it himself. "The planet's going to be destoryed."
Magnus' eyes widened in panic. "Wait... you've GOT to be joking." The man shook his head.
The elderly lady who made horrid characitures spoke up with a shockingly optimistic voice. "My fried Ethel's coming to save us! She has a small ship that could pop on here and whisk us away! We just have to be patient!"
"And you guys are just going to sit here and wait?"
"Yes?" replied the Blornak who produced tasty Hujinubickers.
"Are you sure Ethel's going to be here?" Magnus asked.
The elderly woman pulled up a giant brick-like telephone that was so heavy it almost crushed her hand under its weight. "Ethel? Ethel dear? It's me! Gladys!" On the other end you could hear someone reply, but Magnus couldn't pick up what she was saying.
"Ethel? Good you can hear me. Listen closely dear, ETHEL I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU DON'T GET US OUT OF HERE I'M GOING TO PERSONALLY MAKE SURE YOU DIE IN MY HANDS TODAY. DO YOU HEAR ME?" Gladys shouted.
Slowly the sky started to get brighter and warmer. The man who sold sunglasses handed a pair to each person.
"What's that?" asked Magnus.
"It's Hany's Ribbon." he said.
"She's almost here!" yelled Gladys, "So pack up your valuables, let's get out of here!" Everyone dispersed to their site. Magnus's tent closed easily like an umbrella for emergency situations. He moved back towards the campfire as he waited for everyone to finish up. The Sunglasses guy only picked up a basket of sunglasses, Gladys grabbed three paintbrushes. The Blornak didn't grab anything at all. A lone mariachi picked up a rock, not understanding the situation. And a guy made out of silver who had clothes painted on grabbed his gold statue. As the climate grew hotter and hotter everyone grew more and more distrust in Gladys. There were no alternative ways of escape, so she was everyone's last hope.
"SHE'S HERE!" Gladys yelled ominously as she saw the spaceship. It looked so poorly constructed it seemed that if everyone was going to get on, it might not take them out of orbit. The entire craft was about the size of a large van. It was entirely covered in various amounts of sheet metal and rust, with the words "The Ethelizer" written on the side in back paint. The cockpit was the only part that was exposed. Inside was a small elderly woman about the size of Gladys in a 1930's pilot uniform, with the googles and everything. As she lowered the space-van the amount of brightness and heat was getting worse. She opened the back, allowing the vendors to get in with their belonging. When it was time for Magnus to get on it seemed as though it was 120 degrees and as bright as someone holding a flashlight into your eyes. Gladys was right behind him. She was probably the worst person to be in this situation. In a flash, her body was absorbed by her enormous telephone, almost in a melting like fashion.
"Did she regress?" Ethel said in an annoyed voice.
"Maybe?" Magnus said. He picked up the phone and finally boarded the ship. On the sides of the interior were 8 seats on each side.
He handed the phone to Ethel and sat down in a chair between the lone mariachi and the gold statue.
"Hang on to your asses! We're about to go as fast as molasses!" Ethel screamed as she cranked the speed up to 100. Magnus had no idea how fast they were going, but it was so fast that Ethel couldn't tell what was ahead of her and they crashed into an asteroid. The glass of the cockpit broke into several pieces. The phone was the first to be pulled out into the empty void of space. Ethel was next, followed by Mariachi, the Sunglass Guy, The Blornak, the statue, the silver man, and Magnus. While being pulled out, he grabbed the tent. Once exposed to the cold, dead space he tried to use the tent as a makeshift blanket. But the small amount of warmth wasn't enough.
"Shit." He said as he started to freeze.

@GoldHero101

While Gold is preparing Spaghetti in the central universe space station named "The Proto Station", which was constructed many millennia ago by a long forgotten race of space travelling hobbits, the television screen on the main wall of the kitchen comes alive with the latest intergalactic news broadcast.

"Hello all you citizens of the Universe!" Blurted the chubby and jolly pink colored Octopod on screen; "This is Channel 0 News and I'm your host, Frank Feelsalot! Breaking news from the Gamma quadrant of the Sudo galaxy today: Seven billion Quatis citizens are reported DEAD after everyone's beloved Hany's Ribbon ripped through their solar system and left NOTHING in its wake. Rest In Peace you seven billion Quatis freaks! This news report has been brought to you by your favorite morning cereal, Quantum flakes!"

With the latest news flash over, the television screen goes black again.

@Scorpionius@Quote5@Oh no my soup

As the newly revived Ernest draws curiously closer to Hany's Ribbon - completely unaware of its formidable danger - he receives a transmission via his communication systems. The Transmission derives from an unknown source, but is composed of just a few words from an unknown, yet somewhat benign female voice, stating: "Dorsin ost halit."

Just minutes after the transmission is terminated, Hany's Ribbon makes contact with the Quatis sun. The contact causes the sun to swell like a balloon to twice its former size before going supernova. The titanic explosion causes a shock-wave that, as any able space adventurer knows, is enough to obliterate any matter in its path for many lightyears in all directions.

While the sun explodes into its new and fleeting state of existence, Hany's Ribbon Burrows back into a subspace dimension and vanishes. Its work at this point in time and space is done.

However, the force of the supernova in combination with Hany's Ribbon burrowing back into subspace at the same exact moment, creates multiple distortion at random points in space-time throughout the universe:

One of these points is on a planet much alike Earth some 50,000,000 lightyears away from the explosion, where a certain Vehicular entity by the name of Sir Malcolm Swallow is suddenly confronted by a fissure in the atmosphere ahead. It's like the air itself has developed a crack several meters in length, out from which a violent blast of wind rushes through the surrounding landscape with enough force to bring down trees. When the burst of wind dies down, the fissure that displays only darkness within, begins to slowly but noticeably close. What lies on the other side of this fissure is yet to be discovered....

Another one of these distortions is actually a different type of event that manifests in the form of a “mirrored occurrence”. In effect, another planet at some other point in space far, far away, undergoes the same devastation as Quatis. On this particular planet a small group of individuals - namely Ethel, Mariachi, the sunglasses guy, the Bornak, the silver man, Magnus, a statue and a phone - escape the planets destruction on a bus-size space craft. Soon after their escape, their craft runs into an asteroid that causes the passengers to be sucked into space. Fortunately for them, another fissure opens up in the fabric of space nearby. This fissure is a little different than the one that Sir Malcolm Swallow encountered, though. Instead of expelling force, this fissure starts sucking in everything within a 500 mile radius of it. What exists on the other side of this fissure could be the place in the universe where the Quatis solar system no longer exists, but where a sentient spaceship named Ernest may or may not have survived the titanic explosion of a supernova. Or, maybe, what exists on the other side of this fissure is another place entirely….

Several other similar distortions in space-time occurred at random places throughout the universe when the Quatis sun went supernova, but where exactly these distortions take place are yet to be determined by... whomever may find them.

CHAPTER 1: FISSURE

Sir Malcolm Swallow has, meanwhile, not found the road he was supposed to go to yet. It's not like it was hard to miss, though- the road in question was a dirt road, one that would lead to the paved streets. He had issues with this problem before, especially after a storm, when leaves and branches and sometimes even trees cover up the path. In fact, often it would be ruined due to heavy rain. This was not the time for the path to be gone though- Malcolm was on a mission.

Suddenly, a strong gust of wind, ripping out trees in its wake, comes from ahead. Bits of bark and trunk flew everywhere, entire logs thrown away by the force.

"By Jove-"

Malcolm barely avoided getting whacked in his partially chrome face by a log, quickly jumping behind a particularly thick tree withstanding the storm. As soon as the hurricane lies down, he leaves his shelter.

"By Jove, what was that? Such a powerful storm, coming out of nowhere, seems particularly anomalous-"

Then, he saw it. In the distance, floating in the middle of the clearing it created, was a rip.

"That is-"

His aftermarket phone rang. The Knights were equipped with these after a certain incident where three Knights- namely Sir Goddard the Land Rover, Sir Neale the Interceptor and Lady Chapman the Lotus Europa- could not communicate with each other during a chase. They ended up losing the criminal they were chasing.

"Who is this?", Malcolm asks.

"Sir Swallow? This is Sir Spectre. Are you alright? We witnessed a massive, almost bomb-like explosion off in the distance. We wanted to make sure you were safe. Are you heading to London yet?", responded a voice belonging to, obviously, Sir Spectre.

Malcolm sighed as he slowly approaches the fissure. "I am completely fine aside from a few scratches. And no, I digress, I am not heading to London just yet. The dirt road may be gone again, which is troublesome. I may also have found the source of the storm, which is... Tough to describe."

Vague discussions could be heard through the phone. Sir Spectre then spoke again. "What is it like, Sir Swallow?"

Malcolm walked around the fissure, but it weirdly stayed in place as if he couldn't see the back of it. "It is... similar to a rip in the air. Its interior is completely black. It is closing, altough it is slow."

More discussions on the other end of the line. They calmed down after a bit, and Sir Spectre responded again. "Sir Swallow? King Argent demands that you investigate this 'rip'. It may be too dangerous to just leave it there. Someone else will go to London?"

"Understood", Malcolm responded. They aborted the phone call.

"Hmm. It is similar to some sort of portal. Jumping in recklessly seems like a bad idea, but I see no other way to investigate this."

He stuck his left front leg in it, but pulled it out safely.

"Good. I will not immediately die, at least."

He braced himself, and jumped in.

"Long live the King!"

Pirila sighed as she closed the last window in Mili's bedroom. Despite the both of them being immune to the deadly effects of Ashstorms, cleaning up the mess that would be created if the windows remained open was very time-consuming. After having to clean up the mess once Pirila quickly learned to close the windows as soon as possible.

"How long are they gonna be closed for?" Mili asked with a weak voice. Her condition had worsened again recently, and it almost rendered Mili incapable of talking. On bad days she'd be completely mute, while on good days like today her voice would simply be weak. It wasn't anything life-threatening, but it was still troubling.

"For as long as the storm lasts, Mili. Try and get some sleep, okay?" Pirila answered, walking over to the sickly girl to tuck her in again. "Perhaps you'll feel better again when you wake up." Pirila knew that the chances of that happening were slim, Mili would likely never be truly healthy, but she had to say something to try and get the girl to sleep.

"I've done nothing but sleep for the past few days Piri... It's getting boring." Mili responded, and Pirila sighed in response. It was difficult to entertain Mili as her condition meant she was rarely capable of going outside, so she rarely got to talk to people or play with others.

"I'll try and find some more books for you to read when I go out again, okay? Now be a good girl and get some sleep." Pirila said, smiling as she patted Mili's head. "So just try and get some sleep for now. If you really need me, just shout."

Mili nodded and waved as Pirila left the room, before drifting off to sleep in her bed. Pirila meanwhile headed down the stairs to the ground floor. The station's main doors would remain open for as long as possible to allow people seeking shelter to get in, but that meant that Pirila would have to stay downstairs to close the doors.

Already there were a few groups of scavengers in the building. They'd each taken to claiming their own spot in the building, sharing food among themselves while some went to sleep. Most of them didn't have a permanent home - either because they couldn't find one, or because they didn't want one - so places like the Station were a blessing to them. A safe shelter from the deadly ashstorms that plagued the wasteland.

For Pirila and Mili though, the Station was home. The large building gave Mili plenty of room to wander around while still being safe, and it gave Pirila enough space to store interesting things she found while scavenging. At first the two had kept the entire Station as 'private' property, but eventually they decided to open the lower floor to scavengers seeking shelter. Because of this, the Station became a hotspot for people wanting to settle down as it was a safe shelter if their houses were ineffective against the Ashstorms. As a result, a small thriving community had slowly emerged in the ruins around the Station, with scavengers protecting eachother from Raiders and helping eachother when needed.

During Storms like these, most of the inhabitants of said community would flock to the station. Only those with houses that were secure enough would stay at home. But other than locals, travellers would also often take shelter here. The Station was well-known throughout the area as a safe haven, and merchants and travellers would often set up shop in and around the Station, or spend the night there during their travels.

As the storm drew closer, Pirila prepared to close the doors. She'd wait a bit longer to see if there were more people on their way, but she wouldn't wait forever.

Ernest looked upon the the Ribbon with fantination.

"Amazing... whatever that thing was... to cause so much destruction... where did it go, though?

As the Ribbon disappeared, Ernest pondered his next course of action. He checked his terminal:
REPAIR PODS HAVE REPAIRED INITIAL DAMAGE TO ARMOR.
MINOR DAMAGE RECEIVED FROM UNKNOWN SOURCE. AUTOMATICALLY ASSIGNING REPAIR PODS.

Ernest assumed the ribbon was the source of the damage. "That thing... could damage me... even though I was still so far away from it? I didn't detect any projectiles from it...." Ernest made a mental note (of sorts) to approach the ribbon was probably extremely dangerous.

REPAIR PODS ARE REPAIRING DAMAGE TO SENSORS IN DORM. PROGRESS.... Approximately 25%.
REPAIR PODS HAVE MANUALLY CHECKED 5% OF DORM ROOMS. NO NOTABLE INSTANCES DETECTED YET.

Ernest was slightly frustrated that the repair pods were taking so long to repair the dorm. He then started using his navigation system to find the nearest station or inhabited planet, or basically anything he can land on and interact with.

Cuna raised a hand to his face, seeing a building just ahead, maybe a hundred paces from him, this time. Ah dammit stupid fucking space rifts, how come every fucking time he entered it, he went into a different place? First a place where everyone was either running around or completely silent like it was the end of the world, then a fucking spaceship devoid of people.

Now though, had to be his least favorite. Fucking... ash storm or something. Just his bloody luck. He turned through to head back through the rift again (why had he thought it a good idea to go through a rift in space or whatever again?)...OF FUCKING COURSE IT TOOK NOW TO DISAPPEAR.

“Bloody bones and flaming ashes” He growled to himself, coughing after a moment from a stray ash. He turned to see the storm fast approaching, and swore loudly, ”Bloody Flaming Ashes, burn in Sha’yol Ghul!” He had read that in a book once. Unimportant, time to fucking sprint like his life depended on it. Probably did, with his flaming luck.

Suddenly, Magnus regained consciousness. His body was filled with heat but his eyes were blinded by a bright light. He got out of the tent and realized what was the cause of this phenomenon. A rip in spacetime was sucking them in.

"GET AWAY!" yelled Ethel as she tried to float back towards her vessel. But it was no use. Accepting their ultimate demise, each of the people held what possessions they had. They flew towards the rip faster and faster until SNAP. Magnus looked around. He was in empty space, with no one else around him. Through the rip, the rest of the passengers ended up in either an alternate universe, a different time period, or a different location within the same universe, or a combination of any of the three.

The ultimate fates of the other passengers are not known, but some rumors have been spread. One is that the Lone Mariachi traveled to the past and became a god of a primitive people that were microscopic in his perspective, and ruled over them with the mighty bellow from his trumpet. Another is that Ethel traveled to an alternate universe and was captured by pirates 3 times her size and sold on the illegal pet trade. People have run into the sunglasses guy in the same universe, but he was always wearing a different pair of sunglasses, so no one could notice him.

At that moment, Magnus had no idea where and/or when he traveled to. Space was the same as in the previous place he was. Cold and dark. But before Magnus could freeze again, he saw a rouge planet (look it up if you need to) about the size of a very small moon. Mustering all the strength he could, Magnus stepped onto a piece of space debris and used his telepathy to move himself towards the planet. Once on, he noticed a strange heat source originating from the inside. This was enough to keep him alive at least. The planet was featureless and smooth, almost steel like in structure. There Magnus waited. He didn't know where the planet was going, but he was along for the ride.

As Pirila goes to close the door, something stops her. A person is approaching. She can't quite see them, but she can definitely hear the swearing as they approached. She sighed as she kept the door open for slightly longer to give the person just enough time to enter before slamming it shut.

"You got lucky there, stranger." Pirila said as she locked the door with a chain. "If you hadn't ran that fast or swore that loudly you'd have been caught outside. Though can I request you keep the swearing down a bit? Someone's trying to sleep and I'd rather have her not learn swears."

"Feel free to stay here until the storm dies down, I won't be opening the doors before that happens anyway."

The words "Long Live the King" echoed, yet become stronger with each repeat, as though cascading in some sort of dark amplifying theater before everything went suddenly quite, just for a moment, and then Sir Swallow found himself spat out onto firm, dirt-ground with the afternoon sun beating down on him. To his left and to his right are rows and rows of tottering piles of lifeless, broken vehicles. Anything of any value had been stripped, leaving their rusted carcasses heaped one on the other and waiting to be fed to the crusher. In the near distance ahead he could see the large metal gate of a high brick wall crowned with rolls of razor wire, and above the gate was a sign that spelled out four red words in graffiti style font, Little Bob's Wrecking Yard

Between himself and the gated exit, however, stood a young, pretty lady with brown shoulder-length hair and green eyes. Despite her obvious beauty - and not that Sir Swallow should care about that detail - she was dressed in well worn black boots, torn blue jeans, and a dirty grey flannelette shirt with sleeves rolled up unevenly. In one hand she dangled a half-drunk bottle of beer, in the other was loosely clutched some variety of remote activation device.

Sir Swallow would have had barely enough time to come to terms with his plot, before the young woman held up the remote device in her hand with a threatening sneer. She angled the device so he could view the red button she was covering with her thumb, then glanced up to the 5 tone wrecking ball hanging in the air directly above him.

"One false move, Metal Head.... Do I make myself clear?"

She then takes a quick swig of her beer, wipes her mouth with the sleeve of the same arm, and has a little giggle before saying more.

"...And here I was minding my own damn business, when right on outa the blue some spatial anomaly opens up and out you come - the most peculiar look'n machine I've ever seen. I've seen a lotta fancy machinery in my life, but you are something quite unique. Now, how about you tell me real calm-like just what you are and what you're doing here in my uncles wrecking yard, and maybe I'll think about not dropping that big bad ball of steel on ya."

The stockpile of cars on either side of Swallow are close, leaving him very little room to move from side to side. Behind him remains the open fissure, though it remains slowly closing. The only other direction was straight ahead where the young lady stood on the narrow dirt road that led to the gate.

After escaping any real damage from the Supernova blast by... uh... unknown means, and while interacting with his navigational systems to seek out an inhabited planet or space station, another transmission from an unknown source is received by Ernest's communication systems. The voice once again is feminine and speaking in an unknown dialect, but repeating the same words as before: "Dorsin ost halit."

As the transmission is then terminated by its own doing, Ernest's navigational sensors detects a structure several lightyears away from his position. The structure is too small to be a planet and mostly metallic based, but they indicate that a single life-form exists within the structure. If Ernest attempts to bring up an image of the structure at that distance he will fail. If he chooses, he could just go there and investigate the source of the readings to find out what it is.

After escaping any real damage from the Supernova blast by... uh... unknown means,

(Yeah, sorry about that. I'll try to make sure I acknowledge the next supernova)

"Dorsin ost halit" Ernest repeated to himself. "I didn't pay attention to that the first time. Dorsin ost halit... I wonder what that means? And where is it coming from?" Ernest made a mental note to investigate the message when he get the chance.

Ernest assumes that object that he detected is a space station. He turns to face the station. Before he teleports, he checks the terminal:
ARMOR REPAIRS COMPLETE. AUTOMATICALLY PLACING REPAIR PODS BACK IN THEIR CHARGING STATIONS.
DORM SENSOR REPAIR PROGRESS: APPROXIMATELY 50%.
DORM SCANNING PROGRESS: 15%. NO NOTABLE INSTANCES FOUND YET.

"...Who programmed my terminal to use language like "no notable instances found"? Whoever designed me must have been very proud of their vocabulary."

Ernest started up the lightspeed engine, getting ready to warp to what he assumed to be a space station.

“Yeah yeah I’ll keep the swearing down to a fucking minimum” He swore, both an oath and a swear, notably quieter than his earlier yelling “Where the fu-heck am I anyways? This time, at least.”

Bloody stupid fucking space portals... make up your fucking mind about where you want to lead and quit breaking physics while you’re at it. “Suppose I owe you a da-introduction while I’m at.” He’s trying his best, given the circumstances, and sticks out a hand, somewhat dirtied by ashes “Cuna. Cuna Ier, to be specific.”

Sir Malcolm Swallow fell flat onto his face, getting thrown out of the strange fissure. His legs writhe spastically as he awkwardly gets up and shakes his head. He looks around, not completely in right senses yet due to the interdimensional travel. Carcasses of cars were everywhere, stripped of their most valuable parts. A disturbing sight- it's as if a human would end up in some macabre mortuarium with corpses stripped of their valuable organs.

"By Jove- A graveyard-"

Before he had time to properly inspect his surroundings, he saw the young woman with a threatening device. It had a big red button and it very likely controlled the large wrecking ball that was suspended in the air above him.

"Why, yes, this fissure is quite the anomaly indeed- it appeared in Brecon Beacons as well. Do you know Brecon Beacons? It is..."

He then stopped his explanation, realising that this lady does not want to know about his home, but about himself. Strange, a human not knowing about the Carthropods- but as of now, this lady is in charge, and the only way of not resolving this violently seems to be an explanation. If it could save him from the giant ball of death, then that's likely the best option.

"Peculiar! As you are a human and apparently also the niece of the owner of a... wrecking yard, I would have assumed you have heard of us. I am Sir Malcolm Swallow. I am a Carthropod, and I am fairly certain you can see why. I am a mechanical monster, shapeshifting between the form of an automobile and the form of an insect."

He clears his throat, metallic parts scraping against each other.

"As for why I am here... Well, I was demanded to investigate a quaint-looking fissure in Brecon Beacons. Apparently it appears to be some sort of portal that sent me straight to your uncle's car graveyard."

He glances up at the ball before looking back at the lady, his plumage rattling as he moves his head.

"I hope this explanation suffices, so that you will not immediately murder me."

"Splendid. I step into this fissure and I immediately get threatened to death.", he thought to himself.

@Oh no my soup

It didn't take long for Magnus to realize something was wrong with his situation, besides being stranded on what he had assumed to be a rogue planet hurling through space. While he stood keeping warm by the heat emanating from beneath the surface, he would have noticed that he was slowly bobbing along with the metallic-like surface of the planet that was, in fact, moving up and down in a pulsating fashion. But why in the hell would the surface of a planet be moving up and down like that?

If Magnus was to now take a more careful look around at his surrounds, he might notice something else peculiar about his situation. He was being watched.

Eyes.

There was an eyes some thirty feet from his position, about the size of a basketball and embedded in the surface of the planet as it turned to gape at Magnus with scrutinizing intrigue. If Magnus was to look around more, he would find other eyes like this scattered about the planet. But the occasional eye wasn’t all to be noticed; some fifty yards off was a mound which resembled a miniature volcano. Out from the top of this mound spewed a heavy mist-like substance that spread out across the ground. What Magnus may not have realized, is that this vaporous substance was the planets way of exhaling its waste, but its own waste was providing a breathable atmosphere. Unfortunately, this atmosphere wasn’t only allowing Magnus to breathe, it was providing a suitable living condition for other life as well, which Magnus was about to find out….

…If realizing this planet was actually a living creature was not enough, several minutes after Magnus arrived a cow-size creature could be seen in the distance. This parasite, which looked a lot like a flea, as seen in this image…

…didn’t pay much mind to Magnus. Instead, it stuck its long stinger into the crust of the planet-size life form and started feeding like a mosquito drinking blood, getting fatter and fatter on the black fluid it was extracting. Sadly, when the parasite penetrated the surface, a deep painful groan could be heard coming from deep inside the planet.

Ernest arrives within viewing range of another space craft. The craft is a little over 15 meters in length:

If earnest was to do a scan of the vessel, he might find that there is still only one life form on board and all ships systems are offline. In fact, the ship looked damaged, possibly from the supernova blast that took place earlier.

Despite the ships systems being down, whoever is on board manages to hail Ernest with a brief distress call. The voice on the other end is female, and might even sound familiar to Ernest….

“Unknown vessel – static – this is Fanny May of the galactic cruiser Jezebel – static – All my systems have been compromised. Are you able – Static – help?”

@Scorpionius

The young lady seems oddly taken aback when the machine started talking, not by the fact that it was actually talking, but the sophisticated manner it spoke by was surprising, if not curiosly appealing to her. She finished off her beer and tossed the bottle carelessly aside, lowering the remote control device to her side as she stepped up close for further analysis.

“Malcolm Swallow, huh?” She reached out with her free hand and gently ran her fingers down his bonnet as if touching something precious for the first time, it might have even appeared a sensual caress to Swallow as she leaned in, narrowing one eye to peer into his headlight. “Why am I turned on right now….”

That said, she took a few steps back, looking over Swallow with what could only be seen as increasing admiration for the machine.

“Call me Fanny. And no, I’ve never heard of you or this… Brecon Beacons before.” She said, and without any warning at all she made a deliberate jerking motion of her arm as her thumb pressed down on the red button of the remote device –

Behind Sir Swallow, beyond where the fissure was now shrinking out of existence, a garage door began to open.

“Get inside,” She told him with a quick toss of her head in direction of the garage; “If Bob finds you out here…” She shakes her head with a roll of her eyes, “You don’t even wanna what will happen to ya. Come.”

With the fissure gone, Fanny leads Swallow into the garage and closes the door behind them. Inside, the garage is huge and filled with all manner of mechanics equipment, but it wouldn’t take long - judging by some of the advanced machinery laying about the place - for Swallow to realize that this world he entered wasn’t as primitive as the wrecking yard outside may have suggested.

“I likely don’t know the planet you’re from. Is Brecon Beacons its name or something like that? Strange name to be honest with ya.” She tells him, as she heads to the fridge to grab another beer. “Anyway,” She turned to Swallow, popping the cap from the beer and takes a drink. “This World is called Promothe. Sure glad they didn’t send you here to capture me again…” Her voice trails off as if she may have made a slip of the tongue. She thinks for a moment, then lifts up her drink as if to offer a toast, and adds: “Can I offer you a drink? Oil change, maybe?”

Ernest contacts the unknown vessel.
"Hello? This is Ernest of the... Ernest. I can't understand you very well, your com system seems to be damaged. I'll try to help you if I can, but I don't have many options... Best way insure your safety is to get you onto my deck, but I don't have a practical way to do that.

May, if you can hear me, I'm going to fly closer to you and see if I can get your ship closer enough to me for you to board me. I don't have any kind of tractor beam, but I might be able to string out some of my repair robots and get them to grab your ship and pull you towards an entrance. I don't think they will actually be able to repair your ship, though.

And, in case I did not make it clear, I am in fact the battleship you see before you. I'm not the captain of the ship, I am the ship. I don't have time to explain the details, I'll explain more once I get you to safety."

Ernest flies (somewhat slowly do to his mass) closer to Fanny May's ship and, once close enough, attempts to gather up repair pods to have them grab ahold of each other to form a chain to reach out and try to grab Fanny's ship.

ATTEMPTING ASSIGNING REPAIR PODS IN A CHAIN-LIKE FORMATION.

PODS GATHERED, ATTEMPTING TO FORM CHAIN STRUCTURE...

DORM SENSOR REPAIR: 75%.
DORMs SCANNED.... 25%. NO NOTABLE INSTANCES FOUND.

(Hey GM man, I'm leaving it up to you on whether or not Ernest can actually chain his pods out. And if he can, you can assume that he attempts to pull Fanny May's ship in)

Magnus was at first startled by the realization, but came to terms with the creature. If he weren't riding on the creature now, he would've been frozen to death and suffocated at that point. The creature was going somewhere and Magnus needed to protect the creature at all costs. He rummaged through his belongings to find at least something that might help. His brother's watch, no that was only for emergencies, a pair of sunglasses he swiped from the Sunglasses guy, no, he might need that for a disguise. A wad of hair from the Giant Yeti that broke out of that intergalactic zoo a few years ago.

"Of course! How could I forget this?" Magnus said to himself. It was a bottle of a strange elixer gifted to him by a high priestess he had had a fling with some time ago. The elixer was one that would take a property from a certain object or entity dissolved inside and amplify that property. He only had a small amount left, but that should be enough if he had the right materials. Strangely, the yeti's hair smelled like peppermints. The boosted affect might possibly be a type of repellent. He opened the bottle and grabbed three strands of hair and placed it into the liquid. Almost immediately, the hair dissolved and the elixer give out an aroma that smelt so sweet, that Magnus had to close the bottle in order to keep his nose from getting diabetes. While the flea was turned around, Magnus slowly crept up behind it and smashed the elixer on the ground.
